Like in Assassins creed origins Good story, the fighting is fun where you can do combos if you want, but this doesn’t feel like an Assassins creed game, the Assassin tree isn’t even that good and is useless most of the time. It’s the same style over and over and over and over again! Kill 2 captains, Free 2 prisoners, loot 3 chests, repeat, repeat, and this is stuff you have to do unless you want to buy “fast level” microtransactions to skip all the grinding. If you don’t do this, you probably will have a hard time doing for example the boat story missions. Even story mode is grinding, kill cultist, kill cultist, and next one and next one etc etc etc.
The game also tries to have a dialogue system like Witcher where the outcome is different based on what you choose in the dialogues, however the cutscenes and the dialogues seems kind of cheap and not well made. It tries but comes short.
UbiSoft made a milking cow with POPUPS of microtransactions. Maybe they are suffering?
Next time I have to be realy realy bored to buy another Assassin's Creed game...

Legendary animals alone are a great example of how poor the combat is and how glitchy it can be. Just look up the workarounds and glitches people are using to defeat some of these creatures. It's not fun skill based combat but rather grinding till you get the right gear or are many levels above the creature.

At the end of the day, the progress through the story feels more like a grind than an adventure. The game itself is beautiful and at times comes close to being gratifying but falls short every time. This can be exemplified by how awesome it is just jump off synchronization points until you've done it 348 times because the map is too large and the quests are too disjointed. It's a chore to play through and the combat forces you into specific playstyles that are even then not-skill intensive.

I cannot recommend and it would take me a lot of convincing to play another Assassins Creed game...

Congrats, UBI managed to destroy most of the best features of the previous games like AC 3 and AC Unity, which had great animations in combat and great parkour, it was fun and looked natural.

    - Very badly rendered finishing moves
Basically you 're going to play with a "cyborg styled character" for dozens of hours, which is unbearable for me, and breaks completely the immersion.

From a game design point of view, it just appears that UBi don't know exactly what they are doing, and try evidently to mix several features in their games, just to make them look different for the players, because they all look basically the same : FarCry , AC, Ghost Recon, Watchdogs, you name it, it is always the same game with just a diiffernt place, at a different time, but it definitely always play the same boring and repetitive gameplay. Now they try to go the RPG route but even Mass Effect 1 did it better in this department. It's just meh in every aspect.
+ the game seems very badly optimized on consoles for now, it plays in the 20-25 fps range basically.

The game once again suffers from gated story missions and other content. Anyone can see this was done to increase grind and get people to pay for XP boosters and what not. They tried to rip of Witcher 3 with this new AC style but failed to capture the magic. The side missions get boring very fast. It's the usual Ubisoft formula where you just clear out nameless enemies a 100 times in each region. I never finished Origins because I got bored of this. Luckily I just rented this game to try out before buy. Looks like AC is finished. They should have just created a new IP for this and Origins because it's certainly not AC anymore. Graphics are great though and the architecture as AC games are known for. Sadly, this game is for people who have 200 hours to grind on pointless side missions so they can get to the levels needed to progress in the game. The last decent AC game was Rogue it seems. Expand

Glad I have continued the trend to buy Ubi-soft games pre-owned for a long time. These Ubi-Soft jokers don't get a single coin out of me anymore, because of these types of anti-consumer practices. This could of been a good game to beat the best Black Flag if Ubi-soft didn't let the usual God level of greed get in the way, oh well.

Others RPG Elements(Dialog options etc) 70/100 - Pretty decent, nothing too special.

Combat 90/100 - fun as always, rarely clunky
Equipment 90/100 - plenty options, but nothing really exotic
Challenges 80/100 - entertaining but pretty one dimensional

Animus-Main-Story 70/100 - Good that nobody in the family died and we were on revenge. But Origins had more dept.
Modernday-Story 10/100 - Aweful and except Layla no connecting dots worth mentioning to the other games. Just disappointing
Sidequest-Stories 55/100 - Ok, but do you know the name of certain characters from those quests? It is a bit better than Origins but they are still pretty similar. I guess with better animations they might improve a ton! Furthermore I personally miss characters like Leonardo from AC2. Open World is fine but I think better will be always worse for Assassins Creed. You have multiple settings but no real "I am home" feeling for example and therefore no characters that bind you to a certain region.
    ____
    Combined:

    Immersion 65/100
    Gameplay 87/100
    Story 45/100

Considering that I a great world or gameplay itself is not a reason for me to discover the game, I put double weight on the story.

