Street Fighter III: Third Strike Online Edition

A great adaptation of one of the best fighting games of its time, with the phenomenal addition of an online mode.

Still, $15 is a small price for a remake of a game that I always considered to be better than Street Fighter IV. Many 2D fighting games have outright borrowed or stolen wholesale from the Street Fighter III series' formula, and for good reason -- there simply hasn't been a been a better 2D fighting game since. If you want to see how good at Street Fighter you really are, step up.

3rd Strike Online Edition provides a lick of paint that improve the dated visuals considerably.

The best Street Fighter game to be released on the downloadable market yet. It's the same game many of you have been playing for the last 12 years, only improved in every area.

As a whole, SFIII: 3rdS – OE is a celebration of a threequel that wasn't content to merely stand on the shoulders of the giant that preceded it and that in doing so delivered a fighting game that to this day feels incredibly vital.

The perfect example of a game that has actually aged better over time. There's something for everyone even if you never got into it twelve years ago. While the high level of execution may take some time to get adjusted to, it's ultimately worth it. The online multiplayer not only provides a near lagless experience, it moves the genre forward in terms of features and technology.

If I weren't such a 2D sprite-based graphics whore, I might give my experience with the game a 10/10, but that pixel distortion hurt me bad, so I have to go with a 9.

A careful, confident treatment of a classic game that's had more influence than it's had time in the spotlight. If you're interested in the history or practice of fighting games, this is a great chance to pick up a fighter that's paid its dues and proved its worth.

If you are a fan of the old Street Fighter games which wrote history, you will love Street Fighter 3: 3rd Strike Online. It's a solid remake with renewed HD character graphics, but stayed true to it's roots. The level of difficulty is as tough as ever, so if you have a bad timing, you're simply going down. The one bad thing is a stupid Hip-Hop Soundtrack in the menu, though the in-game sounds are great. All in all, the game sends you back into a typical amusement hall of the 90s.

Despite the problems of the online component, Street Fighter 3rd Strike: Online Edition remains one of the best, much appreciated fighting game ever in a great new HD version.

If you are interested in casual play, you're much more likely to enjoy Super Street Fighter 4 or Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo HD Remix, both of which are already available on PS3 and 360. If you didn't find joy in the fireball hurling antics of other SF titles, this one won't sway you either. You should probably hold off for Soul Calibur V. If you are a fighting enthusiast with an Arcade Stick, a lot of patience and a vast hunger for competitiveness, you'd be hard pressed to find a better experience than Third Strike.

Successfully revives a great game that twelve years after its initial release has a lot to offer to the fans of the genre.

In spite of its faults, SF III :3rd Strike Online is still a must-play for those who missed it before or for long-time fans just to experience the best-looking version of the game yet. Even though it is presently hampered by online lag and matchmaking problems, it's still worth its $15 asking price. Multi-platform owners are probably better off with the 360 version, since the stock controller is better for the game, and at least some of its online issues should be remedied soon.

An acceptable port, which simply adds online features (no duh) and some extra unlockable artwork. However, its strength is mainly carried by the smooth, solid gameplay already inherent in Third Strike and not by its newfangled embellishments.

The game doesn't do much for newbies and won't hold up very long for casual players, but there is one sort of person who should get Third Strike Online Edition: those who have played Third Strike in the past and want to play it again. Luckily, that's a pretty huge demographic.

As stated before, Street Fighter III: Third Strike Online Edition is the definitive version of the classic arcade game.

After more than 10 years, Street Fighter III: Third Strike is still one of the best fighting games.

This faithful port of Third Strike comes with all of the pluses and minuses of the arcade version, including tight, fun gameplay coupled with a steep learning curve.

The game is easily one of the best downloadable fighting games off of the store, so pick it up if you have never gotten the chance to try it out.

Capcom has done more than just slap an online multiplayer mode on its classic game, and the work has paid off! The few shortcomings are easily overlooked if you're a fan and most should have a great time playing it.
