Quick review: What the creative director and team did was take a risk
Most would expect an action driven game like AC, but the team made something else
They took a risk and I believe the risk paid off. Ancestors is the most refreshing game I've had the pleasure of experiencing this year and I can't wait to play more and see what else this amazing studio brings to life.

This game is actually an 8 but I rated it a 10 because of the spaz that gave it a 0 due to quote 'its evolution propaganda'. Evolution is fact and this game is good but not perfect.

Игра мне очень понравилась, концерт мне зашёл, таких игр нет, она единственная в своём своём жанре. Игра стоит своих денег.

This is certainly an interesting concept for a game. Try and beat natural evolution and evolve your "Tribe" quicker than evolution in our Universe. This is first a Survival game with discovery aspects. There is a lot of repetition to learn so unfortunately not for every player. really enjoying this game. not like any other which holds your hands. gone are the days of mini maps and way markers you have to go out and learn the map and upgrade skills to see farther away locations. working your way though countless skill trees makes the game seem large and what a lot of RPGs are missing. (this is not an RPG game) cant wait for more content from the creator. hisreally enjoying this game. not like any other which holds your hands. gone are the days of mini maps and way markers you have to go out and learn the map and upgrade skills to see farther away locations. working your way though countless skill trees makes the game seem large and what a lot of RPGs are missing. I had been waiting on this game for awhile and for me it did not disappoint. I think most people don't like it because it doesn't hold your hand, or because the game clashes with their religious views. As I fan of survival games I really liked this new take on the genre. I spent 52 hours with the game and was sad when it was over. I enjoyed being a helpless little hominid in the big world.I had been waiting on this game for awhile and for me it did not disappoint. This is one of the best games I've ever played. I kept firing up Red Dead Redemption 2 after I beat it and going "man, this is beautiful, I wish I could do something in this environment besides shoot innocent people in the head." Now my wish has been granted. It's probably my favorite game ever next to Kerbal Space Program. All you do is chill out and relax in nature and try to survive. This is one of the best games I've ever played. The only reason I don't give it a perfect 10 is because there are still some bugs and glitches, particularly with the AI of your clan mates.

This is one of the brightest, ingeniously crafted games in the last decade. Ancestors' design easily steps from survival to community and the generational. Graphics are lush, climbing fun, and learning to craft is natural. No other games compare!

I am one of those guys that NEED to explore everything and do every secondary mission before progressing the main story, so I LOVE the idea behind it: exploring, understanding the world and the mexhanics with very few hints, and create your own odissey. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Ancestors the humankind odyssey is a game that is truly a diamond in the rough in terms of PS games. It has you playing as a group of apes that eventually evolves to become human. The climbing mechanics are almost spot on, very similar to assassins creed. The survival mechanics are also very well developed, it took me awhile to figure out how to eat a coconut instead of just drinking it. The game is mostly about discovery as it does not tell you exactly how to do most things, some of which you need in order to survive. Once you figure out how its systems work, it is a very rewarding if not tedious game. What the game doesn't tell you is that in order to evolve you must complete evolution objectives(Like kill every predator) that advance years in the game once you pass generations. It does a poor job of telling you what your goal is. But the discovery is totally worth it. As you start to get attached to your apes and really care about their fate. If you are okay with some tedium in your games. Then it is surely worth it if you like games like spore. Expand

Although the graphics could be sharper, this game suits players who love to explore vast environments and tackle puzzles along the way. Based on factual science and history, this is a must for survival lovers that want to learn as they conquer this harsh and unforgiving landscape. Also, hat’s off to this game for offering a unique storyline and gameplay experience, striving away from the open-worlds with maps and guidelines that we are used to playing as gamers.

Ancestors: The Humankind Odyssey aims to tackle the evolution of mankind from our animal forebears, a hefty task for any one piece of media. While the goal is incredibly admirable, Panache Digital Games puts too much on its plate. It attempts to break down the process of human development in a fascinating way, but the concept ends up being tremendously difficult to translate into typical controls and gameplay. The information conveyance and gameplay implementation are ultimately disappointing, given how much curiosity the game fosters and inspires. The game still offers interesting content, especially in the audio and visual departments. While the effort put into the game is certainly laudable, the result of Ancestors is ultimately middling.

A game that not everyone will appreciate for what it really is: a raw and faithful experience of what the first steps of humanity really represented. It suffers from certain shortcomings, but we believe that the final product is a title worth giving a chance.
