    A well deserved finale to the series protagonists, Ezio and Altair. Stands up to it's name and builds upon the already solid storyline of the game and keeps us hooked every minute. Even though some might complain it's almost the same as the previous titles. But I don't believe they need to HAVE a new gameplay mechanic in every game. When you have a story such as this, it needs to be toldA well deserved finale to the series protagonists, Ezio and Altair. But I don't believe they need to HAVE a new gameplay mechanic in every game. When you have a story such as this, it needs to be told on an annual basis and the gameplay need not be revamped every year. Even then they did have their fair share of improvements such as the hookblades and Desmond's memories. The only thing which they went a bit far with was the Tower Defense minigame, which seemed to be a nuisance to say the least.

    Other than that, visually appealing as always and well worth the money. I for one hope they don't stray far from their winning formula and don't succumb to adding new gameplay features for each iteration of their game.    … Expand

    After Beating this game over a month ago, I can honestly say that while this is not the best Assassin's Creed in the series so far, it is still a very fun game to play. The story was more of the same, but was still intriguing all the way through. Gameplay has not changed much since ACII, but it is fun to hop across buildings and kill Templars. Multiplayer is improved from Brotherhood andAfter Beating this game over a month ago, I can honestly say that while this is not the best Assassin's Creed in the series so far, it is still a very fun game to play. The story was more of the same, but was still intriguing all the way through. Gameplay has not changed much since ACII, but it is fun to hop across buildings and kill Templars. Multiplayer is improved from Brotherhood and is much more easy to get into the action. Everything else is more of the same, but if more of the same is Assassin's Creed, it is still fun.     At the end of the game I stopped and thought what a great game. Actually, this game reminds me of another great game I just played a month ago in the name of Batman Arkham City. When playing assassins creed I thought how eerily similair the two games are. Both third person games, both have the same stalking and gauging the enemy feel vertical gameplay.     This game is great. I don't know why people are complaining about it. Yeah it plays just like assassin's creed because it is an assassin's creed game. Minor changes from brotherhood, but after that they have such a great system in place why would they change it. I'd be more upset if they did change it too much. I don't know how you could improve. besides maybe adding customize-able grenades, oh wait they did that! which at first I didn't really use them, but now I am using them all the time and they are super helpful and fun. the hook-blade helps you climb faster and swing further. Zip lines are only here and there so they are fun because it's not over used. I think the story is great and a good wrap up to the series. Not as great as when I played 2 but stories do die down and going out I guess isn't very fun in itself. But still thought it was great! not terrible. Also The city is huge! don't listen to people saying it's small i have no idea why some are saying that. Yes they have the "dungeon" parts which we are used to by now and i think they are big and gorgeous and as always nicely varied. Also lots of side missions, that I love. Some said the side missions are like chores, if you think they are chores don't play this game. I think they are fun and I love doing every single one. They have added new things to do too so it's not even (all) the same old side missions. I am a huge fan of this series and have platinum trophies for all the previous titles (only other games I've done this for is uncharted series). I love the style, the gameplay, the enviornments and the story. it is more of the same but that's what I love so much about it. if you love the previous titles you'll love this one. That's all for now I gotta go climb up a huge castle after killing a ton of guards and it's only a side mission.… Expand

    Amazing game. Awesome campaign. Multiplayer is great. Overall the game is great. No horses from Brotherhood but you get the hook blade to enjoy free running even more. Bombs are a great bonus.

    This game is really great, not the best AC yet, i still think AC2 is better, but a great addition to franchise. If you are a big AC fan definitely buy this. The multiplayer is a big improvement from AC Brotherhood, it actually fells like your accomplishing something

    Assassin's Creed Revelations is great, and it improved some important things: a better assassin recruitment, top notch animations and added some awesome mechanics. Even the puzzle sequences are fun. And even it haves a really interesting story and a fantastic ending. The problem is tower defense, It's boring and just an unnecessary add for this game. Still, It's a great continuing ofAssassin's Creed Revelations is great, and it improved some important things: a better assassin recruitment, top notch animations and added some awesome mechanics. The voice of Q from star trek as Desmond's father was somewhat enjoyable to me given the nature of the game being similar to the Q time continuum. I must say my game came with a copy of Embers which is why I have marked it down to an 8 out of 10. To see Ezio die on a bench was pretty annoying especially since in a metal gear solid 4 kind of way he decided at the end of revelations to live his life and find love but in embers he still had regrets ect. I must say Revelations was a very good game and I did not see the twist coming with Ahmet being a templar, i found that very interesting. I must note according to the game Ahmet's life was 1465… Expand

The map looks like Google Earth and it's really helpful for you to know where, exactly, are. We get to see what happened to Altaïr after the events of Assassin's Creed. The opening sequence, it's just incredible. The Places in the game, Capadoccia and Constantinople, are done with a lot of detail. Desmond's side, in this game we REALLY get to now him, and you begin to understand him. Synchronization to a 100% keeps being a challenge, and you'll have ton of fun accomplishing it. Voice acting doesn't get bad in this game, and fortunately, Roger Craig Smith was able to evolve into the older Ezio and make him feel, aged. The Sense of the Eagle, it's really cool and it helps for a few challenges.

    Bad Points: Crafting Bombs, it feels totally unnecessary and a pain in the a**. Den Defence (tower defence) is horrible and really frustrating, you are all the time wondering when it's going to end. Gameplay it's the same in every aspect, to Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood and it doesn't feel fresh. Horse Riding is taken away, although it was not very comfortable in Brotherhood, it did help you get faster to somewhere, now you have to run through all Constantinople. It's Length, it is very short and not every bit of it is very fun. There's no "villain", like Cesare in Brotherhood or Rodrigo in Assassin's Creed II, so you don't feel like you know where you're heading next. It doesn't feel much like there were any major "revelations" in this game, except from Desmond's side. There are no more than 3 outfits, and although it is a minor bad point, it's just too few.
    Final Score:
    Assassin's Creed Revelations is and Okay game and doesn't really change from it's predecessor. It is very short and I wouldn't really recommend it, although, if you're a fan of the series and you want to now what happens buy it.

    The game is about as broken as Unity in some of the same areas. Most of the time the climbing controls screw up and have Ezio trip or actively throw himself off a tower to his death, because he figures he might as well kill himself before he gets too old or something. That's if they even work at all, because Ubisoft just threw a bunch of squares into a sandbox without thinking about how the climbing engine would handle a ledge that's slightly too short for Ezio to properly climb up so he'll just wall-climb on the air and not grab the ledge, or have Ezio cross a 1 foot gap by dropping to a lower ledge instead of just hopping over it like a normal person would.

    They also decided to screw the combat because enemies will all attack at once and Ezio's counters and chain kills take about 5 minutes to execute so all the enemies can just shoot you while you're waiting for the enemy to slowly slide off your sword in the time it takes to cook a bowl of perfectly fluffy rice, and the game will straight up refuse to attack the person you're actually trying to aim at because why not. You can't air assassinate anymore, either, because the game will forget how the animation works and just leave you to die once you hit the ground right next to the guy you were trying to kill.

