    Fantastic Co-OP Zombie Shooter, and a 3rd person shooter at that! Very unusual in western markets! Its super engaging with great level up mechanics and randomized factors on each level. I strongly recommend this game for fans of zombie shooters or even 3rd person shooters in general.

    Great game if you want to be used as an alpha tester. Used to love this game, now I'd rather play L4D than play this piece of crap. Avoid this game like the plague!

I also don't like zombie topic usually, but I accidentally tried Dying Light and it was very interesting experience. So, I decided to give a try with World War Z (it was free anyway), and after some time lying on my account...

    IT IS JUST F*CKING amazing! But to be clear, don't expect that it is a 100% beautiful game, no, it is basic, uses a lot of old things, but they found a formula of combination of class development, stealth, usual shooter and a super tower defense things with a gun in your hands. It just works, you just sit again and again and play it with other random people or internet.
    If you start feeling boring, just raise the difficulty :)

    Anyway, if you are not the huge fan of Left 4 Dead (many negative reviews just try to compare different games because they have zombies and guns), then give it a try    … Expand

    the game is quite awesome; it has really solid good gunplay (besides the bullet moving pass targets that are too close because of where you put the weapon and that you can NEVER aim through the sight in a straight line). the sounds, feel, look, etc. of the weapons are solid and good. the zombies are well done, really cool technic to how to make masses    i made an account just for this:

    teamplay is the same, a little worse, than all other of these games, mostly due to how inventory works (which i always disliked in these)

    where the game completely fails and why i give it a 1 / 10, is that the devs have used an excessive amount of coding time ensuring that the AI bots will do EVERYTHING! to fck you over and help the zombies.
    so base code is
    "follow you shoot zombies the player can see;" ok its **** ai but it is better than nothing.
    "then ignore zombies in players back 90% of the time" ehh what? so i constantly get hit in the back even if i got 3 bots standing RIGHT behind me shooting in my direction?? you use TIME and Energy on coding in that the ai need to be **** and not help the player?
    "then never kill specials that attack player from behind ONLY react to them after 3-4 seconds" this is so absurd, so you can have special wonder through the npc's as if nothing happens jump your back 3 ai looking straight at it just WAITING for you to take dmg before reacting".
    "then the worst; WHENEVER! a player is aiming from a secure position stand in front of the player with your head in the sight, IF player move sideways recheck position and stand in front of the sight with your head; stand in front around 5 meters so players can't shoot the zombies, all bullets are soaked up by bot and zombies run around bot directly at the player after the AI has blocked all bullet for them...
    THIS! happens CONSTANTLY!!! and THIS is why it gets a low score!! playing any harder difficulty with just 2+bots become basically impossible as the bots ACTIVELY!!! tries to help the zombies kill you".
    why would you use so much extra code on trying to just fck up the player?

    why would you not use it on making AI actually use packages put on ground, actually carry stuff there is found, actually being AI bots that did anything usefull, instead you coded them SPECIFICALLY! to fck up the player... which is completely unaccceptable and honestly it removes all positive from your game...

    seriously you can't even disable the bots so you can just play it with 2 people....
    so you are forced to deal with their constant betrayel and consistantly attempt of getting you killed...
    ....

    its just so utter **** i am baffled anyone that isnt a drooling braindead moron! would ever code such **** knowingly...
    if it is some fcked up attempt at making people be forced to play with others its really fcking moronic and we are not dealing with that **** morons from just trying to kill others to people who should never be on such difficulty, to all kind of harassers etc.. seriously not worth the fcking agro and also i dont want to play with random people i want to have fun with a friend or two when it fits US!

