This is more Call of Duty. It's fun to play, is highly polished, and has a ton to chew on. But really it's highly derivative. You should know what to expect at this point.

The campaign is by far one of my favorites from the entire Call Of Duty collection and once again provides non-stop action with return of characters you know and care about. The graphics engine is becoming dated, although it has had some small tweaks, they are hardly worth noting. However, on the topic of multiplayer, the game holds holds true to its infamous formula, but as i'm sure everyone has heard or seen for themselves, changes little. A few new kill-streaks and the addition of the very unnecessary COD Elite service is definitely not worth the bragging rights. If your looking to charge gun-first into matchmaking, expect MW2 with new maps....... In comparison, Battlefield 3 has a far superior multiplayer experience, but if you want another blockbuster campaign fighting along side Captain Price, MW3 gets the job done. Expand

In short. It doesn't measure up to IW MW2. But it's slightly better than Black Ops and WOW. I've always preferred Infinity Wards' 'Feel' of the gunplay more. I also enjoy the twist on TDM with the Dog Tags. I would actually score it a point lower than BF3 just because in the couple of hours I've been online and the modes immediately available to me I've only experienced fast & furious gun & run play. I haven't opened a mode or map that would encourage sniper/overwatch classes or stealth having much emphasis. The Elite system is well set up, but currently overwhelmed by demand and rather unresponsive server replies. Expand

Im giving this a 7. The single campaign is fun and exciting but the multiplayer feels like a dlc of mw2. Elite feels like a scam.
Havent played more spec ops but its fun as always.

For Infinity Ward, this is the laziest game they made. For Sledgehammer is not a great introduction to the game industry but at least it's a nice move , still not the best. The graphics looked fine enough with a little detail but is the same good thing we've have seen since Mw2. Some new cool modes are acceptable like the innovative Kill Confirm that consist on taking the dog tags etc but i don't feel compelled enough to play this modes because they feel worthless I never felt any motivation to play other modes but only Team Deathmatch .MW3 didn't felt like that juggernaut game that if it was announced caused me nostalgia , other than that those little problems, or boring things dragged a game that was a triple A franchise. I hope that the next one recovers from this hard wound . Still for those that liked the fast paced formula they won't be dissapointed . Expand

The game is yet again a walk through huge setpieces that, unfortunately, have already been done before. The scenario harks back to Crysis 2 or Resistance 3 minus the aliens and chimeras. I don't believe it does anything NEW with single-player besides the continuation of a story.

The multiplayer, however, is largely the motivation alot of people, including myself have and will have for buying this game. Comparing it to modern warfare 1 and 2, it is much the same; however, if you've been playing Black Ops for the past year and want a fresh start, this is it. Multiplayer is based much less upon 'who can run around knifing the fastest' and more upon 'how can you best kill the other team?' It's much more fast-paced that MW2 from what I have seen, but is a whole different ballpark to Black Ops; an experience that won't let you run-and-gun and kill everybody just because you have the fastest reflexes.

How do you judge a game? On graphics? The textures, colours, overall feel of the game is much better than, say, blackOps, but I don't think it's anything to be amazed about- at the very least, it does a bit better with framerate. Audio- I'm not sure if this is because of me being a former blackops regular, but the gun sounds seem a bit more... I don't know, iffy? More 'pewpew' than 'BLAMMM'..... I'm not sure how to fully express that.

Single-player- a must ONLY if you really really care about the endings to a mediocre storyline

Multiplayer- only if you care about chasing the majority of the multiplayer community who, whether they reviewed this game well or not, will be playing online and constantly saying 'THIS GAME SUXXX!'. Yes, the 12-year-old prepubescent idiots are there still, as are the cashed-up-bogans.

Overall; Okay, the review is my own opinion of this game. I'm not going to say it's shattt because, like I said, I actually quite like to play. But I can also see how this game has shortcomings of its own. Between this and BF3, I'd play BF3 for the grand experience of a warzone; I'd play Call of Duty to be a one-man-army. Neither game is monumental, and neither should be GOTY. I give this game a 7/10 because, it's not the worst game in the world, it's not the most amazing game in the world, and yeah, I actually DO play this game.