    It's the same thing that breaks New Vegas in that they added more BS onto an engine that's already overworked so it completely destroys the entire game. Only with New Vegas you can just play on PC and have a really good fun time and with Revelations it's **** on all platforms. I'm convinced that Ubisoft just didn't care with Revelations. It's DLC for Brotherhood that they sold for 60 bucks when Brotherhood was DLC for 2 that they also sold for 60 bucks. Doesn't add anything good and what they do add breaks an already tired formula. This game is why they reworked the engine for 3, because the game is the most painful experience to drudge through save for maybe clipping your nails with a paper guillotine.

It doesn't have the unique feel the 2 predecessors had, On the other two you remembered at what place you were at just by looking around, on this one everyplace seems to be the same... It wasn't very special for ezio's storyline either, the game only gave usIt's a great game for those who likes the series, but it's not very fresh. The storytelling of Revelations is better than all the other AC games, and does a fine job closing out Altair, and a decent job closing out Ezio. Once you beat Single-player and unlock all the trophies and challenges, I doubt you will be going back, which is a shame. Desmond's sequences are nice casual platforming while you are narrated the back story of Desmond, totally optional, but I feel that everyone will at least touch them considering the amount of content in the game. Multiplayer is well done in this game, and feels much more balanced over Brotherhood. I do question the recycling of some of the maps, but they don't really hurt the experience in any way. Introduction sessions were a fine addition made by Ubisoft, but I wish that they weren't mandatory, regardless, they get you used to what you experience in the game. If you have been a Creed fan since the start, get this game, it will be worth it, despite some drawbacks.… Expand

And what's up with the clunky-as-hell controls? This is the ONE thing they could have improved. But, NO. We still have to face absurd situations where Ezio feels like a war-tank instead of a stealthy assassin. Sometimes we need to MANEUVER Ezio, not move him, which most of the time means frustrating deaths and memory restarts. I love this franchise, with all my heart, but Ubisoft should now the perfect time to stop - and that was Brotherhood. No need for Revelations (although it' a great game) and REALLY no need of another Assassin's Creed. It's sad, I know, to even think that. But at least for me it's the plain truth.… Expand

The tower defence mini game that is implemented to allow Ezio to protect his territory is boring and clunky, whilst the addition of a parachute feels daft and out of place. However visually the game is stunning, the city feels alive and is perfectly rendered. If you haven't played the other two games (don't bother with the first one, it's rubbish) I strongly recommend that you do, if you played them and didn't enjoy this still won't be for you, however if you loved the other two games then you will love this.
    Ezio Auditore is one of the strongest video game characters of recent times (in my humble opinion he's up there with Solid Snake) and if you don't give this series a try you will be sorely missing out!

(not including multiplayer) Assassin's Creed has been one of the great new IPs of this console generation, with its unique take on parkour and mixing that with a historical tale, and good combat. But has the constant iteration of this franchise led to the stagnation of the franchises quality? Or has this led to a constant evolution which benefits the gamer and is worth your buck.
    Story: With its beginnings set in the crusade era, moving from Florence to Rome and now Constantinople (modern day Istanbul) it is difficult to say that Ubisoft have a repetitive setting and gives the gamer a new world to explore. Revelations begins almost directly after the events of Brotherhood, the Borgia Templars are no more, and Ezío has succeeded in his lifelong revenge. Now his eyes set eastward to discover the lost Masyaf keys left by his ancestor Altaír to uncover its secrets. This seems quite similar to AC2's move to unlock his armour but in a broader sense, the main attractiveness of the story is not the keys themselves but the change in his character, we see a new Ezio, forever lost is the young charming Firenzian bachelor that we saw is AC2. This breaths a sense of fresh air on the characters and the batch of new accomplices add to the depth of the story. The addition of flashbacks to Altaír give some fan love to the story, and the confusion yet interesting story of Desmond's predicament add great variety and continuity to the story.

    Gameplay: Gameplay in this series has come under criticism with the new iteration for not evolving quick enough to warrant a new $60/£40 purchase, but it is hard to argue with Ubisoft that a great deal of effort has been made to correct these complaints. Though the same brilliant parkour gameplay we grew to love with the first game. The change of setting is more than enough to allow for the fun exploration of these areas, this fact alone seem to give the parkour increased value, even with the included hardly exploited hook blade feature. The hookblade as mentioned gives Ezío and increased jumping range and allows the player to adapt. The combat is probably the highest issue over the years, as many criticise its old R1/RB and wait for them. Brotherhood was the first game to attempt changes to this with a more combo filled action but provided less of a challenge. Revelations tries to remedy this with the inclusion again of the combo system, where if one enemy is killed a timed strike on another will immediately defeat him. However this time around the inclusion of enemies that can withstand these combos adds a higher difficulty to the combat, which forces the player to adapt as there is only a scarce few enemies you can kill counter, you must make good use of the other features in combat. This gives an overall sense of immersion into the combat and the rise in challenge definitely shows. Assassin's Creed is hardly known for it set pieces and the quicktime events of the last game haven't seemed to expanded (thank you Ubisoft), but in this game I was trully amazed by some of the settings Ezío and Altaír would visit, not as blockbuster as MW3 or Uncharted but adds a mellow methodic feeling to the story which adds great value. Along with this the long enemy free parkour scenes the fans wished for returns in a spectacular fashion with the discovery of the 5 keys. In Revelations we see the first inclusion of their take on tower defence with the Templars and Ezío taking areas of the great city. The annoying camera angle feels unnecessary but it adds to the variety of the missions which has been a major complaint. The missions themselves still follow the regular escort, kill, disrupt method but have some greater variety this time, especially with a dress up scene, where you must become a guitarist (joke at older annoyances) and infiltrate a crowd. The addition of a new game mechanic with Desmond allows for the creation and movement of first person movement, much like Portal this seems a lacklustre feature but again just adds to the variety and does not intrude on overall gameplay. The gameplay and design of this series has evolved, there are some discrepancies on my end with annoying cameras and lacklustre features, but it is inarguable that AC:R has seriously added to the franchise.
    Presentation: The engine itself is beginning to show its age but the beautiful city and areas all but make up for its age. Animation has really been AC strong suit over the years in its combat and parkour, and this is still present, though the visuals of the water in the game really do pull any scene involving it back from its visual premise. No doubt AC: R is a beautiful game with great mechanics, but the ageing engine needs a serious update if the franchise is to sustain its stance in the market.

    AC:R does brilliantly to end Altaír and Ezío's story and the gameplay and presentation just give the gamer more value.

I always thought just platforming in the open worlds (rome, istanbul etc) to be great fun, so no need to change this, however, with ziplines, there is added excitement.     Multiplayer is similar to Brotherhood but is very much expanded with more game modes and of course maps. The new modes are fun and add variety, but I think the overall gameplay experience is well balanced and is much smoother. I feel much more accomplished in this game when I play well were there were a lot of times I got frustrated in AC:B. There are still frustrating points, but you can appreciate it much more when you succeed or understand what you did wrong. The story so far (~half way through) is similar to other games, as is the city building, but the small tweaks add to the already great experience. If you enjoyed improving rome, you will enjoy it more in Revelations. The new tower defense mini game that you can get is fun, albeit it would become repetitive if done too much. Sending recruited assasins off on missions is much better (also similar to old brotherhood) in that you see progress in the cities. Small but I enjoyed this a bunch in brotherhood and its better this time around.

