    The game quality is overall above average amount all the PUBG-like games. It's a good idea the game has different characters abilities and is designed as team work game, but no solo match is ruining my gaming experience. Yet, so many people are playing as solo, diving into crowd, getting knocked down, and then they will quit without giving their teammates a chance to revive them.

    The positives + the balance is probably at it's best place right now, no op legends , no **** legends. Mirage is still decent despite what people say, you guys are just trash.     + the matchmaking is not that bad like last seasons but im not an expert so don't take my word for it.
    + I like also how every map has a different way to get high tier loot.
    + graphics aren't amazing , but for a free to play game they are still solid enough.
    negatives
    - Even though the battle pass isn't terrible , i am still waiting for a decent one to buy for a couple season's long lmao.
    - storm point just feel like a drag. It's to big and when you get in a fight it's always with multiple squads. King's canyon is aight in pub's but in ranked it's a bit to much. Not bad but by far the hardest map to get a win.
    - connection issues still exist
    neutral point:
    - bring some small pve event back i liked those
    - add some new features or a new grenade or something. We just need something to spice it up after 3 years. Control is decent but doesn't feel new.
    Conclusion:
    Apex legends is the best free fps and maby even the best battle royale out there. Smooth gameplay, nicely balanced etc... The only thing the game needs is something fresh and finetuning of stormpoint.
    I give apex legends a 9 out of 10 , when stormpoint is back in ranked it will be back an 8 though lmaoooo    … Expand

    Time is fleeting and people love short session games. Each new version of Battle Royale brought something new. This is the fastest session Battle Royale at the moment. An interesting feature is the game in a team of three people, which eliminates the "random" death or victory. If you get shot, a team member can resurrect you near the signal beacon..     At the time of writing, Apex Legends is unstable. Does not count hit, falls fps. And now let's move on to the huge minus of the game, because of which you will lose a lot of nerves. It is the impossibility of playing alone. Get ready to play with a stupid, passive, noninitiative, deaf, blind, selfish players who were beaten up with books at school when they were learning the meaning of the words "team" and "interaction."     So this is the new fortnite of 2019. The game has some unique elements like only squads of 3 and hero’s with different abilities.     I'm not a BR fan but Apex is pretty good if you can pre-make a team otherwise you solo que and are dumped in with two lv4 or lower noobs who die instantly to a pre-made squad of lv50+ try hard's.
    If the game implements a different matchmaking system for random's, duo's and pre-made trio's I will happily up my score but as a solo player I feel a 6 is right (for now)

    Very good speed and movement.
    Nice ping system and nice respawn system.
    Awful character design.
    Very fun to play.

    A better experience without all the PC cheaters, but also needs better frame rate, it's obvious that the game pretty much never hit the target 60fps needed for a decent shooter game.

    It was a great game when it first came out but the hackers have hit it hard with the aim bots and infinite health. Prior to hackers, this was a 9. Since the hackers and the absolutely abysmal "battle pass" which you pay $10 for and it's "big" prize for finishing is..... a gun skin for the havoc..... awful. Save your money, don't buy the battle pass.... it's a freakin money grab for crap offerings.

    This game is one of the nicer looking walking simulators. It features a large and lush world, and the walking directions are simple and precise—I always know where I am supposed to go. My only gripe is that sometimes while you're walking other players shoot at you, which ruins the experience.     I level a few times, and I can only get ONE kill... even though I play FPS games almost exclusively. The problem is that this game caters to run and gun style players. Try being tactical and your team craps on you.

    In the end, I don't recommend this game unless you have two other friends who will group with you. The matchmaking is TERRIBLE, and it forces you to play against and with sweaty try hards. After two days I deleted the game off my system.

    I will consider playing again if they put in a solo mode, but as things are right now, I won't be playing this game again.    … Expand

    dont even get me started on the server connection. my buddy and i regularly get booted out of the game. im not talking **** wifi, im talking , the game just shuts down.

    I like the zipline travelling , i think its ingenious compared to the vehicles in other BR games, so thats a plus.

    Also the game seems to be a huuuge gamble when it comes to landing zones. You can land in an area and only have handguns and random attachments lying around, while the people who landed in the area next to you get Epic tier loot. good luck surving your first gun fight at that point, armed with a popsicle stick and a tissue for armor

    overall, good thing its FTP because if i had to pay for it, it'd be a solid Pass.    … Expand

    In my opinion apex legends isn't as great as people say it is. Battle royales aren't my favorite genre but fortnite, pubg, and blackout are all a good bit of fun. The classes are just different enough to make you notice a difference. The game relies too heavily on good loot making it hard to get better when you're just starting. also just having one game mode that isn't solo is astoundingIn my opinion apex legends isn't as great as people say it is.     Honestly, it still has issues. Finding out that most of the development was from TF2's engine and the various systems they created from those assets took a lot of time and balanacing. It's a hot reaction to both Fortnite's success and Anthem's imepending failure.

