    I’d recommend you don’t listen to those BF fanboys that rated this a 0/1, saying “this is some $60 ****/copy of mw2”,to then call BF3 “activision, take notes this is a *real* FPS for the ps3 it’s a game of skill because mw3 is for babies and noobs, better graphics, better multiplayer and better game overall”.

    Wrapping up the trilogy in a very action-packed campaign, with levels like Turbulence, Stronghold, and Dust to Dust, bit short for some, but a good campaign.

    Spec Ops was brought back with Survival mode, it’s Zombies, but in each Multiplayer map with difficulties, stations for guns, armor, explosives, and air support, with enemies for each round, depending on the map’s difficulty.

    Haven’t tried Multiplayer yet, because errors every time I try, might be because servers are shut down or something, and I didn’t have the Elite subscription. Looks/Looked fun, though.

    Even if it is an overpriced MW2 expansion pack, bringing a few minor tweaks, guns, and features, it doesn’t need to be something completely different. Sure, all CoD games have something different, something new, but really, I don’t care, just as long it’s actually good and fun to play with.

    By the way, the people who loved all other CoD games right before this one will say that they played it and it was a joke/map pack, and they’re not BF fanboys, but, if it’s an extension pack for MW2, then it’s just as good, isn’t that what they’re saying? They’ll #2 CoD MW2 on any CoD tier list, yet put CoD MW3 on the near-bottom, with “it’s just CoD MW2, but with a few new things, new campaign, and no nuke”, then it’s just as good.

    9/10.

    Game's phenomenal.The only reason it has such a low rating is because people are just comparing it to its predecessors instead of just looking at the game itself.
    The campaign was incredible fun. Many differently styled missions that all end up in a pretty cool ending.
    Co-op is a lot of fun with friends.
    Multiplayer is the best I've played so far.

Now online play is pretty nice, you have like 13 out of 16 maps playable (for all I know they could be all playable on alternative modes), and they're all pretty great. Definitely much better than the maps on Black Ops 2. The weapons are all pretty balanced (I think it's only realistic that LMGs never get any use in the actual online play), and you rarely find cheaters so it's all pretty good. The setting and scenarios are familiar, but ramped up to 11 with a fantasy World War 3. The well-loved characters from the previous Modern Warfares are back (Soap & Price) but there is little connection felt with the others, particularly the new playable protagonist Yuri. Multiplayer is all that you've come to expect, which is both a good and bad thing.

When it comes to The single player campaign is amazing and it does exactly what one would expect from the series. New beautiful environments, tight controls, and new additions to your arsenal. The multiplayer is just as amazing. They have really added some major improvements. Now your rounds can get recorded and you can save the recordings and upload them for bragging rights. They also have made it easier to join a match with your friends which is a major plus. I won't go to in depth with this review because I don't want to spoil it but PLEASE don't listen to the other reviews. Theres a reason why MW3 does as well as it does and this game deserves the sales and recognition it gets. As they say it gets lonely at the top.

    Modern Warfare 3, though not as good as it's predecessors, is a fantastic game. It's a bit similar to MW2 but hey, it's Call of Duty. What do you expect? A hack and slash game with a bit of RPG element? You came to the wrong place.

    Call of Duty gives you more of the same, like many other franchises, and that's what Call of Duty should do. People talk about how Call of Duty should change but no one contributes any ideas and the formula sells so why change it? Hence why there are so many negative reviews here and you can tell some just follow the bandwagon, not having an open mind or an opinion for themselves.

    The compelling campaign and stellar multiplayer modes is what makes Call of Duty. Call of Duty can become a football game but then it wouldn't be Call of Duty and the franchise has enough b****es jumping on the bandwagon, boycotting the franchise and using the same excuse to hate the franchise every year "it's the same thing", so change is not going to solve anything. If anything, it'll make it worse.

    Even if they use a newer engine, with loads of haters complaining about the "dated" graphics (graphics isn't everything y'know), there would still be haters. Same amount as it is today. It runs consistently at 60 FPS which makes up for it's graphics, it's not the best but it still looks good.

    Consistent frame rate is required for competitive play rather than graphics that makes you go "wow" and there are loads of better looking games such as Uncharted as well as Final Fantasy. Because that's what makes Call of Duty the fast-paced, addictive shooter that it is today. What makes Call of Duty the most famous shooter?

    Simple, this game offers what very few games offer, you know, sometimes there's nothing like running around stabbing people or quick scoping and running while shooting on all directions. Call of Duty does that better than any game, that's what the fans like and that's the right answer. There are many worse games out there. Prison Break: The Conspiracy, Terminator: Salvation and Killzone (PS2) are just some of the games that are worse than Call of Duty.