The characters in the game look quite interesting. The game has 4 levels, like Episode, and each episode has several levels. What’s fascinating is that you play different countries in each Episode. Voice - characters actors do a great job, for example: the episode is for Russia, so you play for other characters, and they will have that Russian accent. In the game, you play with four characters as the team can play with bots or friends, much like Left 4 Dead. The game's soundtrack isn't very appealing to the action, at least for me. But what I didn’t really like is that the levels in the game don’t have a checkpoint, if you die you start the whole level all over again, which makes me very angry. Bots don’t really help, they just help you shoot zombies, nothing else, and you have to do everything yourself to build guard things and so on. The game feels boring, the levels have such objectives, and you need to complete it and the game has its own formula for how to kill and defend against zombie hordes. This is very boring !. If you beat the level you get game money, where you can buy some guns upgrades and skills, and you need grinding the game, and you get XP for guns and skills, then you can buy more things, this is **** !. Also, the game is gore cool.

    So the game isn’t that bad, it has both good and bad things. You have beautiful level architecture. The gameplay itself is quickly boring and annoying. I just hoped the game would have a story game, like during the movie, but I’m not saying it’s bad. Maybe they didn’t have that much budget to make a perfect game, or they directly tried to do something like Left 4 Dead, but with the movie idea. I would rate this game 7/10.    … Expand

    Got this for free on the epic store and gave it a shot for 8h or so. I maxed out a class, played the "campaingn missions" then a couple of weeklies / daylies and yeah ... uninstalled it.
    What i liked: Graphics, length of missions, scale of zombie attacks, class variety.

    Non è un'idea orrenda, andare in giro per il mondo a sterminare colonie di zombi. Peccato per l'estrema ripetitività del gameplay, che viene un pochino attutita dalla possibilità di giocare in co-op. Il multiplayer funziona, ma non lasci a chissà che impressione di alcun tipo.

Básicamente lo mismo que Left 4 Dead, con las hordas de la peli de Brad Pitt. Si te gusta Left 4 Dead o estás buscando algo para desconectar,Juego con el mismo planteamiento de hordas zombies y para juego en cooperativo que lo inventado por la saga Left 4 Dead, pero que aparte de lo espectacular de las hordas de la película, es inferior, por lo general, a los juegos en los que se basa. Game company is such an idiot to refuse to earn more profits by most populated platform like STEAM. It's now so clear why their points are low. The creative aspect of it is NOT well developed: the characters are forgettable and the story is just as weak. HOWEVER It's late game you will realise, THIS is a good PROGRESSION OF L4D. The skills work, the maps are well made and I found it not only    (just short of 8/10)

However I feel a need to mention that heavy weapons which are special weapons that can be found on the map and don't regain ammo like normal weapons do and also are incredibly effective against the horde are actually pretty nice to use. The progression system is good too. It doesn't bring anything to the table but it doesn't force you into grinding either. It's just pretty basic. The classes are a good shot at adding replayability to the game. Unfortunately to me playing the same 5 different maps feels a little tedious. It's a shame that they didn't add diffrent variants of chapters or made different scripted events like PD2 or L4D had. This would've helped massively. But the class system is a pretty good alternative which is also adding another layer of progression into the game. Characters have different backgrounds and most of them are plausible. There are a few rotten apples tho. But only in terms of backstory because I personally think all the voice actors did a great job. At last map design. The map design is very good. The team behind levels knew what they were doing and it really shows. Each map has different sections which never feel the same. Every holdout section is different and masterfully crafted. The settings are for the most part pretty unique and like holdout scenarios diffrent from each other. It's a blast to play it for first time and a ton of even after you've already experienced what you were supposed to.… Expand

