Disney, if you're there... please give Mr. Gilbert his baby back.

This game is very good, exceeds expectations, plays on nostalgia but isn't just references and fan service. It's clearly made from a pure artistic vision. It makes you feel young again, which is a pretty cool thing.

Thimbleweed Park is basically a sort of sequel to Maniac Mansion.
Puzzles are all well thought and logical; not too easy and not super frustrating. And you always have something to do or something to check, so getting stumped is rare.

The whole writing is superb - except for the *really* excessive metatext, self-referentiality and the breaking of the fourth wall. It's way too much. This is its worst flaw. And if something like this is the worst flaw... well...
This game is EXACTLY what I wanted to play in an adventure game.
Hope Ron (and the rest of his team) keeps making games like this.

    Absolutely fantastic.

I agree with all choices, recognizing they were hard and I think that by making these choices, some essential next steps have been made to "upgrade" the genre.

Brilliant. Absolutely fantastic game. Superbly smooth run and executed kickstarter project. Many props to Ron & Gary & David. If u're a fan of the clever old adventure games of the 90's, this is the one for you. The humor is still spot on, the puzzles are clever, it has some nice interface tweaks and no more of those famous dead-ends. I love it !

The humor in this game is unique and snarky. It's tale is dorky and bizare in all the right places. At the end, I was left with a sence of acomplishment and a burning desire for more.

I highly recomend "Thimbleweed Park" to any and all players.

Puzzles are more logical than previous games, and there is a strong sense of accomplishment whenever a clever one is solved - this is one of the biggest difference with previous adventures, you can see how much effort was put to design something logical, when it comes to puzzles. I'm towards the end of the game and albeit I got stuck few times, the solution was always logical. The story is really developed and interesting, much more than any previous Lucasfilm adventure game I've ever played. Ron Gilbert, Gary Winnick, David Fox, Mark Ferrari & co. did it again, this is point-and-click adventure at its finest. Expand

Thimbleweed Park is an AMAZING adventure game. In the age of disposable mobile games and crappy DLCs infestation, a game like Thimbleweed Park is TRULY a breath of fresh air. I hope many people buy this game just to experience what a classic adventure game plays like. Quit social for a while and enjoy this game. Once you're back on social, spread the word about it :)

    What a fantastic game.

It has all the atmosphere, charm and gameplay of the original Monkey Islands, Manic Mansions etc but subtly updated with more logical puzzles, graphic effects and more. The addition of the hint line is excellent as it doesn't give you the answer but gently points you in the right direction. Please please please make more of this type of game please.

Nostalgia may take the reigns with TP's oldschool graphics, but it was more the writing, comic timing, puzzles, and setting that made me understood what I yearned for all these years.

It had me hooked to the end.

An only "flaw" I could think of, is that there was no need for so many playable characters. It seems that the team could've learnt a thing or two of how DOTT played out- eg. Ray and Reyes- there was no need for two separate playable characters - it may have been interesting if they'd have been a single entity (as a team), but I hardly ever used Ray, but used Reyes instead due to his oddly awesome voice.

BUGS: There were occasional sound glitches for me on my PC setup (ASUS Xonar)- Voices would go quiet and then only come from my left speaker (varies) - but nothing that was game-breaking.

    Pros
    - Excellent pixel art, presentation, and setting
    - Colourful characters with unique personalities and backgrounds
    - The same team that built classics such as Zak and Maniac Mansion
    - Great hint helpline IN-GAME (so you won't be stumped for too long!)

    Cons
    - No need to use all of the characters

Voice acting is great, Puzzles too and the Characters inhabiting this game are compelling enough to hold your interest and amusement.

    - pixel art style is not "pixel-perfect", especially when scaling actors. It looks bad to mix different size pixels on screen.

It's the best point & click adventure since a long time. It features a wonderful mood, nice graphics, good music and mostly enjoyable puzzles. It lacks a couple of more unique and challenging ones. The story and writing is okay, conversations depend on the characters. Some characters are great others are more boring. The game is well made and performs nicely.

Thimbleweed is exactly what it looks like: a point-click adventure going full on the retro/nostalgic side of things. And it is a very good point-click adventure for all standards. Thimbleweed also does many great things on the aesthetic side, both on graphics and sounds, so even though it looks retro you actually enjoy your senses every minute you spend on Thimbleweed. This is worth noting because many retro games do not do this right, and it also a great choice from the creator since it is certainly a good arthistic style for the genre.

However, although Thimbleweed is definiteley a great game (even more if you consider it can be played on mobile devices) one is forced to compare it with its predecessors and the masterpieces of the genre. And this is no easy task. Thimbleweed certainly stands his ground firm on many aspects when it is compared with the classics, but one must admit that Thimbleweed falls behind on story, dialogues, and characters. Since graphics adventure rely on story telling and clever puzzles instead on horse-power the device they are running on, it is not so surprising that almost 30 years after the start of genre games like Monkey Island I & II and Day of the Tentacle are still the pinnacles and the top of the their class. To put it plain and simple: although Thimbleweed is certainly very good, it will not fill your memory with unforgettable moments as those three classic games I mentioned before.

Thimbleweed Park ultimately seems to care about neither its story nor its characters. What’s the core here, then? I suspect it’s just about the easy, wistful smile, and the prick of familiar memory. Do you remember? asks Thimbleweed Park as it displays its lustrous imitation of a bygone era, and on seeing a nod it lies: Yes, it was just like this.
