Hackers. More hackers. Oh, did I mention hackers? The game is fun, but not when dealing with hackers in the dark zone. If you really want to enjoy the game without this garbage, play it on console.

It's not bad, you might have a good time playing it, but it has some bad points:
    - it s very repetitive
    - bugs, lots of bugs, especially toward the end of the game
    - sometimes it's ridiculous to put 500 headshots to an ennemy to kill him, and you might end up loosing missing because you don't have enough ammunition to kill everyone...
    - there is no end: at the "end" of the game, there is a speech saying that the city is now better, but half the bad guys from the story are still alive, so you need to buy the DLCs !
    - even if you play solo, a permanent internet connection is required, with its share os connection problems and lags, ennemies popping around you and killng you in 2sec because a a bad server sync...
If you can't stand these, don't buy this game

But the worst part of the game is the bugs. And the bugs that the bugfixes cause. And the bugs caused by the bugfixes for the bugfixes. Daily Missions are sometimes there, sometimes not. Next thing you know a ladder kills you, because of a new bug. Or you're doing one of the Incursions where you fight waves of enemies, only to have a game crash at the final wave. What started as a good looking and interesting game with possibilities is continuously turning unplayable and unfun. The players have noticed and there seem to be less and less players from day to day. The game itself would be a 7 or 8 itself if everything would be working but in the state it is in and since the game developers seem to have skipped some programming and quality assurance courses, the game is not worth anything above a 4. Very sad, was really hoping for this game to be as good as advertised. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Super repetitive, no bosses at all. Dark Zone should be called Grey Zone because it doesnt have full pvp or pve action. The game is a beta with "new content" ("FREE") adding for the next 3 months.
Full of bugs, the only meta in the game is doing over and over again the same repulsive missions to find better gear ( now more easy because every named random enemy will drop supreme items 100% of the time. The AI is crap, and the only "boss" in the entire game is a... helicopter...
Not worth even if it costs 15 bucks.

Looks pretty and handles well. Thats about it, sub-par everything else. The shift from leveling to end game grinding is harsh making it super repetitive. The DZ holds little value and seems tacked on. The game seemed like a really good concept but poorly executed. Something about pve mobs taking entire clips from military weapons and still going is also very immersion breaking.

Had to downgrade my original score from 7 to 4 after the 1.1 patch. I guess I'm just not hardcore enough. Well, I don't mind that. Hardcore gamers have ruined everything they touch and I'm happy not to be part of the ruining of this game. Elitist mentality has lead to Ubisoft caving to the most vocal, but least representative members of the community.

Frankly, if 1.1 is the line that The Division is taking, I don't care to see how it all winds up. Like many of the Twitchcasters and YouTubers I follow who are Division fanbois, I'm probably just going to step back and see what happens. Looks like this is going down the Destiny route. No more "D" titled MMO lites (or ANY MMO lites for that matter, as we all know it's just disguised DRM).

    Original review:
Yea, I have to say I'm impressed. As a Twitch caster I watch said, "It's not like a Ubisoft game. It's actually good." I have to say, after watching both the PS4 and PC version, I'm happy to say that I was COMPLETELY wrong and they didn't gimp the PC version for parity. Even after the "Watch Dogs" debacle, I believed that they wouldn't change their stance. It still sold quite well, despite the flak. "Money talks and BS walks", the axiom goes. I fully expected Ubisoft to treat us as they should have, given "Watch Dogs" and the latest series of "Assassin's Creed" financial successes.

I have to say I've moved back to a guarded positive about the big publishers, such as Bethesda and Ubisoft, who didn't take the EA "Screw 'em. They still come back." attitude.

Now that I've reached the endgame, it's VERY apparent that there was not much bug hunting, or testing. It's rather a bit of a mess. This has the potential of Destiny, really good in concept, but it's lack of sufficient testing will cost it in the long run.

