    Even though this RE is not scary, it's still a great game to play.
    It's recommended to play online with another person since the AI is quite dumb and can ruin your experience especially on harder difficulties.

    I’ve played this game on Playstation 3 when it was released I was already blown away by the graphics of it at that time compared to Resident Evil 4 which is already beautiful. You play as Chris Redfield and throughout the game you are accompanied by Sheva Alomar and probably the first Resident Evil game that i’ve played which allows you to have co-op multiplayer and this is something newI’ve played this game on Playstation 3 when it was released I was already blown away by the graphics of it at that time compared to Resident Evil 4 which is already beautiful. You play as Chris Redfield and throughout the game you are accompanied by Sheva Alomar and probably the first Resident Evil game that i’ve played which allows you to have co-op multiplayer and this is something new since not much resident evil games have this in story mode the level design were fantastic and the way they made the puzzles on certain levels are great although some are a pain but that is already common to the Resident Evil franchise the controls are slightly better but still not good especially when enemies are rushing towards you as usual what you expect in an RE game on top of that the story is great I recommend buying this game on PC but there is a remastered versions of the game running on 1080p at 60fps with sharper and smoother edges it includes all DLC on disc lastly the controls are better and responsive compared to the Playstation 3 and Xbox 360’s… Expand

    RE5 is a solid game that fails to deliver the same eerie feeling as previous installments. However the action focused gameplay is a nice twist on the franchise.

    Not bringing up the "classic vs new" Resident Evil fight, but this is a very action packed game, which gets you in the trouble we ask for in every one of the series. Some bosses are kind of a dumb transformation, but the scenario and the journey is pretty enjoyable to me. Some say it is cliche, I say if it amuses me, I will play with will.

    After Resident evil 4, the series started to focus on action and I really felt it in this game. The story was good. Mechanics, gameplay, graphics were very nice for its time. I can't wait for the remake. I hope it comes out soon.

    Its a fun game. The slow pacing adds to the panic. Now you have a partner, destroying any feeling of fear. Now, its sunny outside, destroying any feeling of fear. What happened to dark areas? Sudden zombie popups? The feeling of being the last person alive?(Although you weren't) This game killed all the zombie game cliches there were. And, what bothers me the most. When I have a full Its a fun game. The slow pacing adds to the panic. Now you have a partner, destroying any feeling of fear. Now, its sunny outside, destroying any feeling of fear. What happened to dark areas? Sudden zombie popups? The feeling of being the last person alive?(Although you weren't) This game killed all the zombie game cliches there were. And, what bothers me the most. When I have a full inventory. And my partner has a full inventory. And I want some herbs to heal myself, I have to swap something with my partner for the herbs. Then use the herb. Then get my previous item I swapped back from my partner. And plus, I wear armor in my inventory. My inventory is basically a backpack, I don't wear my armor on a backpack. Overall. The action is fun. But its not as scary as it was in Resident Evil 4. Oh, and whatever happened to all the cliche subtitles?… Expand

    Resi 5 is a good game but I thought that some of the levels were average in terms of gameplay and the tasks to be done. The graphics are excellent and despite what a lot of people say about " Why can't you run and gun?", it doesn't bother me. It makes it different. I finished the game quite easily on normal and I enjoyed it loads. There is plenty of replay value especially on Resi 5 is a good game but I thought that some of the levels were average in terms of gameplay and the tasks to be done. The graphics are excellent and despite what a lot of people say about " Why can't you run and gun?", it doesn't bother me. It makes it different. I finished the game quite easily on normal and I enjoyed it loads.     Resident Evil 4 was a huge change for the Resident Evil series. Though I didn't like this change at first, I gradually started to like it the more I played. Now that I've played 5, I realized the series is going in a direction I'm not liking. Co-Op and Mercenaries are this games only saving graces. The enemies are nowhere near as amazing or freakish as RE4. Nor is the gameResident Evil 4 was a huge change for the Resident Evil series. Though I didn't like this change at first, I gradually started to like it the more I played. Now that I've played 5, I realized the series is going in a direction I'm not liking. Co-Op and Mercenaries are this games only saving graces. The enemies are nowhere near as amazing or freakish as RE4. Nor is the game in the same zip code as the difficult in RE4... I was disappointed with the game, but at least it's not a huge failure... seriously, thank the co-op for that. Try playing professional on rogue and see how pissed off you get...… Expand