    Despite this, it's an ok game, and certainly the best in the battle royale realm at the moment. Maybe it can keep that, and    Honestly, it still has issues.     I sincerely hope whatever in universe 'premium' game they are making is able to take full advantage of the profit generated from this, to become something truly epic.

    I'm not the biggest fan of Battle Royale games due to their inherently repetitive nature, but I was a big fan of Titanfall 2. As a result, the controls made me feel right at home immediately as they are almost identical except you can't run on walls, which is fine because in a game of this type I think that would have been more irritating than fun.     Having said that, there are some issues with the game. First, it's still just another Battle Royale in most respects. They do quite a bit to change up the formula, but at the end of the day it isn't reinventing the wheel, just improving how well it rolls. The changes they DO bring are really welcome in this genre filled with literally identical games with different visuals and one with a um... *cough cough* braindead building mechanic *cough cough*. As someone who, when playing BR games, always preferred squad or duo gameplay, the best change is the ''forced'' coop. The hero shooter style character selection is really interesting and the skills are overall cool and useful when put into the right hands. BUT!!! And there's a big but here... The forced coop means dealing with Call of Duty solo players who don't give a flying F about team coordination. This means that more often than not I find myself with people who haven't the slightest idea how to cooperate with others and, of course, consistently end up dead only moments into the match while I'm left alone with two idiots downed with me incapable of picking up their flag to get the revive because they're surrounded by a couple of squads who are ACTUALLY playing together. This is an issue I've always had with hero shooter type games like Paladins or Overwatch (both games that I really enjoy), where something like a healer will try to be the main damage dealer while charging into a 5v1 situation with me standing by thinking ''in what world does it make sense to take on 5 players alone?''. But... Alot of gamers are selfish in nature and want to be the big top dog but always end up dead because it's not how you're meant to play... Unless it's COD. Skills in this game are best suited for squads who stick together and communicate. The ability to ping items and enemies and all that is great, but it does very little to replace ACTUAL vocal communication, especially since most players don't even really use the feature effectively. I think the forced coop is it's greatest change to the formula while simultaneously being it's weakest aspect. Weird, I know, but when you consider my experience with hero games and the lack of role understanding seen across the board this game is pretty frustrating. I see a lot of people saying a solo or duo playlist would make the game better, but I actually disagree. It's a team game by design... Most of the skills are less than useful when not supported by the powers of other characters, meaning solo would make most of the characters basically useless. Might as well just be another standard BR at that point. Know what I mean, jellybean?

    It's not all bad, mind you! I still give the game a 7 after all! Like I mentioned earlier, the hero selection is pretty awesome in my personal opinion. The gameplay is really silky smooth (at least on my PS4 PRO) and have faced very little in the way of bugs, framerate drops or anything else of that nature. The controls are as tight and sharp as I would have expected from the developers of Titanfall and the overall gunplay just feels right. The environments feel much more original than most BR games with an interesting blend of well connected but different locations. I also enjoy the fact that the matches don't feel excessively long and for the most part you don't spend much time running around without seeing players as the action is well balanced and there's very little downtime. compare that to something like PUBG where you can spend a goddam half-hour without seeing a soul and then suddenly BOOM! you're dead from some dude in a bush half a mile away and you are less likely to feel like the game is an utter waste of your precious gaming time. I also really like the fact that there's always a possibility to bring teammates back to life with a good high-risk high reward type of mechanic. Keeps the whole team engaged in the match even once they've been downed instead of just immediately leaving the server.

    Verdict: This is, in my opinion, the better option for a Battle Royale game with it's actual original take on the genre. Despite the issues with selfish and uncooperative teammates that plagues hero shooters there's alot of potential for fun and good times, especially with actual friends. The gameplay itself is tight and engaging and for the staggering price of 0$ you really have nothing to lose in playing a match or two to see if this game suits your tastes!    … Expand

    Another Battle Royal game, at this point i am so burnt out on these games, and that will affect my review ALLOT, game looks great, plays great, and characters other than the developer forcing in Gay characters for brownie point, are all amazing, AND IT'S FREE, my problem with the game and why I can't get into it are mostly because i am burnt out with BR games, so all in all if you stillAnother Battle Royal game, at this point i am so burnt out on these games, and that will affect my review ALLOT, game looks great, plays great, and characters other than the developer forcing in Gay characters for brownie point, are all amazing, AND IT'S FREE, my problem with the game and why I can't get into it are mostly because i am burnt out with BR games, so all in all if you still love BR games, then this is a solid 9/10, for most people, if you are like me and sick and tired of BR games then this is not for you.… Expand

    I’m really tired from this huge number of battle royal games. It is a popular battle royal - again, a lot of people will be playing it - again, and it will be very discussed - again. I’m waiting a lot of the end of this genre.

