    A pretty decent and exciting take on the Battle Royale formula! Apex Legends basically takes all the cliches of previous battle royales and hero shooters and just shrunk it down drastically. It takes the hero system of Overwatch and Black Ops 4, combines it with Fortnite's squad system, adds in PUBG's weapon and armor system, and has it all take place in the Titanfall universe, and it allA pretty decent and exciting take on the Battle Royale formula! Apex Legends basically takes all the cliches of previous battle royales and hero shooters and just shrunk it down drastically. It takes the hero system of Overwatch and Black Ops 4, combines it with Fortnite's squad system, adds in PUBG's weapon and armor system, and has it all take place in the Titanfall universe, and it all blends together surprisingly well! And there are plenty of other exciting little add ons and twists previous games haven't tried before. Sometimes great games do come in small packages! Let's hope there's more for this new game for the future!… Expand

    Its impossible to have fun in a game that you are forced to play with two random dudes that most of the time are like bots, sometimes they even leave the game and they arent getting punished for that basically if you don't have two friends at the time connected to play it, Just don't do it.

But weapons are ridiculously unbalanced leading to a boring, already-seen shotgun CQC meta. high ttk, too many shieds, and shield regens give endless and messy gunfight in the endgame. Superior RNG loot is king in this game. it is a waste of potential. superior positioning, synergies between legends or tactical gameplay are not rewarded.     I have played it for a day now. I really like the game. At first it looked too much like games I already know, but if you look more closely you will see an unique game which gives it's own twist to the Battle Royale gametype.

But even though I really like the game, there is still some to improve. The skins are not really special, I hope there will come more unique skins (like Fortnite does) in the future. The other thing is that I hope that they will bring new things to the game frequently so it will keep the audience interested. But the core of the game really feels promising.

    Allow me to be clear - I'm not really one way or the other on BR games, games with cosmetic-only MTX, etc., and I'm not salty that Titanfall 3 isn't in the works. With all of that out of the way and off to the side, and having no expectations nor knowledge that this game existed until 2 days ago, this game has impressed me pleasantly.     All of the lowest reviews for this game are not legitimate. You can't rate a game that you're unable to play, or one that you haven't played, or one that you've barely touched. A review should come after deliberate experimentation and trial.

    That being said, I've sunken over 30 hours into this game already in the past several days. I am also someone that has played Fortnite, PUBG, and Blackout to a good extent. I got entirely burned out of the BR genre and had expected that I would never want to play one again. However, I gave this a chance after hearing of other people's surprise by it's quality. After doing so, I learned for myself how incredible it really is. They took almost every good aspect of other BR games, removed the bad, and implemented heap-fulls of new mechanics that make you ask yourself why no one else has thought of putting them into the previous BR games.

    This game focuses on team-play. Many people don't like that they don't have single or two-player modes, but they intentionally didn't include them, it's not that they didn't add them out of laziness. They made the decision that in order to play the game as intended, you need a team of 3, no more, no less. Understanding that fact should make you focus on how to best use and support your team. And they've implemented many new mechanics and tools to help with that team focus, i.e. the new ping system.

    I give this game a solid 10 because of the obvious care that Respawn Entertainment put into this game. True, they have expensive micro-transactions, but because of that, the game is free. You also do not ever need to buy anything in the game. So far, everything that's been in the micro-transaction store has been available for free unlock through just normal playing of the game, even the other Legends (characters).

    This game was done right, and for that, they deserve a better User Score than 6.9 as it stands now. It's only that low because of all of the 0 ratings it's received by those who don't know the purpose of posting a "review" of a game.    … Expand

    It's early days and I'm sure that along the line, there will be updates that improve the game. However, for now, Apex Legends is an extremely fun Battle Royale game with a few interesting twists. But, it is incredibly buggy and limited as of now.

    Although for the time being the mode is available only for three, it doesn’t stop getting pleasure even alone. It is easy to interact with casual players without a microphone using special tags.

    Truth:
    This is not really a Titanfall game. It's just the best Battle Royale Game ever made.

