    I would give this game a 8.5 if metacritic would let me.. Originally after seeing IGN gave it a 8.5 I felt offended, I've been looking forward to this game for a long time and although I feakin' loved Ezio, I was excited for the introduction of the new assassin Connor... Alas Connor ended up being the biggest dissapointment behind the many bugs of the game. After coming away fromI would give this game a 8.5 if metacritic would let me.. Alas Connor ended up being the biggest dissapointment behind the many bugs of the game. After coming away from Revelations with Ezio, Connor made me realize how much personality Ezio contributed to the overall game. Connor is in a terrible situation in AC III and yet it feels like he's a push-over. But aside from this and the bugs I loved how massive the game was, although sometimes frustrating to get 100% synched... AC 3 is really the largest AC game there has ever been and it definetly is the best overall, it's just not 100% what I was hoping for. I didn't really focus on any of the side mission stuff while playing the game because they make it too easy to fast travel. I'm planning on giving liberation a shot now that i've completed III, I really hope they turn this series around and find a new exciting Assassin, hopefully one can measure up to Ezio.… Expand

    First of all, the negative reviews on this game are sick and tiring. Everything in this game is incredible, and everything about this game is epic. Let me get all of the minor flaws out of the way first. Yes, this game does have a few hiccups, but so what? It's not like the game of the year last year (Skyrim) wasn't full of bugs, right? Wrong. Let me get all of the minor flaws out of the way first. Yes, this game does have a few hiccups, but so what? It's not like the game of the year last year (Skyrim) wasn't full of bugs, right? Wrong. Other than that, Desmond's face looks a bit like a prehistoric monkey, so I suggest him wearing the hood is much cooler, but that's about it. The technical achievements in this game is mind-blowing. The vast open-world is full of things to do, from hunting, to side missions to just exploring the living and breathing world. The weather affects in this game are magnificent, whether it's the snow glistening brightly in the sun, or the lavish leaves and tree branches, or the foggy rain pouring down, it is all beautiful. The weather takes an important toll on gameplay as well. For example, if you are trudging through snow, it will make it easier for you to decide to navigate through the trees instead. Speaking of navigation, this game is flawless. The free-running is the best the series achieved, and climbing through trees is even more flawless and free than navigating your way through the city's rooftops. The graphics in this game are outstanding. The motion capture makes it very realistic and brings you even deeper into the story. The character models as well are fantastic and are almost all very diverse. Just looking at the fantastic view of the wilderness is breath-taking... even looking at what the city has to offer (namely Boston) is incredible. The crowds are significantly updated and improved upon as well. They will take note of your action, excuse themselves when bumping in to you, and so on. Each individual person is all doing their own thing, which is cool. This time around, there are kids in the game. Some of their character models can be the same, but that's not the main problem there. They are plainly annoying. They all have the same laugh and will not stop bothering you unless you throw money at them. However, if they notice you are thieving quite well, then they will send you on missions or give you tasks to complete. The voice acting in this game is superb and brings memorable moments just as memorable as the faces you see and will come to remember. The animals in this game, such as bears, deer, elk, moose, goats, dogs, cats, rats, foxes, rabbits, hares, sheep, etc. are all very different in both the way they act and the way you act to them. For example, if you see a pig you can't kill it but you can feed it, and if you see a domestic dog you can pet it. But bears, on the other hand, let's just say you should try to kill it before they kill you... oh and I forgot to mention wolves.... yeah, they're dangerous as well. Foxes will just scatter away. Performing air assassinations on animals is just as fun and fulfilling as performing them on redcoats. New weapons, such as the rope dart, tomahawk and bow and arrow are all thrilling to use. The feeling of sitting there in a bush an knowing that at any given time you can assassinate either an animal or a person is awesome. The bow and arrow works very well, and feels very realistic. The rope dart is probably the most fun weapon to use, as you can list people up to trees or lever them closer to you for an assassination, sort of like the inverted takedown or the bat-claw in Arkham City except here you can kill. The story is also extremely exciting at certain points and jaw-dropping at others. The eye-popping visuals and top-notch voice acting and sound effects contribute to that highly. The Desmond bits in this story are very fun to do, and are always a nice break from the wilderness. Navigating through underground tunnels can be fun at times, but honestly can be a little boring too. Building up a Homestead is fun to do, and you will meet a vast array of characters, each with their own personality along the way. Your brotherhood is acquired through in-depth missions of recruitment, making it more meaningful than in the past. The naval combat in this game is outstanding. Just the feeling of commanding a vessel on the high seas with speedy winds blowing in your face is chilling... never mind destroying other ships with your cannons. Overall, this game is an excellent mix of Red Dead Redemption, Batman: Arkham City and Uncharted with it's courageous own twist on history. This game is not only the best of the series, but the best game of 2012 as well. While I haven't gotten to multiplayer yet, I am sure I will love that just as much, but the fact that I haven't even got to it yet, show you the wealth of gameplay in single-player.… Expand

    AC3 is a great game. It has a great time period for the setting and the story is excellent. There have been so not so positive reviews but I will say this, if you like adventure games with a lot action and if you like to take the time to explore then you will like this game. I have played all the assassins creed games and this is by far my favorite. It does not do a whole lot differentAC3 is a great game.     played AC since the first one released, this one is a total disappointment. Assassin running is wood or walking on ground are missing the original merit of this game, stupid and nothing cool. This will stop me from buying the game for the coming years. Who dare to being an assassin without style.

I guess I will say the positive things first. Maybe I should say thing. The graphics are really great and the game actually looks beautiful. At least when you aren't slipping into holes in the geometry or clipping through walls that is. You play as Connor, or his true name Noonecares. I didn't much care for Ezio, but Connor has got to be one of the dullest personalities I have found in recent games. Despite having more character development than Ezio, he still falls short when compared to Ezio. The rest of the story somehow manages to be boring too. Many of the exciting moments take place in cutscenes and then you just walk from one cutscene to another. Sounds fun? You're right it doesn't. There's also a 6 hour tutorial. Yep! You don't even play as Connor then either! I know right?! Look just wait for this to drop to 20 dollars. If you must play you may find some enjoyment, but don't expect a godsend.     I have played all the Assassin Creed games and was looking forward this one so much, but when reading other reviews was a little worried, so waited until the price dropped before buying! A good choice, while the game is nice to look at it, it is very frustrating and the characters are pretty dull.     I can't believe how much I'm hating this game right now. I've always loved the AC storyline. AC2 being superb. AC3 story and character have been a complete failure. Although, the prologue was interesting, its quite strange to see the initial characters you played suddenly act evil. Didn't really sell well for me. Connor is too serious all the time. His baggage becomes your baggage and youI can't believe how much I'm hating this game right now. I've always loved the AC storyline. AC2 being superb. No. And this is why I'm giving it a positive review. A3 is a breath of fresh air, even though it's pretty much the same game from before. It's the small tweaks that made the difference. The environment (finally leaving old Europe) isEverything (that we've learned to love and hate) is here. Gameplay, graphics, mechanics, we all know what to expect. Does this mean A3 is more of the same? No. And this is why I'm giving it a positive review. A3 is a breath of fresh air, even though it's pretty much the same game from before. It's the small tweaks that made the difference. The environment (finally leaving old Europe) is gorgeous, with a beautiful scenery and an open world that reminded me of Red Dead Redemption. The whole concept is fantastic as well (the assassins and the templars involved with the American Revolution). The new character, Connor (it's impossible to write his Indigenous name) is an interesting one, with a charm of his own; and it's great to play with someone else then Ezio. Another great addition are the naval battles, which function as the best mini-game in the series so far. I don't know where Ubi is taking this franchise but this time, at least, they really offered something with a new taste. And, for me, gave the series some lifetime to burn. Not the best game in the world (and not the best game of 2012) but a great game nevertheless. Must not be missed.… Expand