    I am taking down my old post. I feared on what was going to happen when season one came out, that the battle pass will divide the community up more than it originally did, I feared that it was going to have EA take more control then it did in the beginning, and I feared that this game would not have what we hoped for that was stated in the code, although my old post is rubbish now, I don'tI am taking down my old post.     The battlepass right now is massively disappointing, I was hoping that it could, in one was or another, string away from what Fortnite was doing, but sadly, its even worse than Fortnites. First and foremost, if you don't buy the Premium Pass (battlepass) you will only get one item unlocked for every level, but if you do, you spent 10$ on something that could die any second now. In my old post, I said it's not PTP (Pay to Play) but this sparked up a new concept that's being thrown left and right. I call it PTLC (Pay To Look Cool). it may not seem like much, but its basically what Fornites doing, sure you got Apex packs, but those items in that battlepass aren't in the packs, so if your a collector trying to grind for everything, either pay to get said skins, or your out. I am very disappointed in Respawn to allow a style like this to be leaked in a game that has a 35/65 chance to beat Fornite, this definitely caused people to leave, either make a style like fortnite so at least people can have a option, and you get to unlock more. If this doesn't happen, this game can see a major divide and cause players to leave.
    If there is a slim Possibility that EA got involved when that happened, I wouldn't be surprised. At first, they did not expect for a game like this to literally hitting 5 million players on D1. I see two ways EA got involve.
    1. Microtransactions
    this does explain the battlepass issues I just talked about above, and if its true, I won't be surprised if they tweak the Apex Packs, I mean, they did it before.
    2. The base game
    Like any company, EA should've helped in the first place,, many have heard on how little support was held for the game, now its doing really well, they might've tried to take back the pilot seat and choose its new destiny, however this one is unlikely
    I know I said it has EA all over it, but now it might be true, I will be disappointed if this game fails.

    This last one, I will give Respawn a second chance on. The thing is, when we saw the code for possible solos and duos I think we all were jumping up and down like a birthday code. I just want to know why they didn't implement this in the first place. This is where I will give Respawn their second chance, I will allow the possibility of "Maybe its not ready yet" and people did say to take it with a grain of salt. This would've been perfect, new season and everything that we hoped for. Now for the thing, there may not be ranked mode for Apex. People believe that the code was meant for the battlepass, and it would make sense because, well, as I said, it should've released then and there, I mean, it could work well right there.

    I am really hoping that Respawn and EA can fix the issues, as if they are left unanswered, we will see a storm that could kill it. Those are the reasons why I changed my review.    … Expand

    Aside from their monetization model, this game is very, very good.

    But hey, what do I know? Between the random CTDs every other game, and multitude of visual and audio issues i run into practically every game, it's hard to review a game I barely ever get to actually play.

    (Good things) The ping system is great, especially when you can't or just really don't want to talk to the people in your party. The guns are fun to use. The guns have ammo counters physically on them to somewhat realistically show you how much ammo you have left. The powers/abilities each character gets are helpful if not also fun to use.     No Fall damage is great, in a game like this.
    There are no titans, the vehicles in black ops 4 are bad enough, imagine a titan running around.
    So far at least, there is nothing pay to win about the game.
    There is no friendly fire, finally I don't have to kill my teammates before they kill me every single game.
    It is fun with friends.
    It's free.

    (Bad things)

    There is no solo mode, you have to play in teams of three which unless you have friends you can convince to play with you, means you will be stuck with a random team that tend to run off on their own, leave the game as soon as they die preventing you from reviving them, attempt to team-kill you the moment you find a good item or just because they feel like it, or they will steal the items out from under you.
    The game crashes, after almost every match, if not before the match even starts.
    Armor is a bit too much for me i didn't like it in black ops, and it's even worse here, every time I fought someone it felt like I was shooting a solid steel wall, and if it was the guy with the shield attachment, then it's like shooting a concrete wall surrounded by steel.
    Guns other than shotguns and snipers all feel like pea-shooters, unless you always get headshots you will be doing around 10-15 damage a hit, to people with 200 health, plus occasionally a shield with around 50 extra health.
    With the health and damage the way it is, you can't beat a team of 3 while on your own, unless you attack them while they are in a fight, or pick them off with a sniper, if you are anywhere near them or they see you they will just immediately rush you with shotguns and grenades.
    The melee is just as bad as every other battle royale that has it.
    Pistols and smgs are worthless, you might as well punch them.
    Gun modifications don't really add anything to your guns, other than the sights.
    The effects given by mods are insignificant, I've never noticed a difference between having a white barrel, or when I have a purple.
    The guns are all obvious reskins of other existing or in-game guns, Prowler is a P90, p2020 is a generic pistol, Wingman is a slightly thiccer generic revolver, Devotion is an m249, G7 Scout is an M14, etc.