But otherwise the game looks OK, if not a bit dated. The dialogue is kind of annoying, constantly reinforcing objectives I need to do and unfunny banter. Also the sound design of weapons feels a bit weak.Not too interesting. The levels feel really cramped and the gameplay feels repetitive and sluggish. I admit it's kind of cool to see hordes of zombies pilling on top of each other. But otherwise the game looks OK, if not a bit dated. Sometimes, the NPC companions even block your sight and you accidentally shoot your companion. The graphics are decent. Weapons as well. The class system is a little bit odd. The class skills seem kind of arbitrary often and I have difficulties finding the right play styles for the skill trees that I select. Something doesn't add up there. It becomes even more of a concern considering how difficult the game is to beat when you don't get perfect multiplayer companions. In solo, you will loose. In multiplayer on easy mode, you will still need decent player companions to survive a round - not speaking of horde mode which doesn't have an easy mode. All in all, it's simply too difficult for the given skill tree options that don't grant you many benefits. I would have hoped for more options to max out your class and their special skills. Another point I dislike is the lack of ultra wide support. Lastly, the stories are fine given the genre and WWZ lore (having read the book). It's difficult to follow though when you're supposed to listen to your characters and companions while hordes of zombies run at you. But there isn't much of a story to discover overall, which limits replayability to minor extensions in the skill tree and predicting the crowd AI (which is difficult). Shooting, shooting, and shooting just don't provide what I need to replay the missions. In conclusion, I had hoped for more but I also want to give credit for the engine work and crowd AI, which seems novel for a zombie shooter.… Expand

Almost the same with classes. once you get to lv 30 you half to pay 7500 coins to "Prestige". in call of duty you get it for free, why not here? And even if you do prestige the rewards are not even worth it. I guess its something to buy with you worthless coins. Even if you do pay with real money, What is there to buy?? nothing, almost NOTHING. Small weapon skins and pointless backpack blings. Difficulty is terrible as well. Hard is too easy and insane is Way to insane. I guess it depends on your teammates IQ whether you win or not. Why cant they just scale the amount of zombies and not the amount of damage and special zombies that come out. BTW I HATE THE SPECIAL ZOMBIES.     Anyways, back to the things that don't make sense to me.
    --For example, it would make sense for a chance to get infected when a zombie hits you, but why does explosive damage have a chance to infect you? Like if I accidentally hit myself with a payload rifle, it can infect me. That doesn't make any sense to me. And it seems like explosive damage, for whatever reason, actually has a pretty high chance to infect. Or maybe I'm just unlucky that way? But who knows...
    --Also, when a bull is charging at you, why is it able to loop around corners and then grip you even though it is CLEARLY running straight into a wall? It would make sense for the bull to be able to change direction a bit while charging, but not do some magic-loop around a corner somehow...
    --The same goes for lurkers as well. Why are they able to fly around while they are clearly leaping in one direction? Like if you are running around, in a direction as if you are forming a rainbow, why are the lurkers able to change directions in MID LEAP as well? And I've actually tested this out to see if the lurkers are actually predicting where I would be at the time they leap...It turns out that is not the case. They are actually somehow flying around in mid leap. Either that, or they have some INSANELY huge hit boxes...
    --Also, screamers seem to spawn in places that are just simply unreachable. Not to say that they can't be shot, but they will spawn in places that just don't seem possible for us, as players, to kill them. For example, in the second map of the Moscow campaign, Key to the City, during that first swarm attack when the team is looking for the radio key, some screamer will always spawn literally in the back room to the side and there is no way for us to kill it. Because of this, the swarm will overwhelm us, no matter what (Unless you are playing on easy difficulty I suppose). And this happens about 8/10 times. It is extremely frustrating and that is why I REFUSE to play on that map anymore.
    --Zombies also seem to have some interesting HUGE hit boxes. I could be at least a whole meter away from a zombie and it will either swing its left or right arm, and take a huge chunk of my health. And it's not even like they are running at me WHILE swinging, bringing them into range at the last second. It's quite literally like they are standing still, takes a swing, and somehow reaches me from a whole car lengths away. This doesn't always happen of course, but when it does, it is one of the most confusing things to me about this game.
    --When you press tab, you can see people's inventory except for their medical kits. Why is that?
    --When you go to melee a bull from behind, sometimes the damage it is inflicting on the person they are pummeling will hit you as well. That doesn't make sense.
    --The bots are actually pretty dumb sometimes. You could be pinned by a lurker right next to them and they take at least 2-3 seconds to even glance at you and free you from the lurker.

