Call of Duty Advance Warfare is a fun game but with a few issues on the Play Station 3. The multiplayer is the games strongest part with all new style of play with the EXO suit where you can fly around the map and dodge gunfire, the EXO can also a perk slot where you can have heal you, make you move faster or have a shield equipped. The only bad thing about multiplayer and I'm being very strict about this but the visuals on the menu is terrible.

Then there's the games third function EXO Survival which I don't really like that much because it just feels like a knockoff of MW3 Survival mode and the only originality is you have the EXO suit.

So besides the games few issues and the EXO Survival, the game is a must buy for long time COD fans and new COD fans.

Of course you did because at that age it was the pinnacle of human achievement. It's also the sole purpose of AW. There are so many things that are wrong with this game it's hard to know exactly where to start.

So let's start with the load screen. Now because the developers think that all we want to do is play dress up with our dollies rather than shoot the **** out of random strangers, the game is overburdened with character loadouts, clothing and accoutrements that the system simply cannot cope with the simple process of loading up your avatar in what would reasonably be considered an acceptable time.

And that then leads to the next problem - the graphics. Quite simply COD has not looked this bad since MW2 which at least has the excuse of being an old (comparatively ancient) game. There is not texture or depth, the maps quite frankly all look the same, and above all it's just dull.

    dull, dull, dull.

And then there's the gameplay. Remember how on every other COD game you knew that there were certain maps for snipers, some for campers, some for those of us that like to run around like idiots? Well welcome to AW where every map has been designed for one simple purpose... spinning around and jumping up and down - because apparently we're all six years old.

It's impossible to have any kind of strategy or tactic because of the exo suits. Instead everyone is just running around like headless chickens.

Did I mention the snipers? There the ******* that are bouncing around the map in their exosuits quickscoping everyone else before bouncing back off again, maybe with some spinning involved. I'm not sure. I've always hated quickscopers and the lowest levels of hell are reserved for these "people" so why, oh why, did Activision sanction another COD that panders to them?

Because quickscoping noobs have an average mental age of six and this is Activision's target demographic, that's why.

Oh and the story mode? Completed in 4 hours and I'm not even sure I was completely awake for most of that time either. Dull, predictable, thoroughly unchallenging and quite obvious that Kevin Spacey was there just for some beer money.

Back to the load screen for a moment and specifically the font used. I last saw it on an Amiga 500 back in the early 90's... just awful.

Having navigated the load screen you're probably wanting to have a match, right? Well tough. For some reason the quickest I have ever got in to a match is fifteen seconds after it started and the slowest? Over a minute. And don't think it's my internet - that clocks in at a healthy 75 Mpbs.

Naturally that then leads me on to lags, glitches and exploits. There are at least two maps where you can hide in the scenery so yay - those maps are unplayable. The game regularly stutters and the reason I am here right now is because the game has just crashed my system.

I almost forgot - because of the whole jumpy round rubbish - frags and semtex are absolutely useless.

Annoyingly I'm not even doing that badly on AW and I've really tried to like it since the abomination that was Ghosts but I can't. Sorry but I've tried to like this mongrel of a game but the only decent thing you can do with it is take it out back and shoot it, it's time that COD was put out of its misery.

I've had every iteration of COD since MW2. I was top 500 in BLOPS2 and top 3000 in MW3. Despite the rant I am no COD hater but I've paid £45 for a game and all I got was a turd.

    It's just not good enough.

This game was pretty much trash. I played it for the first weekend and and decided to go back to Payday 2. this what an unfortunate waste of potential. One thing that most people can agree on that being able to constantly double jump ruins the game. Nobody wants to have to constantly watch out for rooftop flyers. if i hadn't bought the season pass i would have taken this heap of crap back.