To put it in a nutshell, my personal rating would be: 61/100 -> 6/10 considering the game as itself. But due to the fact that it is a part of a franchise I combine it with my personal rating and come to a total of 4.5/10.

    Explanation:
LAYLA IS NOT MY ISSUE with the modern day story. You have a ton of new characters without any character development, no real link to William Miles in Origins and just illogical explanations in order to force gameplay mechanics into a franchise that was build up against those.

This game fulfilled all my worst fears and I am so sad for those who worked on the great world that got ruined by the story itself.

So why the two stars? Well, so much of this game is copy and pasted from Origins! It is far too similar, as if they literally reskinned characters, towns and missions from Origins and somehow did a bad job of it. There is not a lot of new content here really.

That been said, I could have understood the lack of new content since this was released a year after Origins, but it seems a year was not enough time to make new content but was ample time to shove in microtransactions within microtransactions! To save you and I time, just look up Jim Sterling's Jimpressions on YouTube for this game. He gives more detail. They have also made the game slower and more grindy to encourage people to PAY MORE MONEY to progress through the game faster.

Absolutely ridiculous. Avoid this tosh that isn't worth £20, never mind the ludicrous prices Ubisoft want you to pay. I've given up hope for this franchise now. It was one step forward and five steps back.

It amazes me that they sell SEVEN different editions and still pump the game full of these damn microtransactions. Shame on you Ubisoft.

Also the romance options are forced and sometimes really creepy. They shouldve kept them out of the game, AC isnt an RPG.

I absolutely loathe this game, and this is coming from someone who adored the previous entry, Assassin's Creed Origin. Whereas certain improvements were made in this installment, ultimately Greece is a step down from Egypt.

Presentation: While the texture work is fine, the water effects are stunning, and the draw distance is a sight to behold, it's difficult to shake the feeling that the environments seem to be copy and pasted. From grasslands to indistinguishable cities, there is never a sense of the regional diversity which characterized Origins so well. It's always seemingly dense forests with the same classical Greek style marble buildings with mosaic flooring. These were far and away the least interesting section of Egypt in Origins. Memphis had narrow sandy pathways that interject with water canals and in the distance is the gorgeously rendered Temple of Isis. Nothing was notable about Greece's environments other than the Aegean Sea.

Gameplay: This is also a massive step down. In Origins, if enemy types difficulty level was parallel to your ranking, they can be taken out in three or four strikes. In Odyssey it can take upwards to ten strikes due to the expanded RPG mechanics. Furthermore animations and combat are unbearably stiff, more so than Origins. The new bounty system which procedurally generates new bounty hunters made the once exciting encounters with Phylakes into laborious chores where, if contending with an enemy camp and caught, five bounty hunters come out of thin air to make an already tedious combat system borderline unbearable. On the plus side the spartan kick is amusing and ship to ship combat is exciting.

Story: Conceptually the story is rather decent, especially when the central antagonist is unveiled. The central problem lies in presentation. The voice acting is abysmal, the animations are universally laughable. Compared to the Witcher 3 which balances algorithmic dialogue sequences with handcrafted motion captured sequences, mostly everything in Assassin's Creed Odyssey's presentation is unremarkable and dull.

Leveling: Far and away the worst issue plaguing Assassin's Creed Odyssey, leveling up in this game requires players to complete as many side quests as possible in order to push the central story forward. What's worse is that players can buy XP points with real money in order to allow players to "skip the grind". This design decision was intentional and it's there for the sole purpose of extorting as much money from it's player base as possible. It's an insidious practice that deserves culpability from the larger community.

Overall, this is a mediocre game in an otherwise excellent year for gaming.

Very disappointing experience. I do not want to go much into detail as I would be just repeating other players, but basically this is not game what you would expect in the end of 2018.

Story is really bad, non-existent, uninteresting, badly scripted. The whole drive of AC franchise has disappeared, mostly because of lack of Assassins and Templars. This game is called Assassins Creed but You, as player, do not belong to any fraction. You are just mercenary who in his attempt for vengeance is fighting randomly for Athens or Sparta with no core drives. Main quests and also side quests are very repetitive, offering no challenge or innovative approach. All actions are mostly limited to “go there, kill somebody, come back, but it is not enough, you need to return back where you came from and bring something else”.