I'm seeing extremism here. The game isn't bad, so stop giving it bad scores. Yet, this is almost the same game from 2009 (MW2), so it's definitely not a game to be awarded Game of the Year or something.

WWIII has broken out, and it's up to you to find the man responsible for it, Makarov. Soap and Captain Price returns, and since is the final chapter in the MW series, you'll see how it all concludes. Honestly, only those who played the previous games will enjoy it. Everyone else will have no idea what's going on.

Multiplayer is the same thing from previous games. You have now "Support" streaks, where if you die, you don't lose your streak; it carries over between deaths. The problem is that it's said to help your team, but one "Support" streak is a Stealth bomber, which hurts the other team. That's supposed to be in the "Assault" streaks, which is the traditional killstreak structure. Nothing else much here.

What I did like though is "Survival" mode, where you must fend off waves of enemies on various maps. I spent most of my time, here. But this wasn't enough to justify the $60 price tag when it came out.

Call of Duty does the same thing year after year; it's not worth paying $60, but now it's cheap; a new one is now like $20. I think that a perfect price for this game, so go get it.

Graphics engine still looks good (and still better than many other games), but shows its age as well. Especially in comparison to Battlefield 3 (PC) - which had about the same quality overall, but deserves a little higher score just because of its visual quality.

Based on playing spec ops and survival modes co-operatively in split-screen, I can say that Modern Warfare 3 does not fail in this department. Of course, the lack of staffing and time to produce this game has meant that, as with the multiplayer, a lot has been copied over from both CoD4 and MW2. However, the survival mode is something new- kind of a cross between spec ops and zombies. It's very simple but still fun to play, but is not as gripping or addictive as zombies in World at War, for instance. You face attack helicopters, riot shield juggernauts, juggernauts, attack dogs and ordinary soliders. Unlike zombies though, the number of enemies per round does not increase; rather their difficulty and the types of enemies does instead. You can purchase upgrades such as weapons, attachments, perks, killstreaks and even a squad to help you by earning money, and XP ranks you up so you can buy better stuff once you hit the top level 50. You rank up in both spec ops and survival, and as with MW2's split-screen multiplayer, your progression and unlocks are saved in survival/spec ops. The good thing about survival is how you can play them on all multiplayer maps, so it's not like zombies where you have only a few to choose from. Whilst survival makes a genuinely decent addition to co-op, spec ops only manages to copy over missions from the campaign and ideas from both CoD4 and MW2. If you've played them two games, you won't be surprised by anything here. Some missions they've made the copy and paste VERY obvious (like Mile Highjack being a direct copy of Mile High Club). In terms of variety, there is a fair amount. There are a good mix of missions here, not all completely different from each other but an entertaining mix nontheless, with quality being the same as Modern Warfare 2's spec ops missions. The difference is that in MW3 each mission has criteria for high score, which may range from explosion kills, sniper kills, headshots, accuracy time, difficulty etc. What's more, each mission has leaderboards for both co-op and solo, which is nice because it gives them replay value which MW2 lacked. The missions themselves are your usual mix of firing range time trials, bomb defusals, objective collection/extraction, hostage rescue, providing cover for teammate in AC130 or sniping, stealth and just run and gun action. The missions themselves are actually pretty fun in co-op and the variety means that if you're bored of one playstyle you can easily try another mission or have a crack at getting a higher round on survival. Make no mistake, Modern Warfare 3 is by far the best Call of Duty game yet for co-operative gameplay, but I somehow feel that it's below Call of Duty standards. Don't get me wrong, it's just as good as MW2's co-op, but while Modern Warfare 2 pushed and raised the boundaries, Modern Warfare 3 hasn't really done anything new. There's nothing you'll be amazed by at all, and you will frankly laugh at some of their attempts when they blatantly copied and pasted some stuff over such as a building in the CoD4 Pipeline map in one of the spec ops levels. Once you've played the missions a few times though, you will get bored of them easily. However, due to the great variety you may find a few you like, so you could spend hours trying to improve your leaderboard ranking. Personally if it was me, I would much rather spend that time improving high scores in CoD4's arcade mode, as the levels were miles superior to any spec ops mission in MW3. Overall, it's a credible component of Modern Warfare 3 and if you purchased the game for a reasonable price you will not be disappointed. It's a solid co-op, but nothing new or mind-blowing. It's a safe bet for a co-op, but nothing special. Expand