    Other than that, the game is not terrible, it could really use a lot more updates such as more campaigns though. The things that are frustrating can make it feel absolutely terrible sometimes. Some fixes have already been made into the game, which is great. I just hope more fixes will be made soon.    … Expand

    Was fun, but since its latest update it crashes at launch. Since there is a character length let me add that I have uninstalled/reinstalled and wiped and reinstalled the graphics drivers. Nice job guys

    The real successor to the Left for Dead series, World War Z hits the fun notes, massive hordes of Zombies and a lot of mindless pew pew. The game attempts to inject the same teamwork like L4D, and it does so credibly. Though like any game, the hardcore gamers can solo the game. A great game and a fun romp. Just don't think too deep into the simple mechanics.

Not encountered a challenge that I was remotely close to being able to complete, but Horder mode is the real star anyway. Waves of increasingly taxing zombies, equipment that wears out, and a shop where you can replace it. Except this is where the whole thing falls apart. A key (and bloody irritating mechanic in the game) is a rapid countdown timer. You can't do anything instantly - reload, change weapons, or pick up new ones. They all have a 1 or 2 second timer to prevent you being able to just do what you want to do in the midst of an attack. Bad enough when it comes to picking up a new weapon, but when the same timer is used on the ingame horde mode shop, it becomes infuriating - not for the time delay, but because the "Open shop" button is also the purchase item button. So you're waiting for the poxy timer to go down and trying to judge so that you don't.... accidentally... buy.... NO DAMN IT, I bought another bloody electric kit.
    Whoever came up with and signed off on this mechanic should be fired IMMEDIATELY. It totally ruins what is otherwise an EXCELLENT mode in a pretty decent game.
    At NO POINT do I want to have to battle a game's interface, and even less so when I have limited time, limited resources, and a single wrong purchase can cost me hours of effort.
    I'd give the game 3 points more if that single mechanic was fixed..    … Expand

    That 1 Zombie? Can down you. A bug can take you out of the game entirely. This will not be fixed. Why you ask? It's one of the ways it feigns difficulty. The game is difficult at higher levels, don't get me wrong. What I'm talking about are those little things that they do intentionally to make the game seem harder than it should be.

    This IS a serious issue, because of 1 reason. The hordes are enough. Maybe not on the lower levels when you're experienced. On Insane , and Extreme though? It's just a bug that ruins the game entirely. Can and will down you in 2-3 hits while being a cars distance or more away?

    Sometimes it tries TO hard and just spawns a creeper directly on top of you, ready to attack. Not near you. Not even enough time for it to make its noises. You check all your corners, get where you're going, turn around to head back, and it's sitting right outside the door you just came through a second earlier. Why? To make it seem harder, and to punish you for going for that med kit.

Le location sono tutte molto precise, anche se alcuni elementi sono ripetuti un po' troppo spesso e si finisce per impararne le caratteristiche (ad esempio se un furgone contiene oggetti, se può essere aperto o se è semplicemente scenico).

    Gli zombie sono identici a Left 4 Dead, ovvero oltre ai nemici base ne sono presenti alcuni "speciali" e più difficili da sconfiggere. Anche questi zombie speciali sono gli stessi. Gli unici assenti rispetto a L4D sono il Tank e la Witch, ma si possono ritenere sostituiti dalle orde di zombie, che sono esageratamente grandi e a tratti anche buffe (gli zombie arrivano come un fiume in piena lanciandosi dai palazzi).
    Proprio per contrastare queste orde sono presenti nel gioco delle armi fisse, come mitragliatrici e mortai, che sono un'aggiunta interessante ma che personalmente non mi convince appieno.

