Xiaolin Showdown has the elements of a good game, but the execution is so sloppy and shallow that it ends up falling flat.
  2. Whoever, wherever, whatever you are, there is absolutely zero reason to own this atrocious excuse for a video game.
  3. This simplistic brawler's condescending attitude and one-note gameplay make it worth dodging.

The presentation is passable, but the gameplay itself is an exercise in pure tedium. The pervasive sense of overwhelming boredom is what really kills it, since a competitive, group-oriented game should ideally be the exact opposite of digital Ambien.
  5. Xiaolin Showdown is a bad game, plain and simple. In a genre where speed and chaos is an important part of gameplay, Xiaolin Showdown’s fights are out and outright tedious.

Xiaolin Showdown has the elements of a good game, but the execution is so sloppy that it ends up falling flat. [Jan. 2007, p.88]

There's just no depth to Xaolin Showdown whatsoever. [Issue #150, p.89]
  8. With such soulless and unplayable mechanics slapped onto an idea that was mediocre at best and marketed to kids via a familiar(ish) licence this represents not only the worst game I've played in a long long time but the most gut wrenchingly cynical example of all that's wrong with the games industry today.

This is a farce of a game and "Super Smash Bros" has already done the cartoon, co-op, beat-'em-up with infinitely more flair and class, nine long years ago. [Mar 2007, p.111]

Basically this is a hugely simplified, pointless and weird version of "Power Stone." So get that instead. [Feb 2007, p.78]
  11. The gameplay is fundamentally broken, the presentation is average at best and there is never a challenge; in fact, I don't think I've ever played an easier game.