This game shouldn't disappoint, but it's certainly not worth full value, either. Twenty percent off is the lowest discount I'd tolerate (I had a bit more). If you are cheap like me and $5 is good for a two hour movie, then you will get 20 hours of enjoyment out of the game. If you are looking for a long haul actual MMO experience, Ubisoft will have to pull a magical golden talking rabbit out of their collective bums.

This game is following the boring Watch Dogs game design.
Also this game has tons of bugs and crashes...sometimes you will get stuck in the console-ish menu's.
And if you think you can later meet great "bosses", no way! Even the boss enemies are are just the same on and on, no special abilities, no fancy design, just always the same "human" boss with no special gun.
Well okay, the only "interesting" boss is the last boss in this game.

So if you think this game is worth paying 40-60$ for just 22 hours and many grinding, go buy it...
Even diablo 3 was more fun, because it has a nice creature design, interesting bosses and items.
But the division has nothing always the same guns, same enemies, same missions, the map.
I can say, i will never ever buy a ubisoft game again, i will always wait for cheap sales, because they never worth it.
Watch Dogs has warned me, never pre-order a ubisoft game again, but it did...and here i am, warning other players wasting their money on this copy&paste game.

    Cons-
-The cover system is utter garbage and very confusing...you'll often have to break out of it just to move to another place to take cover.
-The A.I. is awful. They don't even know how to react to the players so they either charge at you or stay behind cover as you blow them away.
-The enemies are generic and pretty much the same.
-The side missions of the game are all the same thing:
    1. Rescue hostages
    2. Defend your Position
    3. Kill enemies located in a specific area
-The shops are awful. Everything sells for too low of a price(Or everything costs too much. Depends on which side you'll take).
-You cannot trade with other players....I am serious.
    -Character creation is very limited.
    -Glitches, glitches everywhere.
-Uplay(It adds DRM to the game :/)
-Exploring the open world is actually pointless as whatever you pick up consists of mostly the same thing(Unless it is for crafting but no one crafts anything).
-The crafting system is useless as you can buy much better gear from the stores :/
-Grinding is useless as getting experience takes quite a while(Unless you do those big missions...but they are quite boring as well).
-Graphical downgrade from what was shown..yadadadada!
-Gear pretty much looks the same(Excluding the guns and the appearance choices).
-There's barely any late game content except the dark zone...which is basically the rest of the game but with PvP and no quests-Oops I mean "Side Missions"
-There are only THREE classes! THREE! When most MMOs have more than that(And yes Destiny may have had three classes but those classes had three varieties...something The Division doesn't)
And the ultimate sin is that The Division is basically a modern Destiny clone in essentials. If you want a good MMORPG go play something like Warcraft, or Archeage. This is just another Ubisoft game made to steal your money.

This game is so incredibly dull and boring I have never been so turned off by a game before in my life, I'm actually a little offended at how lazily this thing was put together.

Many of the design decisions make absolutely no sense and the PC port is complete garbage, and on top of that the game itself is boring as hell. You spend 90% of your time just running around looking for some NPCs/Rogues/Agents to kill the end game content consists of harder versions of the same missions you'd completed dozens of times while leveling... the Dark Zone is the sole redeeming factor of this game because it's tends to be actually FUN in stark contrast to the rest of the game, however without any structure it's just a sandbox pew pew fest for trolls and lols and it's very, very uneven considering how some players are super geared from farming exploits which are RAMPANT in this game.

NO end game exclusive content , just the same crap over, and over. Oh Incursions you say?! They are just a warehouse you fight waves of enemies in! That's right! This is one of the most underdeveloped, boring, monotonous, laziest game Ubisoft has made since Watchdogs. Ubisoft has lost me as a customer, I will never again buy one of their games without waiting for in-depth reviews and I would recommend you do the same. On the other hand we have a difficult game, in which the engagements with the enemy must be calculated instead of just runin' and shootin'. Also the story is kinda interesting, compared with some newer games.

