The biggest disadvantage of this title is the fact that they made this game actually playable and stable with no crashes after almost 6 years after release.

I would recommend it to play with the team of at least 3-4. Alone it might be boring, I still love it anyways

A very good looter shooter. The gun and gear variety is superb and there's always something to do. Each area of the game is unique and both cities are fun to explore. I would like to see more variety with enemies and boss encounters.

When you play the Game with some friends, it can be a lot of fun in the Endgame. You loot and upgrade you're build. Completing tasks and missions over and over again is the principle of it. So if you're looking for a game the play 1-2 hours a day and don't mind redoing stuff, it is a lot of fun.

Speaking of badguys, there is a good variation of them, some try too rush and meele you some throw grenades, some send exploding RC Vehicles to you, some revive there comrades etc. .
Usualy I don't like Ubisoftgames, but the formula works here.

Much improved over Division 1, do not believe people who tell you otherwise: My wife played through DV1 before joining us in DV2, and I helped her a few times, so I could experience first hand, how much DV2 improves basic game mechanics over DV1. It also does not have the ridiculous "another new weapon tier" mechanic - you can improve the weapons you have forever, once you reach max level.

    Highly recommended :-)

Game is really good at this point with the content. As such as first one were need to be. Yes I remember E3 with division 1st and these mechanics only for 2nd chapter. That broke my heart. But now I am playing in 2nd chapter and you know what? Forget it. This is the division that were supposed to be, the game that has a lot of content, you will always have what to do. There is plenty of mechanics to learn. 8 is very good score for this game that I give it with great reserve cause game really need good support to fix issues especially for 12dx

Each mainline mission stands out despite following the same core loop from the original. Diverse environments with different vantage points and hazards promote a wealth of strategies while helping to highlight the varied enemy design and excellent, improved gunplay. The vast, well-realized open world accompanied by a sublime loot system, features a wealth of differentiated weapons and gear.

All of these systems come together to further shine in the endgame. More fleshed out than its predecessor, the lengthy mission path winds up being even better than the already excellent campaign, and while the Dark Zones don’t feel like game changers at the moment, they are welcomely open to both hardcore and casual players.

The Division 2 is an addictive, highly rewarding experience. Bugs exist, but overall it’s a highly polished experience.

All bad reviewers perhaps should've stuck to Pong, if modern shooters are too difficult for their poor abilities or too complex for their little minds, all others should buy it and will be satisfied! Want to have fun killing quite smart software-enemies? Go for it! If you like looter-shooter-action, The Division 2 is a must-have!

    Some details:
I am friend of completing maps - hey, i paid for and the devs invested time and money to create it - , i took every sidequest (o.K., not so difficult, more or less had to for getting the right level for the mainquest), not reached the final and/or maxlvl 30 yet, but have over 40 hrs already, thats real bang for the buck!!!
OMFG, what an experience. Graphics, gameplay, gunplay, story, quests, overall design are all almost perfect. Also the balancing, i get what i need to progress, but have to fight with more tactic the further i go.

About repetitivness: Hey, i don't know why the bad reviewers had to lie, but every story-mission is unique, every location is custommade, definitely NOT copypasted, TONS of different weapons and gear (great compare-funktion btw, no headache with calculating stats :) Sure, some content repeats, but at different locations with different enemies, so i don*t know whats the problem, if you don't like conquering x different checkpoints, the game would be over in 10 hours like some short AAA's, which charged full price anyway. Also it makes sense for the story, so for me it feels different enough to have more hours of fun, all the way better than play a short game through 5 times with exactly same content except enemy-stats to accumulate my hours before getting bored!

I will give MP a try, if it doesn't work no problem for me, the singleplayer-content is more than enough, even if i had to pay the releaseprice!

My big thank goes to the developers, they did an awesome job with this masterpiece, one of the few games of the last decades worth full price for me!