    Le differenze principali da Left 4 Dead, e che personalmente mi piacciono molto, sono la visuale in terza persona (di cui sono un grande fan) e il sistema a classi. Quest'ultimo è ben sviluppato in quanto ogni classe (che prescinde dal personaggio selezionato) ha caratteristiche precise che si sviluppano ancora di più utilizzandolo e quindi facendolo salire di livello. Allo stesso modo salgono di livello anche le armi e questo permette di acquistarne modifiche.

    Per concludere posso dire che non è un gioco originale e se sotto certi aspetti è meglio rispetto a Left 4 Dead è solo perchè è uscito diversi anni dopo e parte da una base consolidata che non ha necessitato di molto studio. Ottenuto gratis sull'Epic Store però merita di essere giocato con gli amici, che magari non sono in possesso del titolo Valve.

    Ahora entiendo por qué lo estuvieron dando gratis. Bien mediocre y olvidable.

    this game is completely unplayable. gamewise its good, graphics is good but it 100% relies on coop and there are no controls for it. voip causes 2 second freezes, theres no kicking or reporting trolls, 80% of the community is incompetent. matchmaking have no skill controls

    WoW! Cool game! I got it free from epic store! It's basically a 3rd person clone of l4d2 but it does have it's own original stuff too!
    I love how the zombies scream like in the movie, really makes you feel like a rush is coming!
    It's nice for something new, I played a lot of Left for Dead!

    The crosshair isn't centered in the middle of the screen and hasn't been since release, (get a ruler) any real true gamer would see this... And it's bothersome, the developers refused to fix the offset. 2/10, I gave it a 2 because the gameplay is great, the game is otherwise garbage and terrible with the aiming

It's the same exact concept, you get swarmed by loads of zombies and work together with 3 other people. You also pickup more powerful weapons as you traverse the environments as you do in LFD2.     Glitched and grinding game and a waste of your time. The reward of completing on higher difficulties does not scale enough and the game play is too simple and repetitive. They have tried to extend the duration of the game by making it harder and make it a grinding game. In 2019 this is simply cheap game development.

The only problem is that it doesn't really work. even the gun leveling loses its luster very quickly as you'll find only a few even worth using. What's the point of having more guns if they aren't all that viable on higher difficulties? Private lobbies were dropped to fanfare a couple months ago but why was that not a starting feature? There are just too many problems with this particular video game that out weigh any decent fun you can have. It did, however, make me reinstall left 4 dead and I've been enjoying that with my friends since. I wouldn't buy this game if given the chance to take it back, I gave it a chance and while I wouldn't say it was worthless, it wasn't a game I wanted to keep playing.… Expand

    Pros:
    - A good L4D2 copy. If you like that game, you might enjoy this one as well, as it is pretty much a simplified version of it.
    - The 3rd person, shoulder camera works very well in this game, as it would in many zombie games, since it gives a better range of view for the character.
    - When the game works, it's great! The flow is awesome, there's no distractions and I get fully immersed in the tactics and positioning during the zombie sieges.

