Ubisoft said this would be a solo game with optional pvp in their interviews, so I bought it.
What they didn't tell you are:
*best loot is found in the DZ(pvp) *the endgame is the DZ I don't get that companies do this kind of crap all the time. Making pve people forced to do the game mode that they don't want. If i want to be camp sniped when entering an area i would have bought DayZ.

It has that feel of "Make your own story" kinda game because the devs could not be bothered to write a real good one.
Despite it's good graphics, it's just an f2p game with a AAA price when you realize the small content that it has.
    I'm done with this game.

If you have played Watch Dogs, or Ghost Recon you have already tried out the gunplay/cover mechanic.. If like me, you have zero interest in pvp, and you absolutely despised the Dark Zone, and further lack of content, than this game isnt for you (us).. Theres occasional npc's to fight in DZ, always with numerous fellow agents around..

The AI is so dumb, that they will literally walk at you, stand out in the open, and pop out of cover like clock work.. To cover for this, enemies were made bullet sponges.. A dozen rounds to the head, is an easy kill.. Theres also very little variation in enemy archetypes.. Even when donning a different asthetic, they act exactly the same as others.. It makes for very bland gameplay, when the main function is too easy..

While beautiful (though severely downgraded from what was shown, also becoming the norm with AAA companies) walking the city, its barren! You will encounter occasional npcs fighting over a scrap, or ask you for water, or running in fear for their life of you for seemingly no reason.. Its like walking through "The Last of Us", only this is a shooter, and we want to shoot ****

The weapons and armor itself servers its purpose, but is very unappealing.. "Upgrades" are only so, in incremental amounts.. 2% less recoils, etc.. Since the game pretends to ground itself in realism (except when in need of excuse) that the guns, and armor arent very "oh cool, new weapon"! It will shoot exactly like the last one you had, probably look almost identical, etc.. Kneepads wont make muh difference, but you may get a puffy coat to change the look vs a hoodie?!

So-called "rpg".. this is where had issue.. Because there are 8 faces to choose from in the character creator, and theres a talent tree, it apparently classifies itself as rpg..Well.. Not in my book! Theres got to be a compelling narrative, characters, progression, customization, etc.. Theres very little of it here, with a grand total of 26 main story missions.. All replayable, but the side missions are not.. Wheres the longevity here? While playing, its hard to shake the feeling that very large chunks of the game are being with held, to be sold separately, at a later date.. Its painfully dull, and boring to play.. You are allowed 2 active abilities at any given time, which you can also augment, and switch in and out at will.. But the majority of them are, like the rest of the game, uninspired, and dull.. Deploy a Turret, is kinda neat, but another grenade? Group Heal, Riot Shield? Its like there was a QA, and the favored pcs of other games were thrown into a hodgepodge of what works over there, and show horned into a tactical shooter, so it could be labelled a rpg! If this is rpg, its shallow, at best! Theres also little to no meaningful plot decisions, character interaction (That isnt cinematic), theres no real player choice here.. As far as story, its very on rails.. I fail to see where this whole "rpg" element comes from?! I can choose 1 of 8 faces, and theres a skill tree.. Ok.. So not only will 1 in 8 people LOOK the same, everyone will also have exactly the same skills as well? Ok, so just everyone pick 2 different abilities each before this mission.. Fun! Not that youll 'need' them, since its rather straight forward combat.. Some people claim enemies attempt to flank.. What i see is more that they just move toward your general direction.. On a wide street, they may happen to flank.. Mostly though, they stick out stupidly in the open, for no real reason!

Its no wonder they wouldnt allow pre release reviews.. And i havent even gotten to all the bugs, terrible server issues, lag, texture pop ins and tearing, etc.. Even on consoles this is being reported..

