Tornado Outbreak is fun, simple and one helluva ride.
-
The combination of a cute story with straight-forward, extremely rewarding gameplay makes up for the low production values of certain game elements. And, with lots of hidden goodies to find in each stage and drop-in/out local two-player, Tornado Outbreak is ultimately worth the investment.
-
Tornado Outbreak is a fun, unique romp that will intrigue just about any gamer. The quirky story remains entertaining enough to keep you occupied, while the simplistic gameplay will keep you interested throughout its duration. The short campaign is probably my biggest concern, but with the ability to go back through older levels with your new powers is a definite bonus.

It came as a surprise to us, but we really enjoyed playing this game. Although the graphics reminds us of the PS2 era, the gameplay is quite fun. It’s a bit like Katamari, but with a windy touch to it.
-
As a game experience, it is an interesting product which distinguishes itself from other better-selling videogames, but its main shortcoming is its short durability.
-
Playstation Official Magazine UKPerhaps the most nonsensical game on PS3 - and all the better for it. [Christmas 2009, p.107]
-
The good gameplay and the quite good story make this game to an exciting one, even if the sound and graphics could have been better. The only problem is that you actually take over controls of a tornado and destroy cars, houses and other stuff people had to work for.
-
Games Master UKA nice twist on the Katamari template, but it soon gets repetitive. [Winter 2009, p.86]
-
Each level follows the exact same progression path, and this dull repetition ultimately makes what could have been a great tornado game nothing more than a funnel cloud.
-
Instead of making an entire retail version of this game, it would have perhaps been better to bring out the game as an arcade title. However Tornado Outbreak did surprise us, and therefore it deserves a nice mark.
-
It's cute enough, but this Katamari clone won't blow you away.
-
PSM3 Magazine UKFun for the first few hours, but ultimately pricey and repetitive. [Christmas 2009, p.82]
-
Playstation: The Official Magazine (US)Even the repetitive pacing and level structure can be forgiven, because it's simply fun to annihilate stuff. [Holiday 2009, p.85]
-
With its simple Katamari Damacy-like game mechanics and cartoon-like visual style, Tornado Outbreak manages to entertain despite a relatively short campaign and underwhelming graphics.
-
Play UKBland atmosphere. [Issue#186, p.82]