    Very Smooth Gameplay Fast Rounds and lots of Action... Hope the Developer will add more Stuff in the Future.

    Probably the best Battle-royale to-date, it does everything so perfectly you immediately realize, that this game is what you REALLY wanted from Battle-royale genre. It is almost flawless despite being an EA project. The game no one heard about before, that wasn't even advertised turned out to be a huge surprise and a fresh breath to the industry, its simply amazing.

    EA & Respawn took the dynamics of Titanfall, read complaints from Activision's Blackout (COD BOP4) & created an    BEST Battle Royale FPS available right now for PS4, but still feels like it's in Beta mode with the one game type. Very interesting to me that other users are complaining this much about a free-to-play game. All purchases are AESTHETICS only, which in itself earned its rating.

    EA & Respawn took the dynamics of Titanfall, read complaints from Activision's Blackout (COD BOP4) & created an immersive game, right when I thought Battle Royale was on the outs. Very excited to see the extra content that get's added in March, as they have already laid out their plan to add a battle pass with new content basically every three months.

    I remember the good old days when people didnt try and tank games based on what they were instead of how they play.

    After playing for a couple of hours I can already say this feels like a pretty refreshing change up for the BR genre, its plays very much like you would expect a titan fall shoot off game to play so the mechanics are pretty smooth.     The addition of a class system is really nice, anyone who has played overwatch or rainbow 6 will appreciate the idea of team composition and when picking characters and even with a small selection of legends this still comes into play.

    Little things like designating who gets to pick their characters when and the ability to take control of the entire teams drop location means there is a real push on team work.

    Further touches like being able to see the gear level of enemies before trying to look their bodies and possibility of legend revival are all welcome change ups.

    Overall this game has potential and its already pretty polished. Look forward to seeing how this plays out.    … Expand

    I stopped liking PUBG after 500 hours because it'd be either a game that I survived for 3-4 minutes to get killed by someone or a game that would be 10 minutes of me looting, killing some people to then get killed by someone in a ridiculous fight.

    Fortnite would be fast-paced, landing and getting loot decent enough to kill some people, but it would always end up with a guy building a 5-star hotel with wifi killing you or your guns would hit ghost shots.
    Now Apex makes it interesting, the gunplay itself is already fantastic, giving you various guns that are mostly good (apart from the Mozambique) and that provide you with plenty of options to use. Weapons like the Wingman are potent shooters and perfect if you are good at aiming, it is perfect for you. If you are not good at aiming, pick up the G7, as it is a good DMR that shoots quickly and does just enough damage. If you are ok at aiming, pick up the Longbow as it does good damage and has a decent fire rate. That's only one example of how this game gives you many different options, the game also balances SMGs and ARs, by making them have high fire rates and low ammo.
    The game itself is very smooth, two of my friends have quite weak computers, yet they run it amazingly well, never having many problems, (and this is only after five days of launch). The one thing I also love is the pacing of this game, running, sliding, ziplining and flying all feel amazing, but the best part so far for me has been the fights themselves. You have multiple ways to fight with each character. I use Bangalore, and just her some grenades are already enough to make me have numerous ways to play a fight. Cover myself with them, so I get closer, distract them with it, throw it on them so they can't see, throw them behind me so I can run away, throw them onto my teammate to heal them, and that's just the start.

    In short, the game is a masterpiece battle royale wise; it takes everything that is good form many battle royale games and puts it one, it makes you able to have different styles of play, makes gunplay amazing, and is well paced. So in the end, I'm addicted to this.    … Expand

    It's one of the most fun, accessible Battle Royale. It adds something new and every encounter is very fun. It's more original than other BR's and the guns all feel distinctive and fun to use. I particularly like the classes - a nod to Overwatch which really mixes up the gameplay. It's free, therefore you MUST give it a try!

    Give this game a shot. It had great controls, the sound is great. The map is interesting and there are many characters to choose from. I am not so good at BR games but this one has grabbed my attention. It is FTP and it runs smoothly on my ps4 slim.