    The controls make this game fall short of being a 90+ game. If I want to conserve ammo in typical survival horror fashion and take out a solitary zombie with a melee weapon I have to run up to it and then stand there in place swinging until the zombie is stupid enough to walk into me. Either that or get hit by the zombie... If they patch the controls to be more reasonable the game will be The controls make this game fall short of being a 90+ game.     now for the good . CO-OP that doesnt suck like outbreaks . the co-op feature is the best reason to buy this game playing with a friend is just a blast . boss fights are still fun and exciting , LOTS and LOTS of guns ., the graphics are amazing . the controls felt ok to me i didnt have much of a issue like some did. fast paced action that rarely lets up . Now for a game that took 5 years to make i expected more out of capcom but its still a fun game if you have a buddy to play with if not then the game just isnt gona be as fun . Sheva shoulda been left out and clair or Leon shoulda been brought in .All in Alll RE5 isnt a bad game but it sure isnt a great game eather.    … Expand

    This game is brilliant. I spent most of my summer holidays playing co-op in the story. There is so much to do and you barely ever get bored. Howver i hate the fact that you cant aim and move at the same time. I feel that the online modes aswell are utterly hopeless i find it easy to kill other zombies, but against other players.     As a start I have to say that RE5 was not a horror game.Resident Evil 5 is a co-op action game with a pretty bad AI and bad controls.But I still think this is a pretty good game.Why?Well, the co-op is very fun,i love the mercenaries mode, and the boss fights in this game were pretty cool(Except the El Gigante boss,it was just stupid).There is also many different weapons and enemies in thisAs a start I have to say that RE5 was not a horror game.Resident Evil 5 is a co-op action game with a pretty bad AI and bad controls.But I still think this is a pretty good game.Why?Well, the co-op is very fun,i love the mercenaries mode, and the boss fights in this game were pretty cool(Except the El Gigante boss,it was just stupid).There is also many different weapons and enemies in this game, and you actually get to kill Albert Wesker.But I still hope that the next Resident evil game is a horror game, not an action game.These new Resident Evil games just feel like something compleatly different than the old RE games.… Expand

Yes because this is why resident evil games were always loved, & was always highly anticipated by gamers everywhere. And no because this represents a NEEDED change to the series. The graphics: holds up pretty good even as my review is late on this game lol good lighting & shading..great water physics,even destructible environments such as walls,Windows etc! the story: Its pretty good especially when wesker is introduced later as the main Villain & brings what seems to be an end to possibly the greatest video game villain ever created! the controls: work fine but seems like they were designed for a fps instead of a 3rd action game but are manageable & precise. there's lots to do here as Mercenary mode returns & also extra mercenary mode plus two new modes:Desperate escape & lost In nightmares as this mode attempts to win over the Survivor horror fans capcom turned their back on lol but falls flat because its too short & sadly kinda boring. The bad:it plays just like R.E4 so I was a bit disappointed by this as it felt all to Familiar! I mean its good they used R.E.4 formula but failed to improve on it as co-op is really the only new feature here which is good but if you play alone(NOT RECOMMENDED) the CPU player just sucks!! You can't buy or upgrade weapons during missions, & the inventory box is horrible as the amount of boxes easily gets filled!! Probably the worst aspect of R.E5 is the fact that the survivor horror theme is all but dead but as I stated earlier its clear that capcom isn't going to return the R.E series back to survivor horror but instead throw in small(& I mean small)scars in favor for large explosions...7/10… Expand

    Online coop saves this game from the AI partner, and helps getting the players to the impressive boss fights with minimal frustration. There's a frantic, desperate feeling to some of the maps, especially first time through the game. There's a mix between arcade-like sections of fun action, and other sections of confused survival and progression. You can play online or via computer controlled AI. Visually the game looks great, but the storyline and gameplay doesn't do it for me here.     you can upgrade your guns later in the game to be more damaging for example. Co-op can be fun sometimes but there will be times when your online partner can be a dick that will annoy you which leads to kicking him out of the game. Mercernaries is introduced where you or a partner can score a high amount on the amount of enemies you defeat and can increase the score by picking up special items to boost your score. Only problem i have is when the A.I will use up their ammo and suddenly heal themselves even if your at full health. another one is which weapon you would want to use over because if you find an awesome gun then the old gun you use will rarely be used and you'll give to your A.I partner to use for the duration of the game.