Now that the "comparison" of BF3 to MW3 is out of the way let me get on with my review of MW3. Having played the COD series from the very beginning and feeling the game come into maturity as both IW and 3Arc passed the torch back and forth each year, I have to say that COD4 really set the stage for the modern 1st person shooter and like any great movie the sequels are hard pressed to hold their own against the original. MW3 borrows probably 90% of the textures, sounds, and map objects from the last 2 games. The cliche if it isnt broke dont fix it comes to mind. The multiplayer is where the game still remains at its best - (once you look past how similar to MW2 it really is), You will bgin to notice that the small tweaks that so many wanted from MW2 have been implemented in MW3 - it no longer takes an entire magazine to take down an enemy player on core mode, gun balance has come into line, perks have been adjusted to be less of a hassle so that true player vs player is the focus and finally the maps and layout of each seems to make for a better flow of battling and prevents slow gameplay. The only real problem with this game is that most players are Veterans of the series and were expecting a "NEW" game but were given MW 2.5. The game is still fun and enjoyable and with the added Spec Ops ( modern day live zombies ) and the stackable kill streaks, you wont regret purchasing it as long as you didnt buy the $99 version. For the new players that this is their 1st time playing the Modern Warfare series will find this one of the best games they have ever played and it will be well worth it. The biggest issue this game has to overcome is the purchase prices of $59 when it should be closer to $39 as an upgrade to MW2 Expand

Maps overall maybe a little bigger for some of them (some of them are actually pretty good) .. I traded in my worthless Black Ops, so I only paid about $45 for the game. So not out that much overall. Are there things I would like to see in the game? Sure. Part of the issue was obviously Sledgehammer not being used to the IW Engine 4.0 enough to upgrade it to a true 5.0 iteration. So it's basically IW 4.4 Engine (some of the stuff from MW2 is actually directly copied over in the multiplayer campaign which WAS somewhat lazy on their part)

If you like campaigns, it's not bad. Short, but almost all of the shooters are. It felt somewhat less "roller coaster" over Black Ops, but it is still a linear story (obviously)

There are many things I haven't even really used yet, like changing up killstreaks. There are some different ones.

The game is worth playing, but I wouldn't suggest getting CoD Elite, and if you can find it used (which I'm sure after all of the raging there will be used copies popping up) I would go for it. It's definitely not as bad as Black Ops, but it's not as revolutionary as it could be either.

Average, that's all, this game is the definition of average. The graphics aren't improved at all from MW2 and Black Ops. The story is quite good if you like a rollercoaster, co-op is awesome with friends but MP is horribly unbalanced with no proper developer support.

However, it's not MEANT to. While that sounds lazy on paper, and may cause some "I feel like I've done this before" moments as already stated by others, let's all be mature adults and give the game a realistic score not based entirely out of being butthurt because you were silly and expected this to be a completely different game. MW3 is not a 0, or a 1, or anything on the lower end. Infinity Ward put time into this game, and while they may not have reinvented the wheel, they tweaked the things that worked for the first two games to make them BETTER. And I, for one, am completely okay with that.

Bottom line: If you want innovation, look elsewhere. If you're like me and just want more of what you grew to love in MW2 with fresh maps and a more balanced multiplayer experience, don't pass this one up.

