LEVEL (Czech Republic)Jan 18, 2024Trepang2 may not have hyper-realistic graphics or a gorgeous magical world, but it's an amazing load of action that can really test your shooting skills. [Issue#330]
-
Oct 3, 2023To summarize, Trepang2 is a brilliant fast-paced game filled with non-stop action and allows the players to be creative on how to kill the enemies that stand in their way. However, the story holds back the game's potential, and unfortunately, if you're looking for the horror aspect that reminds you of F.E.A.R, then Trepang2 won't quench that thirst. Still, the game is overall a solid experience for those who seek some quick thrill during their free time.

Jul 14, 2023A very pleasant surprise. It’s simple, it could even be called primitive, but it’s also perfectly crafted, a journey through blood, screams and explosions. Legends of the industry could learn a thing or two from these four Canadians.
-
Jun 19, 2023Trepang2 is an excellent ultra-violent shooter that balances intensely satisfying combat and stealth gameplay with a tight, engaging narrative full of mystery. With perfect pacing, immersive boss fights and a thought-provoking ending, it achieves everything it aims for with the precision and technique of a super soldier.
-
Jul 6, 2023Trepang Studios knew exactly what type of game they were trying to make from the start, and they more than succeeded in doing so. Despite a few technical hiccups, Trepang2 is an absolute banger from start to finish, providing exquisite gunplay and an intricate narrative. If you're looking for an adrenaline-fueled and horror-inducing shooter that keeps you on the edge of your seat, look no further because Trepang2 has got it all.
-
Jun 28, 2023Trepang2 is an absolutely brilliant experience. Combat is insanely fun and satisfying, and the story is entertaining. The price tag may be a little high as the content is thin, but the fantastic gameplay loop makes it worth the time and the money.
-
Jun 25, 2023Trepang2 offers a lot of choices in terms of customization, gameplay, and mechanics for players. While the enemy AI isn't that clever and the difficulty surrounds changing damage values more than making enemies smarter, it more than makes up for it with its memorable set pieces, gun variety, and incredibly chilling horror moments.
-
Jun 22, 2023Trepang2 is a solid first-person shooter that has plenty of FEAR vibes and will deliver hours of fun to any fan of the genre looking for challenging battles, supernatural elements, and boss fights. The game is filled with interesting tactical scenarios, tense moments, and plenty of over-the-top violence. The lore is decent and the revenge story is pretty basic, although it goes places. The graphics and sound design elevate the combat. The difficulty level can be changed if a section is too hard. Both veterans of the FPS and newcomers will have fun with Trepang2 and its impressive combat sequences.
-
Oct 25, 2023Trepang2 is a great mixture of horror and action. It may not be the most original idea of the year, but it certainly packs some of the best aspects of many famous shooter games into a cohesive and unique experience.
-
Jun 30, 2023Trepang2 is the R-rated summer blockbuster that Hollywood and Hong Kong don’t make anymore. For a back-to-basics ballistic barrage with options for slow-motion and cloaking, this is a triumphant FPS experience.
-
Jul 3, 2023Trepang2 is a solid first-person shooter designed to satisfy all your action needs, offering countless explosions, millions of bullets, and the best Bullet-time experience since F.E.A.R.
-
Jun 26, 2023Fast-paced shooter revival of the first F.E.A.R., mixed with stylish acrobatics and fantastic gunplay.
-
Jun 26, 2023Trepang2 is a delightful tribute shooter that brings the relentless yet intelligent and often creative action of games like F.E.A.R. to the modern standards of 2023.
-
Jun 26, 2023Crashing shooter strikingly reminiscent of F.E.A.R. - a fast-paced mix of quick sneaking, inventive melee combat and explosive bullet-time.
-
Jun 21, 2023If you’re a F.E.A.R. fan, Trepang2 is a game that you should definitely invest some money and time in. It’s also a game for those who simply love hardcore first-person shooters. Your considerable arsenal here is enhanced by your supernatural abilities, and with other moves up your sleeves – such as a slide that can send your foes flying and a powerful punch – you can have so much fun running rings around your enemies and dismembering them in gloriously gory fashion. This may not be F.E.A.R., but it sure as hell scratches the same itch.
-
Jun 20, 2023Trepang2 doesn’t really care about its setting and story. Instead, it just wants to give you some guns, the ability to slow down time, and just set you loose on some corrupt corporations and a shady cult. It features fantastic gunplay and some excellent enemy AI to play around with, and despite the visual clutter, you’ll quite likely find yourself having a good time.
-
Jun 19, 2023Heavily inspired by Monolith's 2005 shooter F.E.A.R, Trepang2 delivers stylish, bloody action with breath-taking visual effects and weighty, kinetic gunplay. The broader experience is let down slightly by a truncated campaign bulked out with fun, but superfluous feeling side missions.
-
Jun 19, 2023If you’re looking for a slick John Wick-style shooter to delve into, this game will be right up your street. If you’re looking for a successor to F.E.A.R, with action and horror combined in one package, it’s all here too. In the moment-to-moment action, Trepang2 pretty much delivers on all fronts. It's sheer fun, a joyous bloodbath where creativity in combat reigns supreme, and well worth a look if you’re not averse to a few scares.
-
Jun 20, 2023Trepang2 has a pretty narrow focus, but it does the bloody first-person combat genre proud. Kudos to developer Trepang for doing a few things really well and not trying to make the next Call of Duty clone. Trepang2 borrows a few ideas from F.E.A.R. and snags some mechanics from classic shooters, and the result is both fresh and familiar fun.
-
Aug 2, 2023Trepang2 is a game made according to a recipe that's more than 20 years old. Arguably, however, the FEAR formula is still relevant. The shooting is really, really satisfying, too. A pleasant surprise, for sure.
-
Jul 11, 2023Despite its smaller scale, this amazing tribute to F.E.A.R. surprised me with spectacular and devilishly satisfying combat. Trepang2 recycles assets without moderation and sometimes loses momentum, especially in sections where it focuses on its unremarkable narrative and pretends to be a horror game, but those are minor hiccups in an otherwise great FPS. Definitely worth checking out.
-
Jul 7, 2023I find it hard to believe that any fan of the FPS genre wouldn’t have a good time with Trepang2. The gameplay is tight and satisfying and the level design is first-class, making a wonderful playground in which to decimate those capitalist soldiers. There is no doubt that this is a fantastic effort by such a small team and I can’t wait to see what they have coming next.
-
Jun 22, 2023While not without flaws, some more glaring than others, Trepang2 still offer some of the most intense and visceral combat you can find in an FPS and that is more than enough to make for a solid experience.
-
Jun 19, 2023Trepang2 is not a perfect title and suffers from some problems that often afflict the productions of smaller teams that aim too high. Net of some flaws in the gameplay and a campaign that runs out too quickly, the work signed by Trepang Studios is damned fun to play, why launch yourself to the massacre of the soldiers, between the use of powers and the activation of the bullet time , is nothing short of satisfying.
-
Jun 19, 2023Trepang2 is a game with very little original ideas but with a gameplay so badass and fun that it doesn't matter if the story is banale and the mechanics are familiar. So many genres are present in this shooter and the combat si so well made that, somehow, everything works to deliver a fun shooter with a lot of replayability.

