May 19, 2026In the eco-adventure Tides of Tomorrow, the actions of previous players shape the world you will encounter. Visually, it manages the remarkable feat of conjuring a beautiful seaside world that’s choking beneath plastic refuse.

May 7, 2026Above all, Tides of Tomorrow is an original narrative game concept—and on that front, it delivers. The premise is a success; it works well thanks to a high degree of transparency regarding the impact of our choices—as well as those of our predecessors—and a cohesive narrative integration. This truly serves as the game's central pillar, supporting a meticulously crafted universe; however, it also necessitates a certain simplicity in the design of the explorable locations, ultimately rendering them a bit too conventional. It is a necessary sacrifice for such an ambitious concept, yet one that is felt a little too keenly nonetheless.

Apr 21, 2026An asynchronous multiplayer experiment with a great atmosphere, but some weaknesses in the core gameplay.

Apr 21, 2026If you’re looking for a story-driven title in an interesting world, then Tides of Tomorrow is probably going to be for you. Just don’t expect too much challenge along the way. When it comes to saving a dying world, what choices would you make?

Apr 21, 2026While Tides of Tomorrow hits a few rough patches with its stiff controls and some questionable music selection and voice work, the weight of its decisions left a lasting impact on me long after the credits rolled. Its Story-Link system turns the narrative into a fascinating social experiment, forcing you to confront the legacy you leave for other players.

Apr 21, 2026Tides of Tomorrow makes waves with a boldly unique mechanic at its core, which both impresses and delights, but the constant need to push the narrative forward feels a little restrictive at times.
-
May 5, 2026Tides of Tomorrow features an incredibly interesting mechanic and a unique setting, but both are undercut by poorly paced storytelling and a lack of deeper, engaging gameplay. While I would still recommend the game for its unique, indirect multiplayer mechanic, you might find yourself in the same position I was: burnt out on the gimmick early into the game.

Apr 21, 2026Tides of Tomorrow is a textbook example of mechanics that would be better served in a stronger game. Its story-link system is compellingly eerie and smartly iterates on the social aspects of choice-based adventure games, and its resource management shapes player choices in clever ways, but neither can fully escape the leaking ship of flat writing, characters and setting. While I hope that games on future tides can better capitalise on these ideas, for now, Tides of Tomorrow doesn’t deserve much more than a day trip to its rusty water park attractions.
-
Apr 21, 2026Tides of Tomorrow has a strong and original concept that also serves a social purpose. The Story-Link system creates unique moments and gives the sense that you’re part of something bigger, where actions have consequences, even if the impact of your own choices sometimes feels limited and technical flaws and a sparse presentation hold it back from truly excelling. Still, it’s a game that lingers with you, precisely because of the question it leaves behind.

Apr 21, 2026Tides of Tomorrow shattered my reluctance to interact with strangers, and even better, it made me think of TideLover and co. as my friends, despite the lack of direct interactions. I've enjoyed Tides of Tomorrow's story my own way, at my own pace, yet it still feels like a shared experience. It's genius, really.
