Actually, this game disappointed me. I read lots of reviews saying this is some kind of masterpiece. But, sadly, i didnt find out why. Management in the game is kinda poor and boring. Plot didnt make me interested at all, at some point i was that bored that i just turned off the game and deleted it...

Maybe, this is just not my genre, but im not sure if the problem was actually in point&click setting.
First of all, i was really annoyed by localization on other languages. Its either you play on english, or you get mixed up dialogues, wrong numbers in choices etc.
Secondly, its usually the case when you see lots of people came up, they are telling you their story, and you must choose either you help them or not. But, there is no option "wait, until i speak with other guests"! How do i understand can i help this person with my general, if i dont know will anyone else need him?
Finally, i totally didnt understand how economy in this game works. Somehow i was thrown to bankruptcy without actually doing anything. I was helping people with their problems, assisted merchants in their "start-ups" and anyways couldnt get positive number of gold without not paying to my general. Last thing caused situation, when i couldnt help peasants with their requests, and that came up with extremely low income which i even hadnt opportunity to fix.
And that is not a problem, actually. If the game would be really that fascinating, i would start it again. But i didnt, just because two hours before it were kinda wasted. Sorry.

A masterpiece of indiedev, best game I was playing in the pool of that genre. Some decisions left me conflicted, sad, angry or stupid, hard to look away because game keeps you tense for a big chunk of time.

Wow, this game is wonderful, I have never had that much emotions while playing a game, definitely made my day, taking decisions without bein sure of if it will pay off, you have to be you and think about how YOU would handle this situation, it makes you feel angry, it makes you feel happy, it makes you feel guilty, just WOW

I like the stories within the game. It looks a real kingdom, where your choices matter. It's a simple game, but the plot is very well written. I'm enjoying Yes, Your Grace!

"Yes, your grace" wants to simulate your life as the ruler of a fantasy realm. It comes with a decent presentation and a slightly cumbersome control scheme, some light resource management and daily duties in form of a growing line of peasants and nobles with requests for said resources for different reasons. Granting or denying those requests results in somewhat predictable consequences,"Yes, your grace" wants to simulate your life as the ruler of a fantasy realm. It comes with a decent presentation and a slightly cumbersome control scheme, some light resource management and daily duties in form of a growing line of peasants and nobles with requests for said resources for different reasons. Granting or denying those requests results in somewhat predictable consequences, and the main difficulty is guessing how important the request is. Guessing, as opposed to planning or thinking, because you don't know what else is waiting for you that day.

It won't take you too long to figure out that requests mostly come in pairs, and you have to get lucky guessing if the one still waiting in line is more important. At the end of the day you might also need money or food to repair and upgrade your kingdom, so while it's already difficult to leave everyone happy, you have to save some of your riches for long-term investments.

On top of that you take over at a time where your king has already been at it for more than a decade, and you will have to deal with the really bad decisions he made long before you took over.

If you are interested in the kingdom management part, you might be a little underwhelmed, and you don't really get to see any of the growth you managed or the riches you accumulate or the stuff that you build except in a very basic daily overview.

While all of this already presents a challenge, one of your regent's really bad ideas was having three children, and not having staff to raise and entertain them. That's what you are going to do during the second half of every day, and you should really enjoy soap-style whining and drama to get through that (there's also a wife). And for some reason you can't go all medieval on them and tell them that heads are going to roll if they don't behave, so you are going to moderate and soothe and negotiate and find yourself once more guessing what the outcome of whatever you choose may be. I desperately tried to get rid of all of them, but this part of the kingdom management comes with a lot of video game logic. You already lack actual control, and even if you think you made a clear decision it can easily result in the opposite.

So if you buy this for some sims-style life-management, you might find yourself underwhelmed yet again.

The experience as a whole is a little too much gambling and not enough gaming. While the writing itself is ok and the plot passable, it was all a little too random for my taste, and it's too obviously set up to make you fail. Even if you don't, there is no real sense of accomplishment. It's still entertaining enough, but there are better alternatives out there.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Expand

A visual novel, so, as is usual in this genre, the claims about how you can make these choices with huge consequences are mostly not true, as the story is more or less linear with crucial points that will be reached / happen regardless of what choices you make.

