    I'm not a particularly big fan of the gameplay and i wish the ending wasn't so sequel hinty but this game was surprisingly great lots of great set pieces and a good story. 89/100

The world, scenery and graphics are all beautifully conceptualized, engrossing me deeply into the incredible story.     This game is a story telling masterpiece. A mostly linear game with realistic stealth and combat mechanics. The acting is top notch. The settings are beautiful. The game never disappoints and has you engrossed and striving to see what is next.

    Excellent game. Very atmospheric, great music, great storytelling, beautiful and olays well. Highly recommend it if you’re into story-based adventure games. Not for the faint if heart though, its brutal (both in terms of violence and theme).

    One of the best games of 2019. Story-driven with a clear scope, good choice of period. Nicely designed, linear levels. The gameplay mechanics with the rats is awesome - it's sometimes challenging, but not unbeatable. Could have been better optimized for the PS4 Pro.

    It's hard to assess this game because considering it's a AAA game it's 6 out of 10. But Considering it's AA game it's 8 out of 10. So 7 out of 10 is something in the middle.

    In two words game is worth to be played. Plot is not bad, stealth is good, combat system is quite poor but ok for AA game. Locations are very unique. And of course rats. Rats are awesome here.     When I saw a work in progress demo of this game in 2017 or 2018 i was rather impressed. The simplicity of the gameplay looked satisfying, and the atmosphere of rat swarms, large armored knights and Ominous lighting left a great impression on me.     The game is a third-person action/puzzle game, relying on sound and lighting to create tension and a lingering feeling of danger. As a character you are always vulnerable, and rely on tactical displacement to get past the danger. You have several tools, weapons and a little brother that has the plague or something. And that's the game.

    While the way the story is told is pretty good, i find the story itself to be rather shallow, predictable and uninteresting. The fact that the gameplay of dodging patrols, creating fire and causing distractions is very repetitive doesn't help either. The best part of the game is the level when you cross a Battlefield. Apart from that level all the other ones don't feel distinctive or interesting.

    I had hopes that this game would be entertaining in its own right as many people praised it. But having played it myself, i don't see it. It is a passable game that is just to repetitive for my taste. I give this game a 6/10.    … Expand

    Crafting and collective are good in this game and something reminiscent of The Last of Us.

    The gameplay mainly consists of sneaking and fleeing past the enemies. At times, it can be satisfying to escape without detection. Other times, it feels like the game is just playing itself because the path forward is pretty obvious.
    The game establishes really strong characters. Each one is distinct from each other and clear with their intentions.
    It does not have much "replay value," unfortunately. Therefore, I suggest you should take your time and really enjoy your first playthrough. Subsequent playthroughs feel like a long trudge through sticky mud.
    A couple minor issues include: allies getting in your way and some unnatural dialogue that seemed out of place.    … Expand

    The unique and attractive gameplay, variety and fun of the game are its strengths.
    It has an excellent story that keeps the audience engaged.
    The game environment is very beautiful. Although it has small technical problems.

By the end of the game I have only found half of the game's collectibles. Meaning that I missed out on learning 50% of the provided learning material concerning the historical time period.     A decent indie game with some nice mechanics that are sometimes let down by arbitrary limitations and glitchy controls. Story has some real highlights and some extremely tedious slogs. I'd probably try a sequel if it didn't have Hugo's whine.

    Stealth and story lead the way in this awesome 10 hour game! Really felt connected to the characters. The mood of the game was set and maintained well to always make things feel uneasy and dark although the older sister must keep hope and keep pushing for her brother.

    Cons: Repetitive, at the same time very grim but also a little too childish and silly (mice tornados, really?), not a lot of freedom to try out different tactics, extremely linear.

    Finally went back and finished the game. I really enjoyed the story and I'm looking forward to playing the sequel much more now. I'm only giving this one a 7 because the controls are a little wonky, the animations and lip sync voices don't line up well, and the worst of all is the brain dead AI. The stealth in the game is a joke.

    La ambientación y gráficos son espectaculares, gran recreación de escenarios y la historia es muy buena y te hace estar pendiente del juego todo el tiempo. Como puntos negativos veo el que los combates son muy ortopédicos, echo en falta las voces en castellano y la división de capítulos a veces está muy descompensada.

