More of the same: terrible level design, cheap enemy spawning, poorly thought-out mechanics (avoiding monsters who are lying down is a snap: if you can pull a body toward you with kinesis, it's just a corpse. If for some inexplicable reason your kinesis won't work, it's a necromorph waiting to ambush you), etc. It's frustrating that the overall gameplay and sound design are so excellent,More of the same: terrible level design, cheap enemy spawning, poorly thought-out mechanics (avoiding monsters who are lying down is a snap: if you can pull a body toward you with kinesis, it's just a corpse. Extremely linear, extremely shallow, and extremely repetitive. You just walk down hallways and shoot things that run at you, and then wait for the door to open for the next area (and there are a ton of slow-opening doors in this game), then repeat. And despite what you may have heard, this game isn't challenging. Yes, you will die a lot, but only because it's so cheap. And despite what you may have heard, this game isn't challenging. Yes, you will die a lot, but only because it's so cheap. Most of my deaths were because I didn't know what was coming at me, or from where, and by the time I figured it out it was too late.... die and restart at checkpoint, and do it again... it's just trial and error. There is no strategy, no depth, and it's just the same thing over and over, and it's not scary in the least. After about 6 chapters of walking, shooting and waiting for doors to open, I turned it off from extreme boredom. This isn't a game; it's a ridiculously long tech demo with a story, like most of today's "video games". Rent it or forget it. Expand

The game is just like the first with not much new, the worst thing is the hack change, it's just so buggy, makes it from a 7 to a 1, how do they let this crap get in games, there's nothing fun about it.

Predictable, repetitive, boring. I couldn't play it for more than about 30 minutes at a time. Seems very rushed toward the end with nothing but the same 4 or 5 generic enemies only thrown at you in greater number. Stay away from this one. Nothing innovative or exciting here. This game deserves a high rating, because I know it's good. But the game keeps on freezing on ps3. Reinstalling doesn"t help tough. The CD has no scratches and harddisc is fine too. It is barely playable in this stage. Hoping for patches for such an old game is hopeless. Gonna try out the remake instead.

Perhaps the lack of anything new limits the impact of this sequel. The storyline isn't riveting, far from it in fact, but for players who reached the end in the original; you'll want to see what else is going on in the Dead Space universe.

The transition between CGI and gameplay delivers a great horror atmosphere. Isaac Clarke's got personality and we are only missing some bigger bossfights.

With this sequel, Visceral Games has masterfully expanded on the first Dead Space. They've revved up the series with tougher guns, a bigger setting, and online multiplayer, but kept the spirit and, most importantly, the scares of the original in tact.