    Overall- RE5 is an okay for a Resident evil game but taking it as a action theme of it may lead to not being a survival horror series as it used to be if capcom keeps doing this as their route    … Expand

    This game is good, but not great for sure. There was not much horror like in the previous games of this series and i'm not a big fan of horror shooting games but this one was not bad at all. I liked the enemies and the weapon upgrade system and liked the background and art of the game. This game is not bad, however I find it pretty boring sometimes, and sometimes illogical and "one way only" to be played (e.g. you have only one way to kill the boss, I guess it was better to have "smart way" and "long way") which sometimes is quite frustrating. Other than that it's a fun game to play, I guess it's much better to be played in coop on-line, sine AIPlayed this game alone.     Me parece uno de los mejores juegos de la historia en playstation,por los siguientes motivos,la trama te engancha desde el principio hasta el final,es bastante jugable y buenos graficos,muy divertido y bastante largo,no mas que el 4 pero ya es mucho pedir,aun asi me parece un juegazo imprescindible y que debes tener si o si y que te encantara si te gusto el resident evil 4,simplemente esMe parece uno de los mejores juegos de la historia en playstation,por los siguientes motivos,la trama te engancha desde el principio hasta el final,es bastante jugable y buenos graficos,muy divertido y bastante largo,no mas que el 4 pero ya es mucho pedir,aun asi me parece un juegazo imprescindible y que debes tener si o si y que te encantara si te gusto el resident evil 4,simplemente es un juego que te marcara y que no podras dejar de jugarlo. It looks great and the mechanics are pretty good for a 3rd person shooter, although res4 did it better. I don't like that the game takes place mostly in the day, Capcom has some balls to have tried that with a resident evil game. the bosses areas a survival horror game, its an embarrassment, especially being a resident evil game. but the game itself is a lot of fun and very memorable.     First, I'd like to say that if you're a first-time player, play offline. Don't play co-op without an actual friend. The community is now plagued with hackers, trolls, and gamers who will    I am The Destroyer.     First, I'd like to say that if you're a first-time player, play offline. Don't play co-op without an actual friend. The community is now plagued with hackers, trolls, and gamers who will attempt to skip any cut-scene on you or else threaten to rage quit. They will also hog all of the items and ammo for themselves. Playing offline allows you to adapt to the physics and gain an understanding to how the main gameplay is, until you are comfortable enough to see the "real world" for what it is. More story skits also take place offline.

    1. Story
    The story takes place in 2009, where B.S.A.A. member, Chris Redfield is dispatched to Kijuju, Africa to apprehend a black market weapons dealer named Ricardo Irving. Due to the distrust Africans have towards Americans in the story, Sheva Alomar is also assigned to assist Chris on his mission. But as they prepare, they notice something isn't right. And when things go quiet, all hell breaks loose shortly after.
    The best part about the story is that it's introduced in a way where you don't feel left out for missing the previous games. Veteran characters like Chris Redfield are back, so it appeals to both new fans and old fans. But... There are a few flaws in the story to point out: first of all, the B.S.A.A. members have radio headsets with them, including the main broadcast from HQ, yet they'll sometimes act as if they don't have any contact with each other at all. Another flaw you'll notice is the lack of police/military protocol "Hands in the air, NOW!" type of deal. Can't explain more because this review isn't marked with spoilers, but if you're intelligent enough you'll figure it out. Finally, Chris should have died so many times... in just the story! Count it as you're playing through! Despite this; the story does manage to deliver a satisfying ending that most fans can agree with.

    2. Voice Acting
    Capcom follows the role of "If you're gonna play your part, you better do it right!" kind of deal. Always keeping the cast fresh, shedding new light on the Resident Evil universe.

    3. Graphics and Visuals
    The graphics are superb in every way & form. Not much else to say.

    4. Gameplay
    Gameplay refers to combat, customization, and various areas you can explore within the game. Put it all together and it's Awesome!

    -Battle System-
    This game is co-op focussed. What makes Resident Evil 5 unique for strategy is that ammo picked up is only given to one player rather than both. So if you pick up your partner's shotgun ammo they desperately need you'll have to give it to them manually. Of course this means nothing once you unlock infinite ammo.