Once we have the strongest points of the game out of the way, let's talk about the negative aspects. Overall, the game feels very empty. Being repetitive helps a lot with this. The enemies are not that different between them, in comparison with other RPGs. The areas are basically the same, and the accessible buildings are copy-paste. But the worse thing is the RPG elements. The character customization is a joke. The "skills tree" is the shortest I've ever seen, which also makes you feel like you're playing an empty game.

In conclusion, the graphics are great. But that's not all, Ubisoft. The funny part of the RPGs, which is progressing with your character, customizations, etc. are just a joke. The "campaign" is short, and after that you can only repeat again and again the same missions. Looking for a good shooter? Look elsewhere. Looking for a good RPG? Look elsewhere.

The frostbite engine looks amazing but makes it impossible to track and ban hackers as said by the developers and is quite and oversight of using this engine. As detailed as the map of New york is its just so DAMN EMPTY, put more npcs patrolling or allow players with open matchmaking to encounter each other sometimes as they're navigating the city. The darkzone feels just as desolate, you expect 24-28 players to occupy the 9 segments of the DZ? The fact that rogues can end their manhunt through rogue terminals proves otherwise. There's lots of HUD items on your screen, particularly in the center of it, which I don't like. You can hide only some of it, some of the time. Even the enemies have health bars...

The guns aren't fun to use, and the general gameplay isn't fun.

Headshots don't seem to matter, and it takes anywhere from a dozen bullets to a full clip to kill someone. This seems to tie into the fact that the game is designed for multiplayer, so they expect enemies to get shot at by multiple people. Problem is, even if you wanted to, I wasn't able to find any partners in matchmaking.

There's no stealth killing. No crouch. No sneaking up on people and taking them out from behind.

The graphics are nice, run well, and aren't heavily demanding. But unfortunately they're the only good thing about this game. And they're not good enough to counter all the other deficits.

The high level gear drops from mobs are so rare. And if you happen to have a yellow drop, you are probably ganked by other players, who learned to exploit the PvP element. This experiment of having PvP and PvE combined, has failed. If you die in die Dark Zone, you lose so much that you simply rage quit and wait for a game which is worth raging in (looking at you, Dark Souls 3).

There is 1 build in this game; Arms and Stamina stacking.
The best developers could muster for gameplay was 15 waves of overpowered shotgun snipers.
The bugs were amazing.. So amazing you dont even need to do the content, you simply grind glitches.

Me and my mates laster lasted about 3 weeks on this game.. Dont waste your money.

I gave this game a 7 initially but I have changed my mind as the game is in such a sorry state. It was fun during the initial weeks. The game has gotten a lot worst since then. I still face DELTA and MIKE errors as well as numerous hackers in the DZ. With each patch, the game is becoming more and more terrible; Ubisoft's way of prolonging the game's life is to make good loot as hard to come by as possible. On top of that, they seem more interested in punishing people who find and exploit the numerous glitches in the game rather than focusing on improving it and admitting they released a buggy mess. Don't bother with this game until 6 months have passed at least. And absolutely skip the Season Pass. You must be insane if you wish to give Ubisoft more money for stuff they haven't built while they stuff they have built does not work as intended. Expand

Game can be fun with friends, is boring alone.
DZ is overrun with hacker and cheater. Gladly that doesn't matter because PvP is not worthwhile.
Exploits aren't closed. A lot of bugs. Grafik looks nice, gameplay can be annoying in fast fights because of the one button do everything control. Fun skills, a bit op. Shooting feels nice. Game is all about fight against a clone army and loot

Game is all about fight against a clone army and loot them. In the same 4 quests and 8 missions (or a bit more). Very repetitive.

It took The Division a lot of time to reach our computers and consoles, but it was worth waiting for. We have already spent about 200 hours with it collectively and we’re not planning on abandoning it, because it is, simply put, outstanding and shows amazing potential for the future. [05/2016, p.30]

So what is Tom Clancy's The Division? Addictive action RPG in a beautiful coat that grabs you and doesn´t let go. [Issue#263]

An immensely thrilling action-MMO hybrid, but good for 30 hours rather than the hoped-for 300. [May 2016, p.70]
