this is a good game by itself. but a truly disappointing sequel. the dark and mature mood of the original game was sacrificed for colorful streets, characters, and missions. too much comedy. the mechanics are still there, the parkour was improved and new toys were added. if you loved the first game's story and atmosphere, you most likely won't hate this one, but won't love it either.

Ubisoft somehow made their next WD game worse. i recommend completing first missions to unlock multiplayer and then uninstall this crap. The only fun I had from this game was playing online with my friend doing random stuff. 3 hours is enough to decide to not play this again.

The gameplay is good and the graphics are good. but the storyline is very blank and boring. the half the missions are so hard, that you literally have mental breakdowns while trying to finish the mission. you can play 1-2 missions a day because if i play too much i'll get so angry and get mental breakdowns. also there isn't single player multiplayer where you can just mess around. if youThe gameplay is good and the graphics are good. but the storyline is very blank and boring. the half the missions are so hard, that you literally have mental breakdowns while trying to finish the mission. you can play 1-2 missions a day because if i play too much i'll get so angry and get mental breakdowns. also there isn't single player multiplayer where you can just mess around. if you like good graphics/gameplay but love to get mental breakdowns and get so angry. get this game Expand

    This game is overrate trash.

It starts with the terrible controls and physics. You can't walk between stuff, you can't climb up/over so much stuff that you should be able to, you can't look up or down because the camera just gets blocked from moving to far, you can't exit a camera hack without aborting the current conversation/discussion that you want to listen to because

you can't exit a camera hack without aborting the current conversation/discussion that you want to listen to because they just bound everything to ESC,

the game runs much worse than GTA V while looking 6 years older,

    animations are constantly glitching up,

physics are worse than in every mobile game,

You fall and glitch through falls or get stuck in things,

the game freezes and crashes sometimes,

you constantly see the exact same people and cars next to each other like it's a world full of clones,

the police is more stupid than in GTA 3,

don't try to escape by hiding inside a large bush or behind some stuff like you could do in GTA 5 - even if nobody saw you going there, they just know where you are, run to your position and shoot you, even if there is 0% line of sight,

When you send the police to arrest someone, they usually just end up walking against a wall on their way back to the police car,

    and so much more on.

Yes the game has fun parts when it comes to the hacking or spying on others, and the story and characters are a little bit more likable then in your usual "We totally know that young people think is cool!"-Ubisoft game.

But you just can't enjoy this, because you will constantly be frustrated by Ubisoft either having no clue about good game design, programming and quality management, or simply not caring about it.

However, this is a Ubisoft open-world game which means, the world feels dead, the missions are repetitive and boring the graphics aren't the best, and there is nothing that could be called emergent gameplay. None of the simplified mechanics actually work together to create amazing moments. The controls are pretty clunky, so get used to having to reload a lot because you jumped out of cover instead of switched, or because you hacked the wrong person. The guns are bad, the cars are boring to drive, and there is little interaction with civilians. That being said it's not terrible. They try with the humor although it feels a bit heavy handed. Satirizing silicon valley and San Francisco through clever of popular stereotypes is one thing(think GTA V), but simply ripping off real life is another(Tom Cruise-esqe character, Scientology standing). Watch dogs feels like dated game design, and not the best game design at that. Not the best, nor the worst game ever. If you like Assassins Creed, Far Cry, the Crew, the first Watch Dogs then there is a chance you will like this. If, however, you find yourself always comparing games to GTA V, the Witcher 3, or MGS V you will be disappointed. Its sad to see such a major studio only making one game with different skins. Last thing, how in the world did Ubisoft manage to make car chases the most tedious thing ever? I am literally bored out of my mind as I wait for the chase to be over. Expand

