Was fun for about 3 hours. Most f2p mods have more content. Essentially 6v6 with really bad AI to act as a filler. The story is unbelievably short and very cliche. Multiplayer has a couple of the regular game modes with absolutely nothing new to add. Just a major let down!

    Pros:
    1. Fast gameplay
    2. Titans are really fun 3. Addictive challenge system (similar to battlefield 4's assignment system) 4. Smooth performance even at 1440p maxed settings and 16Q AA. Cons: 1. Atrocious matchmaking system (no private matches, no private servers, only "quick matches", no penalties for rage-quitters) 2. Awful bot and titan AI 3. 6v6 only, and if one player

    3. 6v6 only, and if one player leaves the game unbalances very quickly as the difference in 1 less titan on the battlefield just kills it

    4. Most guns have no recoil, even sniper rifles

    5. Dated source engine, dated graphics

    6. 50GB due mostly to uncompressed audio

    7. Lack of content - maps are very similar, game modes are very similar

Overall: Fun gameplay, the experience gets exponentially better if you have a few friends to form a team with. The lack of content though and really poor matchmaking system is going to severely decrease the lifespan of this game though, I can see myself getting bored within the month. I'm hoping map-packs and updates will extend the life of the game though, it's pretty fun.

Clustermuck sums up the experience. In multiplayer, the game has legions of AI enemies that make it difficult to tell which target is an actual player and which of them is just 1s and 0s, and thus, you end up shooting at the wrong person and getting shot in the back. The experience can only be described as chaotic, but not in a good quake 4 or doom 3 way. No, instead, it's just boring.Clustermuck sums up the experience. Load times are unbelievably terrible, and after a match is finished, you have to wait for 1 and 1/2 minutes to begin the next round :/ I've... Never seen a shooter quite like Titan fall. It's certainly not a good way to make one. That was a wasted $60. Oh yeah, and you can't win unless you're using a titan, so the matches degrade into whether you're lucky enough to not get shot by 2 enemies in titans ganging up on you, because after you lose your titan once, you have to wait an absurdly long time until you get another one. Stupid. Went back to Battlefield 3 within 2 hours. Expand

Definitely a great game, with some flaws that'll hopefully be patched out later. Movement is phenominal and my favorite part of the game. I initially had a problem with the "smart pistol" in the beginning, but after playing for a while I came to the conclusion that it's only really unbalanced during Attrition.

There are a few problems that keep it from a 9/10. For one, I hate the level up mechanics. You shouldn't be limited on your equipment just because your new (see Counter-strike for how it should be done). Now player skills are a different matter, but you should have all the guns you need immediately. There's also the AI. The titan AI is actually great, but the minions are so incredibly dull. I stood in front of one for minutes while it shot at me and missed constantly.

I'm gonna do one more section: negative points other people give it.
    1. 6 v 6 is fine. You'll meet enemies more than enough to be satisfied. Stop complaining.
    2. Graphics seem very hardware dependant, people complain about bad textures but mine look great.
    3. Frame Rate is a little rough here and there, but those fixes will be incoming.
    4. I'm fine with no Singleplayer if a game is built around Multiplayer correctly (which this is)
    5. Recoil would be a negative thing in this game. There's too much vertical movement to include a weapons recoil. That said, EVERY gun is recoil-less so it doesn't actually unbalance anything. Just get used to it.

The game feels smooth and the pilot mech interaction is excellent. The first couple times you play the game it's fairly impressive but sadly it's downhill from there. There's very little to no content and the maps all feel the same. Few game modes make this game feel incomplete. Overall it's overly hyped and while it plays well there's very little substance.

Firstly, Titanfall's motion mechanics are insanely fun and satisfying, adding a whole new twist to how you can use a battlefield. Going back to Halo 4 and CoD Ghosts after playing this game made me realize just how much was added to the game by the jumpkit. When you are in a one-on-one fight, you don't have to strafe and duck and go prone--actually, there is no prone option anyway. IfFirstly, Titanfall's motion mechanics are insanely fun and satisfying, adding a whole new twist to how you can use a battlefield. Going back to Halo 4 and CoD Ghosts after playing this game made me realize just how much was added to the game by the jumpkit. When you are in a one-on-one fight, you don't have to strafe and duck and go prone--actually, there is no prone option anyway. If you were to do so, you would probably get thrashed in every pilot encounter. You have to think in terms of escape and elusiveness, jumping and wallrunning your way to safety and, hopefully, a good flanking position to get the kill for yourself.