    And "high risk loot" areas dropping pistols and smgs, while "low risk loot" areas drop Longbow's, and G7 scouts makes no sense to me, I've had this happen a few times now.

    It's a fun game with neat characters to play as, I play it a lot with my brother, I usually play Lifeline or Wraith while my brother seems to pick Bloodhound, Gibraltar, and Bangalore (yeah I don't like switching up all that much).
    My only problem with it is how much the characters can cost to unlock but I plan to play it a lot so I guess it's not too big an issue.

But as I have continued playing this game, it's not much and it does come with its problems. I've had five or six crashes with the game and experienced a lot of lag with it.     One size does not fit all. This game is designed for people who have friends to play with online. Most of the time not fun for single players like myself. This game makes it more difficult than it needs to be for you when being left alone because your team mates die when it's completely out of your control.     To go slightly more in depth, the super strong armour makes it take a long time to kill any one enemy, at any given time. Due to the sound of the gunfire going off for such a prolonged period you're giving your position away so you've usually got several people on you, okay if there's 3 of you, not when you're on your own. When you constantly get put with players who die upon landing this just leads to frustration. Most of the time the game is literally you vs all the other players. I find it quite idiotic that the developers didn't realise this would be the case before, seems quite stupid. We live in a world of division, forcing people to play together isn't going to unite the world it's just going to make people behave toxic, which is apparent every time you hear someone who is actually using a mic. When you do have players who stick together it can be enjoyable but you're still pretty much fighting each other the entire game for loot. Your so called team mates steal loot you got kills for, even sometimes after you have just revived them. All in all the game is highly addictive but it just doesn't cater to enough people. The only reason I hate it so much is because I know how potentially good it is, from the very few games I have had with squads who stay together, but it feels like it sort of blames you for having no friends to play with.    … Expand

For example, the gameplay is much smoother than in Blackout. You can slide what feels really good. Using the weapons is ok. Nothing special. The respawn system is also well thought out.

    Others: The other things are actually what makes the game bad. For example, there is no solo, duo or team mode for ages after release. Just trio. And that just sucks. Furthermore, the game is almost not fed with updates at all. It still feels like the same gameplay to the release. Besides, nobody has to complain about overpriced skins in Fortnite. In Apex Legends the weapon skins or legends skins are much more expensive in comparison. You only buy one skin for one of many heroes for almost the same price as in Fortnite. And that's overpriced!

    Conclusion: Apex Legends is free, so theoretically everyone CAN play it. However, I cannot recommend this. I played Apex Legends for about 5h and I really didn't have any fun. The only thing I like to remember is the very smooth gameplay. No recommendation, play other Battle Royale games!    … Expand

The Ping system is groundbreaking and should be mirrored by all developers from now on. Couple that with amazing fast paced and crisp shooting experience and this review could turn into an 8 to 9 with a dropping of a serious content bomb of modes and map types but if these first months are a sign of things to come than we are looking at 2 to 3 years of further development to get the game to a state further then what can only be called the Demo game we currently have.… Expand

    Quitting a ranked match will give you a time penalty, and yeah 5 or 10 minutes is understandable. But the time penalty will go up for every match you quit, no matter the time between matches. The fact that I got put with a bum squad who left me to watch them play when I was downed because we landed where they wanted is reason enough to want to start a new match.     Apesar de ser Battle Royale genérico de sempre, é bacana a jogabilidade, bem fluída e que vicia em certo ponto, joguei por dias, mas já cansei. Está de graça então recomendo para aqueles que faltam verba para comprar jogos novos.

    For me, Respawn Entertainment (including most of the guys behind former Infinity Ward until 2010; the guys who made COD MW and MW2) did a very good job with this game. They listen to the playerbase (subreddit r/apexlegends).

    This is by far the best Battle Royale, it's mix of gun play and abilities that consistently push the player base to improve are fantastic. I've played most Battle Royale games and none have come close to how clean Respawn has made APEX.
    While there are of course bugs on big new season releases the devs do a good job of fixing them, or trying to make balancing changes in a timely manner.     Bad features: honestly almost none. Maybe the reload time is a bit too long? (but that just encourages you to pursue extended clips and rewards those who do) And yeah, the elephant in the room is that EA owns Respawn, but they seem to have their hands out of this one unlike Anthem, which already appears to be a full-priced game with microtransactions. This game does the MTs just like Fortnite, which is totally ok in my book. You can play the game perfectly well with them and enjoy them if you get them.    … Expand

