    By far the Best GTA alongside Vice City and Chinatown Wars. This game is just great, has incredible gameplay and physics, icredible characters and missions, and an incredible story. Sure, at the start it feels kind of repetitive, but that's exactly how the game wants to express the fact that there is no difference between his life in LC, and his life during the war.     whilst the driving and the shooting mechanics aren’t the best the overall experience cancels this out with an amazing story, great characters and atmosphere, it has 2 DLCs that bought back what the original game was missing such as tanks. The game also offers an online mode, despite the main mode being the single player story mode, it provides a way to experience the world with other people. Overall glitches aren’t too common and on a PS3 the game runs quiet well. There’s also a fun unpatched glitch where you’ll be able to to launch things (including yourself) off a swing… Expand

The theme and the tone of the game was dark. It gives you choices, like life gives you, questions your morality and doesn't justify crime.
    Revenge can't satisfy you and The American Dream isn't always good.

More than a video game it's like experiencing a movie, excellent story, main character has depth, a degenerate society masked by glamor , they think that where they go will give them many choices, but actually there is not choices, If there is a choice, they are all trade-offs. The nature of American society through a satirical perspective. Graphics very nice,colors create sadness, the color is a bit cool fit for story, perhaps RS wants players to feel the same way with Niko. Gameplay exciting. Mission story, ramdom charter, side game, all very good. Many people are not satisfied with GTA IV, I started playing GTA Vice City first and then GTA SAN, GTA IV and V.     This is arguably the greatest game ever, with arguably the best main character ever. Highly recommended to anyone that hasn't tried it yet. Holds up exceptionally even today

    A game with an interesting plot, colorful characters, a great atmosphere that lasts until the end. There are disadvantages, for example, soap graphics and the length of the plot, but as for me, they are tolerable against the background of the advantages.     This game is the game that brought me back to video game playing. It is completely immersive and stands the test of time. It is a must own and must play. After 4 playthroughs, I am still not bored at all. It is such a good game that even adding your own music and just driving around the city is fun.

People would argue that the game isn't underrated though since it's the joint 2nd highest rated game in Metacritic's history but in terms of the user reviews, they don't believe that this game shouldn't have as high of a rating that it does which I can see to an extent.     11/10 Must play, best game of the PS3. This game contains very realistic mechanics. It's very advanced for its time. For a 2008 game, the physics are very well developed, and overall the game feels very realistic. Everything about it feels like that, from the city ambient to the NPC's interaction.

    GTA 4 is hands down my second favorite gta game right behind GTA sandandreas, and the first time playing it I just didn’t really feel the magic but as I got older, I loaded it up again and my god it was amazing. It’s not as like goofy as some of the others but that’s kinda what makes it feel more real and more intense. I really liked the idea of being this everyday guy making moves in a big city and sure that’s pretty much all gta games but in my opinion gta4 tackles it the best. I can definitely see how some people would find it repetitive but like what I do is pretend I’m in this situation in real life and really grasp the feeling of the pressure these characters might be feeling and it makes the experience way more intense. There’s literally a mission where you are told to plant this truck in someone’s garage but then you get a phone call and are told that the truck is rigged with explosives, so now imagine your doing that in real life like that’s some intense **** It’s definitely a pretty mature game which is probably why some people choose to put it down but when you look at it (or any other video game) like this it’s a whole new experience… Expand

    I played this game ages and ages ago because my friends told me that the character is based off of me my actual name is Niko I am a Balkaner adidas wearer so I played it for the jokes, but THIS WAS THE BEST EXPERIENCE EVER, only game aside for Red Dead 1 and 2 I cried at their ending. 10/ADIDAS for me.

    Most underrated GTA game. It has the best story, best characters, best development in any Gta game. I think that the only problem that it has is the game play. It's a little sloppy but I think lowering the score because of it is unnecessary. For me, it's the best GTA game and overall, one of the greatest games ever.

    The characters have actual interesting back stories and each character have their own taste of humor,jokes,personality And etc.
    Every mission is just perfect it can explain stuff you may not know about and may even have a betrayal or a sad thing that you also might not know.

    this game is fantastic, as many people say it is not neither the perfect game nor the perfect GTA but it has his unique personality and that makes it amazing, love this one with the best character in all GTA games and one of my personal favourite videogame characters

    Just about the only critic I can give towards this game is the visuals aren’t as good as later in the ps3 generation but, they didn’t fully understand the power at the time but, this game is still a masterpiece.