The maps are all beautiful and lend themselves fully to a pilot's parkour approach. The gunplay is solid, and Titans feel strong but not godlike, as any pilot or other titan can kill you with a bit of work, while you retain the ability to dispense a quick and violent death to any pilot you find, so long as they don't get the drop on you, and a solid chance at taking out a few enemy Titans before you are blown apart. The incorporation of titans can really change the way even classic gamemodes play, and while there are only a few modes at launch, they all work rather well. I mean, if it ain't broke, don't fix it, right? The Titan's non-regenerative health system is a big help in leveling the playing field.

As for sound, the music and "announcers" are both excellent at setting and keeping a fast-packed, heat-of-battle mood that matches up with the frantic shooting that you'll be doing both as a titan and a pilot. The game's campaign mode was a nice surprise, adding needed depth to a really beautiful space-frontier backdrop while also making players work for those two extra Titan formats. Customization is simple as of yet, but gives enough variety--both on the Pilot and Titan sides--to let you really rework your gameplay the way you want.

The burn card implementation is an interesting thing, and when in the right hands an amped weapon or tactical package boost can be devastating. They can certainly change the balance of a match if utilized to their fullest extend, but the fact that they disappear after a death makes players think before using them and keeps them from being too overpowered. Thank the lord that you are limited to one card per life. Also, it's great that pilots get three weapons, their primary, secondary, and anti-titan guns, and also that anti-titan weapons are generally too slow to hit pilots. No more RPG noobs.

Now, the bad parts. While the Titan combat is very fun and pretty balanced, the maps, in my opinion, do not always give you much room to work with. I'd say that each map will have a slant towards either pilot or titan combat, but the titan-slanted ones still allow pilots to run and gun as they would, only requiring a bit more care to getting stomped or blasted. On a pilot-style map, titans are much more vulnerable due to smaller streets and alleys, along with taller buildings, giving pilots easy points to shoot at or jump onto Titans. This, coupled with the server malfunctions at launch, the occasionally broken scoreboards, the presence of very few tactical packages, the lack of diversity in gamemodes, and the lack of private matches and clans made me consider giving this game so low as a 7, love it as I do, but Respawn has voiced their dedication to expanding the game as time goes on and adding many of these things for free. With that assurance in mind, I'm much more comfortable giving the game a 9 and enjoying what's available right now for what it is; a very fun, incredibly beautiful, fresh-feeling fps in a market saturated by Modern Warfare's and their knockoffs.

Stop it. Stop releasing console FPS on the PC. We really, really don't want to play this garbage.

Titanfall is a derivative of COD, with a giant gimmick of mechs, which unsurprisingly is poorly implemented.

PC gamers have higher standards for their first person shooters.

Hawken is a better game than Titanfall.

I would also like to throw this out there. I feel that this game was limited because of Microsoft and their demand that this be the MUST HAVE GAME for the Xbox One. That means that isn't a lot of content in the game compared to some other rivals (missing a true campaign that truly explains what is going on, only a handful of game modes, very few weapons and limited game mechanics).

This game is great for an Xbox One game. 6vs6 on that console is good since the console is pretty lacking (It's like the older brother of the Wii U). But for the PC...it can be a bit disappointing. The graphics are nice but they're not GREAT or AMAZING. It's not the kind of game that makes your rig flex its muscles. It's the game that's meant to be played by the masses (like WOW). Now for a game like WOW that's fine since those type of games are never about graphics, but FPS are the most eye candy games.

I feel that for the PC the graphics should have been much better and the maps should have been 125-150% larger with 10vs10 matches not 6vs6. I have no problem with enemy AI, I just feel that they need to be adjusted because they're simply too weak. Honestly, if anything I feel that they're just a distraction. They're the pieces of turd that are hiding the good stuff (pilots).

As for balance, I feel that the game is pretty balanced so far (but hey I've only played for like 90 minutes or so). This is the kind of game in which you can jump in for the first time and do some damage or simply get destroyed due to your lack of your surroundings (and inability to focus on the mini map to distinguish between AI and Pilots/Titans). For a console game, it's worth the $60 price tag, but for a PC game...I feel a bit ripped off. I think that it should be $40 or at most $50.

Now down to the point. Is this game fun? You can bet your rear end that it's fun. It's extremely fun and it makes you want to come back for more. I had to chose between this or MGS Ground Zero (PS4) and well I chose this game. I can see myself playing this game for around 100 or so hours (I only have like 20-22 hours in BF4 and somewhere around 40-50 in BF3). This game has been hyped but it's stable. I can actually play the game and don't have to worry about having my game crash or have some audio problems or graphical glitches or even lag due to poor programming.