    Also, the hookblade does just enough to change your fighting style to add to what is already a great fighter.

    Overall, if you enjoyed the exploration and fighting of previous games, that base of an experience is built subtly better with this installment. Nothing major or game changing, but as I said if you enjoyed previous versions, that is a great thing. Graphics: 9.0 (small glitches, new style is great- platforming still realistic with each holding modeled)

    I think this game is great. It continues the adventure and adds a few extras along the way. The graphics look amazing and the sound is on par. It is similar to the previous games because the whole series is good. I dont know what more they could have changed to please the critics and still keep it the game we all know and love.     Alltogether it again is a complete and epic new title in the franchise, sad to see that some ac haters give it a 0 or 1 instantly through which the average, which I see here lies definitely at a 9/9.5

    This is an Assassin's Creed game. If you didn't like it before, you won't like it now. You are still basically holding forward the hole time and sometimes pressing the attack and run buttons. It is exactly like brotherhood except you get a hook that allows for faster climbing and there's a new shallow bomb making mechanic. I honestly never found them to be especially useful. The money one was novel because I loved throwing money on the ground in the old games and watching people desperately race to try and pick it up.

    The big new thing is territory control. Like in GTA San Andreas but not as good. Like the last game, there are towers you have to take and guards you have to kill to take over parts of the map. But in this game they can take those towers back. When your areas are under assault, you're forcing into a boring tower defence mini-game.

    Also I'm not going to get very spoily, but there are some really clunky first person sequences where you have to place blocks in order to progress. The controls for these parts are really bad and the whole thing is really out of place.

    The brotherhood stuff is a little more fleshed out and it my favourite part of the game, aside from running around and stabbing dudes. It's a little more involved by which your gaining influence in areas that you send assassins to. This increases things like cash flow and is a pretty fun mini-game in itself.

    The multiplayer hasn't seen many changes, and again, if you were really into the last games multiplayer, you'll still enjoy this one. But will it still be fresh and novel the second time around? I guess that's for you to decide.

    You know if you'll like this game already. Do you like Assassin's Creed? Are you here for the "story". Well if you haven't gotten bored with running, stalking and stabbing and want another single player experience, go for it. Don't get this game for the multiplayer, because it doesn't last long and, while a unique experience, doesn't provide much beyond that.

    I really hope they take their time with AC3 and don't rush it out next year. Of course they probably will and there'll be more marginal changes. Vote with your wallets and rent this.    … Expand

    I haven't played the game yet but I've seen a few videos and it looks amazing! I wouldn't recommend this game for PC though. Why? Well, in my opinion Assassin's Creed games fit best for consoles. The reason to this could be the ability to relax on your couch and play from a distance instead of staring at the screen from two inches away and missing all the incredible landscapes (as theyI haven't played the game yet but I've seen a few videos and it looks amazing! I wouldn't recommend this game for PC though. Why? Well, in my opinion Assassin's Creed games fit best for consoles.     Well, besides taking familiar gameplay ideas from previous games, Assasins creed is more ambitious with its story this time around. Hoping to interweave Ezio and Altier's stories together. It works most of the time. Its epic story can keep you hooked and you can feel for the characters.

    Story wise, it stands out from the crowd, gameplay wise, its the same fun system we know. Some may find this bad, but i did not feel that bad about it. Why change what works? Overall, the game is great. Worth getting if your a fan and worth getting if you want to see what all the fuss is about. You just might want to play the first two first.    … Expand

    This is the best AC EVER, and the game can not be punished for is similar to its predecessors, because Uncharted and Call of Duty are too. Again UBI give to us a vacation on distant worlds, beautiful worlds, and Ezio is amazing in his final journey, I will missi him so much, but now I wanna AC3.

Forget about mw3 and all of the other new games recently released (besides skyrim) this is where its at.     Great for fans of the series it's a solid way to end the stories of Ezio and Altair. Critics don't like the new den defense system, but I think it's alright. People who are new to the story of Assassin's Creed might want to play the previous entries before playing this one.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Probably the most unnecessary sequel of the year, this game feels like it only exists because, well, there had to be another AC game this year.

    The story's rather uninteresting and cliché with every (!) plot "twist" predictable. The main aspect of it is Ezio's search for ... well, Altair's ... uh ... so, Ezio wants to learn more about Altair and what happened back then. But the missions you play as Altair disappoint. Not too many as the game is rather short anyways and they're ripped out, very short moments of his life. The "substory" told in them is totally pointless and neither contributes it anything to the big picture nor is it in itself of interest.

    Without going into too much detail, the same could be said about Desmond's story this time, as there is practically none for him this time and the overarching plot about the ancients takes a rest as well for the most part. In fact, all you get is a cutscene at the ending that tells you what you already know: the ancients' race was wiped out from the planet and they want Desmond to do something. And by something, I mean "something". Literally. They're not saying what they want AGAIN.

    Instead, Desmond's past is being examinated. Well, a few short "missions" where he narrates with few sentences what his life was like. It's probably meant to surprise the players, but feels more like they make the previous games lie to them and the sacrificing of continuity doesn't even achieve anything of interest.

    What's left of the story is a conflict in Constantinople Ezio's getting involved in as the Templars are messing around there, too. Basically, another struggle for power. Well, at least most of the characters involved are likeable, even the bad guys. None of them get explored too much, though, and as for Ezio, his trip basically results in realizing all of this isn't his business - something he has been told two games ago already and makes you wonder why they stuck to him for two sequels. Oh, and if you want to know how his story ends, you'll have to buy and watch the short movie of the PSN ...

    Short story short: the plot starts nowhere, goes nowhere and has little to no remarkable highlights.

    What can be said about the gameplay? It's mostly Brotherhood all over again with a few additions which isn't a bad thing per se. But it is beyond me how they can deliver pretty much the same game without working on any of the shortcomings and issues the prequel had.

    The game has been simplified even further and will only get you mad at the controler when it either fails to properly let you know what is expected of you, it introduces you to the bugs and glitches or when the over-automatized controls once again think they know better what you want to do than yourself.

    Also, ever since the first game, the actual "assassin" aspect has been toned down game by game, probably because for whatever reason, the ubisofts fear stealthy games that require patience and too much thinking might not be popular enough.

    The Revelations experience is broken into several "metagames". You have the have the Open World or Sandbox aspect including collectibles which is pretty good as usual, though again, the world lacks content to explore and this time, the city or map is rather small and looks boring. Not even any countryside around it. Now I realize they had to keep it somewhat close to the real thing, but still, if there was no possibility to make this better, why choose this city to begin with?

    Then the missions themselves, well, aside from some nice ideas at the beginning and the end the AC standard. There's little to no challenge, you must never think about what to do or how to approach a situation as there's almost no freedom or option. Even the 100% synchronization requirements are a joke and you'll be doing most of them without even trying as they mostly are what you're doing anyways.

