    Simply put one of the best indie titles ever made and a strong contender even in the mainstream gaming space. A Plague Tale: Innocence combines dark and unsettling environments with gameplay that will keep you constantly on your toes as you never know what danger is lurking in the shadows or around the next corner. You play as Amicia, who is suddenly thrust into danger with her brotherSimply put one of the best indie titles ever made and a strong contender even in the mainstream gaming space. A Plague Tale: Innocence combines dark and unsettling environments with gameplay that will keep you constantly on your toes as you never know what danger is lurking in the shadows or around the next corner. You play as Amicia, who is suddenly thrust into danger with her brother Hugo as a Plague sweeps across Europe. There are several characters you meet along the way with my favorite being Lucas. He is an extremely intelligent prodigy in the alchemical arts. He joins Amicia and Hugo on their journey and even teaches Amicia how to use alchemy to avoid and even vanquish her foes. The combat is both amazing and the only misstep in an otherwise flawless game. When you are sneaking around in stealth or attacking from stealth the combat is fantastic. However, when you are spotted and you have to engage in hand to hand combat the devs didn't really give you anyway to defend yourself from pursuers who are faster than you are. So you will inevitably get caught and be instantly killed. There is an alchemical weapon you can use to escape an enemy that catches you but it is very expensive in the resources it requires to make so I usually chose to restart the checkpoint rather than waste precious resources. Puzzles are an integral part of the A Plague Tale: Innocence experience and all of them are really well designed and a joy to figure out. There are a number of boss fights in the game with the final boss being simply amazing and a fight I find myself coming back to again and again to give him a good whack in the head with a rock. I highly recommend this game if you enjoy story driven linear experiences.… Expand

    Las expresiones son muy frías, lo que llamamos " Ojo de tiburón", y se parecen mucho algunos de los personajes (faciales) parecen todos familia. El apartado jugable, és un poco tosco el manejo, con los personajes, y hay momentos que no estás solo, la IA de los compañeros deja mucho que desear, y ya no hablamos de los enemigos, no tienen Inteligencia. La banda sonora, pienso que és de lo mejor del juego, acompaña muy bién todo lo que rodea este mundo, los sonidos en general están bastante bién logrados. En fin! Con las ratas se les a ido la mano, és muy lineal, la historia buuueno! Otra más. Es un n juego muy simple, todo está muy marcado y no tienes libertad.    … Expand

    One of the best story games I have played.
    The unique and attractive gameplay, variety and fun of the game are its strengths.
    It has an excellent story that keeps the audience engaged.
    The game environment is very beautiful. Although it has small technical problems.
    I strongly recommend it.

    Love the atmosphere, love the story and the gameplay. This is a game I am pretty sure I will remember for some time.
    Cudos for the writers for making the kids realistic but also not annoying, I very much enjoyed all of the story and characters.

    This game is fantastic, it portrays the middle ages very well, it is super immersive and brings us closer to the characters, where during the game we create bonds with Amicia and Hugo, very good setting and soundtrack, note 8

    Gráficos fabulosos que ficam ainda melhores na PS5
    Jogabilidade muito boa, com períodos de muita ação e outras de exploração. Também considero muito bom a possibilidade de fazer melhorias aos diferentes equipamentos.
    Recomendo vivamente.

    This game is a story telling masterpiece. A mostly linear game with realistic stealth and combat mechanics. The acting is top notch. The settings are beautiful. The game never disappoints and has you engrossed and striving to see what is next.

    The gameplay here is extremely restrictive. You are often forced to do things a very particular way, and should you not you will run into very sharp difficulty spikes. The game makes you feel like an actor following a script and not a player in a simulated scenario. And I don't mean stupid decisions that is understandable for the characters to make, no I mean that they make purposefully dumb decisions that no human being would ever make, undeveloped or otherwise, just to justify the next scenario. And in the end it is in service of a terrible story which truly fly's off the goddamn rails at the end.     After reading the reviews, I was excited to try out this game. It started off quite well, with beautiful graphics and an interesting story unfolding. However, I was shocked at the amount of bugs in it: characters start to speak at the same time, or only 3 minutes after you saw the NPCs - you might already be miles away from them. What is completely unacceptable however, is the 'black holes' - I've fallen into one where there was supposed to be a water fountain, and couldn't get out. I've then climbed over a fence and was supposed to land on a ground, but instead fell into a massive black hole again where I couldn't get out of. Had to delete this immediately.