"If it ain't broke, don't fix it." This has been the general approach regarding development of the Call of Duty series for the past few years, and it still remains true for Modern Warfare 3. This has been the general approach regarding development of the Call of Duty series for the past few years, and it still remains true for Modern Warfare 3. The campaign is as you would expect from the Call of Duty series; a short, action packed, enjoyable but rather forgettable experience. The overall spectacle flare from Modern Warfare 2 returns and the story is slightly easier to follow, but just as forgettable over all. Spec Ops Mode also makes a return, with short missions that can be completed with a friend or on your own, with a few exceptions. These missions take some of the more memorable moments of the campaign and tweaks them up to make them even more intense. This time a new mode titled Spec Ops Survival has been added. This mode is similar to the horde mode of other game you may have played such as Halo and Gears of War. Surviving wave after wave of varying enemy types with a large variety of weapons and air support options across all the multiplayer maps, whether alone or with a friend it is always intense and insanely fun. Now, onto the main reason why this game exists, competitive online multiplayer. This remains largely the same as it was in Modern Warfare 2, but with a few new tweaks to the formula. There is less of a focus on killstreak rewards with the implementation of different types of strike packages. Assault contains the usual kill steaks that have been included in previous COD games. Support contains mostly non-lethal rewards that benefit the team overall, these rewards do require kills in order to earn them, but the count does not restart every time you die. Finally, there is the specialisation package that acts the same way as the Assault killstreak, but grants a new perk to your class instead of giving a new killstreak reward. The maps themselves aren't the strongest they've been in the series, but most of them have a nice flow during objective based game modes and none of them are god-awful. Overall, Modern Warfare 3 recycles a lot of old material from it's predecessor, but overall it is a strong package, and with the amount of multiplayer game modes and the almost infinite replay of Spec Ops Survival, you do get your money's worth from it. TL/DR: A refined version of the COD formula, don't expect to see any true innovation. Overall, a solid package. Expand

    3. If you ignore all the racists and 13 yo on multiplayer it is just as fun as it has always been. The features and options are still top notch, and it is infinitely better than black ops multiplayer. I've heard complaints about map design, but once you get adjusted to the new layouts they are pretty good. So bottom-line buy the game if you like the other 2 modern warfare games, and if you didn't like them don't buy it. It is a fun multiplayer game with a bad campaign mode (7.5/10)

The gun selection is the same. A gun added here and there but nothing major like a complete weapon overhaul. I must say I like the new option you have online as far as the way you customize classes. I must say my review is geared my toward users looking to play online as I do not play this game in campain mode so my review is 85% online play. There are a few new death streaks which are pretty neat, and also killstreak rewards. Prestige is now level 80 so that's the highest yet of a COD game so far I believe. Modern Warfare was 55 I believe. All controls are the same, and gameplay is the same (speed, graphics, sound, etc.) Overall I give it a 7.0 because 1. there is always room for improvement. 2. a point deducted for lack of map variation and graphic enhancements and 3. not much better than MW2 and dissapointing, I was expecting more. The singleplayer continues the story of Russia and America fighting a war just because one man tricked the world. You play as a lot of characters, and the story is intense. Characters from Call of Duty 4 and Modern Warfare 2 return which will make you smile since they survived. The singleplayer has an incredibly good story and you'll be all over the world fighting the bad guys and the ending will please all fans. The gameplay is also intense and as always, a certain scene has been added which can be viewed as "shocking". It's not as shocking as the nuke in Call of Duty 4, but your jaw will drop. The shooting is great and you won't be bored if you play at the right difficulty.

    Multiplayer
The multiplayer is like Call of Duty 4 but with a few new features added. At first it can be really hard since it doesn't play like Modern Warfare 2. Getting kills is harder and don't expect to get a 20 kill streak as easy as in Modern Warfare 2. It feels like Infinity Ward finally listened to the community and made the game harder. Camping will get you killed and rushing aswell, so you'll have to move and work with your teammates to survive. They also added a new gamemode (kill confirmed) which will keep you bussy. The leveling system is better then ever.

The only thing that really bothered me is the fact that they used gunsounds from Call of Duty 4 and Modern Warfare 2. It feels really cheap but it won't bother you for too long. Buy this game if you enjoyed Modern Warfare 2 and Call of Duty 4.