AC franchise was mostly interesting for its illuminati-like narrative, retelling history, legends and myths in its own and very original way through eyes of secret organizations operating behind main events in human history. But this aspect is hugely missing making entire story very boring and history turned upside down just to serve sick political and race correctness in slavery states in acient Greece.

Except the story, the gameplay is literally disaster. It never happened to me on any console that any game was freezing or lagging as AC:Oddysey does. Graphics and animation compared to Horizon Zero Dawn from 2017 or God of War from early 2018 is on lowest level.

Combat system based on levels is also very painful and poorly designed, making it nearly impossible to defeat character even 1 level above you (3 levels above are marked with red skull). This strips any challenge on any difficulty and chance to defeat your enemies just with your playing skills. You basically need to be correct level to proceed to locations or even main story, what brings me to next point.

Hated microtransaction, yes, they are plenty and players are rightfully angry about it. Oddysey is not cheap game, not even in most basic edition without all DLCs and bonus content, and still Ubisoft is forcing players to spend another 20 EUR for some “Time savers” to get right amount of experience and game currency so you can continue in main story without running around and completing repetitive side quests.

But worst of worst is loading time of game which is amazingly long. Especially in age of eliminating loading time to minimum, in this game you will get longest loading time between in-game cutscenes and gameplay I have ever seen. The worst it is when you wait several minutes to load cutscene which is couple seconds long and then you wait another minutes to get back to gameplay. Fast Travel option just lost all meaning when travelling by by foor is qicker than using fast travel option with insane loading time.

All in all, I need to acknowledge size of this world and plenty of side quests and characters. I would say that main reason behind all microtransactions is that 60 USD is not real price of this game, rather 100 USD in basic edition, thanks to its enormity. However, poor combat system and terrible gameplay experience make it one of the worst games I ever bought.

False decision trees or worthless being given choices.

A boring, dull, long and confusing game. After completing Origins I must say that this game is a disappointment. The only motivation to carry on is to finish it off once and for all and never think about it again. This game doesn't have anything to do with the AC saga and the creed itself. For me it's the most overrated Assassin's of all.

    3. Storyline was not as expected, so a bad ending.
    4. Poor animations and physics- come on, 70-80% of video games nowadays they have good graphics and a lot of insane details, this game to me with this poor graphics it really fits for a ps3 video game and here is the point about physics: when you slash an enemy, there are no slash wounds, just blood covered around all the body, which to me is so unrealistic.

    Good spots:
    1. Open world video game.
    2. Weapons and costumes were interesting.
    So nothing else.

    Verdict:

I've not played as Assassins Creed game for quite a few years but got a free code for this and thought I'd give it a go. I'm quite shocked by how far the series has devolved into a mobile-like microtransaction fest design to wrangle as much money from the player as possible.

In short, the game is packed to the gills with artificial grind. There is a light RPG levelling system which lets the player upgrade their character as they progress through the game. Each game mission has a recommended level the player should be at in order to succeed. And by recommended I mean absolutely necessary as higher level enemies will deal enough damage to kill the player character in one or two hits.

The weird thing is that the XP needed to gain levels accumulates very slowly and you are faced with higher level enemies and missions right from the start. So how are you supposed to level up? Luckily Ubisoft has 'Time Saver' add ons to cut out the grind and increase XP gained, and all you need to do is part with your real world money. In a full priced game.

And why call them 'Time-Savers'? This isn't a job, its an entertainment product, you should want to spend time with it.

Everything in the game seems designed to push the player into buying these XP boosters as the player is constantly presented with high level enemies, missions, equipment and abilities. So playing without the boosters feels like playing a free mobile game with ads enabled.

And after all the bugging the player to spend real money the game itself is fairly unengaging and bland. The majority of missions are; 1 - Go to this place, 2 - Kill these people, 3 - Pick up this item , 4 - Return item to person. If you want to do that for 30 hours then this is the game for you.

The portrayal of ancient Greece is fairly well done (even though most of the research seems to have been watching the movie '300'' several times) and the light RPG elements are a nice addition. If you're interested in the setting then maybe wait to pick it up on sale.

But the game is designed to psychologically batter you into paying real money for a game you've already bought. Even if the game was one of the best ever made you have the right as a consumer to be able to switch off and enjoy the thing you've invested in without fighting the constant encouragement to part with yet more money. Go re-watch Jason and the Argonauts for the millionth time, you'll enjoy it a lot more than this.