EMBARRASSING killstreaks! no specialist (which sucks). no Kem or nuke (makes multiplayer pointless as there is no challenge). Easy fixes to the game which nobody makes... quit adding stupid map features like in ghosts and quit making so many unnecessary game modes. COD4 is the best cos its SIMPLE... dont make it complicated and add loads of silly features just to sell. Yes the game looks cool and awesome but doesnt deliver like any other COD. If you add features add something good like League play on BO2, amazing feature and loved every bit of it, ghosts ruined it and AW **** it up.
Campaign is just like every other cod, decent.
AW has very little to offer besides multiplayer and campaign mode. ghosts had extinction. BO had zombies and MW had those missions, AW has nothing comparable.
And no matter what you'll always get campers so scrap those "no campers comments"

A terrible port (or at least it seems like it). Sad, because it is probably worthwhile for the next gen consoles or PC. My main problems had to do with online multiplayer: create-a-class screen is broken and loading anything in general is glitchy and takes a long time. Also, the guns sound and feel like airsoft.

Call of Duty is showing its age, and the attempt to bring new life to it with the main gambit of this game, the "Exo Suit", has failed. The added dimension of verticality doesn't bring anything new to the formula, perhaps mainly for the bland map design that doesn't take advantage of it.

The strong point of this game is, surprisingly, the campaign. If you're used to the formula, you won't find anything groundbreaking, but it's still a lot of fun to play. Believe the hype with Kevin Spacey. He was good. Too bad the plot is so predictable, as his character had so much potential. Another very fun -yet already tired- play mode, is the horde co-op survival. Between the campaign and this mode, you'll have good value for your money.

Where this game fails spectacularly is in its raison d'etre, the online multiplayer. Every problem in Call of Duty before, seems to be enhanced in this game. The **** of players spawning all over the place reduce tactics to shoot first and have a better Internet connection. The maps do nothing but aid this mess, and winning doesn't matter as much as having a good K/D. The killstreaks are no longer fun. The lack of dedicated servers give an unfair advantage to the people with best connection. Skill in this game means nothing. Multiplayer is an unplayable mess.

Clearly, Call of Duty is on its last gasps, and unfortunately, the new additions to this game have failed to pump a fresh approach into it.

Better than CoD: Ghosts, but that's not hard. Good campaign, but terrible netcode for multiplayer. Lots of lag and delay, even on the menus.
Dips in graphical quality in the multiplayer menus and just waiting for weapon images to load is infuriating.

Exo suits are really good fun though, and add a much needed injection of adrenaline in to the gameplay in general.

CoD AW is not your typical Call of Duty, in my opinion it is more along the lines of Halo. While the game offers a variety of new directions for the franchise, overall execution is piss poor.
    - Movement is buggy and lacks the smoothness you'd expect in an FPS.
-The game is plagued by loading, loading, loading and un-rendered textures
-Multi-player matchmaking is awful e.g. lag, merging, and more un-rendered textures
-Exo survival matchmaking has no ranking system making it difficult to find players that know what they"re doing (also merging with games in progress happens frequently)
    -Choppy gameplay online and offline
-The exo suit feature which may be the saving grace of the game offers a new dimension to playing
however hurts the casual aspect of the game by making players unpredictable

Overall it seems that Sledgehammer games tried to make CoD spectacular by adding as much filler as they could, making a simple FPS overly complex. Potential buyers of the game should be warned, the PS3 version is garbage based alone on the optimization on the system, the game is frustratingly slow and choppy. Sledgehammer should of cut parts of the game or not release a ps3 version if they knew it would run so poorly.
If you are a die hard fan of CoD, go ahead and buy it. If you enjoy FPS games, get the game for a better system or give it a pass.

Unfortunately, if you haven't moved on to the newer generation of consoles you are going to be disappointed with CoD: AW - or at least I am. The first thing you're sure to notice: the graphics are horrendous! Seriously. This game looks like it could've been a release title for the PS3. The textures are muddy, the pop-in is atrocious, and simply put the game is just ugly. I'm not the kind of gamer that plays a game because of graphics, but after watching a PS4/PS3 comparison video I can't help but be disappointed. You can just sense that the game's developers didn't really care about releasing a grade-A title to last-gen gamers.

As for the multiplayer, it is fun, don't get me wrong, but it's not the evolution I had expected. Sure you can jump higher, sure there are some new high tech weapons, but in the end it's simply classic CoD multiplayer. Some will love this, some will hate it, but I'm in the middle somewhere. It's enjoyable, but I can't help but feel disappointed.

