RD is the last Ratchet (and Clack) game to be released in the PS2 era and the last game that was developed by the OG devs, unlike with theRD is the last Ratchet (and Clack) game to be released in the PS2 era and the last game that was developed by the OG devs, unlike with the future R&C games for PS3, PS4 and now PS5.
Why am I saying this?
Well, because this is the last series to feature R&C against a world that is infested in corrupt celebrities and businessmen who think about fame and fortune first.
But enough about the story, how's the rest?
---- Music ----
Awesome back then, awesome even now.
I use it for jogging.
---- Art Design ----
The guns look sick, the area battles look fairly good.
If you wanna know why it's good, just look at the guns
---- Gameplay (The meat of the review) ----
Havin' finished RD for the 4th time in my life, there's no doubt why I got addicted to this game back then and now.
The game gives me a streamlined weapon pack to use but this time, with added mods that allow you to customize you strategy and thus play style.
It's all good and even better are a variety of enemies that can actually hit you unlike in modern shooters these days.
I will say that my only issue with the gameplay is the sections with all vehicles.
They're very out of place for me, and it breaks fun out of lvl-ing you weapons.
I know they're cool and all, but this is not Halo, where the weapons stay the same way.
Another minor nitpick I have are you "combat bots".
On one hand. they look cool and are handy to not break the pace of the action, i.e. they're the ones that hack & spin bolts with their ratchet.
But on the other hand, they don't really make the game more fun.
In all honestly, it's way better to play COOP with a friend than playin with the bots.
And again, they don't bring a problem, but the don't bring anything else to the table.
Other than that, this game is the first game to feature a difficulty option which actually gives me personally an excuse to play the game again in challenge mode.
Because, personally, I didn't have the urge to play R&C2 even though it was so good.
---- By the way... ----
If you ever pick this game on the PS3 somehow, never, AND I REPEAT, never press the multiplayer on the main menu.
It causes a glitch which disables the freeze time when switching weapons in single player.
This also happens in R&C3, a bug that was never fixed by the team that ported the old R&C to the PS3
---- Overall ----
This game is way wayyyy better than any shooter game out there, and it can out right rival Doom Eternal and Doom 2016 with it's weapon variety.
Yes yes, it's not that difficult, but it's way more fun than the new Doom is.
Because if there's a major difference between the old and new, is that the new always tried to be fun 1st and then challenging.… Expand
