I had a hard time putting this game down, can get pretty addictive. And it could literally go on forever on just one map.

The game is good (mechanics, hours to play, etc).
The main 'issue' i have with this game is, that it's not relaxing. Sometimes it feels like work with a high stress level. On medium difficulty it's hard to earn enough money for all the quests which are given.

Sometimes I would get a message saying a fire had broken out but when I looked at the map there was no obvious fire. All this in spite of having a firs station with a helicopter. So I often ended up building even more fire stations ...wasting money and still fires every 5 minutes....ARGGGGGHHHHH! Stupid annoying fires. Who ever thought that this would make a game fun? I am not a new player I have played every Tropico version but there are some really annoying bugs with Tropico 6. Another annoying feature is that the campaigne is not logical just a series of seemingly random maps that have little resemblance to one another. You can succeed very well on one map and then the next one is so different and impossible that it bears no similarity to anything before. A logical campaign that takes the player through step by step missions instead of random unrelated missions would have been welcome. HINT: delete the fires from the next version of Tropico. Superannoying. Expand

Tropico 6 unlike Tropico 3 and Tropico 4 (while having some of the charm of Caribbean culture) lacks that soul of Tropico 3 and Tropico 4 that have attracted so much in the past decade.
If we think about what would be the moto in the current Tropico games that followed the isometric old Tropico games, it could be: the promise not of another type of more complete simulation, but of an emulated interactive social integration that could bring perhaps a non-realism of a structure in which the player could venture into the tropics comically and politically. It's a problem with several games from various western franchises that moved from isometric to 3D. When we imagined in 2D and text-based we used more our skills, knowledges and creativity. At a lower resolution we were able to figure out how to venture into what the game couldn't offer visually, and sometimes this was very positive as the game designers themselves invested more in plot and dialogue to compensate. However, with the promise of 3D, the sides that we could show in these games didn't show up very well as power of involvement, immersion, flow. Tropic 3, 4 and 5 carried out this change reasonably - right there it already seemed to be the limit of this change from isometric 2D, there would be no way to expand the game much. In Tropic 6, we can sense the limit in plot weakness and auxiliary character interactions in short, repeated dialogues, which already existed in reasonably the same way in previous Tropico games. There hasn't been a huge expansion of what we'd really like to experience in Tropico - politics. I want to be more tyrant, or more hard-line or more corrupt!
With Tropic 6, the multiplayer online game could be the big change, but it wasn't enough. The online mode could keep the player for a few more hours of gameplay, but overall at around 10 hours of gameplay the average young adult player who already knows similar games tends to drop their saves.
Optmization - Low. That Unreal Engine build needs 16GB RAM and SSD to run properly.
    Accessibility - very low.
Strong suit - in Tropic 6 it's relatively easy to enable an infinite money mode and unlock more features and quickly advance the ages (including the dark Swiss Broker feature - that it is very fun -) - although this facility makes the player quickly resort to an overpower path/ god mode.

it's a great improvement over the prior game. It's not perfect but for the serious I don't really know what people are griping about.

Guerrilla attacks targeting your buildings. And after a while it just becomes tedious. And what I think should have also be added to the game is a new political system which would be a little more in depth. In my opinion they should add a legislature and to be able to hold parliamentary elections and to win the most seats for your party. That way you will be able to create a perfect democratic banana republic or a totalitarian single party dictatorship. But all in all the game si great and I recommend the game. 8 out of 10 Expand

Soundtrack and atmosphere wise, this is probably the worst one. The funny radio is gone and replaced by your sycophant lackey throwing out dad jokes ad nauseam. The soundtrack isn't as good as say in Tropico 3 and 4.

The campaign is divided into separate levels now. This has its advantages, as it teaches you the ropes as you go along and early game mistakes won't come back to haunt you in the same way as in Tropico 5 where you revisited the same island in multiple missions. But it sort of leaves the campaign missions feeling a bit flat. You'll never nurture your own little island from a crown colony to a banana republic to an authoritarian off-shore tax haven in a single mission, which is a shame.