    Cons:
    - Hitboxes are very broken. Once a zombie starts swinging, there's no running away, you're getting hit. If you get charged by a Bull (see *Charger*), unless you're a sizable distance away, he's gonna clip you into his grasp. Same with Lurkers (see *Hunter*).
    - The Screamers (pretty much spawners) are sometimes placed in ridiculous, nearly unreachable areas, and they don't stop spawning zombies until they die. But to kill them, you have to fight through a horde of zombies. But the horde doesn't stop spawning because of the Screamer. And you have to reload your weapons. See where this is going?
    - Speaking of Screamers, sometimes, for whatever reason, if you decide to be stealthy, sometimes the Screamers spawn in ALREADY SCREAMING, meaning your stealth is just out the window.
    - Some weapons don't have weapon trees. During the game you're allowed to upgrade your weapons using earned currency, and some weapons just don't have those trees, making them nearly useless to use during your game.
    - Coming back to the weapon trees, some "top tier" upgrades don't do anything. As a matter of fact, that's a lie, they do do something. They remove your silencer from the previous upgrades. But having the silencer on doesn't change anything, except allow you to play silently, which is a plus. So what's the point of removing it then, you may ask? Great question, I'd like to know that too.
    - Just like weapons, you have different classes, which you may also upgrade, using the same currency you used to upgrade your weapons. Sounds cool, right? Well, not really. Some class branches are nearly useless (for example, if you are offered a switch to claymores that set a small area on fire when they're triggered, a significant increase in the damage of your Molotov cocktails or a 10% damage buff for all Machine Guns you pick up, which one would you choose?), and some classes that you get to pick from are almost full copies of themselves.
    - The game is pretty short, with only 4 episodes and 3 chapters in each episode. That's 12 maps total, that you get to play on. I hope the dev team expands the amount of playable maps (hopefully for free), as L4D2 expanded during its lifespan (again, for free).
    - Being a lobby leader does nothing except increase your ping. You can't kick players that just linger, you can't make somebody else a leader, you can't force start the game. You are a leader of nothing, a puppet that does nothing but wears a golden crown of nothingness.
    - There's bugs in the game that sometimes make it impossible to progress forward, so you just have to die and restart (looking at you, Greengold...)
    - There's also bugs that sometimes randomly down or kill you, by either spawning a bunch of zombies out of nowhere right on top of you or placing a claymore on top of you, that blows up instantly.
    - If you wish to get rewarded for playing a match, you should either win or lose. If you just quit, you get nothing, as your progress doesn't get saved.
    - There is a multiplayer in the game, but I'm honestly yet to see anyone on there. It maybe a problem with me in particular, so I'm not gonna write it off as a useless feature, but I have my doubts.

    Overall, if at least some of the cons get fixed (and it's very easy to fix some of them), you'd have a very good game. As of right now, I'd only suggest playing through all the campaigns once, and then be done with the game, as there's nothing more it can offer.    … Expand

    Trying to start a game with less than 3 other friends is a chore because you will mostly get matched with someone who's already in a mission and you are either forced to join into that mission or you have to leave and try it with another campain.
    It is so frustrating that it often makes me ragequit before I even got to play the game.

    It's so frustrating that this is my only reason I give this game only a 6/10 because private lobbies or at least the option to turn off "Join already ongoing missions" or something.    … Expand

The graphics are really weird with animations being clunky and very disruptive for the tense and engaging atmosphere games of this type would normally try to provide.

    Very few players are present in the various regions making match-making tedious but also hinting at the low retention rate (or high return/refund percentage?) this game can boast. At its current state the game would be fair at a 4,99€ bargain bin but not now.    … Expand

    Loved the co-op campaign. Really satisfied my zombie killing needs haha. Definitely suggest buying it. Great game for a good price if you like that kind of style. (It almost reminded me of left 4 dead).

    I'm gonna give it a 7/10 because I'm not a big fan of the multiplayer option.

    This is straight rip-off from left 4 dead. Same zombies same stupid AI same almost same special zombies. The onliest thing is that it has improved graphics. If you like these kind of games i suggest play the original game, left 4 dead 2.

    The guns are nice but too op. Like left 4 dead you can almost not die by the default zombied. Really not worth the price tag.

    World War Z is a genuine fun and entertaining Left 4 Dead clone that does add a bit of its own stuff to a mix in the old formula. The only issue is that bugs, glitches, and poor connectivity are can be annoying, but hopefully, that will be sorted.

    All in all, World War Z is a pretty fun experience. It’s one that definitely surprised me, as the developers in my opinion didn’t put their best foot forward with the trailers. It still may not appeal to people who weren’t fans of the movie, but if you’re a fan of zombie games, especially co-op experiences like Left 4 Dead, it’s a solid experience at a relatively cheap price for the amount of gameplay and replay value you’re getting. Just make sure you’re playing with friends, as playing with randoms is often as bad as playing with the single player AI.