    First off - Big Assassin's Creed Fan, so naturally I was waiting for this to hit the shelves since its announcement. In short - It's a game that will not disappoint however in my opinion, hasn't got enough to blow it out of the park. For example, one second Achilles is going to train him and BAM 6 months later: Master Assassin. Connor himself is a great character but he lacks the charm and likeablilty the Ezio has. He reminds me a little bit of Altair, and to be honest, the game resembles AC-I quite a lot (Long travels in between cities and horse rides that have become not all that fun anymore). The combat however is really good (however it does take some getting used to), new weapons are great, naval missions are superb and hunting is also well executed. This game is by no means a bad game, however I think if it had more elements of Ezio's installments mixed in with these new features, it would of made for a masterpiece. Still a must have in your AC Collection.… Expand

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I came into this with much baggage, thinking the team had gone too far in implementing an era that didn't really suit the previous chapters. How wrong I was! This period in time was sublime, fitting and engaging for almost all of the game. It does take a while to warm up, but once it does, the characters, environments, story and voice acting swallow you in for one amazing open world ride. Although the engine is aging, AC3 looks stunning almost all of the time, especially during the naval missions. My only gripes revolve around it's lacklustre protagonist, it's occasionally sketchy combat mechanics and...it's bland, bland ending. If you think Mass Effect 3's was a letdown, wait till you see this brain fart! But at the end of the day, you're still left with one of the best titles of the year, and one that will be a thrill for anyone who appreciates a game that isn't riddled with the ADD swamped fury that our consoles have been plagued with a la FPS.… Expand

Instead we are served this rather bland and predictable story that doesn't really grabs a hold of you. There are no interesting plot twists. It's such a shame. What AC3 is missing is an overlook, something or someone to tie all the knots togheter. You have this beautiful setting but they could have made better use of it. The now famous naval missions are great but irrelevant for the story. There's a protagonist who's rather boring when he could have been so great if the writers would have just tried harder to mediate the feeling of "whatever I do I'm doomed" or something like that. A lot of elements in AC3 reminds me too much of the pointless collecting from AC1. A lot of stuff is utterly pointless in AC3. Collect various trinkets for no really useful reason. And the ending is horrible, a cliche unworthy the AC universe. Was this the best they could come up with?… Expand

It's not, you have to fight against the patriots as well as the redcoats and the Founding Fathers aren't idealised at all, with George Washington himself being shown as a weak leader and a poor tactician. I personally don't have problems with the main character (and I certainly don't find him worse than the overrated Ezio Auditore), but one thing can't be denied - when compared to his own father (who serves as a secondary protagonist for like, 4 hours of gameplay), he lacks his charm and charisma. If Ubisoft decides to make another annual half-baked "sequel" (and they will, everyone loves money), they should definitely devote it to Haytham's backstory. However, as for the modern-age plot with Desmond struggling to save the world, things are not as bright. Desmond's missions are stupid and boring, and the ending is totally underwhelming, it's not an ending in fact, just an open gate for a sequel of some kind. I was hugely disappointed by that, since I liked Desmond's story before. Now to the technical part of the game. It looks just beautiful - AnvilNext provides some beautiful scenery, especially the Frontier. The protagonist's animations have been remade, and now just watching Connor climb the trees and jump over fences is a joy. The game suffered from some glitches in its 1.0 version, but that didn't ruin the game for me. Anyway, to the gameplay. It's still the AC gameplay you're all used to, no revolution here, sadly, just a few tweaks. Same lame "stealth", ending with you forced to go into an open fight 9 out of 10 times, basically the same combat system (with one change - you don't need going into the blocking stance to counter, so it's a bit faster and smoother) One welcome addition is the sea battles. Connor takes the role of the Captain of the Aquila, the Assassins' fleet flagship, and crosses the seas, fighting other vessels, while boarding some of them. One thing that I'd like to mention, is the soundtrack. Ubisoft somewhy didn't hire Jesper Kyd for it, so Lorne Balfe took his place. While the main theme is memorable, most other tunes are not, and that is a shame, since Jesper Kyd's music helped a lot to dive into the atmosphere of a particular age. To sum up, it's a good game, neither much better nor worse than AC2 in my opinion, mostly improving over its predecessor. One thing that it shows is that the franchise doesn't need to go Call-of-Duty-like annual. It's the first game in the franchise since AC2 that I actually enjoyed.… Expand

After playing all the Ezio games I was not only beginning to tire of the same old stuff gameplay wise, but also very disappointed in how unlikable Connor is, especially when compared to Ezio or even Haytham. I wish I could have played as Haytham for the entire game instead. I did play the game through to the end, which is saying something I guess, but I really have no desire to go back and try to complete more side missions or unlock or explore anything else. The ending also felt like a real let down. I remember almost crying at the end of Metal Gear 3 because of how beautiful it was. The ending of this game left me feeling empty and thinking "That's it?"… Expand

Here is my review of the game, first the graphics, the graphics in this game are really detailed and beautiful, the character models and the environments are great and when you reach a highpoint, you will not want to go down just because you want to apprecciate the scenery, especially in the frontier, now the gameplay, this is your typical ac gameplay but with some cool tweaks, the controls have changed, now you counter with o or b in ps3 or xbox, you knwo have double counters and combos which feel great , it is also dual wielding , the combat if done right you can teke out large groups of enemies like a boss because of the dual wielding you can now kill cleanly and quickly, it also has a greater stelath feature with some new itmes like the bow or the rope dart, and some other new functions that meake the steakth easier and cooler, you also have hunting, where you can hunt animals and sell their pelts at a certain cost based on the way you killed the animal, which is really cool and interesting, you also have club challenges which are also fun to complete, the naval warfare is good, ot is fun and keeps the game fresh, and you can also upgrade your ship, all of the gameplay is a ton of fun, the only minor problem I had though was the crafting interface, at the beggining it was confusing as **** characters: the characters in this game are really likeable and well done, i almost cried when achilles and haytham died, connor for me is in par with ezio as a character and all of the characters are really deep and they make you care about them, at least for me, i wanted every memeber of the templar order to die , and at the same time i was worried of what would happen to connor and his companions throughout the story.
    story, it is a direct sequel to assassins creed revelations you start the game as desmond where he and his friends find a crypt but then desmond starts to have allucinations and he eventually faints, i'm not going to say anymore to don't spil anything more than i did, but the story is so well done that i never wanted to stop playing, and i LITERALLY dodn't want too, if i had to pee i would say to myself **** IT!! i want to know what happens next.
    Overall in MY opinion it is a 10 out of 10, it has some minor issues and bugs but i think it raises the bar so high that it doesn't deserved any pints of. Peace    … Expand

The crafting is handled in one of the best ways I've seen yet. No more of this 'my character does it all' (fight/explore/blacksmith/leatherman, etc.), but rather, these things are managed by you but w/ a quite an explicable backdrop whereby you are recruiting others to do the work for you, while you're off saving the world. The free running through the forests and trees is phenomenal but this is where some of the glitches come to light. As I said, this is forgivable as one takes in how much the dev's accomplished with transferring the style to the forests, as if the cities weren't cool enough. Well done! The horseback riding is similar to Red Dead Redemption but doesn't flow quite as well especially over and around some of the rocky terrain.