DLC policy is pretty bad as always.

My recommendation to fans of the earlier installments is to just wait and get the whole thing at a bargain price. If you ask me, there isn't enough fresh content here to warrant paying more than 15 bucks.

More than likely we will get DLC that will readd features and buildings from the previous installments or needlessly assine features (like the Twitter of Tropico) that have no real reason for being there. I do enjoy the new options to steal landmarks, yet it feels a bit disjointed. Tropico 6 is a lesson in absurdity. As in, you can make a game with some crazy mechanics or features, but then we cross a line where it goes from fun and wacky to just absurd and boring.

So to be fair, its a really good game. Trust me on that. However I would rather go back to Tropico 5 or better yet the original Tropico....atleast then I could play as Lou Bega (see Mambo #5) trying to destroy the communists by building nightclubs.

I really love the Tropico series, but this has been a huge step down. No campaign other than random missions that have zero interaction with each other, a LOT less charm on the characters, an incredibly clunky "Research" system and outright baffling pathing makes this game not as fun as the rest. Just get 4 or 5.

It's essentially Tropico 5.5 with updated graphics, larger maps, FINALLY being able to relocate and edit the palace to somewhere more strategic and safer, more new buildings to plop including Sim City-Esque wonders which are useless and nonsensical (why would a banana republic dictatorship in the Caribbean build the Statue of Liberty or Taj Mahal?!?), and more economics and politicsIt's essentially Tropico 5.5 with updated graphics, larger maps, FINALLY being able to relocate and edit the palace to somewhere more strategic and safer, more new buildings to plop including Sim City-Esque wonders which are useless and nonsensical (why would a banana republic dictatorship in the Caribbean build the Statue of Liberty or Taj Mahal?!?), and more economics and politics options, but it's not a huge leap from 5 in the way 5 was for 4, nor have they changed or fixed issues from the last games. You still can't control and place your forces during attacks and raids. The road drawing tool has always been a frustrating problem and hasn't been fixed. You're still restricted to single lane roads with no option to build Highways, Railroads (although they added trams for some silly reason), ferries, etc. The in-game music is still the same that gets old and wearisome after long. Still no option to make your nation region-specific, like for example basing it in Asia or Africa. The humor and jokes are also old and tired. And if this game really wanted to be edgy and funny, why can't you have the option to export arms or be a drugs/nacro state?

Wait for the DLCs, mods, and patches that should hopefully address these issues. Until then, stick to Tropico 5 or wait until the price comes down.

This game has the set of features that annoy me the most in economic/management games:
    - management is flimsy and chaotic,
    - no graphs or clear data on how much you produce/export or already have (each bulding has it own counter)
    - you can't control delivery chains,
    - the builders and deliverers seem to roam randomly, rather to have their areas or priorities,
    - maps are tiny and clunky,
    - buildings have 1-way entrance,
    - road autobuild sometimes goes crazy stupid,
    - not really many different ways to develop, as resources are pre-set,
    - some perks are utterly stupid (oh wiat, they are "funny"), while some are OP-ish

Maybe OK for casual playing - the setting is still quite unique and enjoyable, but if you have any experience in this type of games, Tropico 6 might disappoint you.

And if you played previous Tropicos - don't buy it or wait until it's really cheap so the devs and publisher get their lesson.
It's the same all over again. Old broken gameplay with new layout that actually looks like from 2005.

Despite all of this griping, and all of these complaints, Tropico 6 is still sort of fun. Partly it's just watching the numbers going up. When the freighter arrives in port and your first shipment of electronics goes to market, netting you enough money to build a new stadium, it's like a little pat on the head that can be weirdly addictive. There are certainly some bugs that probably shouldn't exist on the fourth (fifth? sixth?) iteration of essentially the same game, but the special sauce that has allowed them to actually get away with making six Tropico games is still there.