This game is designed from the ground up to be a 3-man squad shooter/survival experience, so there's no solo mode and queueing up with a group of random people is going to be... rough. Communication, capability, precision, and a little luck is what you need working in tandem to win a game, even just getting to the top 3 squad showdown at the end. Playing by yourself is risky, to say the least. I find myself an above-average player for shooters and survival games and I have a hard time making it more than a few minutes beyond the initial drop if my team dropped anywhere near another team. Playing with a group of friends completely changes the outcome - I typically make top 10 most of the time (haven't landed the #1 spot as of writing this review). Everything about this game looks promising but I don't think it's ready for primetime. Simply not having a solo mode is a mild turnoff and simply copying and pasting the Titanfall universe content and pasting it into a BR map lacks imagination and I'm surprised to accuse Respawn Entertainment of that since Titanfall was fairly creative and unique. There's also only one map at launch and it gets old after a while if you're going to binge this game. Oh, it's only 60 players total which, depending on whether teams fan out or condense at the start, feels like a low population cap as there are games where my team would see zero other players until the final phases. Apex Legends is a nice foundation but it has a lot of work to do in order to really challenge PUBG and Fortnite for BR dominance. It feels a lot like Call of Duty's Blackout mode and that's another problem that surfaces - this game exists already within COD Black Ops 4. Apex Legends might be free to play but a load of people were already playing BO4 and it seems to me that people were fairly happy with Blackout. To put it simply: Apex Legends wants to stand out but after 10 hours of play I don't think it does. If it weren't free I'd never buy it. I have some fun with it and I am confident that RE will work to deepen the experience (classes are very limited at launch and desperately need to be expanded upon) but as of the time of writing this review I don't think Apex Legends is anything more than a flash in the pan. I could be wrong but it comes out during a busy games season that include The Division 2 and Anthem which will be launched just a few weeks after Apex Legends was made available.… Expand

    I use to love Apex allot, religiously played on it for many seasons. However now season 7 is here, it has become tripe to say the least. Landing then looting you dont get a good weapon, why?...its like a fame of rock, papers, scissors, its getting deleted, because its CRAP.

    Best free game and best battle royale in history so far. The gameplay is super smooth. My only criticism would be the skill based matchmaking, which as a solo queue player, leaves me with suicidal teammates and enemy squads that drip sweat. It would be nice to allow all players off all skill levels to actually duke it out in each casual game. Leave the balanced skill levels to ranked play.

I like that you get to pick a unique character that has it's own personality. The mechanics are precise and on point. I've had a ton of fun with this game and haven't spent a single dollar.     - Still unbalanced weapons after several months of release.
    - Lag (even with my 250mbps+ internet) makes you lose gun fights because their servers blow. Even though they are making millions off this **** title.
    - Microtransaction fest to get customization items...
    - One map that people have already begun to find abuses in.

So far, there have been some casualties (looking at you Radical Heights), but every game knocked out of the competition eases the path of the juggernauts (looking at you Fortnite) to claim that chicken dinner/victory royale/etc. But newcomer APEX Legends (which dropped on February 4th, 2019) has not only avoided being knocked out by its stiff competition, it’s grabbed some heavy artillery and shotgunned its way to that final ring.

    Technical
    Developer Respawn has certainly done their homework when it comes to crafting an appealing gaming experience that rewards daily play but pleases the player by the minute. Playing on the PS4, I encountered very few hiccups with most of my problems stemming from network connections. There is seemingly a dependable laggy beginning to each game with avatars stuttering and puttering to the ground. Usually, that lag does not continue must after touching ground, but it is noticeable. The frame-rate stays pretty constant and the controls are tight, allowing for each match to feel like a failure on the player’s part and not the game’s. I was dropped from a game once due to a crash in the game, but since recent updates, I have not encountered that problem a second time.

    Presentation
    At first glance of APEX, it’s easy to make the comparison to its two biggest competitors. It has the cartoonish aesthetic similar to Fortnite and blends it with the realistic/militaristic look of PUBG. While sharing elements of both game’s design choices, it carves out a look and feel of its own. The world looks like it COULD exist but probably doesn’t which makes each round feel like playing in a make-believe fantasy rather than a dire warzone. The game’s avatars, called “Legends”, all benefit from this design aesthetic too. They all have relatable, recognizable traits but at the same time look like they were once sketches existing in a high schoolers notebook: they look like larger-than-life people born to wreck shop in a shoot and loot competition. The game is colorful and fun which is missing from a lot of entertainment these days. It’s nice to login to a world that is fully realized and rekindles the memories of playing with GI Joe’s or watching saturday morning cartoons.