    But those are minor things for a game that has added some pretty phenomenal stuff to the mix. When I played Uncharted 2 and 3, I envisioned how cool a game like that would be with a Ninja or Assassin; now I have it. Excellent game world to lose yourself in for hours upon hours.    … Expand

Assassin's Creed III does not offer much new, the story is not as touching as the other AC games before it. It lacks drama. You don't get attached to the assassin Connor as you do with Altair and Ezio.     This game is... quite honestly this game is rather bad... this is coming from a guy who has quite a high tolerance level for glitches and just general bad gamedesign. I can stomach a glitch here and there, I can take unresponsive control, in Assassin's creed 2 and Brotherhood these existed as well and those are my favourite titles in the franchise by far... but this game just takes it to aThis game is... quite honestly this game is rather bad... this is coming from a guy who has quite a high tolerance level for glitches and just general bad gamedesign. I can stomach a glitch here and there, I can take unresponsive control, in Assassin's creed 2 and Brotherhood these existed as well and those are my favourite titles in the franchise by far... but this game just takes it to a whole new level, begging me to question wether Ubisoft really finished this game, and this is coming from someone who's played the game nearly half a year after it was released, and hearing the game was even buggier back when it hit the storeshelves! The story is a complete boring on-rails experience, woven into a mission system that almost seems afraid to let go of your hand out of fear of you getting hopelessly lost. This is coming out of personal preference but the colonial times are just not as appealing to me as renaisance Italy was, probably because I am european and I'm not too educated on american history I don't know but the setting, aside from the graphically amazing frontier, felt incredibly bland and most buildings seemed more like a copy paste job than anything else. The combat, while definitely fun on its own, is a case of don't fix what isn't broken, what was wrong with ACII's combat? The music, wherever it is present, is still amazing, Jesper Kyd's feel for making this series sound awsome is still very apparent in this title. But none of these things come even close to how utterly broken this game feels. free running is a disaster, i can't count how many times I have pressed forward on my controller and Connor ACTUALLY went backward! the mission constraint don't feel like bonus objectives at all, they take the fun out of the game for any completionist out there and in some missions they actually punish players for being thorough, such as some of the naval missions where having a fully upgraded ship actually makes achieving bonus objectives a complete and utter excercise in frustration. I have loved this franchise since day one, the pseudo-sci-fi backstory of Desmond aside, I adore the historical feel of these games, but the way I see it this game was a nail in the franchise's coffin. One final word of advice to Ubisoft, give us an ASSASSIN's creed! If I wanted to play an action adventure game I would go play God of war.… Expand

    Comparing AC3 with Revelation I found that Revelation was better in story and graphics. While AC3 is better in controls variety of quests. Still AC Revelation beats AC3 for me. I'm an Ezio fan, so having a new assassin to master should    I believe Ubisoft did good with this one. New big world and new set of quests better controls.

    I just finished playing through the campaign and must say it's been a hell of a ride. I thoroughly enjoyed every moment of the game and there were no moments where I wanted to put down my controller, with the exception of spending too many hours playing. I wasn't too huge a big fan of the series, but this game won me over.     The game is very glitchy (floating NPCs, missions that can't be completed...) even after the last official patch. The game itself isn't too far from the previous AC episodes and the ONLY breath of fresh air comes from the sea battles/sections. The secondary quests are more or less "go there and press a button", almost every single one of them.     Unfortunately, I can't call AC 3 the best of the series, or even my favorite.
    But that doesn't mean it is a bad game, oh no! The start of our Assassin's story begins with quite a twist! ...But I wouldn't spoil to much about it.
    It was interesting to see the story from the point of view from a character who isn't an Assassin though. But after the start it quickly follows the old AC formula, kill these Templars (in an interesting way) to progress with the story, meet interesting people from history and do some free-running. Not that the formula is bad, it's one of the reason I enjoy the games! But there are some things about it that just piss me off, Connor has a chance to kill one of the major Templars on more than one ocassion...But doesn't! Even after the bastard left Connor to die/fend for himself everytime he left! That pissed me off a little... he has his reasons of course, but whatever. Another thing I truly loved were the missions on sea.
    Not only did the ocean look beautiful on a clear sunny day, and terrifying during storms, the combat between ships was some of the most fun I had while playing. Sinking pirate ships, boarding ships and fighting the crew on deck and simply sailing around was tons of fun! I hope Ubisoft makes use of the engine they used for AC 3 to make a pirate game! But let's continue with this review. Though I enjoyed the sailing side-quests (I promise to shut up about them now) I didn't really bother with the rest of the side-quests. You can chase and collect Almanac pages (which frustrated the hell out of me), collect feathers (which I only did in the turtorial mission), hunt, brawl, Frontier mysteries, take Assassination contracts and so much more... Honestly, to me it seemed like all that stuff was just there to pad out the game. Then again, solving some of those Frontier Mysteries was a lot of fun, and I really enjoyed the music they used for the Brawls! The rest I didn't really do. As for the Homestead? I can't say that I hated it.
    I generally liked building up the village and as I did more missions, I felt closer to the people living there. There is this one mission where the abusive husband of one of the women living in your Homestead tries to break into her home and take her back, or beat her up or whatever...I wasn't really paying attention because I really hated that guy and was filled with glee as my fellow villagers and I stomped the **** out of him and his friends. But, unfortunately, in most of the missions you have to do for them to make your village grow and gain more crafting material (more on that later) it feels as if they are to lazy to do it themselves (even though some have good reasons, like being a deserter for example) or that you have to hold their hand while you are doing it. Another part of the Homestead is the whole crafting/trading buisiness.
    ...I can honestly say that I did very little with it. I crafter a few weapons, and traded maybe three or four times in the entire game. It just seemed like something else to pad out the game with, and not really an all that usefull future... But I'm sure there are some people who enjoy micro-managing this sort of stuff. Now to our two main characters.
    Desmond: Honestly? When I first heard of this game I thought that we would finally get to play as Desmond. Jumping around exploring modern cities to find clues left behind by the First Civ that could help save the world, while fighting Abstergo as they are hot on their heels. And maybe finally build up a real relationship with his team through real conversations and fighting side by side, instead of the short talks we get when we leave the Animus (and the e-mails you recieve). But no, even though we do get some short (and pretty fun) missions with Des, I never really got to know him. Or cared for him as I did for Altaïr, Ezio and even Connor. Connor: I liked Connor, but not as much as the previous Assassins. Through Ezio and Altaïr we really got to know what the Assassins stood for, the history of their order in their homeland and why they fought. Connor does have a pretty good reason for wanting to fight the Templars, I give him that. But you never really seem to see him as an Assassin. We only hear about the dissapearance of the Brotherhood through short talks and an entry in the database, and we don't see much of his training either. I still liked him, even though he didn't express much emotion (aside from the occasional angry outburst.).

    Anyway, this was my review!
    Despite some negativety on my part, I really liked it! I still have some pet peeves (like how everyone politely waits, and attacks one at a time, in combat. Waiting to be slaughtered) but I'm running out of words. All I wish to say is that I enjoyed this series, and hope to see more of it! (Which is pretty damn likely, considering the sequel bait at the end of the game!)    … Expand

The amount of gameplay is enormous and the vast majority of the side missions is a must to play. The story is spectacular. I am a bi tsurprised that the game havent got even better scores. It's prettier now but it's essentially the same as the previous two with an even more boring combat system (the old one was already a zero threat snooze fest).     This is, definitely, the best Assassin'S CreeD ever. The graphics, movements and narrative are great, and you'll enjoy walking around through the Frontier and kill some templars. Definitely, is a good game.