    Combat both in and out of missions is as simple as ever and you can hardly die. In fact, I wanted to restart one mission and wanted Ezio to get killed, but it didn't happen. Amazed I watched for minutes how Ezio took hit after hit while standing completely still. He was regenerating health faster than the enemies attacked.

    There's some more, but I must come to an end soon, so let's rush the rest of this review.

    The graphics are outstanding. The music which used to be my favourite aspect of the series was, sadly, some forgettable pulp with a bit of local colour.

    The multiplayer is another aspect that makes you wonder why this game was needed. Sure, there are some additions and changes, but nothing that couldn't have been sold as an update DLC for Brotherhood. I won't judge on it as I'm not much into MP, but I like it for at least being different, even if I'm not perfectly happy with everything.

    Overall, for a game called "Revelations", this one reveals surprisingly little. There's fun to be had, but that's about it, a mostly forgettable experience.    … Expand

The setting is one of the best yet, Constantinople gives a vibrant world with NPC's that react 'smarter' than in Brotherhood and with a lot more animations. Also the draw distance of the game is increasingly better compared to Brotherhood. One last thing that I want to mention: The reviewers who give AC: Revelations a low score (due to the 'same' gameplay of AC: Brotherhood) and if they give COD: MW3 a high score, well they are not credible reviewers. They 'punish' one game with a low score because of the same gameplay, but the other game gets a 9 while it has the same 'negative' criticism. So please, don't miss AC: Revelations because of the 'strange' review scores. Read first a lot of reviews, not only the negative ones. And then decide if you want to buy this game or not.… Expand

The great caveat to these is the fact that aside from the one tutorial mission where the tower defense is introduced, you don't have to play them ever again. They're very much off to the side and out of the way. That small bit of nonsense notwithstanding, Assassin's Creed: Revelations is a brilliant game, crammed to the rafters with great gameplay.… Expand

As I said before, the story is fantastic. It could've been longer but still. In the end, I was kinda sad it's the end of Ezio's story and I still can't imagine a new Assassin's Creed without him. His story won't be forgotten by me and will be always one of the best I've played in a game or watched in a movie.    … Expand

    Empezemos por la JUGABILIDAD:

    - Una historia epica y con un argumento inteligente, y es que lo mejor es la NARRACION es perfecta, despues de haber jugado todos los titulos y evidentemente comprender su argumento va a ser dificil que te impresionen otros, es el famoso efecto de "es buena, pero no supera a la de assassin creed"

    - Los controles se adaptan perfectamente tanto en el mando como la infalible combinacion teclado y raton y sus mecanicas tambien rozan la perfeccion.
    - Es adictivo, y influyente este juego, te produce como el efecto "toy enamorao" porque pensavas en el juego antes de probarlo, piensas en el cuando lo estas jugando y sigues teniendolo en la cabeza despues de acabarlo un efecto que pocos juegos consigyuen hoy en dia.

    -La diversion claramente que esta, eso se nota CUANDO TE INTERRUMPEN MIENTRAS LO ESTAS JUGANDO Y DICES "DIOOOS NUNCA ME HABIAN ENTRADO TANTAS GANAS DE MATAR A ALGUIEN" eso es porque te relajas y eso soo pasa con los Game of the Year.

    TECNOLOGIA:

    - La IA es notable aunque hay algunas cosas que podrian mejorarse, pero TRATANDOSE DE UN SANDBOX es lo normal y ademas son cosas a las que no hay que dar importancia.

    - las fisicas y particulas son geniales dignas de Ubisoft Montreal, y hay elementos destructibles cosa de agradecer, interaciion con el escenario cosas que lo hacen mas tecnologico, y la iluminacio ha mejorado mucho y el humo ESPLENDIDO.

    I can't believe I even see negative reviews on here! Every AC has imporved on the last and this one is no different. I love what they did with the apprentice system. Some have complained about the den defense mini-game, but I enjoy that too. The flashback missions as Altair are a great way to show what happened to him after the first game and are really fun.     On the other hand the multiplayer is brilliant, and earns a high 9 (which averages the score to an 8). It builds upon and improves from Brotherhood and I found myself hooked to it for hours and hours. There are a large amount of different game modes to try, most of which are unique and very entertaining. The unlocking of the story of the Templars as you level up is a welcome addition, and gives you a greater sense of progression and greater depth to the overall storyline.    … Expand

    Excellent game. There is no game that combines third player action, swordplay and a great story with the same elegance. And I really (really) enjoy the Isatnbul settig, the awe inspiring action moments, etc, etc. I could have done without the den defence though. On the up-side, I did enjoy Multiplayer a lot, so that is a bonus.

Also eagle vision has changed from triangle to L3 and you have to be standing still to enter it and it can be difficult to do it. The bombs are a nice touch but get annoying after a while and despite what ubisoft said there isn't that many variations and they never really come in usefull. They've done a stupid thing by taking all my weponry from ACbrotherhood surely Ezio could have aleast kept the crossbow on his back or his big pouches I spent ages saving up for. I still haven't been able to buy the crossbow which is a ridculous amount of A (the currency). They've seemed to design the world to be awkward to travel around so you can't really smoothly travel the city. The onlines better this time but I'm already bored of it after 21 games (been playing artifact assault). The story is still random but the ending's good sort of, I never played any of the first person desmond missions and I never felt like I was skipping anything your not automatically placed as desmond a screen prompt just tells you a new missions opened up for desmond. The hook blade works well and I didn't hate the tower defense sections they're not as bad as people say. The story really bored me and the fact I had to travel like 10 minutes across the city just to watch ezio write a letter to his sister really angered me, alot. I just was so dissapointed. I don't know what else to say about it. You get the first game on the disc (ps3 only) which is more focused on actually assassinating people which is why the second game is the best, buy that.… Expand

    So far this is the best Assassin's Creed game i ever played. It was awesome feeling to play Altair again and see how his Story continues. The ending was stunning, it could not be better for last game with Ezio.
    Waiting for next Assassin's Creed to see how the Desmond story continues!

Assassin's Creed 2 brought with it two phenomenal stories - the continuation (and improvement) of Desmond's, and introduced us to Ezio. Arguably, Ezio has become an iconic video game character.

    Due to ignorant fanboy demand, the departure of the original creator and the decision to milk a cash cow, instead of a 2 year wait for a fresh experience I am assuming would have been Assassin's Creed 3, we got "Brotherhood" which did barely anything new, but did do everything better.

    "Revelations" again throws us back into the life of Ezio as he randomly decides to go to Constantinople. The plot is paper thin, the premise is tired, but we all still love Ezio so it's all ok? No.

    My main gripe with Revelations began at the very beginning of the game, with Desmond. His face has been completely changed. Some deluded fans seem to believe this is just graphical enhancements - it is not. His face looks completely different. This makes no sense. Nolan North still voices him, so why does his face have to change?

    Same thing with Ezio. I know he's supposed to look older, but his face is again completely different. I have read in more than one place that this is due to the fact that previously, Desmond's face was projected onto Ezio's in the Animus. Due to the circumstances in this game, that is not the case here. I can almost swallow that, but it still doesn't explain why Desmond has had a ton of plastic surgery.