    Survivor Mode is an addition to the already seen Spec Ops. It's not original but it's a great addition to the franchise that surpasses zombie mode in Treyarch's Call of Duty. Enemies don't spawn in the same place. Instead, they move tactically based on your current location so you can camp in one spot and shoot all the enemies but you can't do that forever. It lets you practice all the weapons seen in multiplayer so the skills that you've learnt can be extrapolated and transferred into multiplayer, Call of Duty's highlight feature. Zombies is just for fun but it's not really that fun anymore now that Modern Warfare 3 has Survival Mode and, hopefully, we'll see it again in Infinity Ward's next Call of Duty (presumably titled Modern Warfare 4).

    Multiplayer has some great new modes that adds more depth into the multiplayer mode. Infected is like zombies and it's really intense as well as addictive. It's a fun mode for those who don't care about their KD ratio. Kill Confirmed is another good one, it's TDM but you collect dog tags that counts as a kill. This is a bit more team based mode as opposed to the regular TDM where players are free to wonder about.

    Killsteaks is revamped so it's now called Pointstreaks. Kills doesn't just count towards your Killstreaks anymore. Completing objectives such as planting bomb or capture the flag counts towards Killstreaks and this encourages players to play the objective in objective based game modes.

    Killstreaks are organized into three different strike packages. Assault for chopper gunners, Support for UAV and Specialist for more perks. These are also customizable so you can have one class where you have the Assault packages and in the other class, you can use Specialist so you don't have to go back to the menu to change your Killstreaks; just customize them from your existing classes.

    There's a lot of features in Modern Warfare 3 that haters fail to see. Prestige Shop encourages you to prestige. You get a token every time you prestige and you can use that token to buy double XP as well as an extra class. Each weapon has Proficiencies, which is basically perks, and you can only use one at a time. You can have one where you can add an extra attachment, one that reduces recoil and many more.

    Overpowered perks and dolphin dive, seen in Black Ops, have been removed so the game is more balanced. Infinity Ward fixes bugs and glitches unlike Danger Close, who did a bad job with Medal of Honor: Warfighter. With that being said, Modern Warfare 3 has gone above and beyond the Call of Duty with an amazing campaign as well as stellar multiplayer modes.

    FPS fans, don't miss out. Call of Duty lives up to the hype, and this game is how Call of Duty evolves. IW takes a streamlined approach, which is why MW3 isn't as good as MW2 and Call of Duty 4. But still, IW did a good job with the Call of Duty franchise.

    The one's giving this game a zero are the true bandwagon jumpers, not the ones who are rating this oblectively. Of course this game is same-y, and I would give it an easy 10 if it was not. But it is still an (obviously) awesome game. Do all fighting game sequels, ALL sports games, side-scoller sequels, and basically all sequels deserve a zero because there overly similiar to the previous game?

    Great game. Most people were but they were too earlier as free DLC came out for a new gamemode called Face-off, including 1v1, 2v2 and 3v3. With small, fun maps. Better killstreaks like support (For noobs, I don't use support) and a way of recording videos and uploading them to YouTube very easily. Great first person shooter, you should get it. Ignore those bad reviews.