    In a nut shell

    Pros:
    -Fun
    -Addictive
    -Simple controls (no complexity)
    -Mechanics simple
    -Noobs can have fun
    -Losing isn't that bad
-My blood doesn't boil due to getting killed from lag or some crap or having my game crash

    Cons:
-Was obviously made for the Xbone (bone box)
-Limited graphics for the year 2014
-6vs6...should be at least 10vs10 with maps that are 125% larger
-No legit campaign mode (A bit disappointed. The original COD PC games had fun campaigns that were worth playing)
-Limited physics (Titans should have the power to destroy buildings...Come EA!!! Let Respawn use that Frostbite engine. They'll put it to better use than Dice).

I feel as though this game is getting a lot of shrapnel for things that are not in any way its fault, nor indicative of the actual game experience. Here's whatI feel as though this game is getting a lot of shrapnel for things that are not in any way its fault, nor indicative of the actual game experience. Many user reviews, both on Metacritic and outside of Metacritic, cite a few reasons over and over again for their absurdly low scores, scores which seem to be lower than they should out of some kind of spite to drag the score down. Here's what I see:

    1. Bots ruin gameplay
    2. Only 6v6
    3. Dated graphics
    4. No singleplayer
    5. Call of Duty with mechs

All of these points are either inaccurate, or should not be held against the game.

Firstly, let's tackle the ones that are factually true: 6v6 and no singleplayer. The game does not advertise itself as a singleplayer game and then deceives you. Respawn set out to create an immersive multiplayer experience, and that's what they're delivering. If you want quality single player content, this is obviously not the game for you. Dark Souls II just came out: I highly recommend it. Nobody would rate Counter-Strike: GO lower for not having a single-player, and this feels like a double-standard to me.

The 6v6 player limit is a good thing. Titans are massive and if there were more than 12 running around, the maps would become flooded and the experience would be an awful mess. Despite that last remark, the maps are expansive and beautiful, and each one is unique and depicts a stunning sci-fi landscape.

I also think its hypocritical to use the 6v6 player limit against the game, but then say that bots ruin the experience. The bots make you feel as though you are engaged in a large-scale battle that is going to have a tangible impact on the war between the two in-game factions. They add a lot to the experience, and were not simply thrown in haphazardly. There is one game type in particular where farming them will lead to victory.

Many have remarked that the game has dated graphics, and on this point I will concede that Titanfall does not hold up to upcoming titles like Infamous: Second Sun or The Witcher 3. However, there is something to be said for both the art design of Titanfall and the high standard games like W3 and Infamous: SS set for the industry. The game looks beautiful because of the art design and weapon effects. The aesthetics alone make up for the slightly outdated graphics, and I enjoy looking at this game much more than graphically superior titles like the Crysis series.

Finally, the biggest critique is that it's just CoD with mechs. I think anyone who truly believes this hasn't played more than a single match of the game. The amount of gameplay driven content is staggering: The game places a huge emphasis on both freedom of movement and Titan driven combat. Many complain that the Titans don't feel heavy enough, but that's subjective at best. The presentation for the Titans is very well done. These are power-suits, not Mobile Suit Gundams or other giant robots. Many critique the "lack" of customization, citing other games like CoD or Battlefield as having more, and to a degree, this is true. But each weapons in Titanfall is a solid and useful entree. I can't tell you how many guns have been included in CoD titles only to be never used prestige after prestige.

In brief, negative reviews for this title fail to recognize all of the things the game did right: Freedom of movement (a call-back to arena shooters and something that hasn't been done right since Halo 3 or Tribes: Ascend), ground-breaking gameplay features that create a more immersive multiplayer experience, and the balanced implementation of mechanized power-armor, not to mention the high quality of presentation. I believe that the game is getting heat for feeling very similar to Call of Duty in the gunplay department, but the title has so much more to offer, and people tend to forget that while the franchise may be declining after so many rehashes, that doesn't make the gunplay from the original Modern Warfare less good.

This should also not be viewed as a highly competitive title. I have enjoyed a healthy competitive experience with the game, but it does not replace the drive or satisfaction I get out of titles like CS:GO or SF4.

I will concede that the price point is extremely high, but I rarely pay $60 for any game these days, and I do not believe $60 should be the industry standard. Thinking that a lack of a rehashed, 6-hour campaign that is so prevalent in modern-era shooters should be held detriment to this title is preposterous. I didn't like them tacking on multiplayer in Bioshock 2, so why should this developer be forced to deliver singleplayer content in a clearly multiplayer-driven game? Titanfall is definitely worth looking into. Origin even offers a 24 hour grace period to return the game, something that Steam fails to offer (maybe the only thing Origin does right). It's really hard to lose out here because of that.