I like to play other games not just cod, like most people i have competed with online seem to. I am crushed as to what this game turned out out to be like, and it looked so promising. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 isnt a map pack described in the reviews of the haters but isn't a totally new experience either. The engaging formula of CoD its now back and pulished with the fast online matches, the awesome Killstreaks and Perks. But where is the real Weakness in MW3? Its in the Single Player Campaign and its Graphics (That aren't bad, just ... old?). Let me explain the problem with the single player campaign: In the trailers we saw awesome Gun Fights in the Modern World War III and it looked just epic but the problem was that Activision made the customers to expect a Lot from the Campaign but the scenes played on the Trailers, were the best action scenes we saw in the whole Game so, it was a little bit dissapointing. I have to admit that I get a little bit emotional with the death of Soap Mactavish but just that ... Modern Warfare 2 had a better story than its sequel, when we saw Ghost Death we all fell anger and we just wanted to kill Shepherd and in the end of the Washington Level we were anxious to atack Russia ... You understand no? That was a shooter with a Great Plot! The gameplay its ... its more of the same but isn't bad, practically you just Shoot, Run, Cover, Follow, plant C4 and kill some Russian Bad guys but it works its simple and addicting ! What can I say? I really love CoD and my favorite was MW2 followed by Black Ops but after playing this game that wasn't bad but it was dissapointing in a new level of dissapointingness (I was expecting a better final to the story of Soap and Captain Price) but ... meh, the multiplayer its more of the same with different scenarios with 3 or 4 extra perks and Killstreaks OH! and there isn't a lot of hideouts for Campers (AWWW YEAH!). This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. COD 4 MW and MW2 were legendary, it made the series what it is today. I was looking forward to it, it was one of my highest anticipated games since GTA 4 back in 2008. Infinity Ward really took a hit when 40+ people left, MW3 is the result of it. While I'm not saying it was bad, I would prefer the last 2 modern warfares over this.

The story was pretty good, the new guy Yuri is like Soap was back in COD4. It was also pretty touching the way the events leading up to Soap's death transpired, but the ending was the sweet revenge we all were waiting for.

Overall, great game, good graphics and other stuff. It's just too repetitive, Thats all.

The addition of the strike packages add a new twist, but realistically, along with the kill streaks, they are the same as MW2. One thing i really did like about the multiplayer is being able to carry streaks across deaths, being as how for me its kill, death, kill, death, and so on, and so on. (Also, drop zone is the one thing that kept me playing the game. On to campaign, overall it was an alright campaign, for the fact that it was fresh, and a little interesting, but always being on the brink of death isn't fun in any of the Call of Duty games. In spec ops, the addition of survival is pretty fun, but it is a poor attempt at combating Treyarch's/ Activision's zombies. The missions are a nice challenge. Expand

And yes, Battlefield 3 is a great game, this game is also quite good and has its own ups and downs, it certainly isn't the best game I've played and the formula is starting to feel dated. But it's still the same Call of Duty formula, and it's just a well made, good game. The singleplayer is rubbish, so I won't cover that in this review, I'll just cover the multiplayer. The multiplayer is fun. And is a lot better than the absolutely atrocious game that Call of Duty: Black Ops was. Infinity Ward knows their stuff. This game is quite different in terms of classes and the way you level up now. Now not only do you level up, but so do your weapons. And you unlock different weapon upgrades as you gain weapon levels. I think it's a smart system, and a lot better than the terrible COD points system in Black Ops. Also new is the gun proficiencies. No there is no Warlord perk or some other perks that I forgot about, now they are proficiencies. Instead of warlord you have the attachments proficiency which let's you have two attachments on your weapon. And now there is no equipment section. Not claymores and other detection triggered explosives are under lethal equipment(the same category as frag grenades) and tactical insertion and other things are under tactical equipment. The few improvements that Infinity Ward made are really good, and make the multiplayer a lot of fun. Spec ops has a new mode called survival. But to be honest it's not that great. You can only have two players in it and you can call in a squad of bots which aren't that great. The survival could've been a lot better, but it's a lot more addictive than zombies, because the levelling up adds a new reason to play. You still buy weapons, but you have to be at a certain level to actually be able to buy them. I think it's a great system on an only ok survival mode. The bottom line is that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 is no revolution, and it certainly isn't an incredible game. What it is is a fun, polished and well made shooter that will keep your attention for a while. The private matches work fantastically and it's a breeze to invite your friends to one. I don't LOVE MW3, but I certainly do like it. It's not my favourite game, but it's a game that I'll occasionally get out to play. Expand