And a little hint for the cheaters: It is an online-game and we now have 2020, so don't think the developers of such a great game are as dumb as you! ,,i,,

Edit: Read some more reviews and have to say:
1: Perhaps Ubisoft started some banning-actions (same date of bad reviews ;), so now the little cheating pusies will get no more milk! Well deserved, if your parents would have treated you right, you would have learned to develop games, not to cheat in games you neither can beat nor deserve!
2: I had NO bug/crash in 40+ hrs singleplayer, and for me it is a great, great SINGLEPLAYER game with MP-option, which i, because of cheating (and/or) kiddies do not prefer over an almost flawless SP-experience for adults!
3: About story/characters: omfg, it is a game! A real good movie has perhaps one hour good story of the total two it lasts, what do you want? 100 hours interesting story? The whole James-Bond-series packed in one game, that costs less than tree DVD/times to go to cinema? Total lack of realism! btw, the story is better and with more details than 90 % of all movies, so grow up!

Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The division 2 is like four games rolled into one. First is the main story from level 1-30. This part is engaging enough to keep you involved and is a nice continuation of the division 1. The world is very believable and overwhelmingly detailed. If you play this game as a solo action game, you will have lots of fun. I played this part twice and think it is one of the best shooters out there. The second part is basically from the start of the black Tusk invasion until you reach item level 500. This is still entertaining, even if the story makes no sense at all and is obviously the result of having spent so much of the budget on the world that it had to be reused. So you cover mostly the same area with bigger enemies and bigger usually just means more armor and hp, not more challenging in their strategies. The third part begins when you hit item level 500 and start to optimize your gear. This part is based on the believe that randomness of drops is the key to keeping the players playing. I found that part very boring. The itemization has always been overly complex but because of the fast progression their was no need to care, now it becomes a pain. Players are basically set on a rotation and may hope to get in hundreds of drops one which is usable. You spent a silly amount of time in emptying your inventory and checking gear. So most players use groups to go through the necessary steps faster. But because the AI isn't really scaling and the game is only throwing more and harder mobs at you, the encounters become just mindless slaughter feasts. In my opinion this part is rather broken.
I have never played an MMO which was less social: Most people don't even bother to read their chat, maybe because the chat server is down quite often.
Ah, yes, the 4th game: pvp. Just not my cup of tea, so I tried it out, but not enough to have a solid opinion on it.
All this sounds more critical than it should: Especially the first part is awesome. Some of the fire fights are the best I ever had with npcs and the immersion works incredibly well. Because the world is packed so dense with items to discover and nps and events, you really have the feeling of a city under siege, even if obviously it gets repetitive after a while and the crowdedness can have strange side effects, for example spawning a new group of mobs in your back during a fire fight or informing you that there is a friendly control point nearby every time you left one.
Episode 2 is not changing a lot. The story gets some additions, but the writing is even less impressive. The new areas are great and quite challenging on the other hand. So challenging that coop becomes the standard way to do this.

You can die easily when you don't take care and it's great. Cover and positioning are very important. + Extremely varied and interesting mission

+ The game is more challenging. You can die easily when you don't take care and it's great. Cover and positioning are very important.
+ Extremely varied and interesting mission locations.
    + A metric **** ton of content.
    + Good loot and progression.
+ Very good graphics for the most part.
+ Great audio (gun sounds, music).
+ The story is a bit better than in TD1, but you still shouldn't expect too much. A lot of the immersion comes from interaction with the world rather than the story.

    - The item system is crap. It takes way too much time to sort items, especially mods. Skill mods are completely useless as items and could have been implemented in a dozen better ways.
    - Some of the UI needs work.
    - There's little incentive to free roam coop, because you only get XP for stuff you haven't done already.
    - Protagonist still can't talk. Hurts the immersion quite a bit.
    - Character creator could be improved: More hair and beard options. Sort colors properly. And don't use the term "body type" instead of "gender".
    - Frequent crashes with DirectX 12 renderer on some CPUs.

Verdict: I got exactly what I wanted - more of the same as TD1 with improvements in the right places.

Way better than the first game, it is actually closer to what was described all the way back in E3 2013/2014. Cover-based tactical looter shooter, and NOT a bullet sponge-grind fest. Even though they still exist, their health has had a significant decrease from the last game.

I really enjoyed The Division, and the The Division 2 is even better! There is a ton of great an engaging content to keep you completely engaged for a long time. I am now 50 hours into the game and can hardly put it down. There is always something new to do! Massive has done a fabulous job with this game, and I hope it gets the praise it deserves.