To start with, the improvements Modern Warfare 3 made from Black Ops, at least on the PS3 version, are staggering. After playing close to probably 500 matches on multiplayer, I can say that the connection in multiplayer is perfect compared to my connection in Black Ops and Modern Warfare 2. In the 500 matches I've played, I've had games end only a hand-full of times, which is far more than I can say for Black Ops. Host-migration always goes through without the game ending, again there is only a hand-full of times where it did not go through. Me and most of the 50 people in our clan agree that MW3 is far better than the PS3 version of Black Ops. No more do we have to try 5 times to get into a lobby with everyone there, or to have to re-invite people that mysteriously disappear when we back out. Playing with my clan is SO easy in MW3 with the integration of Call of Duty Elite. Elite is an absolute God-send for clans. It also adds another reason to play, with clan ops. The addition of Elite, and vast improvement in connectivity could have me saying that MW3's multiplayer is the best I've played. If it wasn't for the maps. My. Gosh. Do the maps in MW3 disgrace the lineage of COD4, and even disgrace MW2 AND Black Ops, and I'm not even talking about the DLC. The dumbest move Infinity Ward made in development of MW3 is out-sourcing the map designs to Sledgehammer. All those brilliant map designs that made MW2 so fun, and even Black Ops, are gone in this game. Whatever happened to map designs like Terminal? And Afghan? And FAVELA!? And what about huge open maps like Wasteland? It's all street combat, and not even, all the maps are just a bunch of hallways, there's no open areas. The DLC maps disgrace MW3's OWN maps. They're confusing as all hell, and yes there are open maps, but they're circular in shape in so there's tons of flanking, and if that's not the case, the maps are cluttered with obstacles so there's no real long-range sniping in any of the maps. I've never even used a legitimate sniper class except to have fun with MW3's Intervention, the MSR. Speaking of a gun, the guns in this game are much improved. Personally, I hated the guns in Black Ops. If you were not good at run-n-gun with rapid fire, you were **** out of luck. The FAMAS was quite simply...you know what, I can't even talk about the Black Ops multiplayer because it LAGGED SO BAD! The M16 was useless because of the lag, that's how bad it was. Anyway, because this game is more geared for clans, I find myself using an anti-air class with an LMG. The LMGs have been improved so MUCH from any of the previous games. The MK42 is one of my favorite guns. I have a dedicated LMG class for when I play with my clan. The BF3 beta got me hooked on using a support class, and so it was awesome to be able to do the same in MW3. I don't know where the multiplayer ranks among Cod games, but it's pretty well done. I can not say the same thing about the campaign though. The gameplay in the campaign is awful, it is so boring, and all the missions are tight, enclosed spaces, just like the maps in multiplayer. The only objective in the entire campaign is to follow the leader, essentially. Everything is so scripted, and every 5 seconds you have to wait until something happens so you can move forward. Everything is so innately linear about it, that exploring has absolutely no purpose. You might as well not even have objectives either, because it's impossible to move on without completing them. However, some of the levels break the mold and are awesome to play, but then the next level goes back to being boring again. It's very easy to see that the problem is that the COD series needs more imagination. If you go back and play COD1, you will find a completely different game, it will blow your mind the changes that have occurred since then, i.e. the Eder Dam, for instance. Overall, and you can see this in the entire game, Call of Duty needs to do something completely different. I've played hundreds of hours in this game, but I don't want to do the same thing again come next November, i.e. Black Ops 2. Expand

    While not living up to the amazing game that was Modern Warfare 2, this is still a great installment to the world's most popular game. If you can ignore the small children and the butthurt fanboys, it has a good multiplayer experience. The campaign is lacking as usual, which keeps this game from a 10. However, it is definitely worth picking up.

The multiplayer is Call of Duty. What did you expect all you reviewers giving it 5 and below? Most of the multiplayer maps are interesting visually. The weapons and upgrades are well done but I still don't think the guns sound realistic. Every FPS developer should learn from Ubisoft when it comes to making realistic gun sounds. Take the M4 in this game for instance. What the f is that all about???? It sounds like a mix between a 50 caliber machine gun and some sort of heavy cannon on a gun ship. Yo, it's an assault rifle so that means, like all assault rifles, it should sound like a friggin RIFLE!!. Anyways, giving this game a score below 6 is just silly unless you are comparing it to Black Ops. By the way, Black ops is still not a perfect game because the single player campaign's story idiotic. An escape from a Russian gulag?? Why? Fighting Germans?? Why not just leave the thing in Vietnam? Anyways, youv'e got to take into account the dogdy FPS shooters out there before giving this game a zero or something like that. There is so much good content with just the spec ops and single player campaign. The spec ops section is better than anything out there currently I think. Even better than BF3. Expand