Edge MagazineJul 13, 2023Trepang2 may not know many tunes, but it truly commits to those it does. [Issue#387, p.116]
-
Jul 11, 2023If you want pure action with spectacular shootouts, then Trepang2 is here for you. Although don't expect too much. You get adrenaline and intense action with decent numbers of enemies and poor story.
-
Jun 21, 2023Quotation forthcoming.
-
Jun 21, 2023Trepang2 could have been a gem in the FPS genre, as it has an enviable combat mechanic, but the rest of the structure is mediocre. However, the foundations it lays are solid, so a potential sequel is capable of being a milestone for the genre, as was the case with its inspirator.
-
Jun 20, 2023Trepang2 does nothing to hide its true nature, which is to be a decent fps, very fun in the shooting phases, but poor in all the rest of the game package.
-
Jun 19, 2023Trepang2 misses the target on several aspects like its story or construction. Its basic but efficient gameplay succeeds more or less to "save" the game.

Jul 2, 2023I can gripe about Trepang2's tone and I can shrug at its plot and I can pout about its length but that's all fine, really. Criticisms fade when I launch it to double-check a detail then get lost bursting heads for 20 minutes before remembering I have a review to finish. I already fancy returning to check out higher difficulty levels or the many cheats and modifiers unlocked after finishing the game (ranging from 'Only Headshots Kill' to 'Squeaky Voices'), or just to shoot faces all over again. Oh, I do enjoy shooting these faces! I'm hoping new missions might follow if it does well, or even that 2005 FPS staple, an expansion pack.