However, the story and characters are a bit bland, it's very short, the facial expressions are mediocre and the photo mode is quite bugged. But the platinum is very good, even if the game costs a maximum of $ 15.

    I can’t recall how I heard about this game, but I’m certainly glad I did. The story for the game and utilization of environmental elements is definitely unique. The characters are memorable, and were easy to grow an emotion attachment to. The only downside of the game for me was the emphasis on stealth. Stealth has never been my strongpoint when it comes to gaming.

    Ok, the game has beautiful scenery and has a great sense of the period to it. You feel yourself really in this time period walking around, however the way how you walk around brings you back to a 90s 3D game. It is ridicules. The idea of the hordes of rats is very nice but again poorly executed. All in all not a triple AAA but a good A title and definitely worth to pick up in a discount

    I was interested in the release of the game because it was a story driven game based on the black death and it intrigued me, I am glad I played it, because it was a blast, on the shorter side but well worth it.

    Really really good game. Excellent gameplay, characters, script. Story is a little out there, but not a problem.
    Ignore the haters; this is a really fun survival game and I look forward to playing sequel now.

    I must say that I've been surprised by how easily I got engaged in the story. You really get invested into it and it's a damn good one. The ost, voiceacting, level design are all on point. Despite the amazing story, gameplay wasn't really that great, nothing "wow" about it. I highly recommend this to everyone that loves a well written game and we don't really have enough of these these days.

    I think I’m in the minority of not really enjoying this one. There were a couple reasons why—first, the main weapon of the character is just a slog to use. It loads incredibly slowly, and has a nasty tendency to miss, earning the player an instant death. If there had been only three or four mats rather than six, it would have given the upgrade tree more flexibility, so that derps like me could have a slightly less frustrating experience.

    Third, the story had a bit of fluff that didn’t add much to the game, specifically in the middle. Without going into spoilers, three of the episodes could have not been included and nothing would have been lost, but the game would have maintained a tighter focus and moved a little faster.

    All in all, it was fine, but not one I would specifically recommend.    … Expand

    Me llevé una sorpresa muy grata con este juego. Está muy bien equilibrado el terror con la acción, calma, etc. La historia es clara y empieza de manera frenética, y los personajes son carismáticos y es fácil empatizar con ellos. Obviamente no es ninguna superproducción ni mucho menos, pero juegos de estos hay muy pocos.     I stumbled upon the trailer for this game on YouTube one day and was so excited I immediately bought it and started playing. Less than a day later, I was finished. Here are my thoughts:

    Pros: beautifully written story with driven main characters unique setting that offers a breath of fresh air soundtrack that fits and enhances your gameplay Cons: mechanics got a little repetitive    I stumbled upon the trailer for this game on YouTube one day and was so excited I immediately bought it and started playing. Less than a day later, I was finished. Here are my thoughts:

    Pros:

    Cons:
    mechanics got a little repetitive for me
    some super cheesy dialogue sprinkled throughout
    graphics seem like a step down for a game that is relatively newer
    it's basically a lesser-version of The Last of Us
    Pretty quick game - only 10-15 hours (may be a pro for some people)

    That said, I enjoyed playing this game for a day. However, it definitely left me a little disappointed after how pumped I was watching the trailer. If you're into stealth games, you will find some value here as it is not too expensive and offers a worthwhile campaign. 5/10    … Expand

    A plague tale is a gem of a game. It has a lot of heart and the devs clearly put a lot of effort into it. The visuals are very impressive for an indie studio, the story intriguing, and the characters interesting. The combination of stealth, sling combat, and light based puzzles make for an interesting experience, set in sceneries shifting from gently lit woods to grotesque corridors. TheA plague tale is a gem of a game. It has a lot of heart and the devs clearly put a lot of effort into it. The visuals are very impressive for an indie studio, the story intriguing, and the characters interesting. The combination of stealth, sling combat, and light based puzzles make for an interesting experience, set in sceneries shifting from gently lit woods to grotesque corridors. The different types of ammo that are unlocked during the game allow for different approaches to scenarios which I enjoyed. Though toward the end, sling upgrades allow for the basic ammo to get the job done for the most part.

    The game did fall short for me a bit on the gameplay side. I found the controls quite clunky and unresponsive at times. It caused a lot of frustration when I couldn't lock onto enemies and kept dying. The gameplay and puzzles also got a bit repetitive toward the end for me.

