    Great survival game with good environmental storytelling. The game won't tell you what you need to do but it's not too hard to get used to. And when you know the mechanics, this game is very easy.

    This game is mostly spent exploring caves and so that leaves a lot of mechanics like base building useless. Cool lore tho.

    Didnt really like it. The caves are repetitive and everything just feels weird.
    Building things takes too much time, even in 4 people.
    Story was boring so i didnt even pay attention to it

    I can't recommend this game.
    It's boring and slow.
    Being lost in an island is not fun in real life, why would you like to do that in a game. The "evil company/government behind everything" is way overused and not engaging.

    Best survival game with co-op right now. Intresting to explore the map, fun to build slides & bases.
    Game has scary atmosphere inside caves.
    But game is very short, you can finish it in 5-6 hours.

    Forest is one of the most interesting survival games. At the time it came out, and even today, I still think it's the survival game with the best graphics! Good game, I would definitely recommend it! Just waiting for the second part of this game!

    In many ways, the game is monotonous and buggy, and with prolonged gameplay it becomes simply boring. I am far from a hater of Forest, but it is necessary to understand that many games are not perfect, and especially this one.     It is fun to play with friends, but you realise that the survival system isn't really necessary that if you go to the caves. It's so easy to find food and water that you don't need to hunt do anything else but go cave diving.     And if you don't have a guide it's gonna take forever to find the thing to get to the later half of the game of the tools and what a diving suit my and my friends had to look it up because it would have taken us forever otherwise.

    The world is intriguing and the enemies look disturbing f***** up. It is interesting, if you find it for about 4£ , I would recommend it.    … Expand

    Estoy harto de los mundos abiertos pero la historia de este juego si me llamó la atención la verdad, aparte la intensidad que sientes cuando te encuentras a uno de estos fanáticos del Atlas es otro pedo.

    Some things about the gameplay are disappointing:
    - Building is not worth it at all, at no point you'll feel the need to build the cool stuff - When you choose to build the cool stuff anyway, you find out it's an absolute chore -Ranged fighting feels unforgivably bad.     I had some good times on this one. Just the graphics could have been better and many bugs, sometimes very annoying.
    But in the end pretty entertaining. Better with friends tho.

    A very solid game & one of my favorite horror games I've played to this date. The game play is amazing & storyline isn't that bad either. However including friends is a whole different story. Endless shenanigans can happen and it can get quite hilarious at times, but single-player is also great as you can mostly focus on the game itself.     Play this with friends. When me and them started we were noobs, we kept arguing and kept fighting. We beat the game but the fights keep on coming... We'll revisit it soon to do some other stuff. The story is not all there but then again it's a survival game the focus was clearly placed on that aspect and with the limited resources the studio had they did pretty well...

    Довольно средний выживач с очень малым количеством контента, который захватывает только за счет исследования мира и общей мистической направленности сюжета, до концовки которого хочется докопаться (как такового его тут нет, просто есть завязка и финальная локация, которая все разъясняет, что вообще происходит на этом острове).
    Общая атмосфера очень захватывает, и пока не привыкнешь к ней,    Довольно средний выживач с очень малым количеством контента, который захватывает только за счет исследования мира и общей мистической направленности сюжета, до концовки которого хочется докопаться (как такового его тут нет, просто есть завязка и финальная локация, которая все разъясняет, что вообще происходит на этом острове).
    Общая атмосфера очень захватывает, и пока не привыкнешь к ней, будешь находится в постоянном напряжении и с ужасом переживать каждую ночь в надежде, что она пройдет как можно скорее (что, кончено, огромный плюс к атмосфере).
    Подробностей и причин всего этого не буду описывать, лучше это однажды пережить самому, общую концепцию можно увидеть и по скриншотам.
    Из того, что увидеть по ним нельзя - в игре безумно дорогой и долгий крафт базы, из-за чего кроме промежуточных мелких лагерей ничего особо больше строить и не хочется, а хочется просто исследовать остров в поисках зацепок для дальнейшего продвижения в цели всей игры.
    Попробовать эту игру точно можно посоветовать всем, но именно задерживаться в ней для продолжительного выживания - не уверен.
    Повторюсь - я не особый любитель жанра, но в коопе провел в ней 20 часов в удовольствие (под конец кишкообразные пещеры с бедным крафтом немного утомили).
    В планах через время вернуться и еще попробовать поиграть чисто на выживание, с обустройством своего лагеря, но не уверен, что после этого захочу повысить оценку.    … Expand

    Relatively, I haven't played it much. But I enjoyed the game. It was scary to experience every night. But the games have problems and disadvantages. One of which is a small variety. The first days everything happens very quickly, but later everything abruptly becomes a routine and the game becomes very boring.