Which leads me to my next point.. Uplay, is widely known to be bottom barrel software.. Having this game be online only, with this system is terrible.. There is no offline mode, for you to enjoy solo, if your internet fails, you havent paid your bills or, more likely, Uplay goes down.. Why? Hackers? The game is already riddled with them!!! Another wonderful aspect of Dark zone.. And, theres no anti cheat system to boot.. Just "file a report, take a screen shot of the offense".. WTF?!?

It was over hyped, deliberately with held until release day, bare bones, dull half implemented features.. Yet another Ubisoft let down.. I used to be the biggest AC fan i knew, and even that i can no longer support.. If i had actually paid cash for this game, i would have refunded it it! Thank goodness i went with my gut here, and kept my promise to myself never to purchase another Ubisoft product.. Or EA, Activision, Bethesda for that matter..

I too want an to scratch that itch i have, for the TPS genre, but this aint it.. Guess its back o another round of Mass Effect.. I no longer support Bioware, but i already own that trilogy atleast..

Down to its core, the game is underwhelming, very little mission variety, go from A to B and shoot clones of hooded figures, and scavenge for loot until you feel like a conveyor belt worker.

The solo play is ok, but no challenge, it's always more of the same, unless you pump it up to hard difficulty to feel like it's worth clenching your buttcheeks, but that also gets old fast. The story is..interesting, but still nothing too memorable. You're just cleaning the streets and relive the same patterns like you're the main star in Groundhog Day.

The map looks bland and quite sterile compared to the trailers in the past, i'm afraid we'll have another case of Destiny with this one.

The Dark Zone was of little interest to me, but i guess it could be a nice relief from solo grind and boring A to B incursions.

The loot system is nice and boring at the same time. It all depends on your burnout meter, if you can handle the brief grinding sessions, then more power to you!

Currently, the 60$ price does not justify the shallow content. If they add more stuff in the future, i hope it's free or at least somewhere in the range of 5 dollars, but something tells me that will not be the case.

My suggestion: wait several months or maybe an entire year, for the complete edition with all dlcs to come out, maye wait for a sale, because right now this game feels like it's bone dry.

It's another bland Ubisoft product that still has chance to prove itself. It all depends on the future content.
Not holding my breath with this one.

Empty shell of a game. Very repetitive. Graphics in the initial trailer are totally not representative of what you will find in the final build. So I don't recommend this game.

You only defend, attack or get someone/something...thats it!
This game is following the boring Watch Dogs game design.
Also this game has tons of bugs and crashes...sometimes you will get stuck in the console-ish menu's.
And if you think you can later meet great "bosses", no way! Even the boss enemies are are just the same on and on, no special abilities, no fancy design, just always the same "human" boss with no special gun.
Well okay, the only "interesting" boss is the last boss in this game.

So if you think this game is worth paying 40-60$ for just 22 hours and many grinding, go buy it...
Even diablo 3 was more fun, because it has a nice creature design, interesting bosses and items.
But the division has nothing always the same guns, same enemies, same missions, the map.
I can say, i will never ever buy a ubisoft game again, i will always wait for cheap sales, because they never worth it.
Watch Dogs has warned me, never pre-order a ubisoft game again, but it did...and here i am, warning other players wasting their money on this copy&paste game.

The Darkzone as an idea is interesting, but the mechanics are weired. The themepark currency kills off any atmosphere and right now just sitting at drop-off locations calling helicopters and killing off the spawning goons (which are no challenge whatsoever) is the most efficient way of getting said currency - with which you can buy gear to get more currency with which you buy more weapons to get more... you get the idea. But what works in lootershooters or mmos doesn't work here because there is no threat. You don't need that stuff.

I gave this game a 9 until this happened. 4 days of falling through the world, missions not starting, getting to the end up challenge modes to only get mike errors which disco you from the game, and again falling through the world. It wears on you and people should be aware that there is a complete lack of communication from the Dev team to the players. They will lightly talk about it on twitch feeds but avoid the subject. They don't respond on the forums. They don't send in game messages, they have so many avenues to talk to people and let them know whats going on yet they are quite as church mice.