    My second main gripe is with the fact that the overall plot is not advanced AT ALL. Desmond begins the game in a coma, and wakes up at the end. That is it. If Ubisoft would stop pandering to the fans we could actually see a story GETTING somewhere. Assassin's Creed 2 and Brotherhood actually did this beautifully. We know all of his ancestors are dead. The reasoning for keeping Desmond in the Animus has been worn absolutely paper thin, hence the coma. Wake him up and let me do some modern day assassination already!

    I am also very tired of the constant Assassin's Creed money-whoring. Including multiplayer as part of the trophies is not fair game. This was also an issue with Brotherhood.

    Having finally relieved myself of the above, the game plays as well as it's predecessor, and is slightly less fun because every bit of constantinople looks the same. The map is difficult to look at due to the colouring but that's totally minor.

    Ezio's story has salvation in romance, and Altair finally HAS a story other than "I am a brat, I have seen the error of my ways, I will now follow the Creed". Altair's part in this game is a welcome return, and is one of the golden parts to play through. We finally learn a bit more about Desmond, although the canon of his story from Assassin's Creed 1 is completely ripped apart and forgotten about. (Originally he had no idea he was an Assassin, now he was raised on some random farm and trained from a very young age?).

    If you're a fan - pick it up. If you're not, play 2, then Brotherhood. If you want to keep up with the story, watch the intro and ending on YouTube.    … Expand

It difficult to overexceed something that is also superb and with no mistakes.     From beginning to end, I found myself loving this amazing title. The way I see it, ACR is the best title in the AC series. I was very disappointed because of ACBH, mainly because of the singleplayer story, but ACR includes everything had in AC2 and ACBH, and improves it, along with an awesome story.

The best thing about this game are the soundtrack (wich is physically missing on the collector's edition) and the multiplayer mode improvements.     This, for me, was a disappointing game. I found the whole thing rather repetitive and long winded. Creating a trilogy of Ezio was a good idea but they left him no backing in a storyline, therefore it became boring. It has not enveloped me like other assassins creed games and I'm sure you could easily not but this game and go straight into AC3.

His departure was presumably due to Ubisoft demanding yearly releases from Assassin's creed which is an unbelievably bad ideaAC2 is one of my all time favorite games, and it is tragic that this is whats happened to it. As I'm sure a lot of you know Desilites the man who created Assassin's creed left Ubisoft near the time Brotherhood launched, and that departure has proved devistating. His departure was presumably due to Ubisoft demanding yearly releases from Assassin's creed which is an unbelievably bad idea for this series. This game, which spent 1 year in development being worked on by around 12 different Ubisoft firms, is not only the worst Assassin's creed game of the series, but a game so terrible it frustrates me to my core. The largest complaints I have are that the entire map of the game is the size of at most 1/2 of one of the major cities from the first two games. Meaning its roughly 1/6 of the size of either of the first two games. And the same lack of size could also be said about the game's duration which is pathetically short. And instead of a well devoloped story line they filled the small game with as much side content as they could, which honestly feels more like doing chores than enjoying a game. And incase Ubisoft or you the reader arn't aware, having 12 different studios work on your project, isn't a good thing. Having one studio do the entierty of the project (Assassin's creed 1 and 2 being done soley by Ubisoft Montreal) creates one cohesive project. Meanwhile we have sections of revelations that feel like they're not even part of the same game. There are rather lengthy sections of the game spent finding circular "keys" left behind by Altier, that would have you believe that beneath Constantinople (Now istanbul) lies massive caves that are unfathomable. Remember the bat cave in Batman Begins, basically imagine that encompassing all of Gothams underground, and you have the size of the caves that you have to "explore" (liberally used) to find the keys. But these sequences arn't even worthy of being called Assassin's creed material, as they're mostly comprised of you running one track that can't be construed as challenging by even the most gaming illiterate parent who just happened to pick up the controller. And they're filled with cinematic cut scenes which I guess are suppose to kick up adrenaline from the player but instead just make the player suffer extra time spent in these atrocious creations. And while these segments are awful, they pail in comparison to the awfulness of the desmond sequences as he explores his past. These consist of gameplay that at times seems like a horrible portal rip off, and at other times just seems like you're walking for no reason. These sequences are all in 1st person as far as I've encountered so far and feature no parkour what so ever. The only game play mechanics in these sections are walk slowly forward, jump, and summon blocks from no where for you to walk across to the next platform. At what point was this suppose to be considered a positive addition to the series? They're not challenging, they're not enjoyable, and they're not even good at the one thing they try to do, which is giving depth to the character of Desmond. Hes more winey than ever and it makes you hate these segments even more. Also I'm now about 3/4 of the way through the story line and it seems that Ubisoft montreal's new creative director (former art director on Far Cry though I forget his name) has forgotten one important thing about Assassin's creed. And that is the assassinations. Remember in assassin's creed 1, 2, and even brotherhood, sneaking into secure locations through elaborate sneakyness to isolate your target, or in some cases to just let him out into the open, so you could leap down or walk up and stab him? Well as I've said I'm 3/4 of the way through the game and have seen none of this. Maybe thats the being saved for the end of the game? But it leaves me feeling like this game would be worthy of 1 block of assassin's creed 2. Also theres no compelling story to this game, or even plot for that matter. Your in this city to find these keys but at times that feels like its a side mission to political happenings, that quite honestly arn't well explained or established. I can't tell what the actual story here is suppose to be, and thats not a good thing for a series thats almost entierly built on having a good story. Now when Brotherhood came out after a year (the previous games having 4 years and 2 years of dev time respectivley) I was a little upset at its length, but let it go hoping that 3 would be a full fledged game. But now that 3 has been slated for next year I can only expect more of the same. 1 year is not enough time to make desmond the main protagonist, as AC2 was building to, nor make a game of any length. So unless someone gets through to Ubisoft to push it back, expect another short game featuring an assassin from similar time period and one small city to finish off desmond's story.… Expand

    Compared to the others this is a disappointment, the story is too short and the game doesn't make you feel like an Assassin whereas the first one does with the planned killings. The way of defending your dens is terrible. I give this game a 4 as it doesn't compare to the others which were great games.

Basically, Desmond has to "clear up" his mind by viewing Ezio's last memories so that he doesn't go insane. That's the most laughable plot of a video game I have ever heard. The combat system is THE EXACT SAME as brotherhood though Ezio has a some new killing animations. Also, for a game that is supposed to be about an assassin brotherhood, there aren't many assassinations going on. In the whole game there were like 1 or two assassinations and you did not get to stealthily kill them. It was linear. They basically challenged you to a sword fighting duel. Remember the targets in the previous games. How you had different ways of getting close to your target, kill him and then walk away quietly? Well, all that is gone. Instead its an all out war between a "secret" brotherhood and armies of tempers. That is where den defense comes in. Basically, hundreds of Byzantine tempers attack your "hideouts" and you and your loyal assassins go to the roof tops and kill them.......This...is....NOT ASSASSIN'S CREED! Where are the guards? How can armies of Byzantines invade an Ottoman city and openly take over buildings and the city guards do NOTHING about it! I could go on and on but its really not worth it.     If you don´t know about the game series or what the main plot revolves around, here´s a small synopsis.