    The best battle royale ever made is ironically one that is entirely free. Apex Legends is simply a blast to play, whether it's with friends or strangers. The only downside is that the servers sometimes crash. Other than that, this is one of the best games you can possibly try for free.

    Obviously, the comparisons pretty much end with "pre-set Heroes fighting in an ever-smaller map" but it's a solid idea that's executed well by the team that brought us Titanfall. Blizzard should be kicking themselves they didn't launch their roster into a Royale mix a year ago.

    Obviously, the comparisons pretty much end with "pre-set Heroes fighting in an ever-smaller map" but it's a solid idea that's executed well by the team that brought us Titanfall. The map creates a really excellent feel of scale with massive cliffs and canyons to fight and navigate through, large and fairly well-spaced constructs, and solid if familiar weaponry (a fair amount of the weapons are copy/pasted in from Titanfall's exisiting armory).

    I really enjoy the experience, it feels new and fresh relative to the barrage of Battle Royales, as you can truly feel the developer's experience with FPS combat and gunplay here. One of my favorite parts of the game too is the audio design- rifles crack and bullets hiss, and a firefight in a canyon sounds exactly like you'd expect: rolling, booming thunderclaps, the whip-like snaps of distant sniper fire, and if you add in one or two of the artillery-based "ultimate" abilities such as Gibraltar's precision air-strike, you've got a really engrossing visual and acoustic shooter.

    My only hard complaint is that certain character abilities seem to lack general usefulness. While those like lifeline's healbot and Gibraltar's bubble shield are pretty universally helpful, some like Bloodhound's tracking are context-specific.

    Grab two friends, download it, and marvel at how lucky we are that games this polished and well-executed are free.    … Expand

    Something different: a couple have done the "free" game route, a couple have tried the class based route, and all want you to pay for cosmetics, but it doesn't make you feel like you need to pay for those cosmetics and make earning them feel achievable, much like R6:Siege. What this game does different is the 3v60 game mode. This style of BR is truly a wonderful sweet spot.

    I am sure they will add some sort of season pass and other game modes down the line, but with a start like this, it is no surprise that many are hopeful for this games "Expand-off-the-Basics" style and bubbly characters and game play.

    Most importantly, wins in this game actually feel meaningful and Apex legends just further proves, that you don't need to spend 60 dollars on a game for it to be good.    … Expand

    This game is fantastic, it's the only battle royal i genuinely like, but this game has crashed over 15+ times the last 2 days, and has crashed 4 times after the patch today. i really want to play this game more, but honestly, this is an actual issue

The $0 price tag certainly doesn't hurt, and this is probably a game I wouldn't have purchased if it had cost something; however, after playing it for several hours it might be my favorite rendition of theI was pleasantly surprised by Apex Legends. I also like the fact that micro-transactions are aimed at cosmetic changes versus game-changing weapons, abilities, etc. The characters seem well-balanced and are all fun to play with so far. It is an easy game to jump into and play for twenty or thirty minutes or several hours. I am a big fan of both Titanfall games and understand some of the criticism aimed at the omission of Titans and wall running, but I don't really miss them in this game. I would much rather play this than Fortnite or Call of Duty Black Ops 4.

    Trash, I fear the road gaming is headed to. This types of games are Trash and I cannot understand what people see in them. I tried Fornite.... stupidest thing I wasted a day on. I tried this crap and its just as bad. How are these things popular? Some one please Explain. I dont get it.

    Haven't been addicted to a game like this since, well, Fortnite. Steady loot drops, diverse characters, and a quick return to action after death is a recipe for success in the genre. Plus, it looks stunning.

    Yes this is 10x better, full disclosure i hate battale royale games, but this game is actually good, very well polished and not trash like 99.999999% of what the market is spewing out ATM.