Loot is everywhere and you feel rewarded by every mission. Alot of time is just spent by changing different loadouts and equipment due to the high amounts of loot, which is good.

The AI can be a bit weird sometimes but they try to flank you and most of the time it works really well.

The endgame has really been revamped and looked up upon. Once you hit lvl 30 and begin the endgame alot of the game opens up and you progress through World Tiers by doing strongholds.

The game isn't perfect though, it has its flaws. The PVP for me is just a mess right now especially in the occupied dark zones where the stats are basically the same as in PVE which means that all the damage that you do in PVE you do in the DZ. This enables people to make insane builds and just shred everybody in seconds. If you liked the darkzone experience i would highly recommend you to not enter the occupied darkzones and instead go and play in the normal darkzones due to the the normalisation in stats.

The story was bland and boring. The characters were forgettable due to the lack of personality. Missions were pretty repetitive, but the locations made it interesting. In conclusion the campaign just felt very lackluster and boring all the way through the only thing that made it a little bit interesting was the change in enviroments between missions.

You won't max out in the first week of play. You won't be able to be the best and have the best and slay the best after a Dew-fueled, 72-hour grind-a-thon. You will have to commit to this game, learn its mechanics, and slowly edge your skills, equipment, and perks along that pathway to greatness. Take this as a true apocalypse simulator, if you must. It's not always exciting, but it certainly can be, and those moments feel all the more powerful because of it. Those same moments aren't rare, either. If you want to press through the story, or non-stop plow through enemies, go for it. I took things slow, however, and meticulously felt out each opponent before attempting each surgical assault. It's got the makin's of greatness.

Of special note is the strategy. You must use cover - there's no tanking here. You need to play smart. You need to be constantly aware of your enemy's positions, enemy strengths & weakness, when to advance and when to retreat, and your own health and armor. As you face higher level enemies, they have better and better AI. Expect to die a lot in the first 8 to 10 hours of game play as you learn the cover system, how to move from cover to cover, and how to deal with the enemy strategies.

    Highly recommended!

A big improvement over the original, with a more vibrant world that feels more organic and alive than NY (not sure why people are hating on this game being more colorful, go figure).

The story is crap but honestly who plays a looter shooter (or any dungeon crawler) for the story? The gameplay is intense and challenging enough to stay fresh even when the missions all follow a fairly generic "Go to X and kill Y" formula. The enemies are much less spongey than in the D1, and the beefy boys all have weak spots or strategies that you can use to take them down without having to unload several hundred rounds into them. The AI has definitely upped their game, and if you don't pay attention to baddies trying to flank you will die every time. Gun play is hugely improved and it actually feels like there is a variety of weapons instead of just the same gun with a bunch of different skins.

Lots of progression, great multiplayer in the dark zone, and the matchmaking system adds a smooth and convenient way to find people to play with if you are a big loser with no friends. On that note, I think solo is honestly easier than with friends unless you all are the same level, because the scaling system does not compensate as much as the increase in enemies when you are in a group. Missions are memorable and with cool set pieces instead of just the same series of corridors and open spaces to fight in. Just feels like there is a lot going on. I got tired of the first game fairly quickly but after reaching 30 last night in D2 I can't wait to keep going.

My only real complaint is the UI, which is admittedly terrible. So much crap on the screen at once, tough to navigate, and a lot of rewards and progression screens are buried behind this clunky and cluttered system, etc. Hopefully they can work on improving it because it really is a mess. But beyond that the Division 2 is a winner IMO, and better than the other offerings (destiny, anthem, borderlands) in the genre.

But significantly in terms of the amount of content available right out of the box. There is an extraordinarily large amount things do you, stronghold, missions, pvp, dark zone, bounties, capture points, and other smaller world map tasks such as supply drop captures, broadcast captures, hostage rescue etc. And those actually get improved later on in end game when you reach world tier 4 where those individually have different difficulty rating that climb the more they're completed, offering better and better rewards.
The gun play is just as fun as the original, the loot system certainly feels satisfying and for an online game I've not had a single connection issue so far with the game. I also really enjoy the new specialisations where you can choose between survivor, marksman and demolition. Each one gives you a set of individual talents for that specialisation and you get a signature weapon. Demolition gets a grenade launcher. Survivor gets a crossbow with explosive bolts. Marksman gets a high powered sniper rifle. And you can swap between them by visiting the base of operations whenever you want.