    The game is set into the year 2011 were human DNA can be explored through machines called "ANIMUS". Your character is a person that has left a group called Assassin and is now targeted by a certain antagonistic group called the Templars. These two groups have waged war for thousands of years against each other so that their vision of the future would come to being. The major events that unfold in the game world are revealed through your protagonist visiting his ancestor´s memories through ANIMUS simulation program which can make i´ts subjects re-live memories locked in their DNA.

    If you haven´t played the earlier games from the series and want to avoid spoilers discontinue reading right now. As for "Revelation" i will do my best to not spoil anything from it.

    So how does this "Filler" & "Story arc ender" pan out in the end? Lets dive right into the subject!

    What has changed?
    The game has gone through some very interesting changes and it shows that the development team is doing i´ts best to keep the game fresh and new.

    The game keeps everything you loved from the earlier parts: hidden gun, crossbow, poison darts, parachutes, assassins, huge range of different weapons and all that you´ve learned to rely on.

    In addition to the old you have some new impressive things to use and/or look out for in your mission to fulfill your creed.

    BOMB´S!

    Yes you had your smoke bombs before but now.. now you´ve got skunk bombs, lamb blood bombs, sound bombs, poison bombs.. BOMB´S BOMB´S BOMB´S! nearly 100 different mix of bombs in this new bomb crafting mode.

    The development team has done a great work making a lot of different tactics for players to use in the game with this addition to the weapons range.

    HOOKBLADE!

    The new extension of your arm. This blade can be used for multiple purposes including: zip-line travel, extended climb reach, hook´n run and some other nifty tricks. Its a fun new element which you can´t get enough of.

    ENEMY ARCHETYPE


    The enemy archetypes have gone through a nice change. Now that gun powder has been invented for mass use, Ezio finds out some enemies have invested into armor that can withstand bullets and the gun isn´t a one shot kill weapon anymore all though the poison still works as one. There are new moves which you will need to take use of when fighting certain enemy types like counter throw. One of the "toughest" enemy types in the game are called Janissaries which need the most tactical approach in melee with careful reading to counter their gun shots, dodge their attacks and kick to gain advantage.

    ASSASSIN DENS


    The game now has dens which can be captured and afterwards inhabited by your assassins which you will train in the course of the game to become master assassins. And with this addition comes a towerdefender type of minigame were templars are trying to recapture the dens. This mode is a ton of fun and tactical enough to keep you developing new strategies for it.

    FIRST PERSON PUZZLES


    Each Assassins Creed has had some puzzles (disregarding the first) this time around you will be hunting animus data fragments to unlock 5 different first person platforming puzzles which each delve into Desmonds memories. The puzzles are fun but short in quantity and you will feel like it wasn´t enough compared to the older games.

    What else has changed?

    Now to be honest nothing else has changed from the other games that much. Setting is different like always with allot of awesome historical details and scenery. You get to hunt 100 objects in the map this time called animus data fragments. You have 10 memoir pages which unlock the dungeon for the best armor in the game. There are allot of things to buy and renovate just like in brotherhood which all though is time consuming still manages to be pretty fun.

    What about the story?

    This is the part I find the newest part of the game lacking. The historical settings is nice and the characters are intriguing and fun but the actual progression of the main plot "Desmonds story" is minimal to the point its obvious the game is a filler. You wont learn anything new that you wouldn´t already have managed to put together with the information revealed in brotherhood and AC 2. Ofcourse this doesn´t mean that the story fails entirely because it still succeeds to bring an end to the story arc of both Altaire and Ezio which is epic in its own right and managed to give me goosebumps.    … Expand

This game remained a little too similar to the previous titles in combat and movement, and so those would be my negatives. My one and only other negative would be the story, as there aren't many obvious 'revelations' in the story, as none of my important questions were answers, and all that does remain in the repetitive storyline are a few weak explanations about some of the character's pasts. However, I have to say that Ubisoft have done fantastic work on Constantinople, and have made a new vibrant and beautiful city to observe and explore, which feels more alive than the previous games. I didn't really like the den defense, I thought it was a bit pointless to me and just something that I tried to avoid because it just annoyed me. I loved playing as Altair again (especially now he has a proper Arabic accent not an American accent) and it really fills in some of the missing story points which was great. One thing is the better story and characters in this game, I did miss Leonardo da Vinci :'(, but the character here have personality which was missing in Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood. And now the online, it has been improved so much from Brotherhood, its quicker, better servers and just a better experience, it has been improved so much compared to Brotherhood. I loved it. But I'm really waiting out to Assassin's Creed 3 which has been announced for next year. This is a great game and I am having a good time. It has improved much from Brotherhood but still nothing could really beat AC 2, AC 2 driven out story and fleshed out characters really is the best in the series, so it better than Brotherhood for me but it isn't as good as AC 2. 8/10… Expand

But I won't touch on Altair's story but I will say there are some great moments while playing as Altair. The game starts out with a dramatic castle escape. Ezio then journey's to Constantinople to find the keys to Altair's library. He meets a local master assassin who teaches him to ropes and introduces him to a new weapon called the hookblade which changes the way you get around like the ziplines which are super cool especially when you do an air assassination from them and you can also save yourself from a dud jump.But there was one thing that bugged me the absence of horses I don't understand why they are gone they were great I miss my horse now. You have to recruit new assassins this time round but it isn't as essential they are really just there to help or make the experience easier and quicker. You also once again capture new assassin dens but when you become notorious your dens can become contested and your then forced into a weird tower-defense mini game which is good at first but then becomes repetitive and boring. But the mission structure is better and the jumping puzzles are great and the action has been pushed up a notch plus there are the ziplines i them as well. The combat has not been refined so it's still the stealthy fast paced action we love but I wanted it to change slightly but there are now some slow motion finishers there and they look great. Graphics and sound are refined your blades sound incredibly slick when being pushed into someones head. The blood splatters look better to. The character designs have been changed slightly. In the end Assassins Creed is starting to get COD syndrome so they really need to change it a lot next time around but that being said I think it's the best in the series so it gets a well deserved 8.5.     For those thinking if they should buy Reveleations before ACIII, you can easily skip this game since it shows nothing new.     Perfect game, it can even outshine Batman: Arkham City. There are no flaws, everything works well. Combat is easy but still interesting, story is amasing, stealth is good, parkour knows no equal. And do not say it's a copy-paste from past titles, if the game is good, repetiveness cannot harm it.

    Assassins Creed Revelations lives up to its brand name by delivering a fun and interesting storyline and good gameplay. My only complaint is that it might be getting a bit too stale. We'll see where the series goes next.

Now on to the cons, The games bomb crafting seems more like a chore than actually something fun, Some of the missions seem a lot easier than brotherhoods though I welcome less of the (Dont be Detected) missions, Den Defense is alright but should not be essential for in game, it should be only used in multiplayer or be made optional in the story, some of the characters faces seem odd (Desmond being the most obvious, and Ezio having bright yellow eyes) The game in all is a nice addition to the series and really psychs you up for the imminent AC III, the cons were not too drastic to make me want to score it any lower than a 9 and I am happy with my purchase.     The game is full of beauty and eccentricities, is the perfect closing for Ezio's and Altaïr's story, and starting of Desmond's final journey in AC3, is, for me, the best game i played this year.

