I was not a fan of the first one at all I found the first game quite boring. So it was quite refreshing to play The Division 2 and the game hooked me in. Progression felt a little too fast with me getting to 450 gear score quite easily. Progression needs to be fleshed out a little more with a more grindy end game progression you would feel more accomplished when you actually made it to World Tier 4. I'm quite eager to find out what the other specializations will be and what the raids will be like. Should give this game the content it really needs at this point. World Tier 5 will be out April 5 and so this game will get some much need content update.

    +Story and Progression
+Missions are Challenging with Harder Missions on the way
-Dark Zones are boring needs larger populations instead of 12 people max
-Current content is getting repetitive (Patch is April 5 and DLC Coming this Summer)

in conclusion this game is very much like a Diablo styled Third Person Shooter. With future content and if devs decide to come out with an expansion to this game I will definately play this for years. mJust keep the content coming.

As someone that's played over 700 hours (according to steam) I had a love hate relationship with the first one.

Leveling was great experience but only so-so for a solo player sometimes. RNG was a **** and meta's were the norm. There was pretty much only one best in class weapon, and most end game gear sets were nothing to write home about. NPCs were bullet sponges most of the time and would use horde tactics to overwhelm players.
And the bugs? Well those were the stuff of legends and exploits. Lastly and my biggest complaint the NPC spawning system was really punishing, especially at end game if you played solo. Well they did try to address much of the problems in the first game some still persist even today.

The second game is a vast improvement on the first in many ways. I've been able to solo up to level 20 so far without any problems. NPCs are less bullet spongy and tactics over just bouncing around has become a viable game mechanic. Bad RNG well still a problem seems better. But the crafting and modding system so far seems whittled down to a point where we really don't need it TBH. The missions are reasonably different, but not as varied as the first IMHO. The environment seems both more and less alive. There are no random people just walking around and everyone is in a militia type group. Also the litter is a bit overdone IMHO.
The developers have added a few new interesting gameplay elements and have brought over many that they introduced later in the first game. Lastly the bugs. It's pretty much the same story there. Way too many have slipped through Q&A. Even game breaking bugs that just shouldn't be in the game still. There are a couple of "projects" I can't complete due to the bugs. Like I said game stopping. I would of scored it a point or two higher based on the gameplay, my enjoyment, and all the improvements over the first one. But with the amount of bugs there are I just can't in all good conscious.

But overall the game is a worthy successor to the first and if you liked it I'm fairly confident you'll like the second too. Just don't expect a perfect game. It has just as many warts as the first one did at launch. Let's hope this time the developers fix most of the problems before everyone deserts the game like they did the first one.

If you played the Division 1 then to say this game is an sequel basically tells you all you need to know. Honestly if you like looter shooters then you'll generally like this game. Honestly if you like looter shooters then you'll generally like this game. I picked it up when Ubisoft decided to have the Ultimate edition on sale for $12. That was a heck of a deal and worth every cent as far as value. While I ultimately don't greatly enjoy the combat for a long term game to play it was alright to romp around D.C. That being said let's get to the meat of the issue:

The god awful plot, characters, and setting. The Division 1 setup a failed city and an attempt by the government to restore order to a city ruined by a pandemic. In this setting the Divisions attempts to clear out the gangs and restore New York City makes sense from a plot perspective as there's every incentive for the U.S. Government to reclaim the city. However the Division 2 is very different in that the pandemic has spread across the world and decimated the human population.

This is the first failure of the Division 2. The plot has you a random Division agent head to D.C. to attempt to restore the government. The ultimate problem with this plot ties directly into the games setting. The pandemic decimates the human population, at that level of death there's really no more communal identity. Most survivors will have branched off to create their own communities that will be resistant to any "outsiders" due to necessity.

This would've made a great plot point. Assuming the government still existed and wanted to "restore" the United States it'd have to do so using the standard methods available to government. These are by force, coercion, or subsidization. Since the government has nothing to subsidize with (currency is pointless in such a scenario) it would have to result to coercion or force. Which inevitably make it look like a bad guy.

Honestly the bland, unimaginative characters don't help this game much either. I stopped playing weeks ago and I can't remember a single characters name. That tells you how poorly written these characters are.

Finally the problems with the setting. One of the big points to the game is helping the scattered communities with supplies. But here's the problem with such a plot. With the exception of perishable goods, the world would be a land of plenty. Especially in the United States, you could go to any empty house or store and have clothes and electronic goods for days. The game also ignores one major factor every apocalyptic game forgets which is Bicycles. Sure, maybe there's not gas but that doesn't mean you can't pedal to your destination.