Let´s start with the dialog and story (NO SPOILERS), so the dialogs system tries to be like witcher 3 dialog but unfortunantley falls flat, in one mission I tried calming down a little girl and appeard a dialog for it but what my Alexios said was a brutally opinion and harmed the poor girl´s feelings and this type of dialogs are spread in all the game side quests and main missions. The flashbacks are cheesy with no impact at all, and the romance system is so boring, it doesn´t requiered attetion to the character you trying to romance, just press the romance of option and BAM you just got a hot date with a boring no meaningful character, were in other games you need to actually put effort in doing it.
Now the combat: Origins did a great job evolving AC combat and it was simple, functonal, with a functional lock-system. But un AC Odyssey is a complete mess, the parry requieres two buttons to work LB+RB which if you ask me is pointless, when in other games like witcher 3, dark souls, origins, etc., you only press one button for the parry and it worked so good because hey just requieres pressing one simple button. When you hold LB for a special attack or parry, your character is completley vulnerable and thanks to the delay of buttons in the game, you´ll end up getting hit, (NOTE: Im playing this game on nightmare mode), the lock system is crazy, with a small move the joystick you´ll change the lock to multiple enemies, a cool feature on ORIGINS was when you were close to a structure, plant, fence, etc., you could see through those things so you wouldn´t miss the character and concencrete fully on the battle, when AC Odyssey doesn´t have that helpful feature and last but not least the special attacks are broken, specially the spartan kick, you know your game has problems when people abuse the special attacks and that makes the game unchallenging when they´re charge.
Difficulty: like I said, Im playing on nightmare mode. As someone who loves a challenge, the difficulty on AC is not challenging but absurd, when Im fighting against the legedary animals Im so concentrated on them that when all they call more animals to aid the "boss" my enjoyment is completely ruin by a bad game design wich is that, when you are fighting a boss is suppose to be between you and the boss and not their minions+boss and the problems mentioned before made the battles more frustrating and the same goes to captains, ORIGINS nightmare mode made it fair and challenging. -OH JUST LOWER THE DIFFICULTY DOWN, yeah like lowering down the difficulty will fix the problems of game design in the game.
    Special features:
Bounty: the bounty was a create concept, but poorly introduced. Mercenaries appeared out of nowhere next to you after 5 seconds into the bounty, they´re crazy powerful or weak mercenaries, they aren´t divieded by zones. The phylakitais on ORIGINS worked so much better, all of them were powerful but fair and divided by zones.
System Isolation: I hate the new armor/lvl/combat system, they isolate the stealth, combat and ranged combat. When I tried doing my playthrough stealthy I was completley rekt, why? Simple, my assassin armor was weak, and if I used the hunter or warrior armor, they´ll decreased my stealth damage, at the en I gave up on my stealth playthrough and went combat only which is a shame since I love my stealth missions and playthrough. The bows are completley useless even with full hunter armor. Games like MGSV, origins, metro, etc. Reward you for stealth and aren´t isolated by a stupid and painful system isolation.
Animations: thanks to the poorly lock system, the mess of a combat system, and bad game desing, the animations paid a huge price specially on the combat, they are so many bad animations for the enemies that I usually miss a parry thanks the to poorly made animations, some enemies will hit you with an invisible attack that connected with you even 2mts away. And the climbing, I always get stuck on various parts of the maps thanks to a poorly placed polygon or bad programming.
Enemies: the female enemies with spears are crazy powerful, they´ll hit you non-stop even if you hit them they wont flinch at all, the big ones are easy but with creazy powerful attacks, but mostly easy, the one handed sword are fast for its own good, and then the shield ones thata are like mountain with a crazy defense or weak defense. There is no balance and so many other enemies that are more broken than FOR HONOR at launch.
I could keep going and say more about the problems about this game, but Im running out of characters. So at the end, DO NOT HEAR THE GAME JOURNALIST AND GAME CRITIQUES LIKE IGN AND GAMESTOP, they were paid to said good things about this game (like always). After this awful expirience Im never buying a game from ubisoft quebec ever again.