If parkour and robots are your kind of thing, definitely give this a shot. I'll be hooked on this one at least all summer.

Not overrated, as the game is fantastic and exciting and a breath of fresh air compared to the CoDs of the world. However, while I love single player in shooters I'm not going to complain at the lack of a single player campaign in Titanfall as that's not what the game is about. What I am going to complain about is the lack of depth in the multiplayer. It is, simply put, not a deep multiplayer. There are a good number of maps, but the game modes feel like something's missing (even though to be perfectly honest I can't figure out what modes need to be added.) I think in a game that's been hyped as changing the face of online shooters I expected Respawn to be the ones to come up with something to change the game. Turns out their answers were: a) giant robots and b) easy to kill AI.

There's something to be said for the ease with which someone who is not a pro can hop in and FEEL like they are achieving something, even though at the end of a lot of matches I find out that I am actually not the powerhouse I thought I was. This is not a bad thing- the game is fun and manages to be fun even if you aren't topping the charts. However, at $60 will the game keep you entertained for as long as other "big box" shooters? That depends, really. I feel like the game needs more weapons (and maybe a little more balancing as a few of the weapons are brutally effective even in the hands of someone with poor aim.)

Another thing worth mentioning- despite some minor login issues on launch day this game seems to have had the strongest launch in recent days for EA, which was refreshing as I had the game preloaded and was ready to go at midnight.

    Enough rambling, here's my breakdown:

    Pros:
Adrenaline pumping, exciting shooting with very few lulls
Excellent map design with no room for campers or dead spots
"Verticality" means you WILL be running on walls and climbing in order to get a good vantage point, and you will love it.
Easy to pick up and play even if you aren't a pro at twitch shooters.

    Cons:
Shallow weapon progression/options means you'll likely stick with one weapon for a long time.
Same 'ol, same 'ol game modes- none of the game modes really stick out
Lack of party chat/VOIP support even though the game supports private party lobbies seems like an oversight.

All told, 7/10. The game needs... more. At $60, I had hoped for a full vibrant experience, and while I really enjoy the game I continue to see the invisible wall that seems to have been set up to allow for paid DLC in the future. If this DLC comes fast and heavy, at an affordable price and with new maps, modes, weapons, and most of all TITANS (something else the game needs more of), then I think I will continue playing into the future. If not, well.. there's always Call of Duty, which while it's not fresh and new, it's a fully featured and realized game, something which Titanfall falls just short of being.

Gameplay is really surprising, there's always something about the controls that throws me off on pc. Call Of Duty is hyperresponsive and oversensetive, but if you put down the sensetivity, it's unbrearably slow.

Battlefield 4 and 3 are good in that regard, but it feels kind of wobbly if you know what i mean, when you're done turning the mouse, the characters gun is still kind of turning and it feels like you're carrying a 400pound weapon. In that regard titanfall in my opinion nailed it, smooth controls with no oversteering.

Gameplay might get repetetive if you're looking for a revolution in shooters, you basically have a low selection of weapons and attatchments at your disposal so there isn't much variety there.
A lot of people might say that the game plays like CoD, but I think that it depends on your own playstyle. I feel like it's a completely different game than CoD simply because you have this parkour mechanic and the titans that mix up the strategies in the game so now you don't have to mindlessly run around, you now have to find a way to be sneaky about capturing flags without being over-sneaked yourself, you need to find a way to maneuver the maps without getting stepped on or smashed to bits by a titan.

When you do compate the game to cod, you might be able to notice that it's the original developers of cod who made it, but in reality, it's a completely other game.

In Crysis 3 you have the cloaking ability to go see-through and almost invisible, why? I'd like to think that it's because that the developers know their playerbase well enough to say "well, our players are running around and they are using the cloaking ability tactically" and they're right, i've personally never seen anyone camp in Crysis, with or without cloaking. but why am i talking about camping? well because CoD is pretty known for it, there's camping everywhere whereas in Titanfall there's not camping at all, and there you also have the ability to camp 10 times more affectively than in Cod because you can cloak AND you can use the parkour-mechanics to get up on a good spot, but noone does that.

I think the game is FUN, which i can't say about many games. In battlefield i'm having fun when i'm winning, in cod i'm having fun when i'm not playing it, but with titanfall i'm having fun no matter how i'm doing. I love how they made a multiplayer game with a story that's the least in-depth i've seen in a while, but it's still incredibly immersive.