    GTA 4 is better than GTA 5 imo. Car physics of GTA 4 are far beyond GTA 5. Atmosphere is effective.

    When a game's loading menu is something that can have influence over people, I think it's unnecessary to talk about the game then. A bit darker and serious GTA game, unlike the other games of the series, but still, you time and energy will be fully worth it!

    Still very much, all things considered, not just one of the greatest games created of all time, but one of the greatest pieces of art. A story, and a setting, and an ominous and helpless feeling, just as cutting and relevant today as it was in 2008.

    Este é com toda certeza o melhor GTA de todos os tempos. Mecânica de dirigibilidade insana, a euphoria então... nem se fala. Quantas horas passei assistindo vídeos no youtube de "stunts" até ter condição de comprar meu xbox 360 e jogar essa obra prima. Eu sonhava com isso assistindo este tipo de vídeo todos os dias por pelo menos uns 3, 4 anos. Viva o American Dream...

I mean: it's great, but factors like innovations and defects like Framerate and some controls that don't work quite well (aim, for example) have been completely ignored.     Brilliant, but not perfect. The storyline and characters, especially Niko and his relationships with other denizens of Liberty City, are what make it so compelling. Main flaws are a somewhat dodgy camera and some twitchy vehicle controls. Still one of the best games in ages, though.

    Brilliant story, great characters, fantastic atmosphere but the RAGE engine definitely has its problems - most notably the framerate is absolutely horrible and IMHO almost never reaches 30 fps. The PS3 version lacks antialiasing (360 has 2xAA) which is compensated by some sort of blur filter which makes everything a little bit too muddy. It's definitely not deserving 100%.

    very good wonderful settings and surroundings only let down was the control of the cars. it is extremely hard to steer. apart from that the game is perfect.

They all follow their preset formats. GTA takes on the form of yet another villain ariving in Liberty City. You get all the things you got before and even more. There's nothing really bad about this game. If A lot of people say that this game is a lot like all the other GTA in the series. But I ask you, is that not what all game series are are? From Tomb Raider to Duke Nukem to Fifa. They all follow their preset formats. GTA takes on the form of yet another villain ariving in Liberty City. You get all the things you got before and even more. There's nothing really bad about this game. If you've played the other GTA games then you have a fair idea what you have to do, if you have never played it before it won't take long to get used to it. What makes this one slightly better than any other titles of the same name, is that it's not based on forming a gang. Remember the last GTA you had to form a gang, and it was all typical sterotypical American Style Gangsters. Well it's not this time around. You are integrated slowly into the Liberty City UnderWorld of corruption. Doing menial tasks to begin with, but with the use of Email and Mobile phone you stay in constant contact for missions. You forge relationships between the characters and even get the choice now and then to eliminate some of them. You make friends, and this allows you a break from the missions by visiting strip clubs, bars (getting drunk), play pool, bowling, darts and many other activities. The shooting and cop chases are totally revamped. The characters are interesting and plausible. Why did I give it a 9? Well here's the thing, every game that I buy there is never any sort of young people, animals or anything in there. No dogs, no cats, no kids, nothing really. It's all the same characters from adults to oap's. Now I'm not saying that you should be able to hurt the dogs, cats, fish, kids etc. it would be nice to see them. Because I've never visited a city that didn't have them. That for me takes the realism from the story and the game play. I know it's petty, but this day and age it can't be that hard to program so alternate characters. In fact you don't see grave yards or anything like. There are freighters parked at the docks you can't steal. Planes at the airport you can't steal. It just seems to me that you're going to build a city then you make all the vehicles accessible. There isn't even any bicycles, skateboards or anything there. You can't walk down a street these days without seeing some kids skateboarding, in any country. So for me, it gets a huge thumbs up, but the environment is a little stale and could use a brushing up of characters, like kids, dogs, cats, fish, a stray bear, and how about some fish in that water, a shark or something would be interesting.… Expand

    This game has a lot of realism and makes the video game playing community take a real look at the series. Grand Theft Auto IV has become a next-gen game for a next-gen system. There are a lot of buildings that you can walk into like the previous games of the series, however the graphics and the modernization of the city very well makes up for this.

    What else is there to be said about this game? This game is just awesome. Taking a cab and enjoying the ride in the back seat, is one of the most realistic things I've ever seen on a video game. Fantastic game.

    Grand Theft Auto IV is not a perfect game, but it is fantastic through and through, from start to finish and beyond. It is so massive, vast and impressive that it is almost mind-boggling to imagine how much work must have gone into the game to come up with so much detail.