I don't think I've ever beat the story but I sure do have a lot of fun running around with my buddies exploring caves and beating monsters with pipe bombs. It's a simple game. The story is a little convoluted, but I admit I'm not playing for the story.

    Docking a couple points because once in a while my camera glitches when I'm swimming    One of my favourite game to play with my friends.     This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This game is amazing! There is a good number of bugs and a few confusing plot loops, but I still think this is an amazing game. The Canabals AI feels very fleshed out and the map is very good on the surface and inside the caves. The story is beond amazing and the final boss fight has so much backed to it to where you feel bad after killing her. Overall if you have not played this game PLAY IT NOW!!

    So, this game is amazing. It got really interesting and cool gameplay. You always need to run or fight with someone. Also graphics good and shadows done amazing. I recomend you to buy it in full price if you like open world games. There are many caves to discover and places to visit

    Honestly, i don't think it's really bad game but it's really simple and so easy to play. There is really little things you can do in game, very short game to finish it, even you play hardcore, it can be only finished after 15 hours, so it's too short for a survival game. Still good game but honestly I haven't been satisfied enough.

    Nice survival game, but very boring gameplay. The plot is generally good, but unfortunately very commonplace and predictable. The game is exclusively for co-op entertainment. I doubt it will be really fun to play it solo.

Make a smart to-do list, let's finish the game like this, the exaggerated mystery gets boring after a while. I prayed for it to end. By the way, the finale was bad. It has a lot of optimization issues as it's made with Unity.     The Forest is an excellent game with a compelling story line and the gameplay to back the story up. The visuals are stunning, with the lighting being very well done. The AI of the mutants in this game is where this game really shines, this isn't some AI pathfinding thing where it just constantly looks for you to kill you. You can remain friendly with the mutants, you can be hostile, the mutants respond to your actions accordingly. There are patrol lines of the mutants, there are multiple tribes and they clash. Now, the cave system is really the bread and butter of The Forest, and this is where it really gets interesting. By delving deep into the complex cave systems of The Forest, you will encounter new enemies, find new and better weapons and find items crucial to the lore. Without spoiling anything, I can say that this game exactly follows a linear circular narrative with the ending, the ending isn't cliche, and will probably surprise you (unless you've paid very good attention to the lore throughout the game). I personally find The Forest much more enjoyable with friends, however, the single-player experience is also excellent.

    Cons:
    -Enemy AI is pretty great, but character combat is clunky. My character has frozen in combat despite having stamina and not getting hit.
    -Caves are cool, especially when using color filters like Texas or Modern for visibility. But other than finding clues and unique weapons, they all look the same and lack an artistic flair that would make them seem more lived in. It's basically the same dark craggy walls and mutilated corpses everywhere. The outside gameplay is vastly superior, but you find some neat gear in the caves.

    The forest took me around 30 hours to beat my first time, and I'm sure I didn't collect everything. Overall the game is very good, has some replayability and gives some great scares for the first 3 hours. It's got plenty to explore and doesn't overstay its welcome, but the option to continue playing after beating the game exists, and every tree can be cut down providing near infinite building possibilities. It's one of the best in the survival horror genre, here's to hoping Endnight can refine and improve the formula for Sons of the Forest.    … Expand

    debo decirlo, the forest es un muy buen juego. mucho mas sabiendo que fue creado en un sistema como unity y por menos de una decena de personal.

    Primer apartado, jugabilidad : no hay mucho que decir, se juega como cualquier otro survival, te abasteces, creas objetos,consumes y repites el ciclo. con la diferencia que los enemigos lo cambian todo al hacerte sentir la presa o el cazador muchas veces. yo alguna vez me queje de la cantidad de canibales que solian llegar a mi base pero vas aprendiendo sus rutas diarias y ya sabes. en experiencia propia este juego es mucho mas entretenido con amigos.

    apartado ambiental: si bien durante los primeros anios el juego se veia mediocre graficamente con diversas actualizaciones lograron hacer que el juego se vean bastante bien logrados. realmente te hace sentir perdido

    apartado sonoro: debo decir que aqui es donde el juego brilla. en la noche al sentir los gritos de los enemigos te hacen sentir nervioso. ni hablar de los mutantes cuando los ves en medio del bosque. en cuestion de otros sonidos es decente.

