    Solid Co-Op Zombie Shooter. It takes the tried and true Left 4 Dead formula, evolves it a bit and gives it a more serious tone. I do miss the more campy tone of the L4D games, but the more serious tone does work fine here.

    The core gameplay is very similar to L4D, but with a few interesting new systems and mechanics. For one, there is a class system, and your class is not tied to a    Solid Co-Op Zombie Shooter. It takes the tried and true Left 4 Dead formula, evolves it a bit and gives it a more serious tone. I do miss the more campy tone of the L4D games, but the more serious tone does work fine here.

    The core gameplay is very similar to L4D, but with a few interesting new systems and mechanics. For one, there is a class system, and your class is not tied to a specific character, so you can always play the class you prefer. There is also a solid progression system, for both your class and your weapons of choice. This gives extra incentive to play and helps the replayability. It also adds in some simple mechanics for the horde defense sections, where you can build fences, traps, mortars, turrets and machine gun emplacements.

    The amount of zombies they throw at you is simply astonishing, and the novelty of it helps give the game a distinct feel.

    Overall, it might not be a genre defining experience yet, but at release it's already a legit competitor for the rest of the genre and I anticipate it being a success. It's only $35, so if you like L4D, it's worth a buy. Valve can't count to 3, but this is a worthy substitute.    … Expand

    This is a great game, really fun gameplay at a discount price. I am afraid it will be buried under the 'epic store is garbage!!11!' crowd. But please ignore them, you will be doing yourself a disservice if you miss this one. I buy games on UPLAY and origin and battle.net and STEAM. Yeah it is kind of a bummer we can't have it on steam but if you miss or dismiss or just straight up reviewThis is a great game, really fun gameplay at a discount price. Huge crowds of zombies that were in the film, a large list of weapons, 4 different locations: New York, Moscow, Jerusalem and Tokyo. There are real mistakes, but where we are, a world without mistakes, they alwaysNot a bad game, I thought it would be worse than L4D. But it turned out that the game was good.     First time on metacritic. Played all game through and love it! I don't personally understand on negative reviews, some of them just because of EGS or because it's not like L4D, and so? Nice characters, PVE gameplay, well-designed levels.

    I can't disagree with people who compare this game with L4D series, and it`s quite nice for me. I like the L4D character personalization better, but WWZ offers perks, classes, enjoyable defense tactics, much more guns and gun mods. And much much much much more zombies. Looking forward to more DLC content.

    This is the best coop game since LFD!!! Play with your friends on at least 4 stars difficulty for true experience! huge maps, great challenge (on 4 stars), supportive narrative, beautiful characters, deep and useful progression and upgrades system, massive replayability, best gunfire experience ever, millions of zombies

    So I want to do an honest review. First of all, I have played about 20 hours so far. I have found only one bug so far. It occurred when I failed a mission right as I passed it. The game went into you failed screen but the audio playing as if I had passed. This seems like it would be a very rare thing to encounter.

    The graphics are decent and the game is well optimized. I was getting great FPS 140+ with Ultra settings and in 2500x1440 I have a 1080ti That being said it should work well with most newer cards.

    The game itself is fun and better with friends. It is still fun solo but as with most A.I. sidekicks, they don't always do the right thing. They don't do any part of the missions. They shoot a zombie and revive you as needed. The game has great difficulty settings and is very challenging. The game definitely needs more content. Currently, the game has 4 different areas with 3 missions per area. You can increase the difficulty for more playability. However, in the end, it needs more missions. I think the dev's will add some more content as time goes by. Think Payday 2.

    Final thoughts. The game is not a 10. but it is also not a 0. To me, it is a strong 7 to a low 8. I am not sure what rating system some people use to give it a 0 or a 10. If you were interested enough to pay for the game it is not a 0. If you cannot get it to work on your PC. Give your PC a 0 not the game because the game is fine.    … Expand

    Definitely not what you can expect from a movie based video game. The is clearly a good one, not perfect, but still delivers great gaming experience and is really closest as possible to the high octane zombies sequences from the movie. The game turns as a massive update on the Left 4 Dead franchise with more action, more places, characters and a lot more zombies of course to feet to theDefinitely not what you can expect from a movie based video game.     AI is dumb, especially the bots playing with you. Cannot rely on them at all. They often block your sight and get shot immediatly.