    Assassins creed 3 is great. There is a huge variety of weapons like: muskets, the tomahawk, and flintlock. The sprinting is now a lot faster.. And the game is actually a challenge, The difficulty was normal, but it is considered a challenge compared to the previous AC's

I think this game is cool because it got cool warfares and fighting moves but too bad...i had nocticed that MOST of the Assassin's Creed series have endings that ended with u unexpected and a feeling of not enough explanation. (Also, AC series doesnt like boss fight or huge warfares at the end) I always loved how the story goes, like there is Present Day and back to the animus. Too bad for wat? Well, i think its too bad that the game is such a great invention but so short. Sleeping Dogs will be the example of Assassin's Creed III. I thought there will be a long way to play after Desmond plug in the power sourse and we will get back to Connor. Well, we DID. YEAH, AFTER THE CREITS. Everytime i finished a AC game, i HAVE to do research for wat the hell happened at the end or wat s gonna happen. I DID NOT expect touching a ball will be the end of Desmond and all. But the reason why i gave a very high score, is because the warfares and fighting are very fun. I remembered that there are canon warfares and ship warfares but...i think they place the warfares on the wrong spot.… Expand

    Could of been a great game. Still good but AC2 was by far the best assassins creed game ive played. AC3 is filled with bugs and its just too hard to stay undetected which for me spoils the game. Still not sure how people can see you with their back to you. Still good but just not great.

    Being the first Assassins Creed game ive played this game is magnificent. The story flows so well in the game. The combat is pretty good and i like the hunting part of the game. The only thing that i thought was bad was one of the character not moving its lips when he talked. The game is a lot of trial and error for me and that is what makes it fun (but can irritate me too).

After 10 minutes I would get to the objective, sit through a 40 second cutscene and have to go to another objective marker that is 3 areas away. This completely kills any momentum the player had previously built up. Overall, AC3 isn't a terrible buy, but if you haven't already gotten it you should wait until it goes on sale.… Expand

    After Brotherhood, the series starting taking a step back. Revelations was a good game, but it felt like a chore to complete. The story also started to become a lot more convoluted and uninteresting. AC3, while it has a lot of good stuff to it, continues in this negative direction. While it drew me in with a very unique Revolutionary War theme, it quickly ended up being just another chore to complete in the same vein as Revelations. It started off as a relatively fun game, but it quickly descended. It felt relatively similar to previous Assassin's Creed games, even with the change in scenery. The gameplay is good, but it just wasn't all that engrossing anymore. I had a hard time keeping interest in this game. While the game encourages exploration and doing side quests, I was just more concerned with completing the game and seeing how the story concluded (which it really didn't do a great job of doing, at that). I just didn't care about doing any of the side missions. In AC2, the whole experience engrossed me and made me WANT to do all of the extra stuff. Brotherhood also had a similar effect, but was starting to diminish a bit. I did very little extra stuff in Revelations and that trend continued with AC3. The whole experience just wasn't as fun as it used to be, despite being a well-done game.

    Connor is a decent protagonist, but it's very hard to get into him, and that is a big reason for the game's shortcomings. He's a no-nonsense guy who really doesn't have a lot to offer personality-wise. And it's easy to understand, given his past. However, it also makes it really hard to relate to him, and that's where you start to distance yourself from the game. The average gamer is probably going to have a tough time relating to Connor because he is just so... meh (I couldn't really think of another way to put it). On the other hand, Ezio also had a very troubled past, but still managed to be a very entertaining protagonist. He was a funny guy with a lot of personality, and we all know a guy like him. This helps draw you into the game and makes you wonder what happens to this very interesting character. Altair really didn't have this, and neither did Connor (for the most part). Connor's past definitely had a lot of potential to create a strong storyline. And, while it did produce a pretty good storyline, it just wasn't as engrossing as it could've been. And a lot of that has to do with Connor not being an incredibly likable protagonist. It's a pretty serious hindrance that drags the game down. It also makes you start to notice other flaws in the game that may have been covered up otherwise. I immediately began to realize how, aside from a few slight additions (like the battles, which I found to be decent, at best), this is basically the same exact formula as AC games past, but with a different appearance. I quickly began to realize how the whole game started to feel like a "been there, done that" ordeal. The Assassin's Creed formula is really good, but it was starting to grow a bit tired by the end of Revelations and it was really magnified by the end of AC3.

    Is Assassin's Creed III a bad game? Absolutely not. It's a fun experience that is, unfortunately, hampered by some rather glaring flaws. It features a subpar protagonist that really could've used a more likable personality, a "been there, done that" feel, and a convoluted overall storyline that just really makes you lose interest in the series as a whole. These 3 big issues really kept me from gaining a full interest in this game.

    Without these big flaws, I think this would probably be a solid 8/10 game. However, they are present and really began to take a toll on my interest. I just couldn't get into Connor. I got bored of the same formula that has been present for the previous 3 games. The overarching storyline is just really confusing as a whole and just ended on a sour note in this game.

    Again, AC3 is a decent game. However, it had a chance to reinvent itself with the new setting, but it just didn't capitalize fully on that chance. Instead, we got a very similar game to previous AC games that, while good, was very tired due to the same formula being utilized in the 3 previous games. That just didn't sit well with me, especially with all of the material it had to work with in the Revolutionary War.

    Ultimately, AC3 ends up being a mixed bag. There's a lot of good stuff featured in the game, but a lot of stuff that will make you shake your head, as well.    … Expand

The combat system is a welcome improvement over previous games in the franchise. It is satisfying as hell to decimate an entire platoon of soldiers with the combat system. The environments are gorgeous and the construction of Boston and New York during their time period is great. The main protagonist, Connor, is alright and I don't mind Connor as a character. I prefer Altair (OMG NOT EZIO?!?!) but Connor's story invested me enough to want to keep going. Last positive thing I enjoyed were the naval missions.

    Despite what I stated in the last paragraph, AC3 is more frustrating than fun. The reason is because I didn't feel like an assassin while playing this game. I found invading forts to be dreadful because the stealth mechanics are just poor. A.I. opponents can see you rather easily, even if you can't see them (as in one would be behind a door and could still flipping see me when I exposed myself). It seems like these fort missions encourage me to use combat rather than stealth, but I don't want to do that because I"m an ASSASSIN. And while the tree running mechanic is somewhat fresh, the old gameplay of Assassin's Creed hasn't improved, as in it is still as frustrating as it was in the first AC game. This especially shows when you're trying to chance someone. I felt that even though the combat system improved, the core gameplay of AC was left untouched, meaning all the issues with it are still present. This is a big problem because this is how you're going to play the game, and it is a long game so at least it isn't light on content. As for the Homestead missions and crafting and trading, why? Why is this a new core gameplay style for the AC franchise? It wasn't necessary in AC2 because of how much money you would make from other missions, and the same happens in AC3. I don't like it, but maybe some people have found some enjoyment in it. The side missions are bland. Courier missions are just kind of there, and so are delivery missions. Club missions provide some enjoyment and provide usage to some gameplay ideas, but I found them to be forgettable. Overall, AC3 has good intentions, but I found they were executed poorly. It is frustrating rather than fun and that is what is what stopped me from playing the game. Both Assassin's Creed 1 and 2 had problems, but the gameplay worked for the missions that were granted for you, most of the time. You easily take out your marked targets and then continue on your way. You can even walk up and stab them and just skip being sneaky about it. I really thought this game was going to take a different step from previous titles. I guess I just shouldn't trust trailers but I was hoping to be participating in giant battles against British forces. Maybe you have to break through enemy lines to carve a path to the general. Instead, you have some dinky event where you press the trigger to order some men to fire, then run over to some other men and order them to fire. Rinse and repeat, die of boredom. At another point you are on the battlefield, and you have to sit behind cover. Cannon fires. Sit behind cover. Cannon fires. Sit behind cover. Really? It makes me long for another Viking:Battle for Asgard, sure that game was boring as all get out leading up to the big battles. But the big battles were there and they were epic! This just continues on the path of "one man army". Another huge point for me is who the hell cares? Once again I find myself hating Desmond, and the fact that I am forced to play as him and his god awful storyline. Connor (animus character) is just as lifeless, where I find myself saying, who the hell cares!? I couldn't even bring myself to finish the game because there was just absolutely no point. Where the game does shine is the naval battles. Commanding your ship, is well executed and by far the best part of the game. The controls are streamlined and easy to take the helm of. Everywhere else though this game is complete phooey. Definitely the last "Assassin's Creed" I'll ever purchase. (It gets a 2 for the naval battles)… Expand

He is unlikable, because he's always unhappy, angry and short spoken. Desmond's story gets confusing. What make things even worse, is the abysmal, insulting ending.     I never really felt as emerged in this game as i did with AC2,ACB and ACR since the story is dull and way too draged out to be any fun.
    All the characters in AC3 is alot more boring and forgettable than the ones from AC2 which makes the story even worse as it beacomes more of a chore than anything else.