Graphics are good, not amazing, but good. I've not come across anything that i find ugly in terms of graphics. Haven't really impressed me either, so is this a problem? absolutely not. Titanfall doesn't remark itself in graphical fidelity, but in gameplay, that's where it shines, and the gameplay is damn good.

I'm hoping that there will come more weapons with upcoming DLC's, and they don't go the route of CoD by making numerous of dlc-packs that isn't included in the Season Pass, because there IS a lack of weapons.

A thing that i love about it is that there's a relatively small amount of keybindings, and then the keys does several things, but you can only do one of the things that the key is bound to at a time because you need to be in a titan to do the other thing that this given key is bound to. makes it feel very simple and easy to overcome.

Overall the game is good looking, plays incredibly smoothly no matter which graphics-settings i'm on, good responsiveness in the control, and it's FUN, which i can't say about many modern shooters.

A really enjoyable title. I personally haven't enjoyed the last few COD titles, and find Battlefield has never quite stuck it's hooks in me. That being said, i'm really enjoying titanfall. It's different enough, fast paced enough, and despite only being "6v6" it never feels like there's a lull in action. Campers/camping hadn't been an issue to date(hello COD) and the parkour movement system is really easy and enjoyable. The multilevel battlefields with titan's at ground level, and pilots at any level(often taking the high ground) makes for really entertaining fights. Personally, it has enough game modes for me... i can't think of any other specific modes that i would find necessary, that other similar games offer. the tried and true are here, and they work really well. The map variety really has an impact on how you play, and there's plenty of freedom on some maps to make calling in a titan only ever a tactical choice instead of the go-to choice. On other maps, titan's rule. Definitely a good game for those that buy Battlefield and COD for the MP, not the SP (honestly, i can't remember the last time i played through the Single Player campaign of a Multiplier game, eg, COD and BF unless there was an unlock to get. nothing special about the game, it's especially frustrating, did i tell you that it sucks? i honestly played games on ps1 which were better. and you can finish the campaign in 10 minutes, and the multilayer is boring.

Terrible game, 30GB of the 50GB is just bloated audio assets. It looks like a game from 2008, Activision must be kicking itself for not adding jet packs to call of duty because now you need jet packs to get GOTY critic reviews.

A fun high speed take on the competitive shooter. Game is a light on content, there aren't many maps and all the game play modes are tried and true. If you like team death match and hard point games types then this game will server you well. If you are sick of Battlefield then this might be a fun alternative. If you can pick the game up on a discount, I say go for it.

The fact that this game lacks a single player option is why I can't even call this a game. It's simply a temporary, competitive medium for people to wave their electronic genitals back and forth at each other. Previously I could not get the game to run smoothly at any resolution except 1080p. It would actually run just as poorly at 720p as it would at 1440p idk if this is a driver issue or what but it is annoying having a gtx 780 ti an a 1440p monitor an not being able to play a game that I should be able to easily run at said resolution, hopefully this will be patched or a new driver released to fix this. That said I would recommend this game if you enjoy run an gun style that is easy to play but hard to master.

(Original review) The game looks great when I enter the tutorial but as soon as i enter into multilayer im hit with fps drops an even frame skipping to the point of not being playable. I talked to customer service and was told they are working on the servers an that was the issue so untill it is fixed the game is completely broke for me.

Today i gave this game another chance. But i just had no fun. In the beginning there was no camping or crashing . Just jumping around and getting kills. It could be a little bit like Destiny, you have ur own Ship and ur own Soldier, which u can customize. And then, in the Bridge of the Ship u can choose ur Battlegrounds and start fighting to win the war for your fraction, but respawn thought: COD makes money so we just need a bad Menu, bad Servers and some crashes like BF4. It doesnt feel like the Developers love their game, it feels like a rushed game.

I was waiting for a game that would blow me away and break the oligopoly of Battlefield and Call of Duty. Here it is. Titanfall shows that online shooting does not have to be confined to contemporary battlegrounds. [05/2014, p.42]

In the mind-boggling question that tortures world's biggest gaming studios (how to refresh the competitive FPS genreĀ), Respawn answers by taking the Call of Duty core, enhancing it with elements from various sources and franchises (Mech games, Crysis , Tribes, Mirror's Edge etc.) and forging it in the Old School mold (Quake/Unreal Tournament) . Titanfall does not innovate. It manages, however, to leave a fresh taste by balancing nicely all components of its gameplay.

Titanfall is a highly entertaining online shooter, but it's a bit light on content for a full priced game. You quickly start to realize that Titanfall could desperately use more maps, more unlockables, more upgrades and more customization. [Apr 2014]