    Let's just make this simple; everything Brotherhood did right, Revelations does right.    This is a tricky one; on the one hand, Revelations does not seem to be doing a great deal new from Brotherhood, but on the other hand I became so absorbed by sidequests, city-renovation and general arsing about that I'm not even halfway through the story and I've beaten most of the secondary content!

    Let's just make this simple; everything Brotherhood did right, Revelations does right. Where Brotherhood had problems (particularly in Multiplayer), Revelations by and large fixes them. The "Alert Meter" now represents Templar awareness and, rather than getting the city watch mad at you, it now represents the odds of Templars attempting assassinations against you, or even ransacking one of your Assassin Towers! Your recruits seem more talented now, with special "Master Assassin" missions available as you level them up, and the "missions" minigame has had further refinements.

    In terms of the new gear, it's all solid. Bombs provide some interesting new options for play, such as dropping a smoke bomb as you flee (vital now that the enemies are faster and stronger than before) or hurling a poison bomb to wipe out an entire patrol covertly. The Hookblade is also a nice touch, and performing assassinations via a Zipline, or using a Hook & Run to escape a fight is really enjoyable.

    However, I cannot be a hypocrite here, so I have to make something clear; this is NOT a Revelation. This is still, at its core, the same game as Brotherhood. You renovate Constantinople the way you renovated Rome, you find, train and deploy Recruits the same way (some of whom have special recruitment missions, yes, but it's still at its core the same), the sewer system is still used for Fast Travel and the same three factions help you out.

    On that note, there is a rather disappointing lack of faction missions. The Romani (Courtesans), Thieves and Mercenaries each have ONE mission, and whilst your recruits provide fourteen of their own I would have liked to see more use in your allies.


    Please do not misunderstand me here; if you liked Brotherhood, you will LOVE Revelations. It's the high point of the whole series, and the sections where you play as Altair provide fantastic insight into the backstory of the game. However, don't go into this expecting something radically new.

    FINAL VERDICT: 8/10. Absolutely solid, and as close to flawless as the series has come to date... but ultimately it feels too much like an Expansion Pack for Brotherhood than a true sequel. Nevertheless, this is a MUST BUY for fans of the series.    … Expand

I think it will take months to fully enjoy its amazing game world filled with interaction, elements of endless fun. However, everything except amazing map is a little bit of same. Gameplay wise, it is just a bit of the same from AC2. Graphics is probably same, let alone maybe even worse. Story? Story is solid. Nothing exceptionally amazing, but will keep you watching your monitor for some time. It is easy to tell they are hitting up the top of what they can achieve with this series. They can just now continue to release products like this, which is for me, very very sad.… Expand

After a fantastic start to this highly anticipated game..it is easy to get immediately drawn into the interesting prospects of Constantinople, but this is where it goes wrong, this city is not nearly as beautiful and appealing as Rome. Apparently throwing in ziplines on several rooftops to use the newly equipped hookblade is enough to deem this an improvement. Sadly no. I myself was looking forward to this game after an excellent trailer, but after the gripping opening hour within Masyaf, I found myself plloughing through the story extremely quickly merely just to progress the Altair and Desmond saga, altairs story clearly holds this game together but I was disappointed in Ezios progression, very little was there for him to actually be a part of and this saddened me as he was arguably the most favorable character of the series and it was only through watching the 'Embers' short that we realise the fate of our hooded hero, in the game he seems to be thrusted into a severely premature ending. There was no build or momentum and i felt robbed for completing a relatively mediocre story. The redeeming qualities of this game is the beginning few sequences which keep us in a forward motion..the graphics are as good if not better than they've ever been and it was good to relive Altair again..but as an avid Assassin fan..I'm glad I finished the stories of two unforgettable heroes, but sorely disappointed at the lifelessness of Constaninople and the anti-climax of such a revering story.… Expand

I also find it funny that in Italy of Renaissance the guards didn't have any weapons but at the same time in Turkey, which was in the middle ages at that time, they had found rifles! In the end, one thing I learned from the Assassin's Creed series is:

    Nothing is true. Everything is permitted.

    And I use my critical thinking in everything. Thank you Ubisoft for teaching me how to do it. :P

While most of the things which made the series great are still here, virtually every adjusted or new mechanic, from notoriety, to den defense, bombs, and the hookblade, either do very little to how the game is played or merely fail horribly. While waiting for a notoriety marker to show up on your map so you can not be notorious from renovating a goddamn tailor shop, for example, a den you liberated comes under attack by templars and you are forced to run back and play an absolutely tedious and horrid den defense game. And first Rome, now every game is going to be in just one city? Why, so Ubisoft can rush these games out yearly like some **** sports or FPS title? Where the first 3 games had complex and varied geography and architecture due to their cityscapes, Revelation's Constantinople is a big monotonous maze, with one or two landmarks (as opposed to the countless landmarks of previous games). They basically went through the trouble of creating Hagio Sophia and a couple other landmarks and then just clone stamped basic pseudo-Florentine architecture based on a period map. Lame! I hope Ubisoft delays AC3 for the sake of making better games. The trajectory does not look good, and in my eyes, this franchise is dying, which is hard for me to say, because this used to be my favorite modern gaming franchise since AC1. The story was good, casting Ezio as a mentor was good, and the set pieces and tombs were great, but honestly, at its core, conceptual level, this is a rushed, unambitious game that's a bargain bin time sink at best.… Expand

But i am not too sure of whether the story was good enough to actually be recognized as one of the Assassins Creed 2 sequels, i mean, it was an okay game, but it had only introduced bombs and a hook blade, makes climbing and stealth easier and all but it is not what i'd consider worth the prestigious title. Also the story line is no way near as captivating nor as thrilling as the others, i'm not sure if it is because Ezio has lost his charm or just with his age or poor story writing. Playing an older Ezio is not appealing, but at least it satisfied my curiosity as did seeing Altair again.
    Yes they do deserve credit for it every game they make but I feel this is hardly a true achievement at all. The only thing that keeps me from not bothering to get the next one is the fact that I am a fan of this series. I am very disappointed.    … Expand

    It should not be missed by any Assassin's Creed fans, as it is an improvement over its predecessor, Brotherhood.
    Constantinople is beautiful, and the story, especially Desmond's, is engaging and fun.

    Ubisoft dosent usually let me down but this time it did. New ideas are not always good ideas and this is proven by the new tower defense mode which becomes boring and lame. The story line is not interesting at all and the fighting style is still the same. This is what happens when they start making yearly games.