    -Customization-
    Resident Evil 5 has a small bit of an rpg elements here, painting experience points with gold, and distributing them in order to buy or upgrade weapons. The great thing about this game is that you can upgrade any weapon you want in any fashion you want. It's possible to complete the game without upgrading but is significantly more difficult.

    -Exploration-
    The exploration in this game is just a point-to-point: get to this location, fight boss, and you win. There isn't any free-roaming and is just a one set path - something which most fans will be disappointed with. This slightly takes away from the atmosphere, as you're not able to come back and revisit an area without using chapter select.

    5. Soundtrack
    For a Survival Horror game, it kind of lacks it's elemental music. In fact, it drifts over to the point where it feels like an action game. The soundtrack stands good, but isn't great.

    6. DLC
    Finally, DLC that is worth phrase. You'll end up playing Lost in Nightmares and Desperate Escape only a few times, but you'll definitely revisit Versus mode, and possibly The Mercenaries Reunion. Each coming with their own filler & type of fun.

    8. Personal Enjoyment
    The main campaign feels short; but I had so much fun playing this game with my friends. We've put thousands of hours into this game because it was the best game to play after a hard day's work. Most of our time was spent in Versus mode, where we played as our favourites, and thought of unique ways to kill Majinis rather than killing each other.

    9. Overall Verdict
    If I could, I would rate this game a full 10. But personal feelings should only have a small impact on the overall score. And that's why Resident Evil 5 gets rated a 9 out of 10. Without DLC; it is only a 7 out of 10. Pick up the game because it's worth a playing at least once. I would say more about the game but the rest is better to experience personally.    … Expand

    I actually give this about a 7.5/10 because its not an 8 for me but neither a 7.
    This is the first resident evil ive played, and i did enjoy it enough to play the other ones. The gameplay takes time to get used to, its not like any ordinary shooter, and the graphics r pretty nice as well

    its not true survival horror resident evil game its just co-op action game its good as the game but very very bad as resident evil and the final boss is annoying if you want something to play with friends okay go buy it but if you want a true horror atmosfere go buy re 2 remake or 7 even the revelations are better then this like i said its fun game but sh%t resident evil title

    RE5 is a good game but simply not one of the best Resident Evil entries in the series. The setting and enemy designs were incredible, definitely lived to RE4 expectations and the gameplay was also in par with its prequel. I really enjoyed playing this story with the right length.

    I have played all the Res evil games but missed 5 and 6.... (Just finished 7) so thought it's about time I go back. Now I've rated this a 7 and that is because I loved it however I will be honest and say if it wasn't a Res evil game I may have not stuck at it.... The game play seemed hard work at times and the AI partner constantly took my gear from in front of me etc.... The ending wasI have played all the Res evil games but missed 5 and 6.... Control schemes taken verbatim from previous RE ports are best left to survival horror, and RE5 (no matter how badly it wants to be) is not survival horror. It is an action game, and as any thing trying hard to be something it's not, friction is obvious and frustration sets in quickly. The over-the-shoulder camera isn't suited for close-quarters combat, often leaving the avatar exposed to point-blank attacks on the left side that cannot even be seen. Far too often the game relies on QuickTime events instead of actual gameplay, but never telling you if you're watching a cutscene or playable stage, which often leads to you missing your button-mashing window and replaying the level from the last checkpoint. Your partner rarely seems helpful, and frequently runs off to other parts of the map only to die, causing both of you to go back to start. As well, your partner is allowed to revive you should you fall near death, but often they will be preoccupied or simply unresponsive and you die where you stand. Easily the worst trapping of "traditional" RE games is the limitations placed on your character's weapon/item carrying capacity, and RE5 is absolutely the worst of the bunch. Instead of an ever-expandable suitcase, a la RE4, your character and partner are limited to nine items each, which may sound like a lot, but it's far from it. When you take into account that each weapon takes up a spot, each box of ammunition takes up a spot, and your protective gear takes up a spot, it doesn't take very long into the game to get to the point where you are choosing between carrying a health aid or ammunition for your secondary weapon. I could go on for days about this game's faults, but the most unfortunate thing is that most of them seem intentional on Capcom's part to uphold the "tradition" of the series. Well, the series has always had some terrible aspects to it, and tradition alone is no logical reason to keep what could be a killer app mired in poor gameplay and design. Rent this one, folks. I beat it in three days, and have no desire to try it again.… Expand

    I wish i could give the game more credits but this game is more arcade and action based then the series original were.. i hoped it to be more horror minded and scary moments then action minded, for me the series are becomming less and less horror and more and more action based and for me thats a no go.     I loved RE4 and tried to like RE5, but the play mechanics are way too old and frustrating. The AI-controlled character, Sheva dragged down the experience and made it less than scary to boot. I wish I could have enjoyed this game because I'm a RE fan and the graphics are so pretty...