Some of my minor complaints are probably down to smaller things, for example I don't like loot boxes (That's just a personal opinion and it can be a controversial topic).
The UI can be a little confusing when you first game into the game but you get used to it fairly quickly, but it still has a few minor annoyances, like I wish I had the option to make selectable areas on the map have their large icons at all times so it was easier to find specific locations I want to set a waypoint on.
I've had a few bugs for example there was a gun where several skills would just disappear instantly and you would get a cooldown timer on the ability (However this has now been fixed). But I also noticed other bugs such as sometimes when I try and swap to my signature weapon it simply instantly switches back to the weapon I had equipped already. And by far the most annoying bug seems to be specifically centered around the District Union Arena stronghold as I haven't spotted it anywhere else but twice in this exact place. Sometimes one of the enemies seems to not leave a spawn room and then the door closes with them inside making it annoying to kill them and maybe impossible on some occasions as you can't reopen the door but you can't progress through the stronghold until you kill all enemies in the area. I've been lucky and been able to glitch fire through the wall several times to kill them but I imagine it's going to be impossible in some situations, and it means you have to restart the entire stronghold if you can't kill that one enemy.

Overall however, I've been having an absolute blast with this game, enjoying it far more than I did the previous game, and right out of the box as well without having to wait for content updates.

A great game that is as big and complex as you want to make it! Do the campaign only if you want, do the end game if you want, do pvp if you want, but even for the campaign it's worth the $60. Would be 10/10 had it not been for the randomizied cosmetic loot boxes and the small weird bugs like enemies teleporting.

It's smoother to play, consistently loads, doesn't over-buff enemies making them bullet sponges, and simplifies the complicated stats system that required a couple high-level statistics and probability classes to understand fully. It's basically what the first Division game should have been from the start and it was extremely imperative that Ubisoft didn't repeat history or the IP would have been lost for good. But what it doesn't do is refresh the gameplay to the point where this feels like a new and improved Division experience. Nothing feels radically better and I'm kind of bugged by that. It would have been nice for the developers to consider what steps could be taken to tighten up the gameplay a bit more and whether some new creative license could be used to make the skills system more impacting and varied. There's also the issue that i have in that the stats system seems to almost get oversimplified to the point where it's basically Division stats for dummies, vol. 1 and I don't really like that. I prefer the simpler version to the super complicated one but having the ability to deeply craft your agent's abilities and effectiveness in different ways is a big part of what makes any RPG game highly replayable and unique. Despite some of my wishes for changes or different paths for design in this game, it's largely a good game and while I don't feel excited to jump in to it like I did the first game I largely enjoy it. The biggest reason to buy this game is the lengthy campaign and deep, varied endgame content which transforms your general playable world and introduces you to tougher enemies and new specialization skills and weapons that at least offers some differences in gameplay but not in ways that radically change how you play - they're mild changes but they do have appeal and that's at least a good start. Then there's the guarantee that year 1 DLC is all free and Ubisoft has suggested that there will be 3 nice-sized expansions to Division 2 post-launch before it offers what is probably going to be a big expansion pack a-la Destiny's Forsaken, but what's nice to know is that these smaller DLC packs that are free will advance the storyline of the base game as well as introduce new missions and endgame content.

If you loved The Division's 1.8 patch then you'll love Division 2 which essentially takes everything that Ubisoft learned from the first game and applies that knowledge to the second game. If Ubisoft plays their cards right then Division 2 should have a longer shelf life, giving players 2-3 years of meaningful content to play post-launch and that would be a huge win in an era where nothing is truly free and DLCs are more of an afterthought or gimmick than an essential extension of good core games.

I guess what Ubisoft did was actually learn from the mistakes of the games that came before it. It offers up a substantial amount of meaningful content at launch that makes players feel like they've gotten their moneys worth. It definitely feels like the developers were given time to finish the game rather than being forced to rush to release a half-baked product (looking at you EA).