Finally, the game misses the most engaging plot/setting element such a game should be using to it's maximum potential. The loss of our life of luxury. After helping one community you start hearing a page over the intercom system talking about "vegetarian" options being added back to the menu. Food would be the most precious resource next to clean drinkable water and the life of luxury we've live would quickly fall apart as people would either starve or have to give up their vegetarian lifestyles to survive. Yet the developers seem to prioritize identity politics and fantasy rather then engaging critics on our modern lifestyle.

At the end of the day the Division 2 is a decent game but it's plot and poorly handled post game leaves it as a short term fling compared to it's competition (Destiny, Diablo etc.)

    [STARTING PERSONAL EXPERIENCE:
I played through the “story” of this game in march 2019, about 2 years ago.
And my experience started by creating a character and ended the moment i finished the plot story.
I was a huge fan of The Division, and this sequel was a huge letdown for me in every way possible.
The Plot was no way near as good as the first one, and it was so bad the only thing i can remember about the plot, is that Air Force One had crashed and i was to defend its position, this was the last story mission if i remember correctly. I want to reiterate, this game was a letdown from start to finish for me.
To the point that i can't justify buying the expansion. Why? Because when i have tried to play this game, i could find no groups when i was matchmaking for Invaded missions. I even spent 1 hour while waiting for a group.]

    [MAIN REVIEW NOTES:
    THE GAMEPLAY
The World Design is up to par with the previous game and looks about as stunning. This means i could see no improvements between the first game and this one.
The Game Mechanic, mainly the LooterShooter/RPG part of the game is perfectly developed into this game. With Word Tiers and appropriate gear scores for that world tier. Tho it feels more grindy in this game than what it was in the first one.
NPC and Items Variety is great. You got a few different bosses and general NPC, and the Number of unique items on all the categories, SMG, LMG, Assault Rifle, Rifle, Markman Rifle, have alot of different options.
The story missions is kinda the same as the first one, but frankly not interesting in this game.
Objectives in the open world is alright, and are easy anuff to do solo also. Stuf like patrols, resupply runs and settlements that you have to take over for that area of the map.
The Multiplayer aspects is where it becomes very disappointing for me, from the beginning i have had problems finding groups to play the invaded missions. It is very hard to find a group to play missions in co-op. Resulting in that you will most likely do them solo, and killing the game for me.
The characters in this game were fantastic, all the characters i encountered during my playthrough of this game were fantastic. So some aspects in this game were well developed.
The controls were more or less the same as the first one, so if you have played the first game you will have no issues with this game.

    NARRATIVE
The Dialogue was great, it is well written and executed.
The Cutscenes was fantastic as well, have nothing bad to say about those.

    VISUALS
The Graphics looks the same as with the first one, tho the lighting has gotten an upgrade from what i can tell, but i can't see any more differences.
The Motion Capture/Voice-sync feels fluent enuff and looks great.

    TECHNICAL
I don't recall any bugs as far as i can tell.
I did have a few performance issues, but most of them have been fixed as i can tell. Most of them.
STORY The story in this sequel was a huge letdown for me in every way possible. 2 years later i can only recall the last mission in the story. So it wasn't that interesting that i would remember any of it after playing through it. After the story of The Division, playing The Division 2 was a disappointment. REPLAYABILITY Well, the replayability is good, as you have the potentiality to get many hours of play in this game. Begin a LooterShooter RPG/MMO and all that. But with the issues finding groups i need to warn you that you might have problems finding players to go into missions with. Unless there is an event or something happening. ] "7/10 – Good. Playing a Good game is time well spent. Could it be better? Absolutely. Maybe it lacks ambition, or is too repetitive," ~DeathKillerNOR~

I'm about 25 hours in and I guess it was worth the money. Ubisoft again excels in creating a beautiful open world, and although the gameplay in this is fun it can get very repetitive, especially considering that the game lacks any meaningful story. Killing the same enemy types over and over. I imagine it would be better with friends.

However, I know that lots of endgame content and systems will be added and improved on in the future through free dlc and updates, and the game will become much more fun later on, like what happened in the first game. No sobresale en nada a otros juegos del mercado, además posee una IA mediocre y movimientos torpes del personaje al que controlamos haciendo el juego bastante frustrante en ciertos momentos.

