This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. After 3 weeks of play, it is certainly the best yugioh card game on steam or other platforms.
But i think at this time we are at the point how every player knows the meta of the game and all of my enemies switchs in the gold rank between Eldlich or drytron. It fiels like 1 of 3 players use this decks. There must to get weakend quickly and fully, beacause its real unfair to play against this kind of control and a lot of players makes the copy and paste after the game.

U only have a hand full of decks they allow to play on a higher rank and thats makes thounsands of card useless. Iam not a pro gamer but i play yugioh for a long time and started with legacy of the duellist to play the new format of link cards.

I think there have to start a quick update to fix up the meta domination. Maybe a switch between tcg and ocg helps here.

But for normal player i think the game is after a few weeks a little bit boring, because u are set on your ranked and the solo campaign are to short to find more experience against strong deck types.

The most guys play ranked games online a u be forced to switch your deck typ to a high meta type if u reach the gold ranked. Here it is just as difficult to descend back to the silver rank as to a higher gold rank. But konami can be happy for a while, because i switch to drytron and do not deinstall Master Duell.

The game is solid, fun, and the format is finally fair (Idk how much is gonna last do), but Konami is giving almost no support to this game, there are almost no tournaments, no interesting new things etc.
I'm gonna say making decks and opening box is rewarding and its really not pay to win.
Also the game is very luck based being a best of 1 with no side deck, players hate this and Konami

Also its just not that interesting to play the OCG meta of 1 years ago because that is what the Master Duel format always is, they need to support the current TCG and OCG more instead of making more and more alternative formats that nobody likes. There are free simulators which are better than Master Duel, keep that in mind.

First of all, I really enjoyed this game. It is beautiful, have single player mode and ranked duels. I also liked the card crafting, this avoids you to spend a lot of gems to get a single card.

However the data transfer between accounts is too confusing. There's a warning on main screen before start the tutorial, but it is difficult to a user to find the data transfer button at first

Once you start the tutorial there is no way to use your progress from another platform. Even you contact the Konami support they will send a generic response for everyone saying they can't (or don't want to) help.

A lot of people are having this same problem but Konami doesn't care. The support say they can delete your user data from your Steam account, but you won't be able to play anymore on that account.

I've been a fan of Yu-Gi-Oh for as long as I can remember. And while not perfect, Master Duel is fine. Any deck, if the player behind it is a good pilot, can climb the ranked ladder into Diamond. It also takes luck but we don't talk about that part. Just some broad points from playing the game for a year:

It also takes luck but we don't talk about that part. Just some broad points from playing the game for a year:

1.) For a game that's purely a multiplayer online battle simulator, the economy in Master Duel is above other popular online multiplayer games. 2.) Being a best of one format leads to more degenerate strategies like stun, obsessive amounts of flood gates, entries strategies dedicated to infinite negates, and ftks, that lead to some games being just plain unfun to play.

3.) The solo gates in my opinion do a fairly good job of not only teaching players all 6 of the summoning gimmicks, but also give players a insight to a number of different archetypes in solo mode so they can get an idea of what deck they would want to make in the game proper.

4.) I do wish there was more prominent modes besides ranked, the occasional festival, and maybe solo (if you squint hard enough.) Even with casual, team battles, and duel rooms, they either don't do anything to flaunt or show those modes off, or the only real enjoyment you can get is with friends.

5.) I wish there was more of an incentive to push in ranked. With the same rank up rewards you find in Bronze also being the rewards in Diamond, I feel like asides for bragging rights, Konami doesn't currently offer enough to sit down and grind on Master Duel.

Overall, like I started with earlier, this game is fine. There's things that I both like and dislike in this game. Hopefully in the future, Komoney can fix the flaws present in Master Duel to have it reach a new level of standards.

Yu-Gi-Oh! Master Duel is an awesome game that Yu-Gi-Oh! fans, both new and old would love. I honestly would've probably given this a lower score, but they just added the option decks from YGOProDeck directly to the game. This just fixes one of the major issues of the game and warrants it a better rating. All in all, fantastic looking graphics, and it plays well. What else can you really ask from a card game?

Without going around it too much, Yu-Gi-Oh! Master Duel is, to date, the definitive game dedicated to the collectible card game. Aside from some elements that will turn up your nose a little, such as the limit of only twenty decks, it provides players with all the tools necessary to explore and play Yu-Gi-Oh in the best way, all enriched by excellent animations and original elements, such as the lore of the archetypes, very appreciated. The future success of the game will depend exclusively on the update frequency that Konami will decide to adopt, but for how they are behaving today, we can only be satisfied.

Konami managed to make the best Yu-gi-oh adaptation to this day that will bring many surprises to both old and new players because this game isn’t the same one we used to play 15-20 years ago. The learning curve is huge and it requires a lot of time to learn all the decks currently available, so be ready for a lot of grinds.