    I very rarely get as excited for a game as I was for this one, and it was for that reason that it won top place on my WORST of 2012 list. A massive letdown from start to finish. And with the newly announced AC4 on the horizon, my hopes are dim for this franchise to redeem itself.    … Expand

    Climbing in the trees was a nice thought, but it actually turned out to be a joke. Every single time you get up there, it's always the same five to ten trees you get in.
    The thing with the animals is just ridiculous. I mean come on!!!! I had just finished red dead redemption and you all know what that meant, right?
    The guys from assassins creed must have been thinking, 'hey, I haven't got any inspiration', 'I have an idea, let's copy paste stuff from red dead redemption. Those gamers are so stupid they won't even notice.'

    I'm still playing the game and man I'm so so frustrated!!!! The game freezes at least once every time I play. Most of the time when a tree is lying down and (that retarded killing machine) connor bumps against it. He just can't seem to jump over them You know, the same action as when he is standing with his hand palms against the wall. I really hate that! They must have thought, 'O well, it, they'll take anyway'. Sometimes when i want to get on a horse, the x button just doesn't work (o and no, it's not the controller because that has been tested).
    Every single time i play the game I also get stuck at certain parts. Like yesterday I threw my controller through the room because after killing two guards at a door. Connor just went through it and got stuck inside. The day before I got stuck between a little ditch and bush. I literately got stuck at knee hight.
    And talking about bushes...... Man if you consider the times in Venice where the details were extremely well done, now it is like I'm playing an eight year old game. No? I'm exaggerating? O, please do look at the bushes, plants and all that. Man the bushes are 2d planes. What's with that? That is so ugly... you can't even begin to imagine, you have to see it for yourself. O, and 'bushes', well, they look like cardboard pieces they took from a d-movie from the seventies.
    And the biggest part is that you can't even get through the bushes and plants. They don't even move. Just, bam, I'm walking against walls in the forest more than half of the time and there is no way to get through two plants or bushes where the leaves almost touch. Hey, it's a big no no guys because two leaves almost touching each other becomes impenetrable.
    And what's the deal with the sudden switch of character? Wasn't it possible to maybe actually implement how we came to have another character? Look, when I begin to play an AC game, I always make sure I get some money and do quite some side quests. Do you feel my frustration when all of a sudden the character is gone, along with all the gathered money? that!!
    And where is the stealth? Hello-o? It's all about hacking and slashing in this game. No subtlety at all.
    And why do you guys take us for idiots? And I thought the fighting system from batman was for kiddies. Well, compared to AC3 it's quite 'complicated' because you have several different ways to make combo's and have different knobs to use.
    With AC3 I can eat, look at a movie, and meanwhile kill every single soldier with just hammering the square button. The fun is just gone.
    No nice gameplay, a dull story, brainless characters, graphics from the nineties (well, you know what I mean). And what's with the music? No more ambience and chilling while wandering around? O, talking about sound. Sometimes when I'm in a fight, the sound of the slashing and hacking drops away. Very, very funny! (It does come back after five or ten minutes or so). The times that I was rofl laughing with the little things you heard the people say in the street with AC2 (or the others for all I care) is gone! Here and there there is something, but now I laugh because it's a joke.

    And the biggest most hilarious thing about the game (but it's not such a big a deal) is when connor is raising the American flag.
    Like Chandler from friends use to say, 'could it be any more ridiculous?' Yeah, they wiped out his whole town and family, but he's loyal to the U S of **cking A.
    And the riddles? Where are those genius riddles from before? Again, you think we're idiots right? Man, those riddles I was sometimes having a really hard time, but it was fun. REAL fun! It gave you something. It was like the hidden history was being revealed little by little. All this tension is gone. No more feel of mystery.
    By the way, I'm only at sequence 4...

It has ALOT of story content to offer you. And there is alot to do if you want that platinum trophy. The online component.... disappointing. I can't see anyone spending money on such a thing. Getting full sync on some of the missions boils down to pure LUCK. I am not joking when I say that. I won't even grade the campaign story since this is my first entry in the series...but even I could see the obviously holes....I feel sorry for the fans. Ship combat was one of the redeeming features of this game....it was very well done and ALOT of fun. The other thing though to mention is the combat system in ac3. You willl read alot of reviews saying that it has been perfected. Honestly.....maybe it has......But it doesn't matter! The combat itself is so easy in this game...there is no challenge whatsoever....it's just mashing two buttons to auto kill every enemy over and over again. Perfected? maybe.....but it sure isn't fun to be able to take down a million redcoats without breaking a sweat. You take down entire forts yourself in minutes....waltzing through the front door. There is no incentive to use stealth in this game. The times it has you use stealth are the most frustrating things ever....you can easily kill Everything in the game...yet they force you to sneak around and .....it was a giant headache. Alot fo content here for your money......but so much is lacking here. The core of the game is just not fun. Playing for the platinum will only end in frustration. Playing for the story will end....probably badly for many fans. It's kind of weird how I could rate it as a 7/10 and then do the extra side missions and end up with a 6/10....it's a slap in the face. There's no challenge here. There's so much wasted potential. If only they made the combat a little challenging....but they put restrictions on everything in the game and it ruins what potential there is for fun.… Expand

There was an extreme lack of assassination missions (I cant remember any at all). A lot of the game was on the rails and offered little choice for how to carry out your missions. Instead, I got a useless excuse to learn a new history lesson. MP is still crap and should be removed from the franchise for good reasons.

The new assassin Connor, isn't just what would keep this series interesting. I personally think that Connor is the most useless and stupidest of assassins and the quests of AC III are dull and boring. The story is the worst in this game, and the series would've been better in the beginning without Desmond, Abstergo or the Apple of Eden. The story is two parts: With random nonsensical messing around with Desmond and also the noble savage Connor and the evil white man. The combat is messed up for example, removing the lock-on and adding flintlock weapons that are rubbish. The quests are filled with annoying bonus-objectives and the stealth-mechanics make no sense. And the worst part is the awful naval-combat, what had a great idea, but was executed poorly. Only thing good about this game, is the historical events and the architecture from the years 1700-1800. So with Connor and his useless gadgets don't support this game and the quests and missions are painful and boring to play this was a nice checking out for architecture in form of a game that was not worth of pre-ordering. I suggest you avoid this and check out the newest one when it comes.… Expand

    This Assassins Creed game is different than the others, this set in the America's independence, and make a revolution of the genre, it have one of the best history's i have ever seen in a video game, the game play is very cool and the mechanic its very surprisingly good.

    I wanted to love this game but I couldn't. I first watched it being played from a friend and found it very long and boring. I only bought it when Black Flag was released and realized I couldn't continue the series without playing all of it, so I picked this up and tried to play the main sequence as fast as possible to avoid having to deal with the rest of the game.

The time period this game is set in is very unique having tribal things mixed in with old time british stuff with ships and muskets, and it works fine. You also have a homestead and you can craft pretty cool stuff. I think this game is great for any fan of the series.… Expand

    Could not really get into it. The idea is good. The view distance is very poor and ruins gameplay. Not many worlds where i can only see 3 feet in front of me due to "fog". Ok in reality it was maybe 20 feet but you get the point. Fighting becomes a boring press this button then this, repetitive thing to do. Has potential though and i would love to play a nice game in this setting.