    - Huge map with tons of content
    - Beautiful, handcrafted environments that reward exploration

    Cons:
    - Atmosphere was way better in Division 1 (winter ftw)
    - Many annoying bugs remain
    - Timegated skins with high prices
    - Balance still a bit of a mess
    - Grind is real
    - PVP and Darkzones is a big fat meh
    - Not enough End-game content
    - "THE" most forgettable story and characters on my memory

So I can't complain too much, I got my value out of this game. It's still a solid 3rd-person looter-shooter and you can have a good time with PVE content. Community is still healthy and finding a group is not a problem. But recent decisions by developers are questionable at best.
Upcoming expansion "Warlords of New-York" looks promising and will bring a lot of improvements that should've been in the game from day 1. We'll see if it will be any good.

And, as always. Do NOT preorder. Do NOT buy loot boxes. Or you will get more and more unfinished games with egregious monetization.

Very impressed by the first Division, one of the smoothest coded games I've played, at least it ran so well on my PC. Beautiful textures, sounds, lighting, the whole atmosphere is great, a bit repetetive but cool missions as well, I think I gave it 8/10. This however is much of the same but it feels just a tad bit worse in every aspect. That the first characters you meet in a city turned upside down are 8 out of 10 women, which is very unlikely and they are extremely uninteresting, bland in looks and voiceacting. The missions feels a bit more repetetive but it could be because I didnt finish the game too long ago the first time. Graphics are still beautiful and the combat works, though the map is really ugly and unorganized. I felt that the first game had more character and atmosphere and I feel that a 6/10 is the right rating and I hope that a 3rd one is in the making.

    Division 1: 400 hours
    Division 2 (When I made this review): 79 hrs @ GS509

I wanted to give a fair review since most 10's in here criticize important game features but somehow it doesn't retract from a perfect score? Most 0's reviews don't give credit where credit is due.

    Pros:
Great Atmosphere, graphics, quantity of guns and gear. Plenty of loot to choose from that can be customized to excessively with mods and combinations. Plenty of world activities, especially for the first play through at tier 1. You will not be disappointed completing the base game activities. And if that is all you're interested in for 60 bucks, you will not be disappointed.

    Cons:
Pretty much everything else unfortunately (meaning the endgame). And before you jump to any conclusions I'm just hating on the game, I have a collective 479 hours total for the series, and to my knowledge im not a masochist.

    End game content is BROKEN.

Gear: As of this review, the class sets (greens) are useless and inferior to anything yellow high end gear can provided. The perks they give have marginal effects on enemies and marginal beneficial effects on players. The only way to actually be relevant is to max out DPS, and focus fully on damage, and damage alone. Defense and tech capabilities just don't do any damage. This means no customizing play styles to match different enemy types or gaming preferences. Its all about point and shoot x100000. Which isn't helped by the fact that enemies are tanky bullet sponges. You and your buddies will literally follow bosses around dumping 10 mags each into his/her's face while the boss casually runs/walks around as if they're being pelted with spitballs. This pretty much sums up all smaller enemies with health bar slight bordering on 3 mags/kill (2 mags for headshots).

With regards to weapons, the best firearms are consistently assault rifles and LMGs. Everything else, is useless save for the exception when you need a sniper to pick off a distant enemy (Which is far and few between). This becomes a frustrating and simply boring process of mindlessly shooting bullet sponges. At least in Div 1 you could try different playstyles (support/medic/assault) in order to focus on various roles. Without that, and dealing with bullet sponges, it just becomes a repetitive grindy game with no excitement in playing against AI's with the intellectual capacity of 2 brain cells (They will literally runs in circles or hop over the same piece of cover 10 times before choosing a spot)

Additionally, the lack of polish exacerbates the aformentioned flaws. There are glitches EVERYWHERE. They happen consistently enough that you'll be dealing with them every game you play. This becomes extremely annoying when fighting on challenging or heroic, where small glitches can literally cost you the mission, forcing you start lengthy segments all over again. Glitches include:

    1. Can't revive allies
    2. Getting stuck and unable to move
    3. Equipment not deploying
    4. Failure of the UI to respond to commands such as changing cover, rolling, basic movement, deploying gear.
    5. Enemies literally popping in and out of existence. One second you be alone, the next you're surround by 4 yellow health bar enemies.
    6. Unstable server connection causing: enemy rubberbanding, delayed response, general lag
    7. Enemy health bars won't respond to damage dealt, or there is some odd delay before the game registers an enemy is out of health before "killing" that enemy
    8. Game doesn't balance out factions with lower level friends. One second we'll be playing through a mission taking appropriate damage and dealing appropriate damage, the next people are getting one shotted from no where.
    9. Enemies shoot through cover. This one is extremely annoying and frequent. I have lost track of times where enemies are firing through cement, cars, roadblocks, etc while the enemy is literally pointing their weapon through the ground or the enemy is in a regular cover animation.

