Virtua Tennis 2009 is still a great tennis game, and it arrives at the right moment, far enough from the last installment for sports fans to want a little more of Virtua Tennis. The only thing to criticize is the few changes in comparison with the last game.
-
Virtua Tennis hasn't changed much since 1999 and is still the leader of its genre. Whoever likes arcade sports games should consider getting this game.

PSM3 Magazine UKAccessible, fast and deceptively deep - the ultimate tennis game on PS3. [July 2009, p.74]
-
Virtua Tennis supports the stamp typical of the saga with a dynamic, fast, accessible and entertaining game. Nevertheless, the absence of innovations in his playability turns it into a title with minimal attraction for the user who already knows the saga. Only the on-line modes and the Davis Cup they separate it from the previous games of the series. SEGA must think about where they want to take the saga, because the stagnation can start being dangerous.

For fans, this is a first service short of unmissable.
-
While perhaps not moving on leaps and bounds, Virtual Tennis 09 will still offer enough to keep tennis and arcade fans alike happy.
-
The best in the series so far, but with no real gameplay improvements. The action may feel far too familiar to owners of Virtua Tennis 3 – if you’re one of them, only check this out if you can’t live without PSN.
-
They took a long time for the development of Virtua Tennis 2009. Why? There’s actually nothing new around.
-
If you seek a tennis-simulation you couldn’t find a better game on the PS3. Check it out and buy it if you are a tennis-fan.

Playstation Official Magazine AustraliaThe top seed of tennis games made even better. [July 2009, p.83]
-
There was room for improvement, but Virtua Tennis 2009 offers few changes. If you already have the last chapter of the series is hard to recommend this new one. No doubt, the game offers an enjoyable gameplay experience.
-
While Virtua Tennis 2009 is little more than an upgraded version of VT3, it still offers an enjoyable gameplay experience and is a must buy for any fan of the franchise or genre.
-
Virtua Tennis 2009 is actually sort of a copy of Virtua Tennis 3 with some little improvements. But a game doesn't always have to be revolutionary to be a good and very entertaining, like Virtua Tennis 2009.