    Overall it's a bit less casual than L4D2 because of the progression (maybe a bit more like Payday). The game is enjoyable and I highly recommend it.    … Expand

    Cant understand all that 0 reviews so far. that game is insane! i think the most ppl dont play on very hard and with friends - this degree of difficulty and higher are a pain in the a.. . and u cant play it without a 4 player mate team. its way better and harder than l4d2. the gameplay and hub is stolen from Division 1/2 but its ok.

TONS of replay-ability!!! This isn't a new L4D and this has its own unique spin on the zombie world. People who rate this 0 are giving the game 0 chance.     This game is pretty good. It's looks like L4D but better. PvE levels are awesome, PvP, as for me, badly balanced. I hope that this game will have few patches and DLCs with new content and better PvP modes.

    The game leaves only positive emotions. The picture is visually pleasant, the game has no lags and freezes, game characters move naturally, easily and pleasantly.

    Of the minuses is a small amount of Pve missions, but there are difficulties so that you can play for weeks.

    I hope the developers will actively support the game by releasing external skins for real money and free add-ons.

But on higher levels it'll be not enough, you'll need pumped perks, weapons (yes, there is a progression system), wisely chosen classed in your 4-player team (yes, there are several different classes with different gameplay styles which should be combined in your squad) and you need to play as a Team to beat all enemies or you'll die very quick. So replayability is very high and if you are tired of PvE Co-op - just try PvP (hope devs will add battle royal mode eventually).… Expand

    Giving it a 10 to counter the Steam trolls review bombing the game. It probably deserves an 8 in my opinion. Great game so far and a blast in coop. Great graphics and truly impressive hordes. It feels like a natural evolution of the Left 4 Dead series with XP and progression. I love how using the guns you like leads to upgrades for those very guns which tailors the game to your playstyle.

    the core of the game is a solid hoard zombie shooter that i can sit back and play for hours. too bad it was released on the epic store. Can see it was heavily inspired by l4d but the melee is sub par and can be polished a little better. would not recommend buying at full price otherwise a solid game.

    This game seems like L4D, only more epic and exiting. I have a good time in the game with friends, It's really fun. I hope at an early date devs will add more maps and will develop this project.

    Where do i start..I came into this game with 0 expectations.
    I was blown away with the hundreds of zombies rushing at you and your squad, it can go very very wrong if you don't pay attention while defending, so call outs and pings are important.
    This game delivers very well, the graphics are amazing, the gore system is well done, classes make it repayable and the weapons feel punchy.    Where do i start..I came into this game with 0 expectations.
    I was blown away with the hundreds of zombies rushing at you and your squad, it can go very very wrong if you don't pay attention while defending, so call outs and pings are important.

    This game delivers very well, the graphics are amazing, the gore system is well done, classes make it repayable and the weapons feel punchy.
    Every matched played feels different sometimes its quiet, sometimes its very hectic, so don't worry about it being repetitive!

    BUT there are a few things that needs to be done:
    - More special zombies needed. (there are only 4 unique zombies)
    - Skins for characters and weapons would be nice.
    - The story feels short and quick, more acts maybe?
    - They should make it so you can drop med kits so medics can have them. (more health for both players with skill unlocked)
    - Leveling weapons is strange, you could save up 1000 credits and have max weapon upgrade, grinding for weapon levels feels too easy.
    - A better pinging system would work well, right now it only highlights the item but doesn't say what it is, they could improve it by have text over it for those's squads that don't use mic.
    Ping warnings for incoming hordes.
    Ping defence locations, where to stand in preparations for standoffs.

