Mar 14, 2011Rango deserved an A but on the other hand, at only four hours it is a far cry from acceptable for a game that is $50.
-
May 15, 2011Rango shows that successful movie ports can be done.
-
Mar 19, 2011Rango is yet another solid licensed game that obviously had some time and thought put into it.
-
Mar 15, 2011Ultimately, Rango's another example of how to do a licensed property justice. Rather than simply rehash the movie's story, EA and Paramount are giving players a new adventure to experience. It's a little on the short side – and even then it starts to get repetitive near the end – but it's definitely one of the better tie-ins I've played over the years.
-
Apr 11, 2011Despite the short length and lack of overall difficulty, Rango is a good game.
-
Mar 31, 2011Rango is a worthwhile experience for everyone who loved the movie. The length is sufficient, the presentation, gameplay, and atmosphere is all quite good, and the lighthearted style remains entertaining throughout.
-
Mar 9, 2011It is difficult to find a movie-based game that is really good, and Rango almost achieves it. It doesn't bring anything especially new, but overall offers a varied and entertaining adventure.
-
Jul 1, 2011Rango doesn't innovative in any particular way, but it proves to be a solid game all around.
-
Apr 28, 2011Rango is a quality example of it's genre and up there with the best movie-game conversions, but with only four hours from A to Z is only really worth a weekend hire.
-
Apr 3, 2011A perfectly good movie tie-in game. It has familiar, but well executed gameplay with the occasional road-runner or bat-riding diversion. This, together with good graphics and sound, makes for a tidy enough game for fans of the film. While there have been movie games to hate, this isn't one of them.
-
Mar 27, 2011Even though I was considerably older than the targeted audience for Rango, I actually enjoyed this quirky action platformer as I explored the Wild West with my smart alek yet at times cowardly and heroic chameleon.
-
Mar 16, 2011Rango isn't a revolutionary action-platform release, but it is a legitimately well-made title built in the mold of the some of the genre's best, and it genuinely engaged us throughout much of the adventure. Sadly, it doesn't last for long.
-
Mar 4, 2011An oddball attitude, some decent variety, and a dip into the surreal spice up Rango's otherwise tame action.
-
Mar 14, 2011In terms of controls, fun, and general wackiness, Rango reminded me of the old Spyro the Dragon games, except not as refined. It's a sub-Spyro game, but again, for a game that was based off a movie, it is quite good.
-
Mar 9, 2011It's very traditional, very solid and in gameplay terms doesn't offer anything new to the genre. Behaviour have, as mentioned, attempted to keep things fresh, but there's only so much they could do if their remit was to create a generic platformer.

Playstation Official Magazine UKApr 20, 2011If you see it in the bargain bin or have sired offspring in the last 15 years, this isn't the worst use of your moolah. [May 2011, p.118]

Play UKMar 21, 2011A game for kids, and not for an older generation weaned on more comprehensive gaming experiences. [Issue#203, p.94]
-
Apr 2, 2011Quotation forthcoming.
-
Mar 26, 2011The level design, added mini-games, and continuous action make the campaign surprisingly entertaining.
-
Mar 16, 2011Rango: The Video Game has some great moments. Unfortunately, those only constitute about an hour of the game; the other four hours are pretty boring for all but young kids and the casual crowd.
-
Mar 14, 2011Too shallow, too easy, too short. Yep, it's another movie tie-in that fails to engage.
-
Mar 8, 2011Rango is a licensed game that tries to break away from the movie it profits from, but it's way too short, easy and not very pretty. Clearly inspired by the superior Ratchet & Clank-series, but it fails to stand on its own two feet on all but a few occasions.
-
Mar 29, 2011Delivering its own story, within the original world of the movie, Rango mixes platforming, racing, and action. Rather nice looking and easy to play, the EA game clearly lacks substance, and provides less than 4 hours of gameplay. Hours during which one will easily get bored. It's a game that will probably be best suited for the really young, or really casual.