But sadly the game bases its game play on these micrtransactions and they cast a shadow on this review as a whole. It is basically Assassins Creed Origins but located in ancient Greece rather than Ptolemaic Egypt. But even in Origins the mechanics weren't as grind heavy as there were at least ways to gather resource quickly in the form of attacking shipments of resources and taking them. Here there is no such mechanic and finding resources in order to upgrade your armor and weapons will be one of the hardest things you will have to do in this game. Of course the reason behind this grind is that they sell resource kits filled with material required to upgrade in their online store. in some cases I had armor in my sets that were 20 levels behind my current cap at level 50 because at that level the amount of resources required to upgrade were as much as 600 to 700 just for one upgrade and as a reference the most I have gotten from an ore is 10. So these mechanics alone are enough to drive my score down to a 5. But everything in combination heavily outweighs any of the good that is to be seen in this game. The amount of detail in this game is breathtaking and it seems Ubisoft really did their research when looking up how life in Greece really was in this time period. instead of plain white marble structures everything is painted and beautifully filled with color much like at the time period. And Greek pronunciations and dialect are a welcome change from the whitewashed hockey British accents you see in most film set in ancient Greece. Now while being historically authentic to culture and aesthetic doesn't mean they got everything right. For the love of god where is the hoplite warfare that was indicative of the time period. Why are there so many Spartan ships. Why do they make this war seem like it lasted a couple of weeks when it was really 30 years. Why is the plague played down so little when it was really the main reason Athens lost the conflict. Why is this spartan soldier fighting with two maces who did it. Not having his shield alone was enough for him to lose his spartan citizenship.
This games combat is enjoyable just like origins and most of it was copy and pasted from origins to fit this game. And specific bows aren't necessary for specific actions they were added onto the skill tree for this game instead which is a welcome change of pace for bow combat.
Characters are also interesting and engaging. Though much of your interaction with them is forced rather than something that is sought out. As stated above this game is incredibly grindy. So in order to progress through the main story you a forced to do these sidequests rather than wanting to do them on your own. Use The Witcher 3 on how you should base secondary mission element into your game. So even in character development microtransations rear their ugly face into this game. Although I did enjoy my discussions with Sokrates and Alkibiades though I will never understand why they made him so effeminate. But if you want to hear me ramble and say the **** word more times than can be counted check out my review on my youtube channel.

    3) Gameplay is still somewhat fun BUT the world is immense and it becomes highly repetitive and boring after 3 regions.

It is a sad sight to see a giant like Assassin's Creed lose its identity and sense of direction. Assassin's Creed thrived while in its action/adventure story style but, after years of milking the series for what it's worth year after year, the developers decided to make things fresh by almost completely stripping it of its identity. For critics, reviewers, and casual players, this is a welcomed change. But for the real fans, it is reasonable to see this as a tragedy. The linear, focused version of storytelling is replaced by your cooky cutter open dialog choice, gender selection, and multiple endings, which would be fine if that fit into Assassin's Creeds established lore and formula. The reason why the other installments didn't have these RPG elements are because of the Animus, a machine that lets people experience memories of ancestors through their DNA. Realistically, this would mean you sit through the memories like you would a linear story, not mend and change the memories to your liking like you would with a RPGs. The RPG formula just doesn't work with the storytelling of the game.

The present-day story has been weak for a long time now, ever since the end of Desomd Mile's story. Granted, the present day story from the first Assassin's Creed to Assassin's Creed 3 has had its fault. But, even with those faults, the story of Desmond Miles was interesting, had its high moments, and held a lot of insight into the world of Assassin's Creed. With better writing and care, the present day story could've been something truly great. But by comparison, Desmond Mile's story was far better than what's been spit out over the past few games and the implementation of Layla Hassan hasn't been a real improvement. People actually praise the fact that she and her present-day story is hardly in the game, which is disappointing because it shows that the writers can't seem to get the present-day aspect of their overall story right. In this installment, they also seem to forget the driving force and reason for these games; the Assassins and the Templars. These two major fighting forces are pretty much non-existent throughout the game, which is disappointing considering there are a lot of areas of both sides that still need to be fleshed out but are sadly ignored.

But to get off the subject of story, there are a few things to point out in terms of gameplay. The combat is a joke. Movement and animation are janky and cartoonish, stealth assassinations are a little outlandish for stealth assassinations, and with the implementation of RPG elements, there are these giants, goofy numbers that pop up with every attack. This a far cry from what the combat used to be. Sure, in terms of challenge and variety, it is better compared to the counter-spamming combat system of older installments. But, with what it gains, it loses the charm and interest that came with the smooth combat and cinematic movement and executions. It felt as though you were playing as an experienced fighter and assassin, not as a janky cartoon character on cocaine. There is just no charm to the combat as it sits now.