    10/10 because it brought a story that made me want to finish to game immediately without breaks. I have interrupted my Horizon ZD playthrough already 5 times without finishing although its no doubt a 10/10 game which brings everything. Plague tale had great mechanics for combat, stealth was okay (AI is stupid just like in all other games). There were some bugs here and there. What I hated10/10 because it brought a story that made me want to finish to game immediately without breaks. This adventure game looks really nice for a non AAA title. You play as a girl that travels together with her brother and one of the main tasks is to avoid hordes of rats and solve some environmental puzzles that aren't too hard, most of them. InA Plague Tale doesn't have a deep story that will amaze you but it is interesting enough to keep you going forward even though it is predictable.     This game is the best game I have played in 2019. As a game with linear gameplay, storytelling and graphics are the 2 most important things for me. This game did perfectly in these 2 aspects. This game is a must play.

    A Plague Tale: Innocence is a game that starts slow but drags you in the more you play. Over the course of the roughly 15 hours I spent with this game I can say that I thoroughly enjoyed this game, despite it's flaws.

    The game let's you play as Amicia de Rune, a young noble woman, who is tasked with taking care of her brother, Hugo de Rune, after an event that takes place at the start    A Plague Tale: Innocence is a game that starts slow but drags you in the more you play. Over the course of the roughly 15 hours I spent with this game I can say that I thoroughly enjoyed this game, despite it's flaws.

    The game let's you play as Amicia de Rune, a young noble woman, who is tasked with taking care of her brother, Hugo de Rune, after an event that takes place at the start of the game. The story is well put together and the pacing is just right, it keeps you engaged while throwing little bits of information at you to piece the story together.

    Gameplay however, can be a chore at times. The gameplay varies from light puzzle solving to stealth/combat. The combat and stealth is very linear and it is almost always very clear what direction you need to go. Only after getting different abilities the combat and stealth start to open up but that is roughly 3/4 into the game. It's a shame because the stealth is tense and rewarding because Amicia only has a sling, you're not a soldier. The game would benefit from more player choice in tackling objectives and getting through situations.

    Sound design and music is incredible, low strings make my hands sweat during stealth sections, slow and high strings make emotional scenes that much more touching. Voice acting, especially the English voices, are lacking in some areas. On top of that, some of the animations are quite rough and in scenes where facial animations can add alot, there are barely any. Throughout the game there is a dissonance between what is being said/happening and how the characters react to that.

    It is clear to me that the team who made this game is incredibly talented and passionate about making experiences that people get emotionally invested in the world and characters. I'd love to see more of A Plague Tale on the new generation, with new tech, better animations, improved voice acting and visuals.    … Expand

    I just finished the game and i all i can say is, It Is really good. The game itself may not be long but the scenario is wonderful from the beginning to the end. The games goes straight to the point and show us what we came from. A story about the Plague and a sister who tries to save his brother from his curse. I wish i could just explore the world i little more but its still really good.

    This game leaves me a sour aftertaste. The atmosphere is great, this game really takes you to french middle age. The story, characters and acting is great but gameplay & mechanics are where the game falls short. Mechanics are somehwhat clunky, buggy and repetitive and it will get tedious and boring a lot of times.
    Nevertheless, I'm still looking forwards to the sequel & I hope Asobo    This game leaves me a sour aftertaste. The atmosphere is great, this game really takes you to french middle age. Bosses - some of the worst in gaming. It’s not all bad. Chapter 1-13 give you a pretty enjoyable game with amazing atmosphere, gorgeous graphics and story that’s easy to follow.     Beautiful game with an interesting story. Generally I don't like games that are one big escort mission, but it never became tedious in this... just another obstacle to overcome. Loved the mechanics of it, the graphics, the story... very little not to recommend about this game.

    Mention spéciale aux développeurs qui ont traités la religion catholique avec beaucoup d'intelligence et d'honnêteté ce qui est plus que rare de nos jours !

Так круто передана атмосфера чумы, просто бомба нигде такого не видел, + особые механики геймплея тоже впечатляют очень необычный опыт.     A good game but not a great one. I really liked the beginning of the story but towards the end it got a bit weird imo. The gameplay is nice. The graphics are good. The characters are lovable. Just wasn't the fan of the end of the story or what setting the end of the game shows.