    I just haven't seen so many bugs in a game in ages. Shame really, as it was a promising game.    … Expand

    Cons

    The crate pushing implemented feels extremely clunky

    Aiming can be frustrating particularly as enemies move around the environment on uneven terrain

Apesar de a personagem principal nao ter tao simpatica, o menino Hugo acaba nos ganhando (no comeco ele eh bastante irritante). Ficou faltando parte da historia (porque ha claros problemas na relacao da Amicia com sua mae) talvez isso seja explicado na continuacao.
    No geral fiquei satisfeito com o jogo. Thumbs up para o Lucas - o melhor personagem, espero que ele descanse depois de ter carregado todo mundo nas costas. Recomendo    … Expand

    I can’t recall how I heard about this game, but I’m certainly glad I did. The story for the game and utilization of environmental elements is definitely unique. The characters are memorable, and were easy to grow an emotion attachment to. The only downside of the game for me was the emphasis on stealth. Stealth has never been my strongpoint when it comes to gaming.

    Finally went back and finished the game. I really enjoyed the story and I'm looking forward to playing the sequel much more now. I'm only giving this one a 7 because the controls are a little wonky, the animations and lip sync voices don't line up well, and the worst of all is the brain dead AI. The stealth in the game is a joke.

    Almost finished it but just couldn’t get past a stage where you have to fight off soldiers while staying behind a moving cart that is protecting you from archers. Died over and over so many times. Sometimes hit by an arrow from an impossible angle. I swear I was safely behind the cart enough that there’s no way an arrow could have hit me. Sometimes my reticle would inexplicably moveAlmost finished it but just couldn’t get past a stage where you have to fight off soldiers while staying behind a moving cart that is protecting you from archers. Died over and over so many times. Sometimes hit by an arrow from an impossible angle. I swear I was safely behind the cart enough that there’s no way an arrow could have hit me. Sometimes my reticle would inexplicably move off a target and then the approaching soldier would kill me. Sometimes the reticle just refused to aim onto a soldier before they reached me. Sometimes keeping an eye on my position relative to the cart meant that I just couldn’t turn back in time to hit a soldier before they got me or if I didn’t check my position, I would get hit by an archer. A massive exercise in frustration and tedium which summed up my experience of this game. The story was OK, the graphics were great but the gameplay absolutely sucked beyond words. This is without doubt the worst gaming experience I’ve had in over 10 years. I cannot believe it’s got such a high average score.… Expand

Up to try any genre of games and sometimes I find something new that I didn't think I'd like. I own a PC (built by me), Xbox One X, Xbox Series X, PS3, PS4, PS5, and a Switch. I prefer Playstation due to their focus on narrative games. For scoring, I’ll be using the Gameinformer review scale and of coursed influenced by my personal opinions.

    (9) Superb. Just shy of gaming nirvana, this score is a high recommendation because the game reviewed is head-and-shoulders above its competition.

    This game was in my backlog for a while, didn’t think the rat infested world what be interesting. I was mistaken the story is great. Each chapter felt evenly paced and the world matched the story. There was a lot more gameplay than I was expecting since people called it a glorified walking simulator. I thought they did a good job with coming up with different gaming mechanics that made sense with the characters and world. Lot of games just throw multiple gameplay mechanics into the world so people wouldn’t get bored but they don’t fit into the world. They could work on opening up the levels a bit more. Most of the game there is only one path to take. The cast/voiceovers where great. The story developed nicely and kept you wanting to continue. I look forward to the next game. Oh, and the graphics are amazing which surprised me since it was an indie game.    … Expand

    Ce jeu est top ! L’histoire est vraiment prenante, le gameplay est certes des fois un peu rigide mais on sent vraiment la pression de devoir se cacher pour éviter les ennemis. Les personnages sont vraiment excellents !

    When troops from the French Inquisition attack her home and kill her parents, Amicia de Rune and her young brother Hugo are forced to go on the run.

    A Plague Tale’s solid stealth based gameplay combined with the unique setting, interesting story and sympathetic characters makes for a gripping adventure despite the odd frustrating set piece.

