Visage definitely has a lot going for it; the atmosphere is solid, the story is really interesting, and there's an ever-present sense of tension that's not always seen in modern horror games. However, it feels like for every few things that Visage does right, it does something not so right.

In particular, the UI and controls definitely could've used more polish and testing. I played

In particular, the UI and controls definitely could've used more polish and testing. I played through the entire game, and it never really felt like I ever got used to how the inventory and menu systems work. The game explains it well enough, but in execution it gets a little messy. It's not enough to ruin the game per se, but enough to nag at you throughout it all. Furthermore, the sanity system is weirdly implemented at times; something as simple as a clock ringing out in the middle of the night will cause your sanity to go down, while climbing down a rope of intestines doesn't effect it whatsoever. While some of this can be explained by story events, other times it just feels inconsistent.

Your enjoyment of Visage will depend on how able you are to look past these flaws, as they never really go away. However, as mentioned before, the game does have some genuinely creepy elements to it, and the story goes in a wild direction that'll assure you won't forget the game anytime soon. I'd recommend it if you're a fan of atmospheric horror games, but do be warned that the game does have some noticeable bumps and hiccups here and there.

What they want to try is good, but the result is unsuccessful. I wouldn't expect simple horror material such as a deserted house, half-open doors, television sound to be found in this game. He says it's a psychological horror game, but the only part that affects psychology is random footsteps. It wasn't what I expected.

I thought overall it was a very effective and entertaining horror experience. The look and sound of the game was on point and they managed to create a truly terrifying game. That being said, the inventory system was annoying that you only have the 5 slots and to then have to awkwardly carry round two things at once in your hands. That being said, the inventory system was annoying that you only have the 5 slots and to then have to awkwardly carry round two things at once in your hands. On top of that I never even used most of the items anyway, with the main thing being the lighter to constantly allow me to see. The insanity meter was one of the most pointless things I've seen in a game, as it had little bearing on the game and after the first maybe hour of gameplay I never paid any attention to it or took the meds to lower it. I usually enjoy games with puzzles but I felt like Visage didn't have many puzzles that required much thought but instead just required that you run around the house over and over again to find the one little thing you missed to advance the game. I think this studio will do well on their next game, there were a lot of positives here in terms of presentation but the delivery on the gameplay was lacking. Hoping they step away from the PT copycat genre as well as it's been done to death now. Expand

Reminds me a lot of Layers of Fear when that arrived in early access, been waiting for this game for some time, and from all game play seen so far, has always given us a promise of a true horror experience, and we have gotten exactly that, although the game is still in early access, (day 1 ) presumably 20 hours game-play left spanning over the entire game! Any fan of horror games, do not miss this, play it and invest in the finished game. Expand

I normally don't write reviews, but Visage was different, so I felt obligated to write one

The atmosphere and the vibe generally felt dark and depressing, maybe lonely, mix that with random events happening throughout the game and the sense that everything seems normal but isn't. The game also doesn't give you much to work with at first, that's maybe a bit confusing, but the game

Visage for me is psychological horror at its finest, and something no horror fan should miss out on

Shockingly bad controls on ps5, the carrying and inventory systems are atrocious, immersion is not possible because of them. Tried for 3 hours, deleted, waste of good money (£15+)

Worst game ever, you should never play it. Boring, no plot and screamers only horror.

This is one of those hidden gems that you encounter and then ask yourself "Why haven't I heard about this game before?". If ever there was a varied and deeply unsettling horror game, this game is it. The settings and themes contained within scared the crap out of me.

And it wasn't because of cheap jump-scares (those are part of the game too though, so if you like those, you will get to change your underwear several times). This game is far more intelligent than that. It's a psychological horror game. And it will get under your skin in the most depressing ways. And while that might be a problem to some, it is exactly what I want from a horror game. It dares to go where most other games don't.

You will have to bring your a-game though, when it comes to patience - it's by design. The game progresses in very subtle ways. You will have to look and listen for the clues. And you will be awarded with some amazingly atmospheric and beautifully depressing vistas and the stories contained therein.

It's also a puzzle game. So if you are worried that it is a walking simulator, it is not. You will be walking a lot mind you. But there is always a point to it all.

    I love this game!

A must play for horror fans.
If you are a hardcore fan of horror games or just horror in general, you must play this game. Overall, as a game it is a 7/10 kind of game, but for us die hard horror fans, it's a 1000/10, by far the best horror experience I've ever had

Fajne lokacje ładna grafika i niezły klimat... dopóki nas cos z niego nie wybije.

Czasem łatwo się znudzić i poczuć zbyt bezpiecznie.
Czasem bugi nas zablokują i zmuszą do wczytania gry.
Czasem umieramy kolejny raz w dokładnie taki sam sposób jak ileś razy wcześniej.
Czasem utkniemy przez nie do końca logiczne rozwiązanie problemu popychającego dalej rozgrywkę.

What a shock, the best horror game of all time has a 3.8 rating from the brainless masses that are gamers.

Anyway, the first two chapters of this game are by far the best horror experiences you will ever have. Smart scares, decent gameplay, brilliant atmosphere. The last two chapters are a real let down. It feels like the developer ran out of money or interest. The overall story

The overall story is good, but definitely very reminiscent of Silent Hill 2 and all the other psychological horror it produced.

Instead of employing trivial jump scare tactics, Visage expertly toys with your senses and messes with your head, first causing uneasiness, and then evoking authentic fear. There’s no reason to weep for the cancelled Silent Hills anymore. We’ve got Visage, the best horror game of the year, maybe even the best in years. [13/2020, p.51]

Visage is close to being of the best horror games of recent years, but it's held back by some annoying aspects. The inventory controls are awkward, there were still a few bugs that prevented me from interacting with the environment, and the chapters are far too uneven, with the third being particularly bad. That being said, if you are prepared to work through these issues there is a lot of spooky fun to be found here and it is more than just jump scares for streamers (although there are plenty of those). With a little more polish and a better third chapter, this could have been an essential purchase. Instead, Visage is somewhat haunted by the spectre of what might have been.

Visage drapes over you like some ghastly blanket, smothering you with unsettling ambiance and high-quality scares. Though it fumbles a certain stretch of gameplay, its otherwise meticulously designed structure, head-scratching puzzles, and creative manipulation of level design more than pick up any slack.