Also, what is the point of freerunning at this point? The most iconic part of the series where you could get from place to place in a fast and fashionable manner, jumping from rooftop to rooftop, wall to wall, has been belittled to jumping and climbing over rocks, trees, and a handful of buildings that are just close enough to jump between so you feel some sort of relevance out of it.

The Assassin's Creed formula along with the identity has changed so much to the point where it is no longer is an Assassin's Creed game. Rather than improving the series's gameplay and story shortcomings while still keeping it true to its roots, Ubisoft seems to think it's better to just throw out everything that made Assassin's Creed great and turn it into an unrecognizable game to follow the fad of everything being an RPG and to make a profit off the series name. As a totally separate game, Assassin's Creed Odyssey would be a great game and probably have a lot better scoring overall. But, being that it is an Assassin's Creed game, it should be judged as so. For hardcore and veteran players, it should be sad to see a game so loved lose so much of itself just so that companies can continue to milk it year after year. It has seriously lost the heart and soul that made it great.

    - assassination button being mapped the same as the interact button is probably the dumbest idea I have seen in a long time
    - brings back the Origins style assassinations, where if anybody is two levels higher than you, pressing the assassination button takes five percent of their HP
    - the story is forgettable
    - the side stories are completely forgettable
    - the spongy enemies are back and it is even worse now, as some of the Mercenaries that come after you can take five minutes of straight DPS so you are going to be fighting a single enemy for about ten minutes, if you include dodging and strafing
    - the microtransactions went from bad to abysmal as every part of progression is either a disgusting grind or pay five dollars for 150%XP boost for two hours

Want to hear the best joke the series ever told? Assassination damage builds in AC Odyssey. The level based assassinations are back and they are as dumb as ever. Upon pressing the assassination button an animation plays. In this animation, you could see your character stab someone sixty times then set them on fire then poison them then let a lion tear them to shreds and then drop a nuke on them. And they get hit for five percent of their max health.

But wait, this game has melee damage builds, ranged damage builds and assassination damage builds. Surely if I build assassination damage I can kill people with my assassinations. Yeah, no. In fact you are screwing yourself over completely if you build like that.

I mean, you will do fifteen percent of their health instead of five but guess what? They are still not dead. And now they alerted the whole camp. So you either have to fight or run. Oh you want to fight? Dummy you built assassination damage not melee damage. So the enemies that are spongy for the melee damage builds are a nightmare for you. Now instead of just the Mercenaries taking five minutes each, all of the enemies will take years off your life.

Now I am going to make a controversial statement. Ready? Interact button should be an interact button. OK? Let me repeat that. Interact button should be an interact button. Do you know what I don't want to do? I don't want to run up to an NPC and jump instead of talking to them. I don't want to crouch instead of talking to them. I don't want to use an item instead of talking to them. And I certainly do not want to track a nearby non-essential NPC and put my knife through their neck. Of course not killing them but now they are hostile as well as the quest giver.

Whoever thought it was a good idea to make the Interact Button/Assasination Button combo on the controller should be fired on the spot. Like how stupid are you?

Ok now to the fun part, the microtransactions. When this game drew ire for the amount of ridiculous monetization they came out defending it with the most hilarious lie I have ever seen. The Time Savers are there for adults that don't have time to grind video games. I mean you could do that… or you could just not make the game a grindfest scraping for every bit of progression in order to be tempted into the store. But thanks Ubisoft, thanks for balancing the game just right and thinking about the hard working people.

Damn this game just pisses me off. I 100% it without ever purchasing a single thing from the store and damn, there are few games that left me emptier than this one. This thing is a hollow shell of what the greater AC series used to be. It is not all bad, as there are moments where I had some fun with the game and I clearly had to enjoy some of it to 100% it but wow. The hours put into this title feel like wasted time which is not a feeling I should get after finishing a game.