    Sadly that is it. The server management is horrible. 60 ping in 1 game then 200 ping for the next. Its gameplay (especially in Ass Canyon and Openlympus) is either:

    1. Find nobody until 10 squads left then after you find and fight 1, the 3rd 4th 5th 69th party comes for your necks
    2. You drop hot and die early game (if you survive the hot drop it would be the same as 1, that is the peak experience for the game)

    I am so tired of the game right now that I moved to a game that prioritizes winning over getting high kills (Valorant). The game is too casual right now (its just for the kills) unlike Valorant which is probably the FPS game with the highest competitive integrity right now. I am new to the game right now and there is no agent that you can play properly without some mastery unlike in Apex a lot of legends (Octane (especially with Revenant), Bloodhound, Seer, Caustic, and Gibraltar just to name a few) are too noob friendly and also the guns (L-Star, Rampage, Charge Rifle, Devotion (especially with Turbocharger) and R301 just to name a few also). Also, there are some annoying braindead legend combinations like the infamous RevTane (its nerfed now but still braindead)

    I also don't like the ranked system. There should be no "freebie rank" in any competitive game but in Apex the real ranked experience starts at Platinum. The consequence at losing in Bronze, Silver, and Gold is just not punishing. You can troll 5 straight games hotdrop and die first then on your 6th game you win the game and every "punishment" you had gets erased. On mid elo and high elo a lot of players just hide for RP until they can get an actual good game - making the system "grind over skill". A player who rats a lot and has horrendous aim and gamesense could get to Plat while a player who has decent aim and decent gamesense could be hardstuck gold because they take fights a lot and get 3rd partied a lot in the process. The ranked system doesn't promote playing smartly. You either rat, grief others while giving up your positioning, or be the one griefed.

    Lastly, the lack of content. Dry af. At this pace, the game is gonna die.

    This game was my favorite FPS at one point but it just stinks right now. I no longer grind it. There is just no reason to. I just play it casually and occasionally. Oh about Arenas. I forgot about it just like the majority of the playerbase.

    TL;DR = Probably has the worst servers in any multiplayer game right now. Ranked system is ass. Meta is braindead. Olympus and Kings Canyon are bad maps. Worlds Edge is good for ranked but also ass for pubs. Storm Point is boring af. Best BR? Yes. By far. Best FPS? No. By far    … Expand

I suspect this game might feel a lot different for PC players, and as time goes on the lack of content might shorten its lifespan. But as of the week of its launch, ApexConsidering the game is free-to-play (with only cosmetic microtransactions) and as a console player, this is by far my favorite battle royale game, and the only one that's managed to hold my attention for over 20 hours. I suspect this game might feel a lot different for PC players, and as time goes on the lack of content might shorten its lifespan. But as of the week of its launch, Apex Legends is a innovative and polished take on a genre that seemed to be running out of space.

    The thing I want to commend the most in this game is its communication system. Players can 'ping' items, weapons, gear, enemies, and locations in a style similar to spotting enemies in the Battlefield series. It's very easy and intuitive, which means that players are actually using it often. As a console player who most often plays with randoms, the boost to co-operation has been dramatic. By far Apex Legends greatest strengths lie in the ways it feeds information to the player and allows information to be shared between squad mates.

    The map design is at least on par with Fortnite or BLOPS4 Blackout, but I'd argue the map feels more dense due to verticality but also a fair amount of tunnels and shortcuts to explore and exploit. It is challenging to learn all the vantage points you are vulnerable to at any given point, but once familiarity sets in each area presents a satisfying geographical challenge. The map is definitely smaller than those two games, but is more interesting.

    Traversal is a big difference in this game, since it lacks Fortnite's springboards or Blackout's vehicles. And it might surprise some that not only are titans missing but even wallrunning from Respawn's Titanfall series. But in my view it lends the game a more grounded feel, aside from the occasional zip-line. So, yes, you mostly just run around the map in Apex Legends but it doesn't seem tedious as much as it is tense.

    The shooting is great even if it's not my personal favorite style. Respawn devs used to make Call of Duty, and they carry over a style of shooting that is hyper-accurate and almost recoil-less. I prefer Battlefield's sloppier shooting, where each gun feels a bit different. That being said, hitboxes here are solid and the weapon selection is more than adequate. Also, on-site upgrades help mix it all up a bit.

