Yes, its not the best looking game graphics-wise, that pretty undeniable. But with the latest patch and with most of the gameplay still being as fun as next-gen versions, this game is while not really the best on the ps3 is still not atrociously bad as some say it is.

Can patches fix the many problems of Shadow of Mordor? And will there come patches from Monolith? Are they able to fix the sound, framerate, bad graphics, etc?

I bought it yesterday. So far I the only issue I have with the game is that the loading slows down the game flow. I like the fighting mechanics. I definitely wouldn't say the game is unplayable. I've enjoyed it so far. By no means is it as good on the ps3 as it is on the ps4, but hopefully with some major patch downloads it will become a 9 scoring game for me.

This is one of the worst ports I've seen, barely playable. Among the issues: bad framerate, hilarious pop in textures, glitched sound, one glitched sidequest, terrible graphics, too many loading screens. Definitely not worth buying if you can get it on PS4. The game itself is pretty good, the nemesis and enemy breeding system is quite a nice breath of fresh air. However it's nothingThis is one of the worst ports I've seen, barely playable. However it's nothing extraordinary in my opinion, Assassin's creed 2 and brotherhood did the job much better, they had better locations and parkour elements (in here you only have 2 landscapes: wasteland, jungle). Story is good, finishers are awesome, and overall it's pretty fun to play. From a gameplay point of view it deserves something between 7.5 and 8. The PS3 port however deserves a 5 at best, and I'm a forgiving gamer, if you're too quircky about technical issues then this is not for you, you're gonna have a bad time. Expand

HORRIBLE PORT! at the beginning later after 1.01 and 1.02 the game is playable! i've spent at-least fourteen hours with the game! I LOVE IT! its not perfect but its not bad either! my biggest gripe is the loading screens! there's one for the menu to the map! it SUCKS! but it doesn't bother me to much. if you have the option get it on PS4. simplistic hack n slash with basic stealth, average graphics and fairly repetitive gameplay, plus frame rate issues and loading times mar the experience. unless properly patched, probably opt for pc or next-gen implementations.

A lot of fun, but it is fair to criticize the fact that it is a port. Sound did some odd things, slightly wonky. Camera creates problems with angles, too. I thought that with it being a late PS3 game, they would have gotten the most out of the system, but it left something to be desired.

Apart from Orcs that have personality and the nemesis system, Shadow of Mordor doesn't do anything new. The desolate landscape of Mordor acts feels like a barren wasteland with not much to do apart from ripping through Orcs which gets tedious after the 20th horde.

I tried really hard to finish this game, because it does have good qualities, but its many flaws were overwhelming (I completed about 60%). Lets start with specific PS3 port problems. Lets start with specific PS3 port problems. I didn't play the first version released, but in this patched version graphics are good, not better nor worse than most PS3 games released recently. The main problem here is the long loads every time you try to access the menu options and map. It takes a long time to access it and to leave it, making the game an exercise of patience. Advancing in the game makes this problem worsen, to the point it becomes almost unplayable. Framerate frequently drops, but unfortunately this happens a lot on PS3, I couldn't say it is worse than most games. I didn't experience sound glitches or freezing. General problems to me: First of all, lack of variety. The whole time you keep doing the same things over and over. After a dozen hours the game becomes very repetitive and boring. The main protagonist is not interesting at all, the kind of guy you could say is a pain, so as the NPC's. The game seems to be made only for The Lord of the Rings fans, and I'm not, neither the books nor the movies, so I didn't feel connected to the plot and I really didn't care much for what happened in the game. There is no much care with details too. For example, there are missions where I'm supposed to save human slaves from the beastie Uruks, and to complete the task I just need to release them, it doesn't matter if I do it with dozens Uruks around that certainly would kill them, the game considers the task done. Other annoying thing it is when there is special missions (I am avoiding spoilers) where you must kill an Uruk captain. Eventually he may try to flee, and if you don't catch him soon he just disappears (even if you are close him) and reappears in another place, far from where you are. Your character here moves mostly like in any Assassin's Creed game, for the good and the bad. Combat is good and can be very funny, advancing in the game makes you acquire new powers, moves and abilities, but keeping fighting the same orcs, uruks, caragors the whole game eventually kills the fun, and that's what you're gonna do all the time. The Nemesis system works fine and it is probably the best thing brought by ME-SOM, since it does a great job creating Uruk captains and missions, where you must intervene, or not, you may choose just to watch. There isn't a great variety of locations. As far as I played, there are two moderately big open world regions, but they change very little coast to coast, and even among them the only difference is that one is barren and the other is greener, but the plains, the mounts, the buildings and other things look exactly the same. I don't recommend for PS3 owners, and probably I won't try to play it again even in new gen consoles. Expand

After almost 5 hours of playing this game and when I was almost about to quit, the screen got frozen so that was the end for me with this game (oh! and the disc was new and I had already upgraded the game because I read that there would have been many bugs if I hadn't done that). Well, as a fan of the LOTR (although don't expect to be directly related with the books or the movies) I could enjoy it a bit but I found it repetitive and difficult so that's why I ended up quitting. Graphics are good so I don't know why they didin't do a game based more on the films or books. If you can get this game borrow from a friend, you can try it but I wouldn't recommend you to buy it. And I almos forget, you'll waste a lot of time when you go to the map or you want to upgrade your equipment and habilities because it takes a lot of time when you do that. So you'll be sick of waiting and watching a black screen. Expand

This is really a great game, there is so much to love about it, must play for sure, just keep in mind the PS3 version is kind of laggy at times.