    Gameplay
    Now, any Battle Royale is going to live or die by its gameplay, specifically how much we’re rewarded for sticking with the game. Luckily, APEX has hit that sweet spot (initially at least, since as of this review, its Battle Pass has yet to launch) with cosmetic items being able to be won through good-ole grinding or with real money through the ingame store. Luckily, no one is able to buy a game-winning weapon or perk, so everyone is always on an even playing field. There are two unlockable Legends, but they are no more capable of winning a game than the other base six characters. Earning them through leveling up is satisfying and doesn’t take too long. The game also rewards each level up with a currency called “crafting metal” which allows players to make skins and items to customize their banners (similar to a business card shown before each match). At this point, many of the skins and customizers are not “must-haves”, the player doesn’t feel left out or fears being called a “no-skin”. Beyond the look of the game, the feel of it is great too. As mentioned before, the controls are tight with each of the games character possessing a unique ability that allows each of the characters to perform differently while still feeling equal to the others. Some characters allow for mid fight healing while others can call for cover fire. Some characters can teleport amidst the field and others can create bulletproof barriers. No one ability is a sure-win as they do have to be played creatively and tactically, so the game often feels like a rock-paper-scissors duel among machine gun fire and frag grenades. Each match feels so fun and rewarding that as my squad falls, I leave the match ASAFP to join the next game matching up.

    Conclusion
    This game is going to change. Characters will be nerf’d; the map will change; new characters will cause balancing issues; and new guns and abilities will eventually change the way we play. Oh yeah, and money, we will all likely be spending money on this game. But Respawn has laid down incredible groundwork that should give players reason to relax and embrace the change knowing it’ll be for the better. This is a game that everyone should be playing or at least trying (it’s free-to-play, c’mon). The game is fresh and offers variety to a tried and true model, and has legit promise to make this a game fit to last years. Give it a try.    … Expand

As it is a Battle Royale there are RNG elements that can make winning and losing based on luck instead of skill, but that’s part of the fun.
    As I mentioned, Apex is the most fun playing in a full party of friends. Playing with random can be hit and miss, if you get a good team who are willing to work together you can get some good games and wins. If you’re matched with morons, who run off, get killed and repeatedly ping themselves, the game can be a nightmare.
    It’s odd that they never added a solo mode, which would have been great for those times you want to go at the game alone.
    I stopped playing after season 1 and have recently in 2020 got back into Apex. There have been some noticeable improvements, new heroes, a new map and map changes to the original map. There are new modes, timed modes, ranked mode and challenges. These updates have all improved the game and made it feel fresh.
    On the downside, the servers can be choppy at times, resulting in lag spikes, packet loss, poor hit detection and magic bullets. In a Battle Royale this is not acceptable. In a game where you have one life the servers really need to be better. Dieing because your bullets wont register or you receive all bullet data in one packet, resulting in almost instant death can be very very frustrating.
    This happens at random, you can have a week of great games and connection and then suddenly you’ll have a night of frustration when these issues very noticeably happen.
    The Apex store is weak. The items aren’t particularly interesting, they’re overpriced and there’s a very strange system in place using 3 types of currency. One of them is completely useless and can only be spent when a new hero is released, this is the currency you get the most of, so you end up with 1000’s of these credits with nothing to spend it on.
    Loot packs are rarely unlocked and usually contain junk, so there’s no desire to spend extra money on them. The season pass is okay, but there’s often nothing worth doing the tedious grind for.
    All in all though, Apex is a fun game, the core design is solid and when it works can be exceptional.    … Expand

    Out of all the battle royal games out there, Apex Legends is the most fun I've played. The game's PING system is probably it's most innovative feature as it allows you to communicate with your teammates without ever having to use a mic. This is great for people who don't like chatting with randoms online. Plus, the game is free to play, so there is no excuse for not giving this game a shot.

    Smart and clear ping system - it works fine.
    Absolutely comfortable to play with other random players without a voice chat, I thought this does not happen.

It "borrows" few things from Titanfall 1-2 but just fails to make me play for longer than 1-2 sessions. It is way too fast-paced for movement and way to slow in-betweenI don't understand this game.     Horrible, recoil-less, shield shooting game with no permanent solo BR experience. Every time I squad in this game my team gets destroyed. And lastly, the devs think free to play users are leechers/freeloaders. If they hate them so much, then the ****ing game shouldn't have been free.

The skills of the legends are freaking awesome. The gameplay, graphics, and gunplay are 10/10 but sadly it has some serious issues.     Free to play, battle royale, first person shooter...I was not expecting to enjoy Apex as much as I have. The controls are great, and gameplay is smooth. I give this game a 9 - if there were more than 1 mode, I'd bump it to 10, but the same map and mode get a little old after a few hours

    An interested Battle Royale approach with character abilities. Since the game's launch, Respawn has been listening to their community: adding ranked mode, solo/dual mode, seasonal skins for characters and weapons.