    So give this game a try! My first few hours I wasn't very convinced as it felt like any other BR game. But I found myself coming back and now I can see myself coming back to this regularly as long as more characters and weapons come to the game.    … Expand

Apex legends gun mechanics are tight and the individual characters all feel unique and balanced. I was initially concerned about the loot box system within the game, however after seeing how they where implemented it was clear it wasn't a repeat of EA's battlefront2. É quase tão inovador como o sistema de construção do Fortnite (eu disse quase).
    Existem ainda algumas correções para serem feitas, afinal é um jogo sem beta, como algum abalaçamento nas armas. Também tem pouco respawn de arma (lembra um pouco PubG no início). Mas o jogo tem um potencial danado.

    While it will undoubtedly get additional "keep you tethered to a leash" patches to smooth out rough edges and the most meager of content scraps to keep its Pavlovian player base coming back for more, ultimately there is not enough meat on its bones to compete with much more notable games that it leans on such as COD, Overwatch, PubG, Fortnite, Destiny, and the upcoming Anthem. The most it can hope for is much the same of the rest of the Titanfall franchise. Flash in the pan type fan base that flares up quickly and fades away under the glut of "the next big thing" type of releases vying to be a temporary distraction from the established "leaders" that ethletes will yoyo back to after they see what is different and not be compelled to give up their status in their chosen base esport.

On the other hand, it is a completely soulless, overmonetized project published by (gasp) EA, that yes, should have been Titanfall 3.

    The Titanfall franchise is arguably the greatest online PVP FPS    I am very split on Apex Legends. On one hand, it is the best battle royale currently on the market made by a developer studio that has time and time again proven that they know their stuff. On the other hand, it is a completely soulless, overmonetized project published by (gasp) EA, that yes, should have been Titanfall 3.

    The Titanfall franchise is arguably the greatest online PVP FPS game of the 8th generation of consoles. Titanfall 1 made huge strides in bringing some much needed diversity and creativity to the genre, while Titanfall 2 takes everything that made the first game so great and expanded and improved upon it. It added an actual single-player campaign, and a great one at that. Titanfall Assualt was a one-off mobile game that released in 2017, but it is a very loose relation and it should not be tied to the two other main games in the franchise.

    And here we are. 2019, and we did not get Titanfall 3, but instead a multiplayer only, always online battle royale game. There is no single player campaign following the events of Titanfall 2, there are no Titans, and the movement that made the previous game so great is largely absent. The disclusion of these things is baffling, and I have a feeling that EA felt that they should play it safe instead of innovating in the genre that needs innovation most.

    Titans in the game could have been implemented in one or both of these ways:

    1. Each character has a unique titan on a cooldown separate from their L1 and L1 + R1 abilities
    2. There are titans scattered all around the map in various high-loot locations

    The Titans would have to be far weaker than in previous entries, only having about 1/3 of the health and take damage from all weapons. Their firepower would have to be significantly toned down as well, with their various weapons only doing the damage of normal weapons, if not slightly more. The inclusion of Titans would not only add depth and longevity to the game, but it would make the game a more fun experience for everyone.

    Advanced movement such as the movement present in Titanfall 2 would alleviate one of the major problems that I and many others have with Battle Royale games in general: the map being too large. Large maps mean long stretches of mindless moving from location to location, and if Titanfall 2's momentum-transferring system was implemented straight into Apex Legends, the game would be infinitely more involved.

    A campaign in a battle royale game has not been done before to my knowledge (No, I do not count Fortnite, as the campaign was not created with a battle royale mode in mind), and there is incredible potential for one here. Imagine the possibility for individual character backstories and how Respawn could give us more reason to care about the "why" behind the battle royale mode. These two modes could be tied in incredibly, and once again, the relationship between the Pilot and the Titan would be a main focus of the story. There is arguably even more potential for amazing setpieces here, as the campaign could even see you and your titan working your way through the Battle Royale map. Future Battle Royale maps could also mean future side stories as the game gets new content.