Overall I am disappointed by CoD: AW for PS3. The gameplay just doesn't feel as "advanced" as I had hoped and the last-gen graphics are simply ugly. This isn't a terrible game but it's also not a great one.

Nothing new to the Single-Player except for the Exo-Suit. To sum it up; boring dull, repetitive. Nothing special.

Multiplayer: As it may be the same multiplayer as before ie; game-modes, the multiplayer plays completely different with the new Exo-Suit. Double jump, strafe left to right, will bring a whole new level of enjoyment to the game.

I recommend the game; you won't get anything too special here, but as I stated in the beginning of this review; it is a big improvement for the Call of Duty franchise. If you are going to buy it, just expect the same Call of Duty, but with massive improvements; especially for multiplayer.

CoD is back with yet another installment of their overworked franchise. This edition has been revised with some new mechanics, nothing impressive or quite different which was a dissapointment, but they are giving fan service for once and with the promise of zombies, on DLC only unfortunately, it seems like there will be a few redeeming qualities for this game. But lets get to the game, The campaign? Very predictable, you take out terrorists, so on and so forth like every other CoD. Multiplayer? As of this review it has been riddled with connection issues along with the debate on the lack of guns in it. I side with the devos though on the decision to cut it down though because honestly no one uses but 5 different guns for the most part reguardless of choices. And finally the Exo Survival and in my opinion was the best of the game. Challenging AI with a smooth learning curve made it an enjoyable experience, at least for a while. Well there you go love or leave CoD is just gonna pump these out for as far as we can see into the future Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Advanced Warfare has taken things a little further than previous games whilst retaining the familiar fast paced run-and-gun style. After promising the moon on a plate, the game certainly has a different feel but whether expectation lines up with reality is another matter. The Multiplayer and Exo-Survival modes are done effectively however the Campaign story is a little too familiar.

Sci-fi technology/equipment unseen in previous titles is introduced. What was the futuristic technology of novels and movies has now become an interactive world the gamer can delve into with super-soldiers in body enhancing exoskeletons, sonic mufflers, threat detection and hologram USB technology being just some of the features. At some points this technology seems to mimic that of games such as Resistance and Killzone.

The campaign’s story starts off in the mid 2050s, the player assuming the role of Private Jack Mitchell in his first frontline battle in Seoul, South Korea. US Marines have been deployed to fight the advancing North Koreans.

There are 15 missions available with a noticeable repetition from past COD games developing. For example, the exciting-but-boring-after-awhile boat chases seen in each title since Modern Warfare 2, along with the near-useless friendly AI units that get in the way more often than not. Most of the levels are planned out more like shooting galleries with targets appearing on a similar lines to a rail shooter. For this reason it is the most enjoyable part of this mode, even though the player may as well be a zombie, no initiative is needed- just have to follow the guy in front and be told what to do as no alternative stories exist like in Black Ops 2.

Annoying stereotypes are also present, with the typical American hero figure fighting terrorists, political corruption and power hungry madmen. However, don’t let this be all negative, exciting new toys are accessible in missions, one being a hovertank with 3 weapons that can be cycled through. From EMP to shoot down helicopters and gunships, to rockets which take out incoming enemy tanks and machine guns which deal with the infantry. What’s not to love about toys such as these? Another major positive is the superb quality of graphics. They’re so good sections of the cut scenes are possible to be mistaken for live action instead of computer graphics. The ending is disappointingly average, with a cliché “this is just the beginning” however the overall campaign gameplay is mostly okay- as there is lots to kill with some seriously awesome weapons.

Advanced Warfare’s multiplayer section has had a Michael Jackson sort of face-lift. Certainly it is the game’s silver-lining, after the disappointment of the campaign story mode. Style and structure of the Multiplayer maps have been another seriously improved area. The maps have been enhanced to take advantage of the new exoskeleton manoeuvres. However, the loud elephant in the room is not uncommon to other COD titles; lag…lag…”host migrating”…server disconnect…LAG. The majority of games are plagued with this before and during games.

