  1. During a somewhat dismal summer release schedule, Transformers: War for Cybertron is a bright spot and, like I said before, truly deserves a look.
  2. Transformers: War for Cybertron is not only the best Transformers game next-gen gamers can play, it is also one of the most fulfilling and challenging action-shooters I've played in years and a definite purchase, especially if you have any love of the Transformers franchise.
  3. High Moon managed to recreate a classic formula in a different medium and make an extremely large amount of fans very happy. This is a great big step in the right direction for the franchise and brand-owner Hasbro knows it.

This is a surprise, dark horse contender for best way to spend your time online this summer.

Transformers: The War for Cybertron is definitely a love-letter to fans of the G1 cartoon series. All of your favorite characters are here and somehow mixed in with a genuinely fun and competent shooter.

High Moon studios has delivered a good third-person shooter that uses a lot of recognisable elements from the original 80's cartoon. The game is suitable for everyone, so people that are new to the franchise will have just as much fun as hardcore transformers fans.

Finally Transformers have a game with great quality, and to achieve that they had to flee from the movie adaptations.
  8. Ultimately, Transformers: War for Cybertron is a game for Transformers fans made by Transformers fans.
  9. Transformers: War For Cybertron is damn near everything I would have asked for from a Transformers video game. High Moon Studios managed to create a living & breathing world – I know, kind of ironic for a game about robots, isn't it – that did justice to the source material.

This Transformers game is really great. It's got many details, a great multiplayer, two different stories and fine gameplay. Fans of the movies and the whole franchise can buy this game without any problem. This is probably the Transformers game everyone was waiting for!
  11. War for Cybertron isn't a perfect game, but it fulfills my youthful fantasies in a way that has me believing the developers had a window into my boyhood imagination.
  12. Yes, fanboys, it's okay to pick this one up. Transformers, Roll Out!

Everything from the bickering banter between Starscream and Megatron, the cold calculated communiques from Soundwave, or the heavy-handed speeches from Optimus to rally his Autobots, it's all here. War for Cybertron is an entertaining game that's just as enjoyable as it is playable.
  14. At this point, I'd say that any game made by High Moon Studios should probably be given your due attention; this is the second time they've managed to crush our skepticism and come through in fine shape.
  15. Tranformers: War for Cybertron is a great first episode of a new saga. The game is quite enjoyable, even if it lacks some big moment. It also has a nice multiplayer mode, surprisingly complete and well built.

With a pretty lean summer of releases, Cybertron is among the best we're going to see for a while. [Sept 2010, p.78]
  17. It's the first game I've played that nails the personality of the bots and it genuinely delivers a solid gaming experience alongside the nostalgia.
  18. Fortunately, this is not one of those failed adaptations and the fans have plenty to enjoy.
  19. If there's any one thing that can be stated about Transformers: War for Cybertron, it's that you should buy this game. The single player campaign is good, and the multiplayer portion is a surprise hit.
  20. So is the game worth buying? If you are a Transformers fan, skip to Option A, if you are not, Option B is for you.
  21. Don't expect anything mind-blowing here, but War for Cybertron isn't just good for a licensed game, it's a good shooter first with Transformers icing on top.

Benefits from breathless pacing and an impressive wealth of stuff going on. [Issue#194, p.90]
  23. Transformers: War for Cybertron focuses on intense shooting action and sets the example for the Transformers-license. The story isn't really interesting, but gives you more fun and variation than you would expect. Add an excellent multiplayer mode tot the whole and you got a game that will drag you through these summer days.

On the whole, War for Cybertron is a solid, in-your-face shooter that goes out of its way to appeal to longtime fans of the franchise.
  25. A great action game that borrows elements from all sorts of different titles, without losing that unique Transformers feeling.
  26. Transformers War for Cybertron isn't a bad game, nor is it something exceptional. It's another third person shooter that fans might enjoy, given the satisfactory storyline and some excellent voice talent. If you're a Transformers fanboy and would love to fight alongside your fellow Autobots, then this is the game for you.
  27. Now this doesn't mean 'Transformers: War for Cybertron' is a perfect game. Far from it, as it suffers from glitchy A.I. behaviour, claustrophobic environments, and some constant online lag, but as it stands, it is still one of the best "Transformers" games ever made, and joy to play for any long time fan.
  28. Transformers: War for Cybertron was set to be a great game. However, with the massive amounts of dropped matches and game crashes I experienced in multiplayer, it makes it a difficult game to really rely on and return to regularly.
  29. A well made homage to the Transformers IP that fails to innovate but succeeds, nonetheless. True Transformers fans should really consider this title, as it tells the origin story of their favorite sentient mechas.

It's not bad, exactly, and a lot of people are going to have fun with it just by virtue of the fact that they get to play as an awesome Transformer. It's just not as good as it could be.
  31. Even with the game's various problems I kept finding myself excited to play and looking forward to the next chapter to see which characters would be along for the ride.
  32. The best game to ever don the Transformers logo.

The multilayer is addictive but sadly ended when the big shot games came out right after it like black ops and halo reach. If it wasn't for those games the multilayer would be full right now but overall the game is amazing and the plot is excellent Full Review »

It can be suprisingly hard sometimes, and does retain some re-playability to unlock everything. Multiplayer is very well done, so more people should head out and go play this! Full Review »
