    For shmup aficionados and lovers of Japanese anime culture, Mamorukun Curse is a worthwhile play because it contains all the trappings of the genre with a few interesting twists.

    Mamorukun Curse! is a simple shooter that is insanely difficult to master. This game isn't for everyone, but for those gamers up for the challenge, they'll find a lot of fun in this title.

    So should you buy Mamorukun Curse!? As a fun afternoon for a casual shooter fan, by all means, go for it. But those looking for an epic challenge in the vein of Ikaruga, or a complete update of a once great genre, like Sine Mora, might come away a little disappointed. No matter what your final call is, I think we can all agree it is nice to see a new bullet hell shooter out there that isn't an App Store exclusive.

    Putting aside the quirky and cute foreign styling and the heavy framerate dips, the gameplay is solid, if for nothing else but a “turn off your brain” kind of arcade fun.

    Mamorukun Curse is a very short game. There's about seven levels, each one lasting for ten minutes. However, the difficulty (even on easy) isMamorukun Curse is a very short game. There's about seven levels, each one lasting for ten minutes. However, the difficulty (even on easy) is extremely hard, so what makes up for the short time is challenge. You will die a lot and replay stages a lot. If you loose all your lives, game over, you will be returned to the title screen.

    Some may say the graphics are outdated, from the PS2 era perhaps. Even if true, the graphics are really cute and fits the overall tone of the game. The enviroments are varied and stands out on their own. The enemies and characters fits every levels theme and shows the fullest potential possible. With a price tag of 5 bucks on the PSN store, you won't be at a huge loss even if you dislike it. The price is a bargain compared to Japan, where this got a physical release and was sold for 55$.

    A great game for arcade fans, an even better game for anime/manga fans. With a cheesy story to go, it will make a great game for the latter.    … Full Review »
