A good start that quickly falls off into a discombobulated mess of the story’s true purpose but is successful in constantly delivering hordes of baddies to tear apart.
-
There's no doubt that Turok can be fun, but ultimately, the feeling of satisfaction that comes with slitting a raptor's throat or pulling off a headshot with your bow is lost in the shuffle of swarming enemies, less than stellar visuals and a story that disappears.
-
The human A.I. aren't all that intelligent, but what they lack in brains they make up for in resilience.
-
Play (Poland)Well thought out, well made and generally cool game that altogether lacks any inspiration other than the original Turok. For adrenaline it relies on the masterfully directed shootouts and jungle close encounters with tons of muscle and pointy teeth. [June 2008]
-
Ultimately, Turok is the kind of game which you either like very much, or you hate and uninstall it after the first 10 minutes.
-
Turok's PC odyssey comes out damaged by some impossible to ignore flaws. Overlong loadings, bugs that may lead to crashes to the desktop and a technical field that is already behind some older PC games. The clichéd setting doesn't help either.

PC FormatEven the addition of well animated and suitably menacing dinosaurs can't save this from being a bland, forgettable FPS. [Aug 2008, p.100]
-
PC GamerTurok is a shooter that never comes close to fulfilling its potential. [Aug 2008, p.68]
-
Turok is a decent game with obvious flaws. Its first steps as a reborn franchise are decent ones, though it's difficult to recommend over so many other titles on the PC market.
-
Gamers.atThey could’ve made so much more of Turok. Some of the grave minus points were luckily eliminated during the porting from console to PC but the biggest demerits remain: Monotone graphics, linear level-layout, a loose story and an AI which I’d effortlessly be able to convince to jump into the gaping maw of a T-Rex. [Issue#14]
-
PC Zone UKIt's terribly inconsistent and feels like a shooter from the last century. [Aug 2008, p.74]
-
Dinosaurs rescue an otherwise underwhelming shooter.
-
Years ago Turok was an instant hit on game consoles. But today on PC things are different. The controls are probably the worst of all console-to-PC conversions and not editable. It's not possible to save the game freely and save points are so rare, it almost feels like the developers want you to give up. Turok fails in level design and game controls, but we've played it until the end because it tells an interesting story.
-
PC PowerPlayIt took me some time to reach the conclusion that Turok isn’t necessarily a bad game. The biggest problem is that everything Turok does, some other FPS does it bigger and better. [Aug 2008, p.63]
-
Turok is far from a revival of the series. Aside from having dinosaurs and lots of frantic fire-fights, it doesn’t offer a great deal of new stuff or even good stuff for shooter fans.
-
PC Gamer UKMediocre and dismally uninspired. [July 2008, p.88]