(Hint: think about sailing on the river of a major city, with lots of activity and effects around you it looks grand!). I think the story is more sober. It continues on MW2, but the motivations are more exposed to the player. For example, there are high-importance hostages involved and the player is closer to the centre of the story. The multiplayer has at least one new game mode that makes it more interesting than MW2. 'Kill Confirmed' is a team deathmatch where kills only count if someone gets to the killed enemy and collects a 'proof' that the kill happened. This introduces an element of strategy and intelligence, because the bodies could be protected by enemies, and there's a payoff if you get hit right after you collected a proof or maybe two. You can also cancel enemy kills by reaching team member bodies. I thought this game was a cool improvement on MW2, but only as long as you're looking for more of the same, and EXACTLY that. Expand

first the single player experience, taking place in Africa Europe and the US the game really takes you for a ride as you play the american delta force and the rogue British task force from the previous game, as far as characters go they are all pretty shallow and except the few one liners and "chargetake cover" shouts your interaction with them is kept to a minimum until the end of the game, the only note worthy character is captain price but after developing him for 4 games its not really a surprise.

the very loose story is basically an excuse to take you through some really amazing set pieces, you will have the standard call of duty mash up of airstrikes and rail shooters like the last games which can be good at times but they feel redundant most of the time and even feel like they are slowing the pace of the game, for example you have a level in paris where you take control of a AC-130 and the control will rotate between your character plane taking you out of the action seeing how using the AC-130 isn't challenging like the fight that takes place on the ground at the same time.
if you played the last 2 games a closure is nice but if you are looking for a deep story shooter you better wait for something else.

Of course the focus of the game is the multiplayer, it didn't change much from what iv'e see they added a new game mode or 2 but nothing groundbreaking again the multiplayer is solid, it was good in the previous games and it retains the same standards here, the multiplayer is very fast paced and "arcady" like iv'e come to expect from COD.

like i said it a solid game if you like the previous games this is pretty much more of the same for better or worst.

First the multiplayer. My #1 issue is that it's really sensitive to lag. Now, you're probably thinking, "Oh he must have a really bad connection." That's actually true. I live in a university dorm. The internet connection couldn't be more temperamental. But BF3's multiplayer runs mostly lag-free, and when it does lag it cleans up pretty nicely. Not even MW2 or MW lags as bad as MW3. Otherwise, it's pretty good.
Second, the campaign. It's too short (unsurprisingly). While it is action packed and surprisingly fun, it took me less than 5 hours to beat it. Not good. What's more, it can be frustrating sometimes. I'm not going to give away anything, but one level where you have to control an assault drone comes to mind. It can't take much damage or else you're dead. It can get EXTREMELY frustrating because it's all too likely drive right past an enemy without realizing out. Then they take you out from behind and you're left there, scratching your head wondering what happened. Don't even get me started with the helicopter part of it.
Overall, it's a great game. Go ahead and get it. You won't regret it too much.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Modern Warfare 3 is the new installment of the call of duty series, it has its positive and negatives like most games. First for the ups, they again have a very nice story in the campaign aspect and the spec ops comes back, which in my opinion is fun and perfect for playing with a friend. Also a new game mode is introduced in the spec ops aspect: the survival mode which is really not that bad, and kind of fun but gets boring after a while. In my opinion i think that activision didn't let the survival mode reach its full potential by only allowing 2 people to play since these things are best when played with friends. Now for the core of call of duty: the multiplayer, this also has its ups and downs. The weapons are more or less like always with the exception of the machine pistols, when paired with akimbo these pistols are overpowered even after they were patched to make them less powerful. There are also some other weapons that are overpowered like the chinese weapon, the Type 95. Something new that has been implemented is the proficiency system and the levels for the weapons. This is something i actually quite enjoyed since it lets you customize your gun further. The new Kill Streak system actually also pleased me a lot in that there is different kill streaks for different types of players, for the more aggressive and for the ones that like to be more tactic and defend the objectives. The MOAB i think was a nice addition to the series since you don't need to equip it, its there if you get it. Also its nice that it doesn't finish the game and instead gives double XP to the people in that game. The prestige tokens was a nice addition but its nothing major, except maybe for the fact that you can unlock things so that you don't have to wait to level up to have them. Now for the downsides: The spawn systems are just horrible, the other day i was playing headquarters and i just spawned in front of an enemy player at the beginning of the game!. Also the overpowered weapons which i mentioned before. The knifing system is pretty horrible since some times when you knife someone the knife seems like it rebounds from the player. I have mixed feelings about elite since it is something else that activision is doing to get more money from us but at the same time you get the map packs before the people in your console and also with a small discount and some additional services. Overall it is basically just another call of duty with some improvements in the multiplayer and different maps. Expand

