A perfectly playable game. Unlike X6. The game has a terrible voice over, but the story is... passable. The graphics are alright, nothing special though. The gameplay was boring, but not unplayable. That's it.

Capcoms fun plat former and classic series do a fine job on giving fans what they wanted, while it isn't as good as some of the previous games it does it well. Still, is best setting off with a decent but fun Mega Man. Expand

While Mega Man X7 is constantly slated for it's blandness, the game itself isn't that bad, if you haven't played any other mega man X game before this one, then your first few hours with it will be incredibly infuriating, however once you get used to it, it's not so bad, saving reploids and powering up abilities is a lot of fun, however the main character Mega Man X isn't playable untilWhile Mega Man X7 is constantly slated for it's blandness, the game itself isn't that bad, if you haven't played any other mega man X game before this one, then your first few hours with it will be incredibly infuriating, however once you get used to it, it's not so bad, saving reploids and powering up abilities is a lot of fun, however the main character Mega Man X isn't playable until half way through the game, which might possibly be because he's rubbish to play as in my opinion, Zero is better but the fact that he's a melee fighter with a short-range weapon makes Axl much safer and more fun to play, the final levels can be incredibly infuriating, especially the infamous boss fight with Red, which I was on for a day and a half, embarrassing I know, but it was difficult, the final boss isn't as difficult as the fight with Red is, but anyway that's Mega Man X7, better than X6 but worse than X5.

Other than the stylish cel-shaded visuals, there's hardly anything new here... Seriously, I haven't seen camera problems this bad since the early days of PS1. [Nov 2003, p.138]

If the controls were tighter and the targeting system sharpened up, Mega Man X7 could have been a killer update. As-is, the game is a lethargic has-been.
  3. The 2D gameplay hits some bright spots but is hampered by the new, boring 3D sections. There isn't much to keep you playing other than to relive a shred of Mega Man gameplay in 3D.
