If you enjoy the Street Fighter series, or the Marvel fighting games that Capcom made back in the day then this is one you shouldn't miss.

In my eyes, Marvel vs. Capcom 2 is among the best fighting games ever crafted and I'm thrilled to have it on a modern platform. I judge this port--especially the PS3 version--"worthy."
  3. Capcom’s called it “the best fighting game net code ever created for consoles”. We’re inclined to agree. When all is said and done, if you’re a fighting game fan MvC2 is an essential purchase.

Overall, Marvel vs. Capcom 2 is pretty much a picture-perfect port that won't disappoint fans or newcomers to the series. [Sept. 2009, p.82]

The finest brawler that's currently available on PlayStation Network. [Issue#182, p.82]

Still a magnificent fighter but it lacks new features and the depth of its stable mates. [Sept 2009, p.80]
  7. A fighting classic that is truly worthy of your hard-earned cash!
  8. It may not be the most diverse package and it certainly won’t convert the non-believers, but for those who have fond memories of insane Wolverine and Spiderman and Ryu v. Cyclops and Cable and Sentinel bouts, it’s the same great taste you’ve enjoyed for years. And on top of that, it’s way cheaper to buy a copy of this download than any other method of picking up this game.
  9. It is the ultimate fighting game experience packed with the most insane and awesome gameplay a fighter has ever seen.
  10. It's a pretty over-the-top fighter, with a heavy emphasis on flashy supers and specials more than a complex combo/counter system, so it's not going to be for everyone to enjoy. If you're an old fan of the game though, you'll know what to expect.
  11. Taking the 2D online brawlers in the marketplace into account, Marvel vs. Capcom 2 is easily the friendlier of the bunch in terms of new players jumping in.

My only serious complaint is that the music utterly sucks in every way and is an affront to mankind that should be excised from the universe by the vengeful spirits of J.S. Bach, Duke Ellington and Hank Williams.

Although there are things to be improved in the online game of Marvel vs Capcom 2, this title is as fun as it was in 2000, and that's quite a thing to say about a videogame.
  14. Marvel vs. Capcom 2: Age of Heroes is a new acquaintance of mine and it's far too hard for our taste. The controls are exact, but difficult to master. This is considered the ultimate tactical fighting game, according to many, and we are inclined to agree. Well worth the money.

A beautiful and OTT retro title, but one where depth is obscured by effects. [Sept 2009, p.68]
  16. The rerelease of this classic brawler will gladly take you for a ride, but the trip isn't without its share of potholes.

There is a wide range of characters from both universes (Marvel and Capcom), and all of them have their own movements and attacks. The remastered version is also quite good, especially because of the graphic quality and the online mode (where there are many highly skilful players, by the way). Full Review »

The PS3 iteration had improved HD graphics and online play, two improvements to an already PERFECT game. It's balanced, nearly every character is viable and you can build some very interesting teams. Sure there are some exploitive mechanics weird players use, that is not enough to take anything away from the combat in this game, it's so awesome. The attack animations are at he apex of 2D fighting sprites, the IPs are about as cool as it gets for the genre, and the pacing and timing of the combat is superior. This is the most refined 2D fighting game ever made, and it stands the test of time and still is above and beyond anything that has been released since. Full Review »

It has an incredible roster of 56 of your favorite Marvel and Capcom characters. The Gameplay is super fast and super responsive. Since this game is no longer being sold on PS3 I highly recommend buying a Dreamcast, a copy of this game, and modding an arcade stick just for this absolute GEM of a game. You will have countless hours of fun learning new characters, and building your perfect team. CAPCOM PLEASE MAKE MvC4 Full Review »