Generally speaking the game suffers from lack of balancing for gear (most gear and weapons are useless and there's not point in striving to obtain gearsets yet) as well as what seems to be complete lack of polish in the sever connection integrity and polish in gameplay represented by numerous/frequent glitches. 6.0-6.5 Average user rating is good representation for this games current state. I would highly suggest waiting a couple months for appropriate balancing to be implemented and cleaning up of the numerous glitches before spending hard earned money.

kinda better then last time (i mean 1st division), but it's still worst looter shooter that we have at current time. on my mind if you want to grind guns with your friends better play in destiny or borderlands.

I love Division and still play it. Division 2 had a tough predecessor to live up to, no doubt. Initially I was impressed but the shininess has worn off. The story isn't nearly as compelling as it was in Div 1. There's far too much garbage in the world, and I know it's trying to help sell this version of DC, but honestly I get sick of running around a giant garbage dump. There's far too much garbage in the world, and I know it's trying to help sell this version of DC, but honestly I get sick of running around a giant garbage dump. Fog, rain, weather is amazing in this game, as is shooting. Until the last update looting was decent too but since the update I haven't seen a single common or green drop, it's all blue, purple, yellow. These are supposed to be rare and rarer but now it's all just common trash loot for the most part. Completely taken the joy of getting a rare item out of the game, which I think is really an integral part of the loot shooter genre.

As for gameplay, until like level 23 the game is far too easy. What i loved about Div 1 is that it was hard but man when you finished a mission you felt amazing. I just ran through missions in this game. I barely ever died, and I'm not that good. Also, i hate that I'll do a rescue mission and like an hour later i can do it again?

Skills - i see no point at all in it. I get my drone for healing and my turret, and I don't honestly give a crap about the rest. Perks same thing, by level 15 i hate maxed them all, only ones left were those locked to level 30. So i have all these points from caches and nothing to spend them on. There's no joy here either.

Crafting/weapon mod system is better in this game. I wish they'd applied these improvements to gear mods as well.

Projects are cool. Love the settlements idea.

Overall only a 6 out of 10. Even though shooting weapons feels amazing, the world is gross and the game lacks the challenge I loved in the first one. I think the perks and skill system are bad. I think looting is broken. Shooting range challenges are a weird addition that make no sense, but then again neither does the whole premise of this game, really.

Sadly, game dropped away all rewards for missions and fortresses just because re-logging after two enemies had troubles with clipping through container which cause soft-locked game. This made me use auto-level pass which come with DLC and skipped nearly two weeks of progression. It's have not so much bugs, but some of them are game-breaking.

Still the same issues as the last game. Plus they managed to make the AI even worse. My biggest issue with the AI is how they talked up that it was going to be so good, and then it ended up being the worst I've ever seen in a game. The AI is smart though... they know that they can't die from a single player shooting them so they run in guns blazing and murder you super easy. Basically theStill the same issues as the last game. Basically the devs did not think it through at all before they put it in the game and then didn't even update it for the paid expansion. Just disappointing. I'd honestly rather have the AI from the first game back. Expand

It's a decent looter shooter, very generic story and repetitive missions (suppose that's expected from Ubi). But the gun-play/combat is where it's at; the various abilities to use are a lot of fun and the variety of weapons makes it worth a buy (When it's on sale). There's also quite a lot of bugs, albeit not game-breaking, they are still there. Imo not worth it at the full price.

Perfect reward system, very tactile gunplay and great visuals make Division 2 the best loot shooter on the market, and one of the best co-op games in the recent years. [Issue#237, p.36]

For all the deafening noise and fury of its street battles and set-pieces, The Division 2 is, at heart, a game of co-operative tidying up with incrementally better guns.

With the experience accumulated on The Division 1, Massive manages with TD2 to excite our curiosity. Stronger, more generous, better built, the title succeeds where other games as service before it has struggled to. Thanks to its end-game, which renew the experience by adding content and skillfully recycles the existing one, but also thanks to this map of Washington, absolutely fantastic, which allows more than ever to immerse yourself in the universe of the agents of the Division.