    Overall i'm impressed and hope the devs update it with more maps, weapons, skins etc
    This game is more enjoyable with friends, and on hard + difficulty.    … Expand

    The comparison is unavoidable, as it's clearly a direct reference and shares the same structure, but I'm honestly liking it more than Left 4 Dead.

There are plenty of players as it is crossplay between consoles and PC. I don't recommend PvP as it is pretty imbalance but still offer a good laugh as you see campers getting eaten alive by the horde.

    WoW! Cool game! I got it free from epic store! It's basically a 3rd person clone of l4d2 but it does have it's own original stuff too!
    I love how the zombies scream like in the movie, really makes you feel like a rush is coming!
    It's nice for something new, I played a lot of Left for Dead!
    Thanks epic for this cool freebie hopefully see you guys online so we can coop! :D

Thanks for free to play, but you дерьмовая game, не способна справиться с наплывом неадекватных долбоёбов и постоянно зависает в поиске игры, когда party is full. Или просто какая-то мразь не может push THE **** BUTTON READY. А так в целом геймплей достоин легендарных кооп игр, вот только твои сопартийцы в виде ботов даже аптечку не способны юзать, я уже не говорю про большинство рандомных игроков. Я вот правда никогда более тупых тиммейтов ни в одной игре не встречал. Ни в одной сука. А это просто сборище дибилов на дибилах. Но игра хорошая.… Expand

    Overall, the game is feels great with the hordes of zombies, especially when playing with friends. Although there aren't many campaigns, there is replay-value that always brings new situations for you to adapt to.

    Anyways, back to the things that don't make sense to me.
    --For example, it would make sense for a chance to get infected when a zombie hits you, but why does explosive damage have a chance to infect you? Like if I accidentally hit myself with a payload rifle, it can infect me. That doesn't make any sense to me. And it seems like explosive damage, for whatever reason, actually has a pretty high chance to infect. Or maybe I'm just unlucky that way? But who knows...
    --Also, when a bull is charging at you, why is it able to loop around corners and then grip you even though it is CLEARLY running straight into a wall? It would make sense for the bull to be able to change direction a bit while charging, but not do some magic-loop around a corner somehow...
    --The same goes for lurkers as well. Why are they able to fly around while they are clearly leaping in one direction? Like if you are running around, in a direction as if you are forming a rainbow, why are the lurkers able to change directions in MID LEAP as well? And I've actually tested this out to see if the lurkers are actually predicting where I would be at the time they leap...It turns out that is not the case. They are actually somehow flying around in mid leap. Either that, or they have some INSANELY huge hit boxes...
    --Also, screamers seem to spawn in places that are just simply unreachable. Not to say that they can't be shot, but they will spawn in places that just don't seem possible for us, as players, to kill them. For example, in the second map of the Moscow campaign, Key to the City, during that first swarm attack when the team is looking for the radio key, some screamer will always spawn literally in the back room to the side and there is no way for us to kill it. Because of this, the swarm will overwhelm us, no matter what (Unless you are playing on easy difficulty I suppose). And this happens about 8/10 times. It is extremely frustrating and that is why I REFUSE to play on that map anymore.
    --Zombies also seem to have some interesting HUGE hit boxes. I could be at least a whole meter away from a zombie and it will either swing its left or right arm, and take a huge chunk of my health. And it's not even like they are running at me WHILE swinging, bringing them into range at the last second. It's quite literally like they are standing still, takes a swing, and somehow reaches me from a whole car lengths away. This doesn't always happen of course, but when it does, it is one of the most confusing things to me about this game.
    --When you press tab, you can see people's inventory except for their medical kits. Why is that?
    --When you go to melee a bull from behind, sometimes the damage it is inflicting on the person they are pummeling will hit you as well. That doesn't make sense.
    --The bots are actually pretty dumb sometimes. You could be pinned by a lurker right next to them and they take at least 2-3 seconds to even glance at you and free you from the lurker.