When you are recruiting more assassins Ezio keeps repeating the same line over and over again. I am worried for the future Assassin's Creed games, because of the short amount of time Ubisoft has to develop them. The online surpasses the campaign which is a shame, what I'm interested in is the storytelling and the war that is going on between the assassins and the templars. I cherrish the numerous online modes. But it has an awful life consuming matchmaking. It's like they are focusing on the multiplayer.… Expand

    A good gameplay, even though there is not much good improvement outside of the bomb crafting. The graphics also begins to need a revamp. The story also felt like chronicles to Ezio's story more than a sequel. The big thing about this AC is the multiplayer, in fact: more game types, and less glitches than the Brotherhood version. In the end, buy it for the multiplayer, rent it for the singleplayer.

The story also while tying up altair's story from the original game, ezio's feels unfinished and to see the true finale you have to watch a short film sold separately. Also the tower defense portion of the game while being extremely unnecessary did not annoy me as I only had to do it once for the tutorial so I don't think its as much of a problem as most reviewers make it out to be. Desmond's sections however are boring and out of place portal style puzzles that have no place in an assassins creed game.… Expand

    An excellent game that is the most complete Assassin's Creed yet, though not a big leap forward compared to Assassin's Creed 2 when it came out. The story concludes and there are some interesting twists here and there, but it is time for Ubisoft to reinvent themselves. Even though I enjoyed this game, quality over quantity will ensure much better games onwards.

Revelations had alot to live up to, almost the entire original development team is gone from the last games and this would end the saga for Altair and Ezio. Sadly, it does not do what Brotherhood did, feel fresh. Brotherhood came in, having lowI love the Assassins Creed series. Sadly, it does not do what Brotherhood did, feel fresh. Brotherhood came in, having low expectations, but gave me the city of Rome, which was beautiful, a story that was good but not too over the top, and a new multiplayer then i couldn't put down till i had mastered it. Revelations feels like Brotherhood with a new polish and a few tweaks, but not much after that. The graphics department is amazing, but sadly the rushed feeling is there. Cutscenes can have problems, such as sound lag and sometimes the sound would cut out altogether. The new hookblade though is a accepted addition, which i was hesitent at first, it made sense. Constantinople wasn't as "close to the ground" as Rome was historically, so they needed a way to get you up faster. Beyond the hookblade though, u wont be using the other new gadgets as much as they say you would. Bombs are cool, but not necessary. The story in this is excellent, Ezio is as much of a badass as an old man then he was in his younger years. The characters are more likable and memorable, but in all it almost feels like it is the same thing as Brotherhood. You are still looking for new assassins to join the cause and you need to take down the Templar Order. What sets it apart though, and ultimately more fun, is the inclusion of Altair. It is also worth mentioning that Assassins Creed 1 is included in the Ps3 version for free, but only if you have the space on your hardware to hold it and if you really want to, this does not come with trophies and is a totally different game than its younger siblings. Anyway, Altair's story is continued and you find out what happend after the events of the first game with improved combat and new voice that fits the timeframe then the American one did in 07. Finally there is Desonds story, which as before is not as fun as his ancestors but this time comes with a twist. He is stuck in the Animus and needs to conclude his ancestors stories before he can get out. Finding collectibles in the main story that act like feathers and flags did in past games unlock new first-person sections that are ok at best, not amazing but a nice break of pace. The final part to this game is the muliplayer, which while still fun, isnt the same feeling. For some unknown reason they decided to take some of the old maps from Brotherhood and cut them in half for new modes, which while the modes are cool, i would have liked to see how stealthy you can get in a larger map. The new chracaters are fun to play as, but it needs a patch to fix them always doing the same kill, walking up and stabbing them in the chest. All characters do it and its as much eye candy and badass as a unique kill. All in all this game is a good deal for a PS3 owner, you get in essence 3 games, the main one, assassins creed 1, and its multiplayer, which has a storyline all of its own. Sadly, this isnt as fresh as Brotherhood was, and feels like if Ubisoft had given themselves more time on it than just a year this could have been a much better game.… Expand

But you often wonder how far can you move forward when it seems everything has all been done before.     I'm extremely pleased with the whole set here, the controls are redefined, and with plenty of new additions. Firstly the new hookshot allows you to climb with great speed, the new style eagle vision, and 2 inventory wheels separated by primary and secondary weapons. In terms of new weapon additions, you can now create 3 styles of bombs that damage, confuse, and distract guards etc, however I didn't find myself taking too much notice with the bombs, unless I absolutely needed to.

    As usual the map opens up, and soon revealed is a massive, filled with quests, shops, treasures, and key locations, nothing here though generally differs from previous games in the series.

    Dotted around now are zip lines for quicker traversing, gone are the feather, and flag collecting quest, now you collect data fragments, and books etc, I'm happy about this also.

    One thing this game could do without is the new defend the den game that takes place when you loose you faction to the enemy, and you must retake them, the are dreadfully, and annoying, with little point but to waste time away from what gamers really want, sadly they are unavoidable so get use to these.

    All in all their is enough here to keeps fans going here, and it's definitely worth the money, moving forward now though, how far can they keep the fire burning bright? We will see.    … Expand

It's a fun experience, but rather than taking any risks with the series or adding anything new the developers decided to give us more of the same.     While the writing is overall solid Ezio's part really didn't need to be told. It's a rather uninteresting chapter, and the only thing it actually serve to do for the universe is let people know who he settled down with. Honestly it could have just focused on Altair as his story elements are actually interesting, although sadly brief. They also serve to move the fiction ahead, as well as show some real character moments. Something Ezio's does not.

    The modern day part of the series suffers from the same thing as far as writing goes. It opens gamers up to a little more of who Desmond is as a person, but that's about it. It's a filler story just like Ezio's. However they make up for that by including some interesting gameplay for the modern day sections. Some interesting first-person levels that rely on light puzzles and navigation obstacles. It's the first time this series has done anything interesting gameplay-wise with the modern day tale. However the need to track down collectables in the assassin chapters in order to access these levels may turn some off. I personally found them worth it.

    As far as the core gameplay as an assassins goes it's almost entirely the same experience as Brotherhood. The only real new additions are a "hook blade" that enhances platforming ability and a pseudo-tower defense mini-game. Nothing else really new here. Same goes for the multiplayer.

    This lack of change means that it's still guaranteed to be a fun experience for those who enjoyed the last entry, but it also means that there's nothing all that exciting going on here. I didn't do any of the side-content because I had already done it all before. This lack of change means that this feels more like an expansion pack to Brotherhood, rather than another full-fledged entry in the series.

    In conclusion this is very much a filler chapter in the series. There is no innovation here and the majority of the plot elements feel throwaway. However that does not mean it's a bad game. Quite the opposite really. The core gameplay that makes the series so enjoyable for so many is still in place, so it's always a fun experience. One that any AC fan should play. Just don't expect anything you haven't seen before.

    big fan of the assassins creed series and this game was okay, but its definitely the worst one there has been. i did enjoy completing it but i feel the storyline was a bit random and wasnt really needed. I feel ubisoft are just padding out this series to make as much money as they can...

    Assassin's Creed Revelations will satisfy those who are looking for more of the same but if you're expecting some major innovations, prepare to be disappointed. Revelations isn't a bad game, but the experience no longer feels fresh.

    In the end, Revelations mostly feels like a step backwards that was probably rushed to market just to satisfy the need for a yearly installment.