Well, I'm happy to report that while it certainly has its flaws (We'll get to that later) Modern Warfare 3 is a well executed, well crafted first-person shooter that is a worthy sucessor to MW2. The story picks up where the last Modern Warfare left off, after suffering defeat in their failed attempt at invading the united states the Russians launch an all out invasion of Europe. Now, members of The United States Military and Task Force 141 must find a way to prevent global armageddon. The story, while it is so convaluted (Russia could never invade the US!) it is still entertaining as hell, it provides closure for the trilogy (No cliffhanger this time) and provides for some epic cinematic set pieces. The game still runs on an excellent 60 frames per second, which adds to the silky smooth feel of the controls. You're either a fan of this gameplay by now or you're not. The campaign still features excellent variety, one moment you'll be providing cover for a squad in an AC-130 and in another you'll be tearing up enemies in a UGV (Unmanned Ground Vehicle), these stop the game from feeling repettitive and makes it fun to play. Along with the campaign that'll take you around 4-6 hours to complete, you also get a revamped Spec-Ops mode, which now includes a survival mode where you along with another player try to survive against endless waves of enemies weilding weapons (No zombies here if that's what you were hoping for). While it isn't nearly as awesome as Zombies, it is still a blast to play. The Spec Ops missions are also really well done, and are fun to play through multiple times. The level design in the single player, special- ops mode/survival mode, and the multiplayer is exceptional and is a step up from the previous Modern Warfare games. So I've mentioned the positives, now it's time to talk about the negatives. While the graphics engine isn't terrible per se, it looks really bad in some parts of the game. Multiple times I saw texture pop ins and small glitches. Come on guys, we live in a post- Battlefield 3 era and they are honestly trying to say that this is the best that they could do?! Even the most hardcore Call Of Duty fan cannot deny how goregous Battlefield 3 looks, but here when I look at MW3's graphics it makes me feel like I traveled back in time to the stone age of gaming. It also makes me feel like I'm playing an expansion pack for Modern Warfare 2 instead of a full fledged sequel. The multiplayer (Which is the reason a lot of people play these games) while definately a step up from the unbalanced MW2, still has a number of overpowered weapons and death streaks. Add that in with the number of camping spots and you are sure to have some fustrating matches. It was clear that when around 40 staff left Infinity Ward that Modern Warfare 3 was going to take a hit, and in some areas it does. While it is still worth full price, this entry WILL NOT win over anybody who hates this franchise with a passion. Here's hoping that Black Ops 2 will restore the franchise to it's former glory and change-up the familiar COD formula. Expand

THIS GAME IS NOT A MW2 MAP PACK. it has so much more. consider this : normal CoD map packs are $15. they come with 4 maps. PERIOD! if this were a map pack, it would be a $60 pack that comes with: 16 new maps, with access to CoD elite and a multitude of new dlc, many new weapons, 2 ENTIRELY NEW WAYS TO USE KILL STREAKS a whole new challenge list, 10 more prestige levels, a level cap raised to 80, prestige shop, all new spec ops mode, survival mode, 6 more hours of story for just in case your internet is down. not to mention there aren't any modders on mw3 yet, unlike any CoD before blops. If you've ever enjoyed playing a CoD, i would recommend picking it up. at first glance it is cut and paste of modern warfare 2, but i guarantee that if you sat down with it for 30 mins, you would realize that it's so much more, and be just as hooked on it as you have been for any other call of duty. Online, multiplayer, cooperative play has never interested me, and though the single-player campaign in MW3 is short, it is good - fast paced and fun. I mainly play war games as an "in-between". After playing longer, more involved games (i.e. RPGs) I enjoy playing a snack-sized game that doesn't require a whole lot of commitment or time. I actually like Black Ops better, but MW3 is still fun. I am 60% through the campaign and it is amazing so far. Multi-player is more balanced with the addition of support streaks. I am not crazy about the some of the maps because they are too messy, if that makes sense. Sometimes, there is just too many things in the air where it becomes hard to figure out if it is your ally or foe.I actually like Black Ops better, but MW3 is still fun. A 1 hit knife strike shouldn't kill a player while they are getting shot by a gun.

    All that being said, it is a fun and satisfying game. There are a lot of negative reviews on here, which is actually comical. Yes it uses the same engine as previous games, but they have added many new features and modes which make the game enjoyable.

Just for all those trolls, after this, I'll rate BF3 0 or 1 because I don't have the game. You should only rate this game if you have played some or most of the COD series. I noticed the lag is not as bad as it used to be so I think they are working on that issue. I think this game deserves more because the maps are just flat out fun. The weapons are so pretty and sound great! I give this game a 9 because it's too simular to MW2. Otherwise it would have got a 10. Expand

All in all, a game that could have been much better but is still worth playing in my opinion.

Honestly, I'm not sure what the majority of people expected this game to be. To me, CoD suddenly changing MWx would be like McDonalds suddenly topping a Big Mac with honey mustard. The MWx formula is working for Activision. People still wait at their local retailer until midnight to buy the latest release, and until people stop, they aren't going to change a thing. Expand

    Great game the online is one of the best of the COD series as there are limited spots for campers, i do feel they need a few more open maps where you can actually use the sniper effectively. The campaign is also good but a bit short. The survival mode is also a good new addition which is fun to play with mates.

    The new addition to the CoD franchise is worth a full 10. MW3, while having a low user score from Battlefield 3 lovers and people looking for something else. The all new game modes bring an exciting feel to the game, and the all new weapon system is to die for. The critic reviews are 100 percent accurate. This game is the best yet in the call of duty series.