What is truly outstandingly bad about this game is the AI companion, Sheva. Her AI is absolutely atrocious. I'm not going to discuss too much about her poor herb mixing abilities (I have two green herbs and a red herb. I know, I'll make Green+Green and leave the Red), her mediocre shooting abilities, or her inability to help you chain combos. I will talk about her general combat tactics, which are just bad. There is a level where you are in a cross shaped corridor. Naturally, a sane person would go to the end of one of the crosses and funnel enemies inside, but Sheva insists on standing in the middle and take hits from all sides, no matter how much you call her over. Another instance is facing an enemy with a minigun. The strategy is to take cover and shoot when he's not shooting. However, she ignores cover and constantly goes to pick up a green herb and gets herself killed. When I injure the enemy and open up a window for a melee combo, she stands there and does nothing. I'm writing this because I've retried this part about two dozen times and still hasn't gotten past it. I know it may be biased to say this, but if the character's AI is that bad, there's something wrong there.… Expand

Throw in the occasional (and always unexpected) quick-time cut-scenes, which when failed usually result in instant death as well as almost constant gimmicky boss fights (one after the other after the other, which all revolve around repeating a strategy until it becomes tedious) and you've got Resident Evil 5 in a nutshell. The major fault with this game isn't its control problems or horrible story, but merely the fact that the series has always been built around these hallmarks and Capcom still haven't done anything to fix them. The scenario is literally threatening to the entire planet and they send two people in to stop it? Why is Wesker acting like he's from The Matrix? Why am I fighting cigar chomping Zombies with mini-guns? You'll find yourself asking questions like these time and time again. Resident Evil fans are going to love every minute of this, but those of us who don't think the sun shines out of Chris Redfield's ass and enjoy coherent gaming, are going to find it a real kick in the nuts. There were enjoyable aspects however, mainly certain levels of the game and a couple of boss battles stood out, making the game more enjoyable than it could've been. However, overall, I find this game mediocre more than anything. The gameplay systems work, but are far from perfect, and the story is pretty stupid, though there are moments of cheesy fun (which is the allure of the series). For that reason, I give this game a 6/10. Leaning more on the decent side of mediocre than the bad side. It has its merits, but it was not for me.… Expand

    The Resident Evil games has lost their charm and Capcom has completely forgotten the roots of the serie. This is cheap generic run and shoot with Co-Op. The puzzles in this game are so easy, they offer no challenge, they are just lengthly. I miss the zombies, the enemies in this games can handle automatic weapons. The chapters are also incredibly boring.

    This game appears to be great, but I played for just 1 hour in the PSN+ timed trial. Nice graphics, interesting story, but... why the hell you can't walk and shoot? Terrible gameplay. This game with Uncharted mechanics would be perfect! They used a overpast gameplay... You can't run, jump, shoot, make a parkour, etc. So sad...

    This game could have been good but, there is a few problems that keep me from enjoying it. 1. Your partner's AI SUCKS!!!! ( Although, it's not a problem if you play Co-Op.) 2. Not enough ammo. It's an action game but, you have to conserve ammo??? Overall, when you play Co-op its a 7/10. Without co-op, it's a 5. Overall, its a 6.

It's like there are too many frames of animation. Also actions like taking out and swiping the knife, and picking up items all seem to take too long in the heat of battle. It's also too common that a foe, like the "dogs" get under your feet or to your side, and it's actually difficult to aim at them. An auto aim like in GTA 5 or Red Dead Redemption, for example, would really help.
    Basically, the game throws enemies at you at a rate of an all action shoot em up, but makes you suffer through dated survival horror controls. It makes for a frustrating experience where you have to constantly run away and turn and shoot back. A duck-for-cover action is also missing.