    Extremely under-rated game. The story is very compelling right from the start, and does not lose that feeling at any point in the game. The music are voice acting are excellent. The game does not feel too drawn out, it is just the length it needs to be.

    I had fun with this game, but points gave me more of a thrill. The environment matched the toned, and the horror of the story.

    My first problem with this game is that it is way too scripted, you can't really solve anything without following exactly what the game tells you and sometimes it makes zero sense. It's also way too linear and the gameplay soon becomes stale after a couple hours, since there is no room for creativity at all. Most of, if not all the enemy types can only be killed in one way.     The story and the graphics is awesome. I love the character development of Amicia and Hugo and playing the game now makes me feel Hugo as my own brother. Voice acting is top notch. My only complaint with the game is the facial expressions. Tbh the facial expressions are bad. As a whole the game is awesome and a must play for gamers.

    A Plague Tale was surprisingly a very well made and carefully crafted experience. This is both it’s greatest strength and it’s largest shortcoming. The experience itself is very moving and captivating, especially in the characters and the overall narrative. You really feel the character development just through the passing interactions over the course of the game. I also really appreciate that the developers made a game in a setting that you never see in videogames, and wrote a story that is completely unique and original. With all that being said, I described this as more of an experience than a game because the gameplay is very shallow and linear. It plays like a simple stealth game with minimal combat, but as you play through you realize that the solutions you find are pretty much the only solutions to move forward. That really makes the game feel like an interactive movie. It drags a bit as a game, but luckily the story and characters keep you pulled in until the end. I look forward to see what they do with the sequel because it will either drive the game to huge successes, or it will alter the formula so that it takes away from the story.     I think I’m in the minority of not really enjoying this one. There were a couple reasons why—first, the main weapon of the character is just a slog to use. It loads incredibly slowly, and has a nasty tendency to miss, earning the player an instant death.     Third, the story had a bit of fluff that didn’t add much to the game, specifically in the middle. Without going into spoilers, three of the episodes could have not been included and nothing would have been lost, but the game would have maintained a tighter focus and moved a little faster.

    I lovy story based games, and i quite liked this one also. I like the way it was written, with many small scenes that pulls you right into the characters feelings. Not complicated but a nice plot leaves almost no suprises, aside the 1hour. But its not bad at all.

    A wanderful game, equal to the LAST OF US series. Buy it, its worth! It is very emotional like the last of us, however it is less scary. Instead of zombies there are rats, desease and death. You will love it!

    The last chapter broke the game for me. Starting from the 'pushing cart' part, till the final boss this game is an unplayable mess.     So you run around, try to reach that same moment only to hear that he can't do it because of some arbitrary reasons... It took me maybe 20/25 tries, after that I said F-it, and this was the end of the game for me.
    I am not the best player in the world, although I did a platinum trophy in Bloodborne, Sekiro, God Of War finished on highest difficulty, and yet, A Plague Tale made me rage quit.

    Voice acting ("English" version) in this game is poor and really annoying as well. I understand, it's an indie title, but what is the point of having an English speaking actress pretend a french one? Makes no sense at all. Accents makes sense when the characters speak between each other in a different languages, but here, we have a French people speaking between each other in English with some weird accents. Why?
    From the beginning this broke the immersion for me. Every single time when Amicia and Hugo where talking, it was like nails on a chalkboard! Unbearable, infantile, stylized and unnecessary.

    Oh, and there should be a drinking game, every time you here Hugo saying 'mummy', you 'drink' a bullet to the head. :3

    I was very exited for this game, and in the end it's a title I will remember for a long, LONG time, as one of the most annoying games I've played in a long time. Hype for the second game is gone, will not play it even if it was a free game.    … Expand

The graphics, music and acting are pretty decent too, but the story is where it really shines. You really come to care for your ragtag band of misfits, and the interaction between the big sister and her pain in the bum brother is a real highlight.