The exploiters are the worst. They should have rolled this patch back, yet they chose to bulldoze forward. Now the changes to crafting that upped the cost was a direct cause by people using exploits. Everyone suffered because of these cheaters. Now we have super human like hacking in the DZ. There is so much evidence, yet they don't do anything. They did do 3 day bans, but nothing else that I have seen. They refuse to name the users or say what bans handed out. They won't talk about the elephant in the room.

I am done. Ubisoft you lost a customer.

The Division was a games that promised more than it could actually provide. There was a huge hype train for this game and many people considered it as a "modern" version of Destiny. The gameplay is is very fun for the first couple hours until it becomes very repetitive and the graphics are average and definitely way worse than the graphics we saw in all of the trailers at E3 before the game was released. The combat feels like a generic cover-based 3rd person shooter. The voice acting is not that good and sounds very dull. Even at 30fps, the game still has many frame rate drops on consoles and the open world does not feel that "natural" and feels more artificial and fake. It is pretty empty. The character customization is average but not the best. But players can still look unique among others. The game had a great idea but was put in the hands of the wrong developer which is what my opinion is. So much content is being locked out and put in 3 expansions! However, I have hope that with further updates, this game still has potential to be a great game. But for now, this game needs plenty of improvement. Thank you for reading this review! :)

    -Interesting variety of weapons
-Interesting main plotline story although not as engaging as it should really be
    -Grouping can be fun
    -Gunplay is, initially, fun

    Cons:

-Bugs. Graphical glitches and bugs specific to being in a group like the teleport to your teammate dialogue never going away despite him being right in front of you. Your teammate "moonwalking" in front of you, seeming to never take cover and shooting with the wrong weapon looking like an action figure. Relogging seems to be the only way to fix this.
-AI is dumb as bricks. They make poor use of cover, grenades and tactics as a whole. Melee enemies will charge you without support of supressing fire from allies. Headshots don't seem to do much. It could be worse, true, but still disappointing, given the hype surrounding this title
-"Upgrades" don't seem to follow a logical progression and stats on gear seem to be a little too random. I've gotten green level 7-8 guns that weren't as good as my green quality level 3 Poice M4A1 carbine. All I can say is ?????. It makes things more confusing than they need to be. Being used to min-maxing from other games, I can deal with this shortcoming but it's a little annoying.
-Lag and disconnects. I experienced a lot of lag and disconnects trying to group up but I expect this will be eventually fixed. Still, annoying that it creeped into release.
-World feels even more lifeless than it needs to be. I understand about the plague, etc but still there's just something missing. You just don't feel invested in trying to make things better for these people. There is little to tug at your emotional strings. If they'd added some non-combat missions where you care for the sick or something like that it would have at least tried to get you more invested in trying to improve things for these people. A missed opportunity on the part of Ubisoft I think.
-Hacks. I haven't experienced these myself because I am not high enough level to venture into the Dark Zone but it's basically a hack-ridden gank-fest from everything people have described. It kind of runs counter to the lore of the game. Ultra-top-secret government operatives supposedly working towards a common goal murdering each other in cold blood without penalty for loot? How does that make any sense?

All in all, it's not a bad game but not great either. The inclusion of microtransactions in the game irks me. We already paid full price for the game and there is a DLC pack that costs almost as much as the game itself. The game hit the top sellers list on Steam and probably on other vendors like GMG, EBGames, etc. Microtransactions were not required to make them any more cash yet they just couldn't resist.

At this point I can only give it a 5/10. It's ok for short-term fun but I question f the longevity of the game's appeal. It's like a more boring version of Destiny, the other shooter that also tries to be an MMO.

Okay character customization, not the best but you will look unique for the most part after a few hours.

    Cons:
    Frame Rate Drops
    Controls are **** stupid
    game-play gets old fast
the open world is very empty, as you run from one mission to the next with little to nothing in between.