    However, I need to give credit where credit is due, and the weapons all have that feel that only Respawn could deliver. A large portion of the game's arsenal of weapons and grenades are brought in from previous Titanfall games, which, of course, it's a shame that we didn't get completely new weapons, but I am satisfied with the new ones that we received. The new Prowler SMG and Peacekeeper Shotgun were particularly satisfying, and the Arc Star rework was unnecessary but appreciated.

    The way that armor was implemented is a breath of fresh air for the genre, as it is noticeably more abundant. Inventory space has also been increased from games such as Fortnite, and can be increased further with higher quality backpacks. This is a great change, allowing for more tools to be carried by players to use in combat or otherwise.

    The mechanic which allows for a shield to be put up when your legend is in a critical state is completely pointless. Melee attacks negate the shield completely, and most people only wait to kill off critically wounded enemies until they are out of combat, if they do so at all.

    Monetization is another area where the game falls short. There is no progression system to be found; any and all cosmetics obtained must be either bought with IRL currency or obtained through a slot machine. It seems that no matter how much EA is scolded for their anti-consumer policies, they turn around a week later and stuff even more of them into their games.

    So overall, I would have to give this game a 5/10. Respawn's creativity and vision for this IP is at times overshadowed by EA's greed and unflinching agenda.    … Expand

    The most primitive and simple decision based on marketer advices. Games should be made by genius designers, not marketers.

    So, you decided, that gamers are way to stupid and primitive and chose to make game based on marketing triggers-only. Okay...

    It would be pretty subjective, because I should judge only Apex Legends as a game itself, but I'd do -4 points for your attitude towards gamers.

    SECOND PART: Game itself

    Pluses: Battle Royale can't really excite in 2019. But still can evolve and enhance the experience. Obvious advantages of Apex Legends are team-work(R1/RB-controls, pointing-system, squad-focus) and inventory. You've proven that you actually CAN create a high-quality typical complex ARMA/DAYZ/Tarkov/Any other regular tactical shooter inventory on consoles. It's only about good UX designers you hire. Level design is good as well. One main map offers very different tactical zones that change experience, gameplay, navigation and tactics in general.

    Minuses: something's wrong with the beginning and balance. Sometimes i got killed with only couple of shots while I'm fully armored, full-HP, and also shoot enemy with upgraded close-quarters gun and still got killed without any chances. This **** happens all the time. No matter how well-upgraded you are. There are to many random and injustful deaths no matter how hard you try. it's 100% isn't the matter of bad skill or bad equipment. It's just kinda feels randomly. I also killed full-loaded player with regular pistol with couple of shots without armor. A was taking bullets from Shotgun all the time in close range. What the heck?

    I mean, you really need to fix net-code ASAP.

    And also. Awful character roster. More than half of players are women. It isn't about sexism, but making a shooter/military game where women are in priority - it's kinda looks not okay. I litrally can't take that picture of war, even if it's comic-like and in science-fiction setting. Pay some respect to men who are dying to give their mothers, sisters and daughters a life.

    CONCLUSION:

    Point? What is the point of this game? It really has solid advantages over other BR and is well-polished. But you still could put all these ideas into one big Titanfall 3 game. BR could have helped to increase the popularity of the series. I do understand, that original balance for regular game modes doesn't fit a regular Battle Royale criterias.     so here we are.. Titanfall 3 was sacrificed on the altar of comerce after titanfall2 was such a good single player game. but thats not what EA wants from a game they want player driven content free of any burden to write story or to create cutscenes and develop a plot. SO here we are.. the newest clone of Fortnite and overwatch minus the builder function but as a hero shooter.

    i am very sure it will find its fans since the shooter is actually workig and functioning quite well.
    apart from some inconveniences like not being able to play the tutorial as something other than the medic its been a solid but very limited experience on launch day.. the fact that its free to play further sparks the spreading of that title, its for players that have been too late for the Fortnite bandwaggon and want to start their own hobby as a streamer and "contentcreator" in a desperate shot to make this a living and somehow be the one of the guys that can generate an income with that new game.. (make no guess about it, the game even has the tools for them build in from launch.. )