What seems to be a massive add on despite having a great story which you see a many memorable scenes from killing. cough..... and yea. the game was only purchased because i needed more guns and maps but ended up using this mainly to play infected and spec ops with my family and friends. seems to me a bit over priced to pay a game they didn't even refine

Modern Warfare 3 ended in a most satisfying, and comforting way. After seeing the death of some of my favorite characters, I am very glad to see the ending work out the way it did. The campaign of this game did not add as much as Modern Warfare 2 had in it, but it was a most satisfying way to end the trilogy. It went beyond my expectations, but not nearly as close as any other Call of Duty game did. The multiplayer of the game is a different story. I generally hated the multiplayer which is why I did not get far in the online ranks of the game. This here was the turning point to my thoughts about Modern Warfare 3. To me, there were simply too many people that took the game more serious than it needed to be, especially for a war game. If they were playing Battlefield 3, I could see why they would be taking it seriously, it has much more fast paced action to it, a breath taking view of modern and urban war, and the detail to the game is tremendous. Especially the jets they put in it, but I am not here to review Battlefield 3, and this is not a comparison and contrast essay. I am here to review a game that did not amuse me in the multiplayer field as much as any other Call of Duty game did. I don't recommend the game that much to people who can't stand others who whine entirely like the game is real, and start using foul language, especially kids that should not be cussing at their age. - Collin

While some say its the same game as the last one, its decently enjoyable. The special ops survival and missions were nice. Probably the only thing I enjoyed. The campaign mode brings back respawning enemies and gives you an entire army in each room to kill. You have regenerating health, and a realistic amount of enemies to shoot would be too easy. As in any FPS game these days, you have a bunch of invincible teammates that do absolutely nothing unless in scripted events, and only die when the plot tells them to. Getting shot in the head during a cutscene kills them, but not two rockets to the face, a grenade, 78 knife slashes, and 17 bullets from a sniper rifle to the face(That is, if the game wouldn't give you a friendly fire warning. This statement about the cutscene applies to most FPS games these days.) Somehow, Only one Delta operator is capable of killing all the enemies. The rest just stand there shooting, getting stunned from the bullets, and shouting at you to get on the machinegun, do this, do that, do everything. Enemies seem to gang up on the player first, because if the player dies, game over. The player is the only mortal in a squad of immortals. And multiplayer? I found it boring. Expand

I don't get the hate of the series. It is what all video games are supposed to be, it is fun. When people say that this game is the same as MW2, I get that point, but that doesn't mean to have attitude like a preschooler. I like this game, but that doesn't mean I get bashed on like I did 9/11.

This game was good, but the campaign was not that fun for me, whereas the Call of Duty: Black Ops campaign i enjoyed quite a bit more. But the multiplayer was the good part of the game.

