When treasure hunter Jack Jones mysteriously disappears over the Pacific Ocean his grandson Gordon inherits his business. Settling in GordonWhen treasure hunter Jack Jones mysteriously disappears over the Pacific Ocean his grandson Gordon inherits his business. Settling in Gordon encounters a guy named Dick who tells Gordon his grandfather was searching for an ancient relic before his disappearance. Help Gordon travel the world, piecing together what happened to his grandfather and ultimately discover what he was trying to find hopefully before his competitors do!

Standard fare and not that engaging Treasure Masters, Inc. (2008) lacks the ambition to make full use of its potentially interesting concept. While the idea of pursuing an ancient treasure before others do is exciting the communicated plot and uninteresting characters do little to help immerse you into their adventure. Dick is just creepy and I kept expecting him to reveal himself as the villain. Certain objects can only be found between various hidden object scenes so you have to exhaust various screens until you stumble on what you’re looking for. The game features a timed and relaxed mode along with a variety of puzzles. The idea of having a finite amount of time underwater as you can run out of oxygen is fairly unique but what lets this mediocre game down are the objects which either aren’t designed well or are too tiny that playing this HOG for any amount of time will give you eye strain. Clicking on objects sometimes doesn’t register which is annoying. You can buy hints but they’re costly for a game where the objects are sometimes tiny next to nonexistent. The ending feels rushed as well like the developers threw in something wacky as an excuse for not having to explain Jack’s disappearance.

Even with a decent length it’s hard to recommend this game. Aside from an interesting premise Treasure Masters fails to make good use of it in any way exciting.