    Other than that, the game is not terrible, it could really use a lot more updates such as more campaigns though. The things that are frustrating can make it feel absolutely terrible sometimes. Some fixes have already been made into the game, which is great. I just hope more fixes will be made soon.    … Expand

    World war z is a wild game in a good sense of the word.Board a good coop game,I did not play.Everything is here for a good time.Multiplayer top guns a lot.The graphics and music of course harcout,but it's not peshay enjoy the game.In General I advise everyone!

    Ok, let's start this is a very well balanced game with good optimization on PC episodes are somewhat short but very fun the other online games need some work.

    The Zombies are super smart, and the amount of zombies is crazy as well as the variety of different types of zombies is excellent.

    Only thing I don't like is the fact that is that it's on the Epic games store and not steam.

    That's about it think of this game as like a Left 4 dead 3 basically if you liked the left 4 dead series you will love this game as I do 9/10    … Expand

    Great Co-Op zombie shooter it's the closest thing to left 4 dead 2,
    overall i really recommend this game if you are into zombie shooters, the game has online co-op campaign but you can also play the campaign offline, the multiplayer is quite intresting there are alot of different game modes.

    Then I got the game but could not play it because of the black bars on my ultrawide monitor. As I waited for a few days for the devs to fix it, I decided to look into the disassembled code of the game, and I made a mod to enable ultrawide support.
    So I got into it. The game was more like The Division than Left 4 Dead - in its the third-person perspective, the detailed, vast and gorgeous levels, and the object interactions. But it does not need to be compared to anything. It's a unique game primarily because of the horde mechanic, where - as you probably know already - hundreds of moving zombies constantly appear on your screen, climb over each other, forming live ladders, or just jumping from above you.
    The amount of things you have to kill makes it super fun, and the killing itself feels enjoyable - in part because of the impact your shots have on the zombies and in part because of the variety of weapons that you get. There's many characters to play as, each having a very detailed look and a backstory to discover. The game never lets you rest, and even the skippable preparations involve placing turrets, refilling ammo and more. The PVP mode isn't bad either, as the zombie hordes invade your classic 4v4 team deathmatch or capture point matches and spice up the experience.    … Expand

    The real successor to the Left for Dead series, World War Z hits the fun notes, massive hordes of Zombies and a lot of mindless pew pew. The game attempts to inject the same teamwork like L4D, and it does so credibly. Though like any game, the hardcore gamers can solo the game. A great game and a fun romp. Just don't think too deep into the simple mechanics.

    IT IS JUST F*CKING amazing! But to be clear, don't expect that it is a 100% beautiful game, no, it is basic, uses a lot of old things, but they found a formula of combination of class development, stealth, usual shooter and a super tower defense things with a gun in your hands. It just works, you just sit again and again and play it with other random people or internet.
    If you start feeling boring, just raise the difficulty :)

    Anyway, if you are not the huge fan of Left 4 Dead (many negative reviews just try to compare different games because they have zombies and guns), then give it a try    … Expand

    Fantastic Co-OP Zombie Shooter, and a 3rd person shooter at that! Very unusual in western markets! Its super engaging with great level up mechanics and randomized factors on each level. I strongly recommend this game for fans of zombie shooters or even 3rd person shooters in general.

    World War Z is a genuine fun and entertaining Left 4 Dead clone that does add a bit of its own stuff to a mix in the old formula. The only issue is that bugs, glitches, and poor connectivity are can be annoying, but hopefully, that will be sorted.

    All in all, World War Z is a pretty fun experience. It’s one that definitely surprised me, as the developers in my opinion didn’t put their best foot forward with the trailers. It still may not appeal to people who weren’t fans of the movie, but if you’re a fan of zombie games, especially co-op experiences like Left 4 Dead, it’s a solid experience at a relatively cheap price for the amount of gameplay and replay value you’re getting. Just make sure you’re playing with friends, as playing with randoms is often as bad as playing with the single player AI.
