"Yes, your grace" wants to simulate your life as the ruler of a fantasy realm. It comes with a decent presentation and a slightly cumbersome control scheme, some light resource management and daily duties in form of a growing line of peasants and nobles with requests for said resources for different reasons. Granting or denying those requests results in somewhat predictable consequences, and the main difficulty is guessing how important the request is. Guessing, as opposed to planning or thinking, because you don't know what else is waiting for you that day.

It won't take you too long to figure out that requests mostly come in pairs, and you have to get lucky guessing if the one still waiting in line is more important. At the end of the day you might also need money or food to repair and upgrade your kingdom, so while it's already difficult to leave everyone happy, you have to save some of your riches for long-term investments.

On top of that you take over at a time where your king has already been at it for more than a decade, and you will have to deal with the really bad decisions he made long before you took over.

If you are interested in the kingdom management part, you might be a little underwhelmed, and you don't really get to see any of the growth you managed or the riches you accumulate or the stuff that you build except in a very basic daily overview.

While all of this already presents a challenge, one of your regent's really bad ideas was having three children, and not having staff to raise and entertain them. That's what you are going to do during the second half of every day, and you should really enjoy soap-style whining and drama to get through that (there's also a wife). And for some reason you can't go all medieval on them and tell them that heads are going to roll if they don't behave, so you are going to moderate and soothe and negotiate and find yourself once more guessing what the outcome of whatever you choose may be. I desperately tried to get rid of all of them, but this part of the kingdom management comes with a lot of video game logic. You already lack actual control, and even if you think you made a clear decision it can easily result in the opposite.

So if you buy this for some sims-style life-management, you might find yourself underwhelmed yet again.

The experience as a whole is a little too much gambling and not enough gaming. While the writing itself is ok and the plot passable, it was all a little too random for my taste, and it's too obviously set up to make you fail. Even if you don't, there is no real sense of accomplishment. It's still entertaining enough, but there are better alternatives out there.

Je m'étais très attaché à l'une de mes filles qui était douce, pleine d'innocence et rigolote, mais je n'ai pas réussi à la sauver elle non plus…

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Expand

Like Reigns, but more broadly and with more emphasis on the main story. The story is not fean either.

It could have been much better. Especially in the events that happened and we decided, I expected better.

Took me 5 hours to fully complete the game, about a single day, but if you can get it for $5 like I did I think it was very worth it. Maybe not something I will remember forever, but a good use of 5 hours.

It's a decent pixel art story-strong point & click, however other than few interesting moments it mostly offers a story which can be played in two ways and once you recognize that it deteriorates on its value. Also the game can be very easy if you get a little hang of it, little mistakes don't matter and big ones can be seen from mile away. Overall, it's a pretty mediocre game.

A simple pixelart game with a story that could be envied by many big RPGs. [Issue#302]

As a fan of character-driven stories and making choices in games, Yes, Your Grace stood out as one of the best I’d played in a long time — even after the credits rolled, I still felt regret over some decisions and joy for others. The creators did a fantastic job weaving their interconnected stories together and deliver more emotion and intrigue than most triple-A studios manage. I’ll be thinking about this one for a long time to come.

Yes, Your Grace is a deeply moving and thought-provoking kingdom-management simulator with a brilliant storyline.