    - Historia algo floja, tiene momentos muy buenos y épicos pasando por momentos muy flojos o tediosos, aun así es una historia interesante muy disfrutable, con una gran protagonista al que veremos y seguiremos desde que es un crió hasta el final de la historia ya siendo bien adulto.

    - El sistema de combate es incluso mas fácil y simple que en anteriores entregas, mejoran mucho la movilidad y fluidez de nuestro personaje lo cual hace aun mas fáciles los combates y el abanico de nuestro arsenal lo hace un paseo.

    - La inclusión de la caza en este mundo abierto me a parecido muy divertido y te da horas para recorrer el mundo y su naturaleza.

    - Una de las mejores partes del juego a sido cuando reconstruyes el barco y te haces a la mar, realmente me encanto esa parte del juego.

But it felt like a good TV show or long movie. I liked Conner as a character. I also liked playing as his father at the begining of the game. I also liked playing as his father at the begining of the game. It added more weight to his character and to the story overall. The gameplay did not age well. Using R1 for running and climbing wasnt a good idea.. I hate how you can only climb some things in spots. I'm so happy they changed that now. Also the combat is just counter and attack for the most part... I hated the missions where you had to run on a track pretty much and follow someone and if you didnt keep up you would get desynchronized.. Same thing with the stealth. Desynchronized, desynchronized, desynchronized. Only time you should ever get desynchronized is when you die. I felt like I was playing a Dark Souls game in a couple missions.. Might as well replace "Desynchronized" with "You Died" because it felt like it.. Sequence 10 was bad when on that one path chasing that guy. It took me like 10 attempts to do it. Overall story is 8/10 and gameplay 4/10.. The real world stuff was good other than the bad ending.… Expand

Beautiful story, good graphics for its time, great gameplay, To top it off this sound track is not only beautiful, but the theme for the main character has become the the theme for the franchise in general.

    Gameplay: Fighting looks darn cool and ferocious, but the game still seems to suffer from clumsy climbing mechanics and odd actions when simple walking over simple objects.

    In Summary, this game seemed to do the bare minimum when it comes to delivering an conclusion to years of AC games. It has enough shining moments to prevent it from being a failure, but it hangs by a thread. I rate this an average game, which earns it a 6/10.    … Expand

    Another terrible Assassin's Creed game like all the others. Horribly sluggish controls, equally sluggish story, and mostly uninteresting characters. A real shame Ubisoft keeps pumping out the same old garbage every single year. I'm done with this series and with Ubisoft.

Like it's previous iterations, this game requires patience and luck. Luck is where I have a problem with this game. There are quite a few missions that have you stealthing your way to your end goal or following someone as to not be seen. With patience, you can accomplish any mission, but after losing and having to restart missions from their cheesy checkpoints, you will have to rely on dumb luck to make it through. AC veterans will have no problem, but casual gamers will be throwing the remote in no time. One of the issues I have are the controls. They seem unchanged since the first game and have you running around like a car thats rear wheels are falling off. Soldiers constantly chasing you in sheer panic doesn't help matters. I am used to playing the infamous games, which may be why I had such a hard time with the controls. All in all, the game looks great, the sea missions are good, but lacking. After a few, I was bored. The story is awesome as usual. I just hope Ubisoft refines things for the AC4. Being a Bostonian I loved the setting. All in all, AC3 is a good game, just don't expect it to hand the game over to you. Maybe i've gotten used to the wussification of game story telling. It's no Dark Souls, but I would put it somewhere in between. The failure is that it's difficulty is because of shoddy game design, not because the game is conditioning you

    The first thing I noticed was just how gorgeous the game is. Outside of some rare moments (mostly during some cutscenes) where bland textures and awkward animations make things look dated it's one of the best looking games I've ever played on PS3. It all helps add to world that feels alive.

    The story is excellent. The fantastic historical setting let's us participate with some of the most memorable events of the American Revolution. The characters are brought to life by fantastic performances and fleshed out motivations. The modern day story gets kind of lost in sci-fi mumbo jumbo at times and lost my interest long ago. But those who've stick with it should love the conclusion to the story that started so long ago, even if they might not like the actual ending.

    Tons of new additions, subtle improvements, and grand scale make this the most ambitious AC I've played yet. Ships battles are a blast and tons of new side-quests help you feel connected to the world in new ways. I wasn't a fan of liberating sections of cities being tied to obscure objectives not mentioned on the map, but overall that's a minor complaint. The modern day sections finally let Desmond see some action and gives gamers a taste of how an AC game set in the modern-day would be like.

    Multiplayer adds a few new features and game modes. The experience makes it harder to pick out who the real people among the AI are provided they aren't being totally obvious. This may make it harder to get kills, but once you get used to it things feels the same. If anything the extra added effort you'll have to put into finding your targets make it more like being an actual assassin.

    AC3 improves and expands upon what came before in the series. It tries new things with series and succeeds because of it. However even with the new features it is still an Assassin's Creed game and feels like it. It's both fresh and familiar.    … Expand

So to some up this game is really good but everything this game does has come from another game but that game did it MUCH better so instead if paying full price for this go get Arkham city or Red Dead redemption which you could probably buy both of them for less than you did for AC3… Expand

    First and foremost this game is a Red Dead Redemption clone, and a decent one at that. The atmosphere is pretty similar, and with the mix of cities it feels similar enough to an Assassins Creed game to fit in.
    However this game is as loosely an Assassin's Creed game as you can get. There's no Creed, you're barely an Assassin, everything you remember from the previous games has been changed. From the controls to the Atmosphere. From the scenery, to the feel of the characters.
    At first I was unhappy about the control scheme, but it wasn't until I read a random unimportant email from the Animus that it was explained that as this is an upgraded Animus, things have been "fixed". After hours of play, the controls are pretty much an easier configuration to accomplish what you were able to before. My biggest issue with AC1 was the messy way in which the High Profile and Low Profile controls were explained, while every other Assassins Creed game beautifully eased players into the control methodology.
    The Red Dead Redemption-like atmosphere sucked me in, it was a game I liked a lot, and I found the AC3 story more engaging than the RDR 'story' (more like sparse dialog exchanges).
    The scenery was nice, however there are far too many animation and texture glitches in this game. I mean there's a lot. At one point I even saw a horse-drawn carriage flip upside down- get slowly sucked into the ground in a hellish and horrifying jerking motion, before the horses screamed and the whole thing descended beneath the ground. If that wasn't frightening enough, it suddenly reappeared and zoomed through a building, where I chased it only to fall infinitely through the ground.
    Glitches I experienced range from character arms disappearing and bodies flickering - like all the time (not just animus effects) to in-game cut scenes where giant grass-land textures collapsed in a domino fashion as the main character walked off camera (that one was right at the end of the homestead missions and spoiled any emotional draw the mission created).

    Honestly, I found the characters to be very one-dimensional, and while I didn't dislike the main characters, found that I cared little about their arch's (if you can say they had any), nor felt like I knew their personalities very well.

