Creaky old level design, a loathsome entourage of heroes, and a lifeless open world. [Nov 2017, p.81]

In Agents of Mayhem, the limits are all around you, all of the time - from the moment you start playing to the minute you stop, it feels permanently imprisoned by its own lack of imagination. The result is a game that carries the weight of a litany of sins - a saint that has fallen far, far from grace. [Issue#311, p.116]

The game is a weak attempt to get your money, by patronising and giving you exactly what you expect... An ugly game that's affecting all its attitude. [Issue#191, p.76]

Agents of Mayhem is a generic take on the city open world shooter. A diverse cast of heroes and a few funny one liners save it from being downright bad, but its repetitive missions and bland world firmly solidify its mediocrity.

Agents of Mayhem fails as caretaker of the Saints Row dildo-torch, with passable gameplay and characters the only vague upsides in its a repetitive, bug-ridden sandbox.

It may share a genre and universe with Saints Row, but Agents of Mayhem is a lifeless husk of Volition's prior work.

While I can’t imagine how any developer could have followed up the balls-to-the-wall tour-de-force that was Saints Row 4, Agents of Mayhem feels like it isn’t even trying – it’s a tiresome, atavistic throwback that feels at least a decade out of date. It qualifies as An Open World Game on the most basic level possible, but has none of the charm, audacity, or OMG did that really happen? appeal that put Volition on the map. What happened here?

Personality can only take a broken and repetitive game so far. The attitude behind Agents of Mayhem has potential, at least if it's executed properly. But there's little to Agents of Mayhem beyond its foul-mouthed and bombastic attitude, which push the game into grating and obnoxious territory. Throw in the poor mission design and bugs, and you've got a game with loads of mayhem, but not much else.

Agents of Mayhem has spirit, but not as much as its Saints Row predecessors and not enough to completely outshine the paint-by-numbers design.
  2. Aug 17, 2017
A bizarrely hollow yet mechanically competent open world action RPG that struggles to justify its own existence.
  3. Aug 15, 2017
While the core game is focused on the battle between cartoonish forces of good and evil, in the quiet moments, as the ringing of explosions fades, Agents of Mayhem demonstrates real heart.

The characters are awesome and diverse, the city is small but dense, the dialogue is probably the best part of the game. If you were a fan of Sunset Overdrive this game is for you, if not then it isn't for you. That doesn't make it bad like so many people are saying.
I would probably give it closer to a 7 but since people review things as either GARBAGE is PERFECT I have to give a 10 to help even out the score

This game deserves at least a 8
If these other cluck ups can have a year to redeem themselves
Then why not Agents of Mayhem

My base ruler for games is simple. Did it entertain me? The answer, Yes.

It did it quite well actually, its a fun game, lots of characters to choose from and a lot of ways to cause the mayhem the game promises. All in all i think it does it's job pretty well. The missions weren't too bad either, though they got slightly repetitive after awhile. Which is pretty much my only gripe, but each character is unique along with their own skill trees and passives, so it won't be too difficult to find one that suits your play style. But here are the big parts that i'll talk about

Gameplay: It's fast, and pretty challenging at times. Along with all the agents at your disposal it presents it's own pretty unique features and is fairly varied in how it'll play. But there won't be a dull moment. All in all, pretty chaotic.

World: It's big, and your characters are pretty mobile, so it's fun to explore. Also pretty. so it gets a thumbs up

    Story: Meh.

Missions: Their pretty fun but they get kinda repetitive, so also kinda meh.

Conclusion: I'm bad at making reviews, but this game is fun. So if what you're looking for is a fun shooter, you'll find it here.