    I didn't love the gold-collecting mechanic of RE4, but it least it sort of made sense in areas like the castle and churches. There's far too much of it in RE5, everywhere, and it just feels like a chore, as does all the box breaking.
    The truck mounted machine gun sequences are dull and just too similar to Medal of Honour or Call of Duty. Not subtle and a bit out of character for the series.

    The Co-op character doesn't add much to the experience. She isn't as bad as some make out, in terms of being plain unhelpful, but I find her a chore and a distraction not a fun addition.

    The graphics are detailed and the characters and enemies look quite realistic. However, aside from HD they are not a major step up in quality from Resident Evil 4, or particularly impressive in relation to other PS3 titles. In fact the HD Remake of RE is more visually appealing in my view, albeit with fixed backgrounds.

    To its credit, the enemies are suitably gruesome and varied, and there are some very memorable scenes and set pieces- like the part in the mines where you carry a lantern and enemies come out of the dark for example. Sound effects are great. Sniping works well.

    It's not a terrible game, but rather disappointing for someone keen on the previous main-series RE games. If you want action packed third person shooters, there are surely better options.    … Expand

After S.T.A.R.S went **** up after The Spencer Manion incident, Chris co-founded the BSAA, a task force dedicated to wiping out Bio-Terrorism, he must now go to Africa with his new partner Sheva Alomar to... do a thing, I forgot, because that's exactly where the story loses any and all intrigue, something to do with the Uroboros virus which is just Las Plagas recycled, it doesn't matter. The game also acts as the conclusion to the Wesker storyline started all the way back in RE1, and his scenes are the only good part about this game. as shown in that spin off game I hate, Wesker survived the Spencer Mansion incident and got cool super powers, why? How? I don't know, I didn't finish it, because I really didn't like that game... Code Veronica, I'm talking about Code Veronica. Jill is here too, in her worst appearance ever, I do not care for blonde Jill, she looks like a generic attractive lady in a 2010's video game, I do not like her here. And that's kind of it, Josh is cool too, hope he comes back in RE9.

    Gameplay wise, it's Resident Evil 4 again, so it's good, but where RE4 used it's clunky and limited movement to instill fear in the player in an otherwise campy action flick of a game, RE5 just feels annoying and clunky, adding to that is of course your AI partner.

    I'm going to write a review on RE4 so I'm kinda saving this for that, but real quick, Ashley Graham is a good addition to RE4, y'all are just bad at video games. Ashley is fine if you just take care of her, put her into the bins when going into a fight, that's all you gotta do. Your AI Partner in RE5 on the other hand, is bad, they use ammo and herbs, they aren't locked to your back like Ash is, and so can easily get in your way, and thought they do duck down if you aim in the direction, because the AI is being more proactive in gunfights, it takes them a second to do it, unlike Ashley, who hops down immediately, my point is, YOU GUYS ARE TOO MEAN TO ASHLEY... ok thank you, just needed to get that off my chest.

    There's a lot of co-op features and I hear they're fun, but... who's gonna play Resident Evil 5 with me in 2021?

    Overall, RE5 is fine, the story when taken on its own, is fun enough, the final act is pretty good, focusing on Chris and Wesker's relationship since RE1 and CV, the final boss is pretty cool, and Chris punching that boulder will never not be funny to me, so at the end of the day, I can't hate the game, and writing about it has made me rethink some things, and it's definitely not as bad as I remember it being, however I still consider it a dark spot in the series history along with RE6. Definitely a game worth playing with some friends and some beer.    … Expand

I waited so long to play this game, I have beaten resident evil 4 six times, each time in one sitting it is with out a doubt my favorite video game as for a survival horror story line go.     Ok, this game has a lot of flaws, i didnt finish it but from what i played it wasnt really good, the gameplay is kinda uncomfortable and even if it improves on what 4 did, it is a step backwards, its not fun to play and the setting and graphics arent very good either, sometimes the game gets a little bit too hard and just not fun, the story didnt grab me or anything and overall not a good game

    Oh how far this franchise has fallen since Resident Evil 2. This game starts off pretty strong, and couch co-op is great, but it quickly gets worse and worse the longer you play. By the last boss the game has degraded into absolute trash.

