Everthing good in shattered dimensions got screwed up in this one, the graphics are good, but there's no difference in the scenarys at all, shattered dimensions just did much better.

A huge disappointment. I had high hopes for this game because it was developed by Beenox who gave us Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions, one of the best Spider-Man games of all time. I had high hopes for this game because it was developed by Beenox who gave us Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions, one of the best Spider-Man games of all time. Unfortunately Edge of Time captures none of what was so enjoyable with Shattered Dimensions leaving us with little more than a mediocre experience. The main problem with the game is how repetitive it is, you'll be doing the same things throughout the entire game over and over again. This wouldn't have been so bad had the things you were doing been fun, but their not. You get to play as two different Spider-Men and they mostly play the same outside of some unique abilities for each one. The game seems focused on two things, opening doors and the number 3. It seems like every five minutes you have to open a door by either looking for the enemy who has the key, mashing the O button, or guiding a missile into the door. You'll do this so much that you might actually start to really hate doors in general. One of the other things you'll be doing is button mashing your way through seemingly never ending waves of enemies that are neither challenging or fun to fight. when your not opening some door or beating on some brainless goon, you'll be doing the old fashioned "must complete the sequence three times in a row in order to progress" shtick. here are examples taken from the game, at one point you have to collect DNA from a boss, how many times do you have to get a DNA sample? 3. Another time you have to flip switches in order to power down a machine in order to progress, how many switches do you have to flip? 3. You have to collect power devices from different rooms, how many rooms are there? You guessed it 3. I also had some camera issues. It all just gets tedious and makes the game feel much longer then it actually is. There are some good things here for Spider-Man fans, like a good story with some inside jokes, cool unlockables and a challenge mode, but it's all buried underneath tedious gameplay. This is one of the worst Spider-Man games to come out in a long time, and your better off skipping it. Expand

"Spider-Man: Edge of Time" starts cinematically well, but as the game begins to unfold, the gameplay and the missions instantly become repetitive making it another disappointing videogame in Spider-Man history.

An underrated game that I would argue has better writing than the first game Beenox made about Spider-man (Shattered Dimensions). A lot more depth between the two characters and lore about them than in the first game.

A very unique twist midway through the story.

it's good but not so much, ctrl c + ctrl v of shattered dimensions but now only 2 spider men but with improved graphics but very repetitive which makes the game very boring at times

When you play Arkham City you realize what Edge of Time is NOT. Namely enjoying a varied game which makes you feel like a true superhero. [Dec 2011]

The idea of having two synchronous time periods that influence each other is a good one, but there are too many shortcomings that make Edge of Time a frustrating experience. The story is told in a confusing way, the graphics are bland and so is the overall action. [Nov 2011, p.68]

While Spider-man: Shattered Dimensions is definitely a step back in the franchise it's not a drastic one per say. If you are a fan of Spiderman then the game can still be fun despite its many flaws. However if you are looking for a game with a lot more polish and then Spider-man: Shattered Dimensions should best be avoided.