La campaña es muy corta teniendo en cuenta lo que sus predecesores nos habían demostrado, sin embargo esta muy buena, no me disgusta. En cuanto al online, para mi salud ni lo he tocado.

It feels like with Modern Warfare 3, hype was the ultimate enemy. And it unfortunately won, but only by a hair.

What a disappointment after MW2 and BO. I played this game later even though there is no hype for me, disappointment hit me hard. I can't imagine how bad for players in 2011.

Coming from Modern Warfare 2 in 2009, i bought this game on release in 2011 which high expectations to finish the epic campaign and play online again. What i got was something less, but still good.

The story of Modern Warfare 2 ends with Soap killing General Shephard, but getting mortally wounded in the process. Modern Warfare 3 opens with you playing as Yuri, the most contrived protagonist i've played in many games, protecting Price and Soap somewhere from Makarov's goons. The way this mission is written feels incredibly ridiculous, but is just a prelude of what is still to come.

The campaign doubles down on over the top set pieces, visiting exotic locations and introducing last minute conveniences to the story. Seriously, why didn't they hire the writer of Modern Warfare 2? It seems as if the writer of this story took all the pieces from the first two games, jammed them in and decided to make them all meaningless in the large picture. World War 3 is a nonsensical joke, as Russia decides to invade Europe... because the president was kidnapped by terrorist? Chemical attacks against large cities, killing thousands of innocents?? That doesn't make any sense!

You also play as a Delta Team with characters that have no distinct personality other than: 'Russia is bad, America is good.' Their deaths felt pointless, and i was rather laughing as the game tried to make this scene epic. Nice try, but you failed.

To summarize the story: I was disappointed by the weak, predictable ending, last minute characters and overblown scenes. I would give the campaign a 6/10, it's average.

However, Modern Warfare 3 shines brighter in its multiplayer and survival mode! Multiplayer is a step up from Modern Warfare 2, offering a more balanced PvP mode with fun weapons (trying out different weapons doesn't feel like a punishment) and a weapon leveling system. Community modes like Infected and Drop Zone were my favorite, offering a competitive mode without kill streaks and fun objectives.

The survival mode Is my cup of tea, testing me harshly to find the best tactics to survive as long as possible while scoring points and playing with friends. Although i had to play the most of it with random people, i had a lot of fun with this mode. Beware of the epic juggernauts!

Even though the campaign was a let down for me, i did end up enjoying the multiplayer and survival mode a lot. All together, i consider MW3 a good game, worthy of a 7/10.

The campaign was incredible fun, nice level design (the only bad level was the one where the chase of the subway was). Lot of guns, nice characters. But lot of details i´ve hated.

So first of all... why Nikolai´s comrades in arms having Czech surnames instead of Russian ? Then why millitia in Africa has same weapons as a proffesional Russian army in New York ? They could definitely give them instead of modern versions of AKs the old rusted AKs and SMGs with wooden grips and etc. like the rusted 50.cal on pickup car.

Then, in MW2 i´ve complained about dog move animations.... now, millitia has for some reason Hyennas.. WHY? Why would someone take hyenna instead of dog for combat ?
In Paris there is Russian T72 tank with graphic model from MW1...
And Prague doesnt even close looks like Prague in real...
+ some nice easter eggs like TIME magazine where you can see Most Wanted Price and Soap on front page of magazine.

Well, in the end i cant go higher than 7/10.

It is a more raw game than other games in this series. In fact, there is no change between MW: 2. Even the story is made by collecting the stories of other games in this series. But I don't think it's disgraceful. It is a little exaggeration.

    Note: F for Soap ...

There's a tangible insistence from gamers that this series needs to evolve, but it seems unwarranted when it still leads the FPS class. The engine's definitely in need of an overhaul, but when it comes to thumping set-pieces and addictive multiplayer design, Modern Warfare 3 is still in a league of its own.

By sticking to the series' strengths, Modern Warfare 3 delivers some of the best competitive, cooperate, and single-player shooting in the business.