The game is a little atmospheric, and thats all the game has going for it, but its not even at atmospheric as like dark souls or tomb raider

The idea for the game is not new but its cool coming in the form of a big AAA game. However, the idea and ground works for a game only takes you so far. honestly I like to judge games on the game feel, progression, and story. Well the story dose not leave you wondering at all, the second you boot up the game you know what caused the virus. The mystery behind the virus is known that, oh some organization did it by placing the virus on some twenty dollar bills; so I just didn't give a **** anymore. The gameplay is that of gears of war aside from some gadgets mixed in that don't amount to much.

Seriously if you read some of them, its as if they have a personal vendetta against Ubisoft... if you don't like something, you need to be critical but also objective. You can read how they feel they have been cheated or the information they provide is factually in-accurate. Microtransactions are in the game, they are for visual upgrades only. DLC is paid for but if you have the season pass, it gives you a percentage saving in the long run.

The game play is a mix of Gears Of War cover shooting with Ghost Recon style "run here, get into cover there" mechanics. The graphics are amazing, they went back to tweek some of the lighting and some other atmospheric details with the day 1 patch, very well done on keeping the game away from an early release and it shows the delays were worth it!

You are a Division Agent, called upon when the world has collapsed into anarchy. JTF are the games version of NATO and are the martial law. The missions (26 Main) are well put together and have a mix bag of objectives which resolve around a mutated small pox virus being unleashed on Black Friday - very clever and ties in perfectly to the whole current social understanding of the event. Mad rush shoppers spreading the virus as they spend cash and expediting the end times! The game does throw alot of info at you - one review from time.com explains that the game world is always shouting something at you or throwing up some graphic or detail all at the sametime which can be a little disorientating. The side missions are also very engaging and are light relief to the games main missions. Replay on this game is good, want to tackle the encounter from another angle or go vertical - go for it!

Overall, when considering the release window for this game was very quiet and Destiny being in a shallow pit at the moment, this is the meat on the bones players have been looking for. If your looking for some really good social gaming, this has it. Joined Discord and have met some good people who are all in it for the same reason I am - immersion and a sense of relief from the mundane real lives we live. Who wouldn't want to be part of a group who are called on to save the world!

Most "main" missions seem exciting so far. You can choose to play any "main" mission at higher difficulty for better rewards but I couldn't do it while playing solo and with the lvl of weapons I had.

No bonus gear because vendor is broke or something, support says they are working on it. Not surprised with game with this scope but disappointed. By the time we get the gear it might be below our level except for the appearance gear.

One thing I must **** about is the lack of character customization. You get 8 face choices, with some minor adjustments. And that's about it. So you will be shooting your clone when you PVP. This was a big disappointment for me.

Cool world - the actual world, with futuristic tech, is pretty cool for an idea, even if not exactly new
dark zone - the dark zone reminds me of a more polished version of dayz, to bad it's basically the only good part of the game Cons: Performance issues - I have a 770, and I will be running at 60 fps with completly random drops down to lower boring game-play - below average

repetitive - every mission is the same: kill waves of enemies, repeat
bullet spongy enemies - almost every enemy requires a full clip, boss's require severals
generic story - main story is literally "virus was released on black friday and is killing people! go kill thousands to find a cure!"

This game is just a cheap cash in that does nothing original. It's just a shallow third person cover shooter with other players and loot (whoop de do). The graphics are good but they pulled a Watch Dogs again, meaning they lied to their consumers. There are microtransactions and plenty of connection problems. Just a overall shallow and cheaply made game for the casual gamers everywhere.

Great game so far. Love the RPG elements. Having a great time playing with friends. If you are looking for an RPG this is for you.. if you want a COD like shooter, look elsewhere

This is a fine game extremely overpriced. I see a lot of people happy because Ubisoft managed to make a descent average game, really sad, it's ok to thumbs up and improvement but don't left behind all the lacks.