A visual novel, so, as is usual in this genre, the claims about how you can make these choices with huge consequences are mostly not true, as the story is more or less linear with crucial points that will be reached / happen regardless of what choices you make.

The art style is okay, it's pixel art and it's decent, but there are pixel art games with way better quality. Considering this is a visual novel with a very restricted set of locations, I'd expect more effort to be put into them.

Sound is okay, music is great, but the score is a bit limited, which is a shame.

Controls are clunky, and there is a double-clicking bug that happens sometimes.

The "kingdom manager" side of the game is as simplistic as it is unbalanced (for example, building a huge tavern costs less than what one single peasant requested as help with his one single field, and rejecting him has huge impact on the happiness of the whole kingdom - etc.). Honestly, is feels like playing your average maths textbook, where your average person on average trip to a shop buys 175 watermelons and 571 balloons - basically devoid of any logic and completely torn from reality. It feels like the devs made an actually working management system, but it was not quite reaching the point where it would force you to make some tough decisions, so they turned up the prices and punishments by about 5-10 times and then didn't playtest it. I'm all for making a management system where you just can't tick all the boxes, but there has to be some logic behind it, and the choices you make have to be informed and with realistic consequences. The system in this game is just arbitrary values stacked up to f-ck you over with no logical reason what so ever. Furthermore, there are bugs in it - or at least I hope these are bugs and not intentional, because that would make it even worse - you receive a complaint from peasants about a man doing some stupid stuff, you call him to court, you tell him to stop, he stops, and the peasants hate you for it. Because you did what they asked for. What the f-ck?

The story is okay, it's not quite up there with the best in the genre, but it's also not outright bad. It has some interesting parts, some less so, some twists which you can see from a mile away, and it suffers from the common issue of visual novels - the badly hidden linearity, where you generally have 2-3 choices of how to proceed which lead to pretty much the same outcome. Sometimes, the characters seem supremely stupid because of this, because you see a completely different way to go about it, but you cannot, because despite the lofty claims of non-linear story and choices that matter, the path is - sometimes clearly, sometimes not - laid out. For example, out of your control, your character makes some promises. When time comes to go ahead with what was promised, the only way is to be a backstabbing a-hole, the only limited choices you have is what resources you will focus on in your quest to not have to be true to your word. There's no choice to just go through with it. There's no choice to try and negotiate and perhaps get into a better position that way. Nah, the writer decided you do X, so you do X.

There's nothing wrong with a linear or semi-linear story. There is everything wrong with claiming it's non-linear with a plethora of impactful choices with far reaching consequences. It's simply not true in case of this game.

Anyways, it's a damn shame, especially the borked kingdom management part, which makes the game damn near unplayable, unless you long for elementary school mathematics with some shady casino RNG thrown into the mix. The visual novel sphere is dominated by weeb stuff, this game could be distinct just by not being one of those, instead it's just a frustrating mess.

Herkese hitap etmeyebilir ancak pixel grafikler gerçekten çok hoşuma gitti benim. Atmosferin içine güzel bir şekilde çekti. Took me 5 hours to fully complete the game, about a single day, but if you can get it for $5 like I did I think it was very worth it. Maybe not something I will remember forever, but a good use of 5 hours.

It's a decent pixel art story-strong point & click, however other than few interesting moments it mostly offers a story which can be played in two ways and once you recognize that it deteriorates on its value. Also the game can be very easy if you get a little hang of it, little mistakes don't matter and big ones can be seen from mile away. Overall, it's a pretty mediocre game.

As a fan of character-driven stories and making choices in games, Yes, Your Grace stood out as one of the best I’d played in a long time — even after the credits rolled, I still felt regret over some decisions and joy for others. The creators did a fantastic job weaving their interconnected stories together and deliver more emotion and intrigue than most triple-A studios manage. I’ll be thinking about this one for a long time to come.