Main story is boring and not interesting if you compare with previous games. There was so much potential in the Spartan-Athens times and they just wasted the opportunity to create a good game. This is just a bog DLC of Origins

The game is poorly optimized, I have a pretty good computer (decent quality on the witcher 3, AC Unity, other games), it's not the best computer but it works fine and is able to manage a heavy game. With Odyssey I dropped the graphics to the lowest, the game looks like a PS2 game and it's still lagging !!! I mean the terrain is worst than Skyrim's at this point!
Good transition, the textures are ugly. Not because they aren't of good quality when you turn the graphics on, but because they're shoddy. Look at the male main character, whatt's the problem with his eyes ?
The AI is still stupid, people think that using math to force you using a certain number of hits to kill someone is creating difficulty and challenge, but it's actually just boring and none realistic in a game that wants to be as much realistic.
Realism in the game is just killing all the fun, caves so dark you can't see a thing, characters too much like "everybody" , ... . The characters lack epicness ! I don't want to play aybody, I could just be myself in real life, the graphics and latency are unbeatable. I want to play an assassin

    Game issues:
The story is boring. The reason is that if you can decide the end of every quest, decide too much things, there s actually no story... It's just a sandbox, and I like sandboxes but they aren't no game.
The controls are so frustrating and poorly chosen !! seriously, Y to assassinate, RB to hit? X to dodge ??? I mean you want to dodge and assassinate quickly, choosing the buttons that are the furthest from your thumb IS a bad choice, it's purely basic ergonomic logic. RB is in my opinion a bad choice for spammable actions because it forces you to move your hand in a none intuitive position but that's less objective.
Bow does no damage, assassination are not worth it bec
There are the same problems with freerun there was in Unity (haven't played Origins nor Syndicate): whan you want to jump between roofs, cross a fence, an obstacle , ... The character stops, cross the obstacle slower than if it was walking, and then have to run again. I thought the point of free run was to cross obstacles quickly and escape from the ennemies ??? It's so not worth it ! Every ennemy will catch up .
The story is just badly told, the introduction of the character is with flash backs inside the animus which is basicly a flash back. The main character is a stereotype of "fighter with a heat" like Rob Roy, Bruce Willis in most of his roles, ... . But it worls in latter movies because the hero is struggling. Given the broken abilities of Alexios/Kassandra, I just don't buy it.

    Issues related to the franchise:
This is not an Assassin's Creed ! No assassinations, free run is useless and painfull, fights feel like a cheap the witcher 3.
The point of Assassin's Creed was to hide a story behind well known historical events and figures. I don't know why every spartan in this game speak like Kratos or the spartans in the movie 300 but it's so wrong. Sparta had 2 kings, slaves and all free spartans were poets aside being warriors (and there are much more errors).
Assassin's Creed games worked around different phases : assassinate, run away. It's okay to try reinventing the game, but wether your really change it or you don't change it at all. The skills feels useless, not really damage dealing. They are forced into the game without necessity: in the warrior tree, the first 3 skills are kind of similar but not really interesting, just flavouring the fights.

To sum it up : just play the witcher 3, it's much better.
2 things are really interesting though : Ikaros is so great : technically and in the gameplay, so useful, such a great eagle vision! The armor designs are reallyg good. Lacks some variety but yet really good.

To put it simply they need to stop making Witcher 3 clones and start making Assassin's Creed games again. The game uses an RPG style level system that is poorly balanced and fighting one enemy only a few levels higher then you will take 5-10 minutes. In games like the Witcher 3 level scaling is an option, but the defult is off, and you only really need to turn it on for new game plus. The witcher is a leveling system done right, this is not. The combat is also boring and like I said above, you will need 5-10 minutes of strait hitting a guy to kill an enemy a few levels above you. The world is also boring and samey. There are very few instantly recognizable places. The side quests in that world are some of the most uninteresting and boring things to ever exist. The side characters are boring and uninteresting. The story is also boring, generic, and uninteresting. And it's more of a personal thing, but I don't like alot of strait up magic in my Assassin's Creed. Alse the end game is incredibly grindy. I think Ubisoft should make this a biennial franchice. Give each game more developement time and space them out a bit more, and try to go back to classic Assassin's Creed. Using the newer and better technology available they could make a classic style AC game set in the days of Genghis Khan in the Mongal empire, the Mexican Revolution, the Spanish Inquisition, futile Japan, any time in Russian history. Just make the game take place after Origins, but before world war2, and make a game styled after AC 2 and Brotherhood, just please stop with the sh*tty witcher clones. Expand

This has to be one of the worst RPGS and the worst open world game I have EVER played

The Story sucks with forgettable characters and cringeworthy dialogue and voice acting The graphics are bad and I have played better on PS3 The combat is so unsatisfying with you just floating your weapon and chipping away at an enemy's health until they die The Open world is huge but it has horrible

The Open world is huge but it has horrible side quests and it is completely empty

Despite this being an assassin game the stealth is terrible

INSANE amount of level gating so you have to complete like 20 bland side quests to play the main story and the reason why they do this is to force you to buy XP boosters so you have to skip the game if you pay about 10 dollars

This game is a COMPLETE disaster, atrocious game

O enredo pior. Horroroso.