Online is the same as always, long, fun and progressive, but it is sort of the same as MW2 online, (except for the maps). Survivor mode is the highlight of the game for me, what is more fun than mowing down hundreds of enemies. On a map like resistance its quite a calm level where you just have fun killing people, (until wave 26 when you get like 3 juggernauts, 2 helicopters a ton of attack dogs and suicide bombers as well as the normal guys who are heavily armoured anyway). but on a map like lock down, you need to be on your toes as the enemies get harder quicker. Survivor mode is great fun and every map is great.

    Special ops aren't as good as they were in MW2 but they are still good, i particularly like the stealth ones. but some missions are just a bit to hard and get annoying when you keep on dying, but still, the special are good.

    Survivor mode = 10/10
    Campaign = 9/10
    Online = 8/10
    Special ops = 9/10

A sequel is supposed to be little tweaks, new story, new maps / areas and maybe a new mode. All of the above series do that, yet CoD gets the crap. It is a completely baseless argument! So stop just giving 0's, 1's and 2's because you haven't played it and THINK it is a map pack because it is not. Beside at least it isn't trying to milk you with online passes. I am by no means a super CoD lover or a Battlefield hater, I respect both, I just think what is being done here is a horrible injustice

    Now down to the actual review. First off, the story. The story / campaign is actually the best so far, it doesn't try to make you a superhero who takes down an army, it is believable and challenging too, you are constantly feeling the pressure and unlike previous games the fighting style isn't stand in an area, kill, move on, stand in an area, kill, move on, it is fast moving, well paced and very fluid. It always elevates that WW3 feeling with a constant sense of dread and hopefulness, but at the same time it feels like you are running and keep on moving so that there is a chance to make it out of this war. The areas you go to in the game are all incredibly varied, so if it is 'just a map pack' then the campaign 'maps' are pretty damn good. The campaign took me 5h 54m on normal difficulty and it was the least convoluted, easy to follow and solid plot in the series so far. As far as the characters go, I am impressed. They are moving away from the silent type of character that is just a camera, hands and a gun that I hate. Yuri is a very interesting, specifically when you find out about his past towards the end of the game, character to play as and Soap and Price who you work with as Yuri are both very true to their characters in past iterations. The random soldiers that you play as in every game, are good in this one. They were the first ones I really actually cared about and liked playing as. Even if I did not like the specific soldier you play as who (***SEMI SPOILER does not get any real closure in the story SPOILER OVER***) but Sandman the leader is interesting and believable. You also play as a few characters for other levels which is decent as it puts you in an unexpected point of view sometimes. The series concludes very well and is the best campaign yet. 8.5/10 on the Campaign

    The multiplayer is yes, still aim down your sight and shoot, and run and knife and killstreak and grenade and flash bang. But this game has the most (and highest quality) maps in any CoD game so far, the killstreaks are no longer unbalanced like the chopper gunner and the hind or the nuke and the new system of them going under 3 categories (Assault, Support and Specialist) is very good and innovative, while you may not spend much time deciding between Assault and support, you will when choosing between those and specialist which allows you every 2 kills to get an additional perk which is certainly very handy. The guns are great, you always have at least 5 options, 8+ for some, in the different gun classes. They are all balanced and you will usually find one or two in each gun type that you want, and the weapon leveling system whereby you level it by using it rather then needing to complete annoying challenges or buy it like in MW2 or Black ops, is much better. The leveling system itself is the same as it has been, which is a leveling system, you get exp, your bar goes up, you level, but now they actually reward you for prestiging. Lag is nearly non-existent and you will never find a larger and more permanent player base then this, 9/10 for the multiplayer.

    I will quickly touch on the spec ops, it is (for the missions) the same as MW2, a bit more creative though. The survival mode was something I didn't want, I would rather nazi zombies, but it is actually very, very good. There is also matchmaking for both survival and the missions and split screen support which I LOVE. The missions do feel a bit meh sometimes though, 7.5 / 10 for spec ops.

    Overall this game is great. If you want to wait for a price drop, then do, but it is worth giving a chance!

    Score = 8.5+0.5 for split screen support (allows online play with a guest using split screen), great maps and great balancing as well as general easy to play, arcade style gameplay.

    OVERALL = 9/10

    There's a tangible insistence from gamers that this series needs to evolve, but it seems unwarranted when it still leads the FPS class. The engine's definitely in need of an overhaul, but when it comes to thumping set-pieces and addictive multiplayer design, Modern Warfare 3 is still in a league of its own.