Survival mode has returned from Modern Warfare 3, keeping with the ability to purchase weapons and perks to fight against increasingly difficult AI in a wave based game. Players choose from three Exo classes; Light, Heavy and Specialist. Each start with different weapons and Exo suits aimed at certain play styles i.e. from fast movement and low armour to slow movement and high armour. There are four objective based rounds with dramatic assignments including defusing bombs, defending locations against bots/dogs/alien-AI, collecting intel and dog tags. This mode seems to be an exhilarating training ground, building players’ abilities to prepare them for multiplayer.

Overall the game developers have done an extraordinary job keeping up with previous titles while still adding something different. No game thus far can compete with the graphics, that’s a ‘no brainer’. The quality of the story however brings the game down a little as it really needs some work and move away from the whole American hero saving the world thing that appears in each game. Multiplayer as usual far exceeds the rest of the game and is pretty much on par with the graphics for top quality which will definitely be the major selling points. As for the Co-Op Survival, this has some additional fun but will quickly fade once any zombie maps get released unless worked on.

Surprisingly, it's slightly better than all the other Call of Duty games. I like its futuristic setting (although it's sadly not the same future we see in Star Trek or The Jetsons). Also, you can fly, which really helps in tough situations. Although, it still has that signature CoD mindlessness.

The story is something you would get out a bad but expensive Hollywood flick. The good side is that there are some new cool scenes and features. Some of the weapons are pretty cool like a futuristic Thompson sub-machine gun. The thing with the Call of Duty is that you also get it not only to play the story but also to play multiplayer. Sadly, the multiplayer is fairly boring and buying new maps is expensive. You could easy burn 100 dollars on this game just buying all the extras. You also have to pay for Zombies. You don’t even get one map for free. I understand that they want to make money but one also have to understand that people (including me) buy Call of Duty because of the quality and the added value. That is why it is so popular. If you take that away there is little meaning buying the game. I think the Call of Duty series risk going into the toilet if they don’t start to shape up and produce better games. Frankly, I don’t care if they have an A-listed Hollywood actor. I didn’t buy the game for him. There are plenty of good voice actors which come cheaper. If you are a fan of Call of Duty you will be entertained but nothing more. If you are new to the Call of Duty series then buy some of the older games such as the Modern Warfare Series. Expand

If you want to play an older CoD, go do that. All of them are still pretty active.
As for the story, it wasn't bad, the campaign is starting to feel more like a on-rails shooter and less of what it used to be.. which was a theatrical campaign that had a bit of intrigue and just the right amount of explosions.
My other gripe is the aliens multiplayer, which does replace the usual zombies. While I admire the direction to move away from zombies, but with CoD, its sort of something that is a hit and probably always will be.

The campaign is a mix of unique and filler. It is pretty interesting but at the same time it just feels like an excuse to slap Call of Duty on the box. I would have liked to see a better campaign and not remove it (ahem Black Ops 4 you scum). As for multiplayer the maps are, just maps. Also then making your loadout Activision brought back my least favorite system, the item limit. But to be fair the limit makes sense because the suits can be really overpowered and we get 13 instead of 11. But none of that bogs down the experience for me. As for Exo Zombies I can't tell you my DLC code from the Gold Edition hasn't worked even though my copy was bought new. I liked the handy solution, where when loading from location to location, the loading window popped up for a few seconds before the graphics loaded.

But the overall setting for the future does not suit me at all for the Call of Duty series. In my opinion, the developers could have released this game into the world as a separate title.

However, the gameplay itself is interesting, though perhaps unnecessarily relieved by various grenades, drones, guidance systems, sights, and so on. However, the experienced gameplay spoils the exo-suites the most, I really couldn't get used to them.

The story was made interesting and dragged into the story, but it could have been at least an hour or two longer. So especially the end of the story is very hurried.

I also give plus points for a well-crafted soundtrack and weapon sound effects.

In the last paragraph, I want to pick up famous actors who played in this game.

In the end, I give this game a rating of 8/10, the game exceeded my not very high expectations.