This game is a disgrace to Open World games and this in my opinion is the worst of them all

    It's Origins but more tedious.
This is kind of a mosh mash of games. You've got the rpg aspect of Mordhau, the choices of telltale games, photography for some reason and the ships which I so hated in ac3 and upwards but hey, to each their own.

You may have realised that I didn't mention anything about assassins, probably because there aren't any. The traditional one shot assassinations now only deal half the damage and no longer kill someone instantly and the story is somewhat boring. I could probably get into it if the main quest didn't require 5 hours of side quests to get to the level you need to start the thing. Some of the characters are interesting but I do have a question. Why make the player choose between 2 characters if you only really care about one? It just screams lack of dedication. Not only that, but the same character model is used again and again, oh look this pirate woman is a priestess now on the same island! And the mercenary's make no sense as they can track you instantly despite being over 5000m away from you at the time and just randomly stalk you, phones didn't exist back then so it was word of mouth or letters and neither of these were implemented. The gems and rocks you are me at to collect haven't been designed well either, they morph into walls so you can't reach them but ping anyway. It could be ignored by some but annoy the living daylights out of me. This shouldn't have been labelled as an ac game as it holds no resemblance to the franchise. Origins was nice because it was a new game style but even then the replacement of Eagle vision with an actual Eagle was pushing it. Now eagles are the eyes of the characters with no explanation for how this happened. Don't get me wrong, the characters look great with Alexios having very kind eyes and the facial expressions being amusing, but the game feels like it was rush produced and kind of shows that. Now there's also an emphasis on tombs, like the Greeks were all lara croft and possessed magic. I'm going to be honest and say that the modern story is lost on me at this point. I have no idea what's happening and each game seems to be standalone to me now. Not only is the game incredibly repetitive, there's also a very large amount of bugs that just cause the game to crash or break that don't appear in the previous installments like unity or syndicate despite being played on the same console. Multiple forums online also attest to these bugs appearing across multiple platforms and countries so it can't be the console itself. I could go on and on about why this is a bad game but that would waste more of my time and I think enough of that has been used on this game. The story line is forgotten when you are forced to level up before playing and the exploration mode is illogical when it essentially guides you to the marker anyway. Do not fork out full price for this, I wouldn't even bother as you will just become frustrated unless you like meaningless combat and time wasting. For a game marketed at £40 on release, it barely rivals the early xbox original games as games like the original fable would be a more enjoyable experience.

Il peggior capitolo della saga! Personaggio piatto, storia che non colpisce, bisogna livellare ed anche molto ripetitivo. Manca la possibilità di equipaggiare lo scudo in quell'epoca storica molto grave. Bella l'ambientazione.

The looks a feel of this game are decent. Its why I spent money on the game.
I wish I hadn't. Imitation difficulty seems to be par for the course for ubisoft. Player is winning a fight? Okay, spawn 12 more enemies on top of the player.. winning isnt allowed. It makes emerson into the game impossible.

After a few games, I will never spend a dime on assassins creed anything again, nor anything ubisoft. It doesnt matter how good a game looks or feels, with emerson breaking garbage programming it becomes worthless.
Maybe my expectations are too high, expecting a quality product from an obviously substandard company.

I cared more for these characters and the world than I ever did in previous Assassin’s Creed games, and I think that’s part of why this reboot is so successful. Playing Assassin’s Creed Odyssey left me feeling valiant and triumphant as I worked my way up the cultist food chain, and and I was always excited to see what Kassandra was off to discover next.

If someone had told me couple of years ago that Assassin’s Creed would become a full-fledged action RPG that would not look out of place on a shelf next to The Witcher 3, I would have snickered. But here I am, over 80 hours into Odyssey and still unable to believe that really happened. [12/2018, p.44]

It also commits a few of the same sins: in particular, the deluge of gar drops feels vaguely insulting, conditioning the player to lust after items exclusive to the in-game store. It's lifted, however, by the relative wit and intelligence of its quest design, and the delicate notes of uncertainty and curiosity introduced by Exploration mode. [Christmas 2018, p.108]