While 'Tom Clancy's The Division' is a change of pace for the franchise itself, the fact of the matter is, The Division hasn't done anything new or unique that games such as Borderlands has already done in the past, in a much more interesting and colorful way.

It's fighting the same enemies, walking through the same landscapes, finding the same unimaginative equipment and doing the same

It's fighting the same enemies, walking through the same landscapes, finding the same unimaginative equipment and doing the same quests over and over again that makes The Division such a boring plight of a game.

It looks good and I think that with a little more work, effort, polish and imagination this game could have been something wonderful instead of something simply mediocre.

Awesome graphics, fun gameplay co-op with friends. Everything this game does right is ruined by : Cheaters, exploiters, glitches and incompetent developers.

While it looks pretty and is easy to play, The Division lacks in depth and over content. After ten hours of game play you've seen everything.

It's very hard to tell whether you should buy this game or not. However, this game with some RPG elements is based on grinding all the time for better gear and weapons and for some players it could be really boring. There is a lot of missions, bosses, PVP, underground farming, etc. Although almost all activities, all missions in "The Division" are pretty much the same - go from A to B by killing everything in your way (solo or with group) it's still quite fun for me.
However, I believe this game is worth buying only for those who are true enthusiastic gamers and have a lot of free time, because "The Division" is very time consuming game and it takes quite a while to get top end gear. And that's the problem with this game - you HAVE to have best gear if you want to get maximum fun of it, because without best weapons and gear sets you will do no damage at all, you will die quickly and you will be pissed off because of it in no time.
In conclusion I would recommend this game, but only if you have much time to play it, because it demands a lot of grinding to acquire better gear and to get you among the best.

A year after release this game is still broken and plagued by bugs and connection problems. Often these bugs are game breaking and prevent you from advancing a mission or incursion. Also often drop connection or get in matchmaking only to end up matched with people you have a terrible connection to.
Chat is not localized either so it's full of chinese/korean spammers and russians doing

The end game is nothing but an endless grind for gear. You can get geared up in 1 night and spend the rest of your time doing the same stuff over and over again for a minor increase in stats.
The season pass was a scam as well with worthless content that nobody plays and you cannot find a group for 95% of the time.
Avoid this crap even if it's on sale

There is 1 build in this game; Arms and Stamina stacking.
The best developers could muster for gameplay was 15 waves of overpowered shotgun snipers.
The bugs were amazing.. So amazing you dont even need to do the content, you simply grind glitches.

Me and my mates laster lasted about 3 weeks on this game.. Dont waste your money.

the main story game play was great. then i hit the end game and it was just terrible. there is no reason to play once you beat the main content. any other similar game offers you long duration end game content with multiple items for you to personally aim for to enhance your desired class and you look forward to getting it but in this game all that you can look forward to is disappointmentthe main story game play was great. then i hit the end game and it was just terrible. there is no reason to play once you beat the main content. any other similar game offers you long duration end game content with multiple items for you to personally aim for to enhance your desired class and you look forward to getting it but in this game all that you can look forward to is disappointment as you receive time after time some random item which will likely turn out to be junk. there is no unique classes and so few useful weapons outside of the smg category and 1 marksman rifle. to use any other weapon or to specialize outside of these few skills would put you at a significant disadvantage.

the crafting system is poorly designed, the weapon balance is none existent, the game modes are too short and unimaginative.there is zero reason to specialize your skills, the game itself is unstable and often has significant fps drops for no reason, gear sets are unimaginative and often unbalance the game even further. the RNG is the worst i have ever seen in a game and renders the majority of items useless.

basically every single pve and role play element of the divisions end game is terrible

It took The Division a lot of time to reach our computers and consoles, but it was worth waiting for. We have already spent about 200 hours with it collectively and we’re not planning on abandoning it, because it is, simply put, outstanding and shows amazing potential for the future. [05/2016, p.30]

An immensely thrilling action-MMO hybrid, but good for 30 hours rather than the hoped-for 300. [May 2016, p.70]