Whether you're playing solo or with friends there's something here for everybody. Even if you don't touch all the high tier endgame content there's still an enjoyable campaign to get through and a rewarding loot-progression system to accompany it. None of the time you spend playing this game feels wasted because you're constantly earning new items and loot. (unlike Destiny 2).

And whats more, all future content is going to be free. No need to buy expensive new DLCs that barely add any content (again looking at you Destiny 2).

For the first time a AAA company released a full finished game on release. I'm very proud on what massive and ubisoft have made here. 10/10 sequel.

The Division 2 is very much more of the same from The Division but better. Don't play it for the story though, so far having played about 15 hours, I have no idea what's going on in the story - I'm not really following it. It's the game play, the loot, the enemies that keep it interesting. Division 2 gameplay has improved much since the first instalment. Enemies are smarter and more varied, skill tree has been greatly improved, and they have turned up the difficulty a notch. The world is very big and really well designed. Like the first Division you really get the post apocalyptic vibe though I really prefer the Manhattan setting a bit more as well as the whole winter theme.Division 2 gameplay has improved much since the first instalment. Like the first Division you really get the post apocalyptic vibe though I really prefer the Manhattan setting a bit more as well as the whole winter theme. I have however, very few quarrels with this looter-shooter. The loot from bags and suitcases seems a bit silly (a crayon, a pencil etc.). I mean...a suitcase would normally contain more clothes and a bag would perhaps contain a bit more than a single crayon. This however is not enough to drag down the score. But the fact that enemies are still quite bullet-spongy is reason enough for me not to give it a max score. Overall an excellent looter-shooter with tons of interesting content. Well played Ubisoft. This is a more refined version of the prequel. The game is incredibly immersive and beautiful to look at. The game does have a few bugs but nothing that will break the game. You'll get the best experience playing with friends as well!

Massive have provided a looter-shooter that ticks all the boxes. After getting early access thanks to pre-ordering the Gold edition I must say it's been hard to put the game down. The gun play is great, loot is plentiful and varied, and the variation in enemies makes the tactical approaches to each encounter endless. Detail is insanely well done, and the game is constantly engaging and super fun to play. The launch had a few bugs but Ubisoft has done an amazing job at fixing bugs in a quick matter of time and I hope they continue to update this game.

For a fan of shooter looter style this is a top title. The name "TOM CLANCY" it is so far my top games, like Wildlands and Rainbow 6 seige and now this Division 2. I never played the division 1 so maybe that's why I can't compare both. So far loving D2 and the imerssion that this game brings to us.

    10/10 - storymode 10/10 - Skills/perks 10/10 - Performance on middle specs PC. Can't

Its been a long time since ive been genuinely hooked by shooter and the first time ive been hooked to a looter shooter at all.

The Division 2 gets so many things right from the sounds and atmosphere, to the progression and most importantly, its sustainability to have to you keep coming back for more content.

My hope is they can keep this momentum going well into the end game.

they really worked on the open world, went from 3 types of mission with the same icon copy pasted every where to a good diversity of encounters, you can free roam in all areas and find things to do.

Inventory became easier to manage, you dont have a thousand mods to manage and recraft, once you unlocked them you can put them everywhere you want.

cant talk about endgame content since i didnt see it yet obviously.

DZ still seems a bit lacking but i only went to the first zone for about an hour.

PvP is fun, only did some 4v4 for now, i hope there are some bigger maps with more people as this setup doenst allow much sniper play.

Skills are diverse while still being accessory.

I rate it 10/10 to compensate for the haters 0/10, my honest rating so far would be arround 8/10

Perfect reward system, very tactile gunplay and great visuals make Division 2 the best loot shooter on the market, and one of the best co-op games in the recent years. [Issue#237, p.36]

For all the deafening noise and fury of its street battles and set-pieces, The Division 2 is, at heart, a game of co-operative tidying up with incrementally better guns.

With the experience accumulated on The Division 1, Massive manages with TD2 to excite our curiosity. Stronger, more generous, better built, the title succeeds where other games as service before it has struggled to. Thanks to its end-game, which renew the experience by adding content and skillfully recycles the existing one, but also thanks to this map of Washington, absolutely fantastic, which allows more than ever to immerse yourself in the universe of the agents of the Division.