    So why the 8? Well, did I mention I hate boss fights? Especially ones where there is an unskippable talking bit before them, so when you die, you have to go through all that again? Also, one-hit kills. I totally get it, and they make sense for most of the game, and then archers appear, and, well, those guys can go *£&%*£$£^*^£

    Anyway, it's a great game that is the perfect length and well worth the price of admission, but it does have its little niggles that will make your teeth grind.    … Expand

My favorite parts were when Alicia and Hugo were running away from the rats under the tunnel, also I think it was unique how they used Hugo’s POV for a chapter. The way they used rats to kill enemy and the main concept of the game was also very unique, usually during the Black Death. For me like RE7 and Until Dawn, it feels more like a PS5 game then Xbox or Nintendo. 100% would recommend for someone who is into strategy games like Uncharted or… basically like Uncharted. But the main thing in the game is the story, amazing, adding with the amazing voice actors, especially from Charlotte Mcburney. A Games like, created by a group of 45 shows me hope in a incredible future of small team game creation. Something I love the most with small teams or indie games is that they usually don't get pressure from money, it's about making good game where you can get respect by making good game after good games. While other games like Fifa, Madden or other games are just cheap ways on getting money. I just hope Asobo Studio doesn't add politics in anythings. I think companies should just be companies, bot humans, kinda like a robot having an opinion on where you eat because everyone other place is bad, just don't make it political, or be brought by EA... Из за него столько народу погибло. В начале мыши боятся огня. В середине они бросаются и тушат огонь. Где логика? В начале вы бегает от мышей. В конце вы бегаете с мышами. К середине головоломки будут повторятся по кругу. И головоломки постоянно повторяются. Вы будете себя все чаще и чаще ловить на мысли, что устали от игры. А концовка это вообще что-то с чем-то. The story showing these characters progressing, specifically being hopeless against the rats in the beginning then at the end of the story being able to weaponize then shows the growth of the characters beautifully. The story absolutely blew me away and I enjoyed it so much more than I thought.

    I would sometimes find the mechanics a little annoying, however, once I figured out I should probably focus on upgrades a little bit more than I had been I had a much more fun time.

    Definitely a game that I will recommend to friends and family and play over and over again.    … Expand

In overall a game with great story especially with awesome dynamic 4k graphic, characters interaction is simple and just nice not too lengthy, it really make u feel the sadness of plague outbreak historically back then during 1300+.
    Might not be a game for those hardcore fast-paced RPG players like GOW,    Got this game free from playstation plus, one of the best free psplus game recently! It is the story of 14 year old Amicia de Rune who lives in the French countryside with her noble family. Her life changes drastically when the Inquisition arrives and wants to arrest her estranged younger brother Hugo. This is the start of an odyssey as both are on the run without help and support against a powerful organization with well armed knights, huge numbers and influence like no other organization at the time. The story is engaging and completely nails the feeling of dread and fear. I like how the story enfolds when you get more and more answers. It is also believable and immersive. The well written characters enhance this. You can feel Amicia’s struggles as she must protect her little brother and make harsh decisions or her approx 5 year old brother Hugo who struggles with the understanding of the whole situation. They are also a bit estranged as Hugo was ill since childhood and she has barley contact with him because of this. It ends not there as the other characters which I wont spoil have all their own motives, character and world views. There is no out of character moment and I can relate to everyone. For the gameplay: It is a great stealth game where you are up against superior enemies. Amicia just has a sling to defend herself which is a joke against a fully armored knight. However there is stealth, distractions, items and things in the environment you can use for advantage. You can always find a good tactic to outsmart or defeat your enemies. During the game you gain new tools or better said receipts that open new possibilities. This keeps the gameplay feeling fresh. The equipment can be upgraded in a system that reminded me of “The Last of Us”. You find items like for example leather, sulfur, stones or alcohol. With these you can create special ammunition with different effects or upgrade your equipment, weapon or inventory with them if you have a special item called tools and reach a workbench. I must mention that some upgrades are incredible useful. However there are rarer items you need for upgrades that are more hidden offside the main path in the levels. Then there are the puzzles. You have some to reach different parts of a level, continue the story or defeat enemies. Those are creative and enjoyable but follow often the same concepts. Fire and light play a big role in them. In total I really enjoyed the gameplay and will praise the game here too. The survival horror elements are (scare) item management, powerful enemies and scary situations that get you killed in ways I want not to think about. I must warn you here as some scenes are maybe a bit to much for some. Especially if you fear rats. Also the Inquisition does some pretty messed up things like they did in real life and there will be some awful choices the characters must do to survive. Presentation wise the art style is truly convincing. It looks like the medieval ages and gets the feeling of a plague ridden region right. The towns, locations and castles are immersive. The graphics look excellent and especially the characters feel alive and realistic. The soundtrack was really good and I often thought during the game how it enhances the atmosphere. There are some negatives: The levels are not that big outside the main path. Some will make the hallway walking simulator argument. You run into dead ends quite fast if you explore the levels. Also backtracking is not possible. Often I took the path that lead to the next part of the level and could not explore a branching part from before anymore. For me it is not a problem as the game does a good job to make the most out of the levels and it is satisfying for me. There is still a lot to explore but not on an open world game level. I had a bug in chapter 10 that left me in an unwinnable situation as a scripted event did not start. I replayed the whole chapter to continue. Lastly the variety in the puzzles might be not that numerous enough for others. Again I had no problem with this but it is valid enough to mention. Overall this was a remarkable game and I consider it an insider tip. The great story, characters and presentation are worth a 10/10 for me despite the flaws. I am hyped for the sequel and fully recommend the game… Expand