    After trying to play this type of game (Fortnite, PUBG, etc), Apex Legends is the first BR that I really enjoy.

    Apex Legends is played in teams of three and you really feel that it was designed with teams in mind:
    + the ping System is the best i've ever seen and it makes you wonder why other games haven't done it already, since you can easily communicate everything with just a press of a button, no microphone or chat required (I've had pretty much whole conversations going on by just using the ping system
    + also the revive System is brilliant, as it means if you die you can be respawned (with no loot) and are not doomed to just spectate for the rest of the match
    + the heroes (or legends as they call them) have decent abilities that allow for complex strategies where for example the tank, healer and damage dealer can be devestating when smartly combining their abilities
    + during drops a leader is appointed who can coordinate the team while landing

    Now with all the pro's out of the way, let's get to the cons:
    Since my friends don't play Apex i have to play with randoms, which led to some unpleasant experiences:
    - despite being a team shooter you will find a number of idiots who will abandon the squad and go on solo trips, who will never mark items and enemies or communicate what they are doing and will never go out of their way to help you and just leave the match if they get downed. These people who are playing it like a solo game are ruining the fun for everyone. Maybe the developer should include a solo mode just for these egomaniacs eventhough solo would be much less fun
    - sometimes there is server lag and connection issues
    - new players being placed in squads with experienced players is a problem since they usually have no idea what's going on and at best get carried along and at worst sabotage the whole team. The game needs are more in depth tutorial (currently it's only 5 minutes long) or a dedicated starter map or starter server for noobs to get accustomed to the game.
    - Apex has lootboxes with cosmetics similar to Overwatch

    Overall Apex Legends has massive potential and a really solid basis. It's the best battle royale game despite being free to Play. However, as great as the team play is, having a trash team can completely ruin the experience and will most propably get you killed (having to solo against a team of three is not really a fair match up). The developer needs to adress this in some way or form.
    Update: by now they have added the option to remain in squads after a match, which makes it much easier to find and stick with good team mates. Unfortunately season 1 hasn't received great content so far. The only worthwhile thing about season one is a new playable character. I feel like the developer needs to do more to keep players engaged    … Expand

    Like any free to play game it is hampered by bugs and server issues however it is the best BR game or best free to play game or currently the best fps game to date. This game truly defined the multiplayer fps experience.

    I generally loathe multiplayer, but thank god I downloaded it on the first day, so I don't have that "came too late to a party" feeling like with every other (and I mean EVERY) multiplayer. Perfect pacing, perfect gunplay, never boring. The fact that it forces you to teamplay is the wiser aspect of it.

Even with this though i entered Apex later than others, I wasn't too enticed by a game made by the devs of Titanfall and owned by EA. I made it to diamond during the first ranked season. I love the variety and skill set of legends, the lore, I love king's canyon and the recent Grand Soirée event. Season 4 hit, however, and just about everything went downhill:

    1. You can no longer solo queue without playing death simulator. If you choose to (and notably, your overall skill is above average), you'll find yourself in lobbies filled to the brim with three stacks/premades. There is just no way you, your random teammates xX420Gamer420Xx and SmolBoi1 can take on a three stack diamond/predator squad who are in a private chat over discord, treating a public match like scrims. Why solo players continue to face three stack/premades in Apex is beyond me. This is the biggest issue for me, because I have effectively quit playing because of this one attribute. Very disappointed that this gets ignored.

    2. SBMM isn't working. 1-5 seconds of so-called "matchmaking" is like throwing a pile of laundry at the floor and hoping they sort themselves into nicely folded piles. It has a higher chance of working for socks or undergarments, but it will never work for a dress shirt, for example. Higher players are all lumped together into lobbies (regardless of the skill gap between pros and above avg. players) because, again, 1-5 sec matchmaking doesn't create balanced lobbies at high skill levels.

    3. Bugs everywhere. The infamous "dashboarding" exploit (quitting ranked in a way that avoids RP loss) was in this game for 2 ranked series (7 months). Season 3 comes around, and they "soft fix" this issue, however, there's an entirely new bug that confuses one of your previous season's final rank with your current rank, creating two separate ranks for some players. At the most extreme, this hiccup places higher players in lower ranked lobbies, undermining ranked as a competitive mode. Let's see-- there's an invisibility bug where bangalore is invisible from the shoulders down from 20 yards away. Muzzle flash continues to blind players indoors while using iron sights (typically with an R99 or L-star). There is constant crashing on some PCs. There is no loss forgiveness if you quit a game early when you were not given teammates at the start. Footsteps cease to exist if too many sounds are present around you, meaning you could be healing and an enemy will drop 3 ft. behind you and you won't hear them. Pathfinder can zipline or run right next to you and you won't hear them. This leads to more frustrating randomness, will you hear an enemy this game or not?