It is what exactly this product is a rehash of the first. A full-fledged 1.5-stink Ubisoft engine miles away. Somehow they had to write off the disaster of the previous one. And the truth, I'm not going to throw my money in reheated trash, I have serious games to invest for and they are falling.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I think Ubisoft recycle Assassin's Creed plots and aply them on Watch Dogs. Because they're so similar (Unity x WD1, Syndicate x WD2) and for some reason worse.
They give you characters taken straight from psych ward, labile autists, transgenders, Neil Druckmann lookalike antagonist who's worse than Starrick, a black brotha that's there just to spread BLM propaganda and to die later in the game and I couldn't care less. These characters make Ray (who's in the game only to make a connection to the first game) look normal and Marcus, the protagonist, dull.
The story is so boring, it made me skip the cutscenes and hammer x the dialogues. You keep invading cringe-ass named companies' HQs and downloading their data over and over again. Every single mission is to sneak in, download, sneak out.
Marcus acts the whole game like a **** messiah and superhero who's saving the world and his friends.
You'll spend the between-mission time by driving car rocket speed that is weirdly slow across the longest bridges in a game ever and listening to classical music because other radio music is ****
There are some improvements: more options to do with hacking, more entertaining connect-wire minigame, better graphics

The graphics quality compared to the FPS cost is terrible. I can't think of a game that has a worse ratio. Maybe the first Watch Dogs game rivals it.

Isn't a sequel suppsed to take the best of the first, and improve on what didn't work?
Yeah this feels like a bland copy-paste of the first with a little bit prettier grapichs and an attepmt at a new story.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I got Watch Dogs 2 off of a free Epic Games sale cause I heard it was okay. But, after playing through the entire game, I didn't expect this abysmal garbage for a game.

First, let me start out with the pros. The city looks great! It really seems like Ubisoft actually took time with modeling San Francisco. And even though my PC is bad, I was still able to run full graphic settings. The characters look great as well. All of them very detailed and life-like. The Movie star mission was actually really fun. Although I don't understand the meaning of this mission. I really liked it. But about here is where the pros stop. Everything else about the game makes me want to shove a spoon up my butt

Cons. Let me start with the story missions. The missions are all just a copy paste. Here, I'll give you an example of all of them. There is a big tech company doing something highly illegal. So, you break into there HQ, steal data/install virus. Then you find there is a underground basement that no one knows about. After you get inside the underground basement, you escape. That's it. That is all of the mission summed up in one paragraph. Second you have the cars. While they are highly detailed, when you wreck them, which you will eventually do of course, the glass cracks. The cracked glass looks terrible. It seems that Ubisoft spent a day on the glass cracks then went straight back to city modeling. Third, the "hacking". Now I understand why Ubisoft did not implment actual hacking into there game. I do not understand why they implemented two hacking features. you can hack a person or object. Or you spend 5 mind numbingly boring minutes rotating little puzzle pieces to open a door. When ever I got to a part where it had that terrible, god-forbidden, awful puzzle part, I'd scream. It's just a lazy excuse for saying "you are hacker man". Lastly, (too make this review a lot shorter) the story. The story has no words for how bad it is. it was written by a bunch of 4 year olds in business clothes. They killed the least likeable character so they could say that it is emotional. No one liked Horatio, I can tell you that for a fact. Ubisoft did not put him in any of the side missions just in case you played them after he died. He also had no role. Marcus: main character, Josh: nerdy white guy hacker. Wrench: funny robotics guy, Sitara: the girl, Ray: Marcus's friend/introduced late. Horatio was just... there. Also, there were no stakes. You never did a mission at the risk of someone's death. The automated cut scenes are filled with glitches and are very robotic. Now let me talk about the final mission. There is nothing different. Sure you got to play as Sitara and Wrench... for ten seconds. I'd be cool if you were able to play as them after you finished the game. like, do the side missions as Sitara. or race as Wrench. But no. Then the rest of the mission follows the exact same basic guide line as before! There is no difference besides you win. The only reason why i knew it was the end was cause of the achievement I got at the end. It really did not seem like the final one to me. The ending of a game should be heartfelt, bittersweet. It should say, "We did this. We took the time, exposed the world, and saved it as well. We did this". but instead it just one of those stupid glichy commercial things.
All in all, comparing this to GTA V is like comparing Super Mario 64 with Bubsy 3D. They are both 3D platformers on the n64. But Bubsy 3D is better. Bye bye.

In the end, Watch Dogs 2 feels like an improvement over the previous game in the series. The characters are fun to play as and interact with, all of the hacking elements have a lot more depth and make more sense, and the world feels more alive and rich than ever before, design wise and graphics wise. However the game does suffer from mediocrity in regards to its shooting mechanics and stealth sections. Is it a fun game? Yeah, sure it is. Is it one of my games of the year? Not really.