From the workbenches to the upgradable sling to the survival horror stealth nature of the game, one would be forgiven if one noticed striking similarities between A Plague Tale Innocence and The Last of Us. What a gem.

    This game leaves me a sour aftertaste. The atmosphere is great, this game really takes you to french middle age. The story, characters and acting is great but gameplay & mechanics are where the game falls short. Mechanics are somehwhat clunky, buggy and repetitive and it will get tedious and boring a lot of times.

    Overrated as hell. If you want to charge AAA prices - do AAA polishing. Facial animations and animation in general are from 2000s. Voice acting bad and annoying. Bosses - some of the worst in gaming. It’s not all bad. Chapter 1-13 give you a pretty enjoyable game with amazing atmosphere, gorgeous graphics and story that’s easy to follow.     I don't think it deserves more than a 7. The story, ambiences and graphics are quite nice, but the gameplay is a chore. You have to solve "puzzle" situations exactly the one way the developers pretended, even if it's a complete nonsense, like characters not walking even when they can easily avoid the rats themselves, or being able to hold only 1 wood stick even when there's a bunch there,I don't think it deserves more than a 7. The story, ambiences and graphics are quite nice, but the gameplay is a chore. Or forcing you to use the slingshot when you could just create distractions in a more effective way.

    Plague Tale is seriously so beautiful. There's a lot of unique things about this game - from its horror, rat infested storyline to its sneaky (but also fast paced) combat. I found out about this game from a Playstation Sale, and geez am I glad I got it. I feel like every minute I spent playing this game I was in awe.     HOLY **** is this game BRILLIANT????

    The story had me in awe. It’s actually beautiful how well the devs managed to put together such an intimate, raw narrative with super unique combat and cutscenes sprinkled throughout. I cannot recommend plague tale enough. It made me laugh, weep and feel so many emotions. A true masterpiece of a game

    The longer I played the game the less I enjoyed it. The strongest point of the game was the relationship between the two MCs. The story and soundtrack were good as well, but not outstanding. I also liked that all chapters had roughly the same length.

The side characters have no personalities and are only defined through their abilities. There is also a completley unnecessary upgrading system, which I chose to ignore after chapter V.
    Overall I cannot recommend playing this game. If you are interested in the story/setting I advise you to watch a walk-through.    … Expand

    There’s a lot lifted from other games in A Plague Tale, but somehow there’s nothing cynical about it. This is a full-hearted reach for the big time of AAA storytelling that succeeds in the most important departments, thanks to its sparkling polish and subtle characterisation. It’s one of a handful of games for which I could tell you the personality traits and motivations of not just the protagonists, but four or five secondary characters. Consider this review a carrier: Asobo Studio is a name that’s going to spread.

    Aside from the basic gameplay and a few rough edges, A Plague Tale: Innocence tells an incredibly gripping story about a couple of kids in the most grim circumstances imaginable. It nails the horrifying setting with standout visuals and a thick atmosphere that is worth experiencing at least once. If you're looking for the next great story to play through, A Plague Tale is definitely it.

    I thoroughly enjoyed A Plague Tale: Innocence from start to finish and cannot fault this title at all. While the gameplay is fluid that is accompanied by excellent graphics and audio, where A Plague Tale – Innocence shines is with its characters and the way it tells their story. So if you’re upset at how Game of Thrones ended and need a story that is told correctly, A Plague Tale – Innocence does that flawlessly.