    The crafting system is poor, and while I hated Revelations' Bomb crafting system. At least it felt as if it served function (despite me only ever feeling like I needed to use the bombs in one mission which I was forced to use them), the crafting system in AC3 can be completely ignored, and is really poorly explained in the game, with a terrible interface.
    Function of currency is mostly unnecessary in this game, as opposed to others, and makes the game feel slightly more like the original. I found that after accumulating £10,000s I realised I never had to spend a penny until I wanted to complete the ship missions.
    Chase missions are more quick-time event than before, and the large-scale tomb raider type puzzle missions are gone.
    All Assassin Recruit/Assasination Contract stuff from the last couple of games is less centralised and less worthwhile. All guard distraction features (such as prostitutes and vigilantes have been replaced by 'rioters', however I never found a use for these as there's no one that you need to distract. Your presence will constantly go high, and bribing heralds and such will only buy you a short while before something causes another mass chase, and like the last few games, hiding spots are mostly useless once you're detected, so you just have to start killing or running.
    The ship missions are another mini game that they've tried to introduce, akin to the Assassins Defence sub-game missions, but while these are unique enough to be interesting, they're vastly underdeveloped, with most missions being completable in a couple of minutes. All the ship missions are very easy, right until you get to having to battle "man-of-war" frigates which were my only reason to ever spend money in the game, just to upgrade the weaponry of the ship.

    The history/landmark element of Assassins' Creed is pretty reduced in number 3, so aside from the main story, sense of history feels greatly diminished.

    All the Glyph/Custer puzzles and secrets from the earlier games is now gone for good, and while I enjoyed exploring the world in AC3, all sense of challenge was missing.

    The overall plot is continued quite a bit in this game, and any time spent outside the Animus is rewarded with revelations of the over-arching story. Although as before - there's no reason to exit the Animus voluntarily, so don't waste your time.

    So in conclusion, I liked AC3. I even recommend it. I just wish it felt more like an Assassin's Creed game... and had less cheap-feeling glitches.    … Expand

I'm really sad that Desmond is dead but I understood that they needed that in the story after 5 epic games they finished his story. There we're problems and some little things not very nice but people who gave a 0 rating on this game are stupid or ignorant, they can dislike the game but, have you seen all the work that ubisoft spent in this game? 3 years, 3 **** years and they made for this game the greatest thing. The animals, the fire weapons, the hidden blade as a knife, the bow (which I think it should been from the first game), climbing trees, getting into battlefield, 1,000 characters on screen, climatic changes (snow, breeze, rain, sunny days, etc), whole new combat system better than the others, enemies atack all at the same time, hunting, naval battles, and lots and lots more, even though it has it defects and I didn't like very much the ending for all the work I give it a ten and a recommendation for all to buy it. Some of that may be the reason why it was such a pain in the ass to enjoy this game, but it's not like that I know nothing of the basic fundamentals of sneak. See, the real issue here with "ASS GREED FREE" (as I like to call it sometimes) is that the main player character, throughout most of the AC franchise has never had the ability to crouch while sneaking, often being quite out in the open when he's not. I know that may not seem conspicuous when in towns, but when you involve yourself in the NorthEast Americas trudging through the wilderness, you kind of hope to sneak whilst having every enemy notice you. Anyhow, let's start with the story. I played fragments of this game here and there (despite beating it whole), but I'm pretty sure that even if I got to play the game without missing out on particular story elements, it wouldn't help with my overall disinterest in it. Not to mention that a game that is set during the peak of the American Revolution may scream "Interesting", but somehow, it doesn't. WE get a pretty stale template of a main character both in and out of the Animus, the inner being the still snarky and whiny Desmond Miles, and the outer being Connor Kenway, a American-Indian who seems to hold a pretty dismissive opinion about pretty much everything going on around him, about his Father's plea to make truce with the Templars, the stakes of the American Revolution, about his own villages misfortune of being pushed aside for the war, all of it just seems to nod off his shoulder as "meh". The combat and HUD is confused and convoluted, often do you have to go through the entire motion of killing the same guy if you happen to need to counter another or get hit, and some enemies are near impossible to counter at all unless you just exploit Smoke Bombs or Rope Darts, and since the enemies share a universal stealth detection, once one notices you, they all do. The ability to climb trees apart from buildings assumes that the spaceity of the wilderness is more varied, but it merely comes down to copy and pasted trees that are usually force-made to be parkoured across from. The lack of hiding places apart from their always signature hay stacks is also quite abhorrent, not to mention sort of messing with the context of a particular area too. Crafting and Supplies is also confusing, as to how you are able to find the workers you need or the correct side quests to start such, evidently winding down to getting more "Pounds" to upgrade your ship and arm yourself and pretty much nothing more. The only silver lining behind this small disaster is the Ship sections themselves, as you are excitingly pitted against ships as you can almost feel like a pirate (but that, my friends, will be left for the AC 4 Review).     Great game, Connor isn't Ezio but still he's a very appealing character, I haven't beat the game yet because I'm doing all the secondary missions which are also very entertaining. The difficulty of the game has improved because previous assassin's games were rather easy.

It feels like a very short story, making it feel shorter is the fact it takes a long time for Connor's story to kick in, not until sequence 3 do you actually meet him. Connor is a boring character to say the least, he cant seem to take a joke and is just downright serious all the time.
    The main storyline is misleading, you start Connors story being led to believe that you are playing a huge part in the liberation of America from the British, when you actually find yourself pretty much using the main characters to protect the land your natives live on. Don't get me wrong, there is a lot of focus on freeing America, but there isnt enough! Connor was made out to be a pivotal character, but he turns out to be a character that others look past.
    Another issue I have with AC3 is that the beautiful, vast open world isn't used to its full potential in main story missions, you'll often find yourself in the cities stalking an enemy trying not to be seen. Far too monotonous by AC's previous standards. There is plenty more to the maps than that, the lush green countrysides are almost totally ignored which I think is ridiculous, since its so vast and theres so much to do there. The naval missions however are a nice touch to the game, no matter how frustrating they are, I always seem to get a kick out of downing an enemy warship.
    The desmond side of the story has been taken too far, and without spoiling too much, the ending is the worst I've seen in the series; An awful wannabe cliffhanger with too many questions to be asked.
    Its a shame, AC3 had so much potential to be game of the year, I can only hope that whatever lies instore next year is more thrilling, and true to life than its 2012 predecessor, with all the necessary fixes included!    … Expand