    4. The worst servers I've seen in a game. 20-tick servers, constant lag = RNG as to who gets a hit reg and who doesn't. Every so often you get into a slow-mo servers, doubling each in-game second.

    5. Unbalanced weapons/legends. Peacekeeper regularly hits for 99 damage with a single shot, downing players with top armor in less than a second. G7 scout + light ammo (it was conveniently removed from the new sniper category this season) = players can spam shots at up to 20 bullets a clip, and all it takes is 3-4 headshots to down you (who in their right mind would choose a different rifle?). We've gone 2 seasons (7 months) without any changes to more than half of the legends, meanwhile Gibralter gets around 5 passives and continues to get inexplicably buffed. Pathfinder, Wraith, Wattson continue to be top contenders in games. Side note: if you make all of your changes based on the entire playerbase's data and never look at the competitive scene or above average lobbies, then you will get skewed ideas of what to buff/nerf each patch (not that there are any!).

    6. Communication and the iron crown fiasco. Some devs wouldn't hold their tongue and stooped down to the level of some (probably 13 year old) users on reddit, resulting in a public apology by Respawn's CEO. This just fanned the flames in my view. You can't have any dialogue on any of these social media platforms anymore. Do I blame the devs and not the ones who kept insulting them? Of course not. But some professionalism, etiquette, maturity goes a long way. Instead of engaging those who are most "toxic," engage those who are most willing to understand and are able to change their own views. Now, anyone who so much as errs on the side of (constructive) criticism is told to uninstall and play something else. This only hurts the game in the long run, because those of us who actually want the best are told to leave.

    tl;dr Season 0-2 - 9/10, all around fun and exciting ranked and pub games. Wide range of players to engage with, great communication from the devs.

    Season 4 - 3/10, can't even solo queue anymore due to being placed against three stacks almost every game. Rarely play more than 5 games before signing off and hoping we hear more from the devs.    … Expand

The weapons are mostly the same from Titanfall 2, with some new additions and some of the old ones are gone, but their is a great variety of unique, stylish weapons to choose from. The shooting is mostly the same as well, and of course it is buttery smooth and precise. The heroes are obviously the biggest part of this game and they are great. Their isn't many of them but each one has a unique role to play and various abilities to help your team or destroy the enemies. The enhanced focus on team-play is a huge change of pace and is greatly welcomed. The map isn't to huge but each area is filled with a different location and the environments are all varied. This game is also very daring, introducing more in depth respawn systems and sliding to move around the map fast. The progression system is pretty good as well and decent stuff can be earned pretty quickly but the heroes feel like a grind. Unfortunately the game doesn't offer much outside of the one mode that it has. I am sure the lack of other content will be fixed but i wish it had a little more out the gate.     As a person who played an insane amount of Titianfall 2 at first I was a little angry that respawn jumped on the battle royal train to probably make a quick buck but I wanted to see their take on it and I highly recommend it is very fun to play with friends and to get to know the characters and choose the ones you like most.

    This game is leaps and bounds better than Fortnite and slightly better than COD Blackout, plus it's free. Visually the game is appealing with nothing really to interesting to look at besides the dinosaurs in the distance. The made is nice but feels small after a couple of games. The gun play is OK as the guns have ridiculously small magazines and clips. Hit markers are off a little as certain characters are impossible to hit as they strafe. There are plenty of guns to choose from but the initial landing seems like a pain as guns are not abundant at certain locations. For example I looted 5 houses in a village area and found zero guns. Character classes are kinda lame and I wish they would have stuck with a create a class system similar to Titanfall. Outside of that, this game is addicting and a lot of fun to play with friends. When playing solo with random people it can be frustrating but the new ping system helps.… Expand

    I like how very smooth the game is. I like how the guns feel. I like the variety of the locations. I like the variety of guns. I like the attachments I can put on the guns. I like the armor and health system. I like the gold rarity. I win a lot. Out of all the battle royale games, I prefer this one. But I would rather not play battle royale games though.

    Purely from a gameplay perspective, it’s the best first person battle royale title out there, and well worth dipping into a year on. It’s disappointing that Titanfall 3 seems further away than ever, but for now Apex Legends will do just as well.

    Apex Legends spices up the battle royale formula with hero-based shooter pizazz and its revolutionary pinging system, which helps everyone feel welcome to the team. Though its Season One rollout has been disappointing content-wise and its visual flair remains bland, Apex Legends still has the solid foundation necessary for a free-to-play shooter to survive in the long run. And with 50 million players reached in its first month, it's not like it's slowing down anytime soon. We're all jumpmasters now.

    There are many free to play Battle Royale games out there that are vying for your attention, but Apex Legends takes the genre to new heights with its superb gunplay, Moreish game loop and a superb communication mechanic.