RE5 on the other hand, YOU STILL CANT MOVE WHILE YOU SHOOT. You extremely slower than your enemy. This only worked for RE4's pace but in RE5 you cant deny its gotten you killed several times. For example, you know you CANT outrun an axe wielding zombie and melee him with your knife just before it attacks. Why? Cuz you have to stop first. The same with reloading. RE5 enemies are too agresive to sport this control scheme. The fun is completely destroyed when you notice the game plays like a survival horror but youre tested to fight back like in the average 3rd person shooter. Its just a damn shame.… Expand

The 'horror' aspect fails because there's nothing standout about these zombies that actually makes them scary. They won't eat your brain or convert you into a monstrosity, instead seeming intent in cutting you up because a bloke with a megaphone (Who looks like a young Robert Mugabe) told them to. Also, there's not much horror in squeezing off pinpoint headshots with a laser sighted 50 calibre handgun. Look at Silent Hill 2 for horror, it's a deep, psychological game with frequent scares, an excellent story and a well-written main character. If you want an action game with over the shoulder gunplay and racism, look towards Uncharted: Drakes Fortune. If you want some sort of crazy hybrid, try Dead Space. Bottom line: Avoid RE5. I'm sure having another person take the place of the awful AI fixes most of the problems with this game, but the fact is, I don't care. I don't play games for multiplayer. Games aren't a social experience for me, that's what the pub is for, and I know a lot of people that feel the same. This game just verifies that Capcom would rather try and make a Gears Of War clone (Gears is terrible as well btw) than stick to its roots with a survival horror. Stop making Resident Evil.     Get someone to play wiht you anyway you can, Co-Op for Online, But it's hard to use the INV in this game even if you do have an actual person as your partner!

    Online is too laggy, the AI is thick, and it continues the plot of the original.

    While the controls remain the same this fails to accomodate for the increase in enemies charging at you hence shooting even becomes a pain. The plot then brings all previous Resident evil storylines together into a mash-up that makes no sense with the primary focus being world domination via poisoning the world and is just plain retarded. I've never been a fan of the "world domination" evil plan because it makes no sense your just making yourself in charge of the entire world which is an awfull lot of work. In this case Wesker plans on turning the world into zombies under his command, so he's making himself ruler of the world, a world of mindless zombies.....which is just plain retarded. All the boss fights are repetitive too, there all big bosses that you just point your gun at and shoot so even there boring. All in all it's a horrible game and a terrible take on the survival horror genre I hope capcom learns from this god-awful mistake.    … Expand

The controls and item management are pathetic and the co-op creates the most frustrating gaming experience I've had in years. Your partner wastes ammo, can't kill anything, and is generally useless.     ...The worst way to copy a greatest hit (RE4) this is a horrible game...¡¿Where the hell are the SURVIVAL HORROR PUZZLES Even is so easy and the graphics are so basic... i don't know why this game is called "Resident Evil 5"

    this game sucked so hard and wasn't even scary. When they tried making it scary it was funny! Horror games aren't supposed to be that way! Resident Evil 5 is such a bad game I don't understand why everybody says it's so great, sure the co-op was pretty cool but the gameplay sucked, the story sucked, the game sucked.

    When Resident Evil 5 first released back 2009, Gameplay turn from Good to Worst since became Noobish, Story was BS there was no good part, Series is even more Dead thanks to making Wesker out of Character with this Release.

    I was once Die Hard Fan but stop caring Since Series become crap once Resident Evil 4 Released.

    i did not like this game at all you cant move while attacking which leaves you open to attack every time you want to kill something and when you look around the camera is too sensitive and this can not be changed as well everything you do in this game feels unnatural and clunky i played the first chapter and gave up because of the bad gameplay

    why converting a true horror/puzzle game into pure action?!! WHY? whay happened to keys? The door is locked? no problem just blast the d**n thing! problem solved, and everybody is happy! THE HELL!! what happened to REAL puzzles like Planet 42    what is going on here? what the? who in hell call this game a Resident Evil game?

    In too many ways this is identical to the last game. That's not necessarily a bad thing - "RE4" is one of the greatest games ever made because it rewrote the rules for action games, setting a template for everything from "Dead Space" to "Dark Sector." Because of that this is still a damn near essential purchase. It's just a shame that the lack of evolution means it occasionally feels like it's lagging behind the very competitors it inspired.