    A simple tale aimed at a younger audience / children I guess. Decent enough gameplay, though basic, as it takes you through the story, graphics are ok, nothing special though. Limited in scope, and a short story. Glad I only paid £10 for it, not worth much more imo.

    A played through this recently on Xbox game pass and loved it. Really great story great characters, I couldn't stop playing it. Would definitely recommend. I hope there is a sequal someday

    Disclaimer: I stopped playing the game at chapter 5 because I found the voice acting unbearable: Why do the French people in this game speak English with fake French accents? Perhaps that's a personal pet peeve of mine, but it completely takes me out of the story and prevents me from relating to these characters. I can't stand it when movies do that either.     I bought the game expecting a (somewhat) realistic historical adventure (in the vein of RDR2), I didn't know it was going to be a supernatural fantasy horror, especially after reviews praised the game's realism. Sure, I could have read summaries and watched in-depth reviews, but I didn't want to spoil the story, as that's what I bought the game for.

    Everything else has already been said in the other reviews:

    - yes, the controls are somewhat clunky
    - yes, the gameplay is redundant and linear (the stealth mechanisms can get a bit tiring for my taste)
    - yes, it looks good
    - yes, the score and atmosphere are good
    - yes, the boy is annoying;-)
    - the gameplay mechanics force some laughable decisions onto the characters, as the game constantly needs to come up with reasons why we can't take torches or other sources of fire with us
    - the AI enemies are often times just too dumb to be taken seriously: So you throw a rock at a metal object a few steps away from a solider, to which he reacts by saying "Oh, what a strange noise, let me investigate!", then waltzes to the metal object, literally staring at it for 20 seconds rather than checking its surroundings.

    I bought this game to experience the story – I'm not a hard-core gamer; I just like good storytelling, but the French accents, supernatural story and (to me) overall silliness of the swarms of fire-fearing rats took me out so much that I could never really enjoy this game, even though I really wanted to based on all the good reviews it had received.    … Expand

    Extremely under-rated game. The story is very compelling right from the start, and does not lose that feeling at any point in the game. The music are voice acting are excellent. The game does not feel too drawn out, it is just the length it needs to be.

    Great game, beautiful story and scenery throughout, with very likeable characters. The only real negatives is that it’s a very short game, and the aiming system can be frustrating at times, but well worth a play through.

    Nice gameplay - the gameplay is a bit simple but generally interesting and new additions keep it from getting stale until the end of the game

    Cons

    The crate pushing implemented feels extremely clunky

    Aiming can be frustrating particularly as enemies move around the environment on uneven terrain

    After reading the reviews, I was excited to try out this game. It started off quite well, with beautiful graphics and an interesting story unfolding. However, I was shocked at the amount of bugs in it: characters start to speak at the same time, or only 3 minutes after you saw the NPCs - you might already be miles away from them. I've then climbed over a fence and was supposed to land on a ground, but instead fell into a massive black hole again where I couldn't get out of. Had to delete this immediately.

    I just haven't seen so many bugs in a game in ages. Shame really, as it was a promising game.    … Expand

    The story and the graphics is awesome. I love the character development of Amicia and Hugo and playing the game now makes me feel Hugo as my own brother. Voice acting is top notch. My only complaint with the game is the facial expressions. Tbh the facial expressions are bad. As a whole the game is awesome and a must play for gamers.

    There’s a lot lifted from other games in A Plague Tale, but somehow there’s nothing cynical about it. This is a full-hearted reach for the big time of AAA storytelling that succeeds in the most important departments, thanks to its sparkling polish and subtle characterisation. It’s one of a handful of games for which I could tell you the personality traits and motivations of not just the protagonists, but four or five secondary characters. Consider this review a carrier: Asobo Studio is a name that’s going to spread.

    Aside from the basic gameplay and a few rough edges, A Plague Tale: Innocence tells an incredibly gripping story about a couple of kids in the most grim circumstances imaginable. It nails the horrifying setting with standout visuals and a thick atmosphere that is worth experiencing at least once. If you're looking for the next great story to play through, A Plague Tale is definitely it.

    I thoroughly enjoyed A Plague Tale: Innocence from start to finish and cannot fault this title at all. While the gameplay is fluid that is accompanied by excellent graphics and audio, where A Plague Tale – Innocence shines is with its characters and the way it tells their story. So if you’re upset at how Game of Thrones ended and need a story that is told correctly, A Plague Tale – Innocence does that flawlessly.