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. el ac3 a evolucionado graficamente nada mas, desde mi punto de vista an ido en todos los aspectos un paso mas atras: 1º con la Interfaz tan liosa y menos practica q e visto en los assassins, q para seleccionar armas esta bastant mal hecho, siendo mas ergonomico como en el revelations, 2º querian meter algo como el reino de AC1 pero q tuviera mas material jugable, y lo han consegido sin embargo este acaba repitiendose matando siempre a los mismos animales, y el mayor problema esq tenemos el viaje rapido, es decir, que la frontera esta totalment desperdiciada, solo sirve para cosas secundarias y unas cuantas misiones principales pero no mas, 3º Para mi el guion mas flojo hasta el momento, al menos el final de Desmond, la parte de Connor me gusto la verdad, diferente y tal, pero aqi se nota ya una cosa que hace mucho daño al juego y son los objetivos secundarios, siempre nos dicen como hay que hacerlo y si no lo hacemos como nos dicen esta mal hecho, es cierto q puedes hacerlo como quieras, pero a todo gamer le gusta hacerlo bien, y tu frustracion cuando quieres matar a un tio de una forma y para acerlo bien t dicen q tienes q acerlo saltando yo q se, y si lo qieres acer a tu manera pues es tan simple como meterte en medio de los tios y con el sistema de combos tan sencillo los matas a todos en un periqete 4º Al menos yo, no me he dado cuenta de cuando pasaba el tiempo es decir, en ac2 y en la hermandad te dabas cuenta de los años que habian pasado x q lo tenian quizas unos cuantos segundos mas o nose x q, qiero decir q ni me e dado cuenta d elos años q pasan durante el juego, q bien podria habe pasado a partir de la secuencia 6 todo en un año. 5º En el juego vas a ciegas completamente al menos ese a sido mi caso, no me explican ni como e entrado al club de caza, ni donde esta la cabaña q me e pasado el juego y aun no la e encontrado la cabaña de los cazadores xdxd, o como reclutar asesinos, tampoco te dicen en q momento puedes reclutar y q tienes q acer, tampoco t dicen como ir a otro lugares del mapa para enviar tus asesinos a otros estados, los lugares para esconderte ya ni aparecen en el mapa al = q los carteles, x q yo siempre qitaba antes los carteles antes de pagar heraldos, pero ahora resulta q ay heraldos x todos lados y da = lo malo q seas q t pillas 2 cerca y se acabo notoriedad 6º Tcnicamente esta muy bien el juego, nuevas animaciones de todo y demas, pero los graficos la verdad, nose tienen algo raro, no me acaban de convencer, es acercar la camara a cualqier personaje y muy baja resolucion todo, esq ni siqiera t aparece la cicatriz en la cara de Connor 7º Y el error que para mi es mas garrafal es la jugabilidad, ya se ya se, mucho me diran ahora pero q dices si ahora esta mejor q antes o algo asi, pero la verdad, todo sea dicho, empece a jugar al assassins creed x q iva a ser el sucesor de prince of persia, es decir iva a ser algo como un prince of persia sandbox, y eso a todos nos llamo la atencion y mucho, y lo hemos visto en los AC hasta el momento como necesitabamos dar a los botones para trepar, saltar de lado, etc, pero con el AC3 se ha perdido todo eso, esq ni siquiera tienes el riesgo de caerte de un arbol, 8º Las armas, teniendo hojass ocultas y lo q mas hemos usado seguramente han sido otras armas, como el tomahawk, o las espadas, ( al menos yo) ya q si usaba las hojas ocultas para el combate se hacia pesado y lo mas rapido para terminarlo era teniendo una buena espada, o casi siempre vamos matando a enemigos con el tomahawk y apenas usamos la hoja oculta en determinadas ocasiones, que para mi esto es como perder valor en la saga, al = q al final del juego se qede sin capuxa, nos qedamos con un juego q matamos con hachas y espadas y no usamos la hoja oculta para nada, q x cierto durante todo el juego solo e realizado contadas veces asesinatos dobles con las hojas ( os animo para q conteis cuantas veces aveis consegido un asesinato doble) y al = q otras muxas cosas mas que al menos para mi han pasado completamente desapercibido como el asesinato en carrera, o el rope dart que solo lo use una vez 9º Falta de cohesion con las demas entregas, aun no enteindo q sentido tiene la saga de verdad, aqui os dejo mi dudas( ya las puse en otro lado) -Minerva contacta con Desmond para q salve el mundo ya q le qeda poco tiempo (3 meses en la actualidad) / en el AC3 Minerva le dice a Desmond que prefiere destruir la Tierra antes de darsela a Juno, y que ya no hay salvacion que han tenido siglos y decadas para solucionarlo, pero tonces yo me pregunto, que sentido tiene contactar con desmond a traves de Ezio si luego sabes q no le va a dar tiempo a salvar la Tierra?¿… Expand

    This game has some problems. Like all the Creed games, the story moves in a very disconnected, disjointed way. Out of nowhere characters appear and then, are never heard from again. And when we move back to Desmond's time, all we get is minor interactions and little missions once again. The ending left a million things desired, and I would put this ending in the "Mass Effect Endings" category, because of it's lack of any closure. Once again, it seems like Assassins Creed will continue; Ubisoft is not done milking this franchise.

    In terms of combat, it feels great. Definitely the best part of this game, and the killing/counter attacks feel brutal and it is very fun. They did a good job improving the free running system, but there have been many times where I accidentally run up a wall when I had no intention. The enemy A.I. in this game.....is by far the most frustrating thing. It seems like they never fixed the A.I. or even tried. Enemies at time are mentally challenged, seeing me sneak on a ship surrounded by water, but let me go once I hide like nothing happened, and then at other times, they are 100 percent omniscient, and see me from every single angle. Also, how is it that enemy A.I. in every single Creed game have the same exact acrobatic skills as I, a master assassin does? The same exact animations are used for guards when they chase you. So they, (much like all the prominent characters shown in the story), can run as fast if not faster than you and have the same exact amount of acrobatic skill, scaling rooftops like it's just another day.

    Overall, the combat and the amount of things to do are the most fun things in this game. However, this game suffers because of frustrating A.I., disjointed story that left much to be desired, and game halting glitches (getting stuck in the map screen for example). I wish I could say that the combat alone is enough to get this, but hold on to your money and get it when it's cheap.    … Expand

Plot is kinda weak and weird. Personally, i like Haytham better than Connor. Connor is an idealist, some of his principles sound simple and naive. I think this game could be better if it adds moreawesome game. very entertaining. the combat system is exciting. Not much of assassinations anymore, just hit a group of soldiers and run. i am not particularly satisfied with the story though. Plot is kinda weak and weird.     I got AC3 on the lunch day oct 31 and from that day i am lost in great immersion that this game creates. I was absolutely blown away with graphics and i think that scenes at the ships are some of the most gorgeous scenes i ever seen in the video games. AC3 truly brings next-gen experience to current gen. One more thing that is great about AC3 are the sessions. The cities are not just big, they are also so diverse and i literally took 2 hours of my game just walking the streets and admiring the view. Combat is also great in the AC3. I really liked combat in previous games but this is just mind blowing. Connor has more weapons then ever including rope dart, bow and arrow (my favorite) and the tomahawk. You would think that stealth would be put on this side with all of this combat technics but you would be wrong. Stealth is better than ever. They included moivng haystack and frontier gives us ability to hide in the bushes. There is few minor AI bugs but nothing game breaking how some other people were saying. AC3 is a great game that i was waiting a long time ago and it definetely delivers everything and more that i was expecting. Because of that i can forgive few graphical glitches and bugs. It is really a great game and as i said it makes such a immersion that you can literally get lost in that if you are not too care-full. 9/10… Expand

Why then is AC3 such a disappointment? It starts out very very slow, and while i get the idea of it it never quite plays out the way it's suppose to by the end. There's also a secret M. Nights style twist around sequence 3, which never really worked for me cause the characterization changes drastically from that point just to make it work. There are a lot of Father and Son themes throughout AC3 but it feel like it ends up getting glossed over instead of being the forefront theme that they intended it. The gameplay is pretty good but the end sequence really showed that the free-running they developed is not meant for on foot chasing, as Connor can't even slide over a few boxes just 2 feet above the ground, and he tends to run on the worst path possible. The good thing is that it looks great, sounds great, has a lot to do and is generally fun to play. The story though is all over the place, I never really felt like an assassin as my motivations were constantly in flux. My favorite part of the game were the sea battles, which made me wish it was a pirate game and not an AC game. There's also issues with finding all of the missions as not all of them pop up unless you get close to them, which is inconsistant with the ones that do pop up when you buy a map or sync from a high place. Finally Desmond who is the "main" character pretty much gets the shaft in this game just like all the others, and really who gives a crap about all that since they've done a terrible job of making you care over the course of 5 games. Overall it can be an enjoyable game but be prepared to curse at it over the course of playing though it.… Expand

    The Assassin’s Creed formula of fighting and parkour is starting to get old, even with the ability to climb trees now. Maybe it’s the repetitiveness of the series, or maybe it’s just less interesting to toss crates of tea into the harbour than to hunt and kill corrupt bishops.

Assassin's Creed III is the biggest and most ambitious Assassin's Creed title yet, but a few missteps leaves it short of being the series' best. In spite of my excessive nitpicking, Assassin's Creed III is great game and a must-have for any Assassin's fan.

    A great continuation of the Assassin's Creed series because of the strong visuals, gameplay and story. Though it must be said that the story gets somewhat boring towards the end, which leaves a sour taste.