    (i wished the servers of Anthem would have been as thoroughly tested for the vip demo than the server architecture of the robust apex legends launch. But also do not mistake this as anythign other than it is.. it is a pocket money dispenser , aimed at your money for skins and cosmetic upgrades.. which is fine in it self and i really hope on the one hand that respawn gets the money they need to finally make that titanfall 3 game but i also fear that if Apex makes too much money , EA will force Respawn to stick with that boring system.

    dont get me wrong, if YOU like Battle royale, its awesome for you.. i dont play video games to make my character look like dipped in pink ink with bright green weapon skins. and i do not need to compete in video games tohave a sense of "accomplishment".. i am not a PvP guy and i find very little interest in those game modes compared to a captive story driven environment like for example Halo, "Last of us" or "Enslaved, odyssey to the west".. and similar games..

    so i would love to see more of those games and less of those games that should be an offsrping of those.. i dont mind the multiplayer mode in Last of us, or in Tombraider, since the actual game is there.. but carving out a game mode and selling it as a complete game is shoddy and has brought us the pvp modes of a proper Star wars titles as stand alone desasters in the past and will continue so in the future if people will continue buying into it.

    TL:DR: Apex Legends is technically solid, but has no innovation we havent already seen in the last year, and is clearly create to have EA tap into that lucrative Battle royale market..    … Expand

    Initially, I wasn't thrilled with the relative lack of mobility as compared to Titanfall, but Respawn gave valid reasons why they didn't include it, and technically this isn't a Titanfall game, just set in the same universe. It took a bit, but I got used to the lack of wall running and double jumping and am okay with it now.

    The gameplay is relatively fast, after getting used to the interface and how the game plays (never played a BR game before) it's pretty well laid out and not overwhelming, with a lot of quality of life features that streamline the experience to allow me to concentrate on the gameplay. The Ping system is also great, even useful when you do have mics.

    This really does feel like a labor of love from Respawn, as EA was not actually involved in the development aside from funding the game. Respawn wanted to make this and the effort they put in shows, I just hope they can continue to provide updates and content enough to keep the game going strong. As I see it, this game will just help to get more people introduced into the Titanfall universe, which will help whatever future Titanfall game Respawn decides to make.    … Expand

Every 4 seconds a connection error, rubber band, or about every other game the game crashes. I have high speed internet and great pings. I will change this to a 10 if the servers ever get fixed along with crashing. Right now i'm very disappointed.     EA has made an attempt to cash in on the popular trend that is Fortnite by rushing out their own Battle Royale. But unfortunately, this game is just a rushed attempt to steal some of Fortnites fame plauged with microtransactions and lootboxes, in classic EA style. Imagine Overwatch, but with only 1 mode and you have to purchase some heroes. It's abismal, and they could've done better.

    The ping system is by far the game's greatest achievement. It allows you to communicate a wide array of information to your teammates with the simple press of a button. You no longer need to cross your fingers and hope everyone on your squad has a mic when jumping into a match with randoms. Apex Legends makes it surprisingly easy to coordinate without saying a single word. A good thing as the entire package is built around grouping up.

    You'll find no solo options here. It's you and two other people all the way. A concept that's made a little more interesting thanks to the 8 playable "Legends" characters (6 of which are available from the start) that each have their own unique abilities. With no one on your squad being able to select the same character it's up to you to choose the one that best complements whoever your teammates picked all while finding the one that best suits your playstyle.

    All of this mixed with the smaller player count compared to its contemporaries and Titanfall's excellent gunplay should have been an easy recipe for success. However, Apex Legends is something of an unpolished mess when it comes to server stability. Which means whenever I'm not suffering through an obscene amount of lag, I'm regularly losing my connection to the match all together just as things start to get good. Even when booting it up for the first time I can see the game struggling with simple character animations in the main menu. Obviously, this isn't an issue for everyone as I've seen plenty of people who have been able to climb high in the ranks, but I honestly don't believe that it's just my internet connection as I can play the technical dumpster fire that is Fallout 76 with next to no issues. As it stands, there are a lot of good ideas in this battle royale, but for me and others I'm sure it's currently in a state that's unplayable.    … Expand

    I have to admit that I like the overall game because of those features: playing in small groups is a lot of fun and can create a lot of different situations and the heroes having useful abilities helps making the gameplay varied - even though not all heroes are as good, like Caustic being very situational and Gibraltar being very mediocre despite being my most played legend.

    The shooting feels satisfying and I like the weapons that can be upgraded with attachments: makes for a very good way to keep your weapons without tossing old ones, and you can customize them in many ways.

    And the arenas are well done, I really enjoy their diversity and it feels like little battlezones, where you need to remember where's who.

    So why am I giving such a low score? Because the game has, for now, a major issue with teamplayers leaving the game too soon and forcing you to stay with 2, or even alone, especially on pc. I stopped counting the matches where my team just left and I was alone or with 2 members left and in a game about team it can be very hard to win by yourself. However, despite this happening also on ps4, on pc is probably the worst offender: I almost never play a match with my entire team online and as soon as someone dies they leave the game. It's also too common to be left alone entirely which makes the game harder for wrong reasons. And sadly there's no punishment for leaving too early: you can leave at any time and have no repercussions about it, so if you team dies within seconds of landing they'll probably just leave, despite being able to respawn them.

    Again, it's a problem on all versions, but I played plenty on ps4 and pc and so far the pc seems to have the worst case of this problem, while on ps4 it seems tame in comparison. For those reasons I'm going to stick with the ps4 version and just play on pc on occasion. Insert your "PC master race vs console peasant" jokes here.

    when that issue will be solved, in a way or another, then I'll probably return to pc and play it more. Right now I'm just tired to play solo in a BR game...because I can always download fortnite or buy pubg for that.    … Expand

Instead of just going in solo (which is an invitation to have a bad time) the game puts you in squads, making communication more important then ever. But even if you don't have a mic, you can still ping an item, gun, or an enemy!     I never liked Fortnite and i never came around to play Pugs but this game i wanted to try because it came from developers who created Call Of Duty franchise. Graphics are beautiful with huge map and diversified landscape. excellent frame rates on PS4 Pro and I enjoy playing in a squad.     For the record, I never cared for a battle royal shooter and couldn't imagine playing one for a longer time. I did try the BO4 battle royal and fortnite, but not for me. And than Apex came along ... The core gameplay is a mix of CoD Blackout and Titanfall, you can frantically run and slide and climb walls just like in those games. The game has launched successfully, but it has issues.

    This game is very tough for solo players. You are forced to play in squads of 3 people (there is no solo mode at the moment), and if you haven't brought friends to co-ordinate with you'll be at a big disadvantage vs everyone else playing in a squad with teammates and comms. The frantic pace of the game means there is no room for being tactical, it's more about run n' gun. The current roster of Legends is horrible. But the ultimate sin is that 2 of the currently available Legends (Caustic and Mirage) are locked behind a paywall or a lot of grinding.

    At least Apex Legends is free to play. There is an in-game store selling 100s of cosmetics and skins. Thankfully there are no pay-to-win loot boxes so far. The real issue is you have to pay to unlock new Legends, and this may prove to be pay-to-win depending on their ability kits.

    Apex Legends has been a big success thanks to Fortnite and PUBG's previous success. The game is good, but Respawn need to address the issues.    … Expand

    Purely from a gameplay perspective, it’s the best first person battle royale title out there, and well worth dipping into a year on. It’s disappointing that Titanfall 3 seems further away than ever, but for now Apex Legends will do just as well.

    Apex Legends spices up the battle royale formula with hero-based shooter pizazz and its revolutionary pinging system, which helps everyone feel welcome to the team. Though its Season One rollout has been disappointing content-wise and its visual flair remains bland, Apex Legends still has the solid foundation necessary for a free-to-play shooter to survive in the long run. And with 50 million players reached in its first month, it's not like it's slowing down anytime soon. We're all jumpmasters now.

    There are many free to play Battle Royale games out there that are vying for your attention, but Apex Legends takes the genre to new heights with its superb gunplay, Moreish game loop and a superb communication mechanic.