    inteligencia artificial: aqui debo resaltar a los enemigos hostiles de nuevo, sinceramente no creia que sus comportamientos fueran tan avanzados mas alla de atacarte pero no, si haces ciertos gestos, atacas en cierto orden, llevas algo encima reaccionaran diferente.

    apartado argumental(spoilers): la historia esta buena, no es la mejor pero tiene toda la cosa sobre que en realidad los canibales son una tapadera para esconder los secretos de esta isla.

    en general solo tengo dos quejas con este juego.

    1) incluso despues de anios de desarrollo los bugs persisten, mi olla o troncos se multiplicaban aveces, no hay forma de sacar algunos objetos del agua etc. pero no encontre algun bug tan grande aun.

    2) las cuevas despues de ciertas veces no las visitas mas que para obtener los objetos unicos ya que estas totalmente reabastecido. eso me parece un desperdicio.

    Now lets talk survival. The mechanics are basic, but still cool and interesting. You only start with an ax and you can use it to chop down trees (and chop up bodies if you go that crazy) and you can use these logs that you got from the trees that you have chopped down. This can get grindy but I have made an elaborate zip line system to avoid this and you can youse bombs (and mutants if you are smart enough) to speed up this grind.

    Now let's talk A.I. and enemies. As you explore you will come across many horrors, these are mutants, cannibals, mutilated bodies, and cannibal camps. The cannibles have amazing A.I. to the point where they actually feel humans. Examples of this are when you kill a group of cannibals but one escapes, they will come back later with a lot more. You will also experience cannibal fights between different tribes of cannibals, you will want to get away if you see one. They are pretty basic when you are fighting them, you slash, shoot and light them on fire. But they have weapons too, they youse flaming golf balls, clubs, scull clubs, axes, sticks, and also there fists.

    Now let's get into the mutants. This is where the real meat on these bones are. there are three types of mutants. Virginias are women that are fused together which are fast and agile but easy to kill, armsys who are powerful in melee. They have tons of arms (obviously) and are strong and are the biggest threat to your base. And then there are cowmen. These are huge 400 mutants which are fast and dangerous, but not quiet. These will jump on top of you and knock you over. There is one other type of mutant that is kinda a spoiler so I won't talk about it.

    Now we are on the scariest part of the game. You are walking in the forest at night, hungry and scared. You can only see a small radius illuminated by your torch, you hear a scream in the distance. "I better get home." You think. You start to run, but you are not alone. Something is watching. This is a common scenario that you will find your self in. This is not a cheap jump-scare five nights at Freddy's game, this sparks something from your primal caveman mind. Being alone at night is horrifying. Especially because you are always being stalked even when you are at home.

    This game has caves. Lots of them. In fact, to finish the game, you have to explore them. You can find many effigies, mutilated bodies, gutted bodies, etc. You aren't safe down here either, there are still mutants and cannibals but these cannibals are different. They are 8-feet tall and pale. You will want to exercise caution well near them. The mutants are mostly the same, you will occasionally come across some of these but they are the same as the ones up above other than being a bit more powerful and pale. These caves also have loot. LOTS of loot. But most of the time it will be guarded by the mutants.

    Now let's talk craft. There are 26 different items to craft. That might not sound like a lot but it is a lot. You will have to hunt and forage for resources and hides to craft. You will even have to go to the snowy north to get some of these resources.

    This game has bugs, they aren't too bad but there is quite a bit. These often don't happen much but for most of these, you will have to be looking for them to find them. But for a small team, this has quite a bit of polish.

    Did I mention multiplayer? This is a fun experience, if you have friends THEY NEED TO GET THIS! i have spent many hours with my friends playing on hard survival. We have killed so many mutants and cannibals to the point where our house looks like something from Hellblade. There are still scary moments, they just arent as bad. There are still some pretty bad bugs but they often don't get in your way.

    Overall, this is an amazing game. If you have $20 and a decent computer this is a must buy.    … Expand

Сюжет хоть и запутанный но разгадывать его интересно. Боевка на 7/10 ведь тощий абориген выдерживает 7 ударов топором, а здоровый и взрослый мужик умирает от 4пощечин. Так же удтвили 2мя концовками. Обе вполне логичны (в первой гг сбивает самолет спасает сына и уплывает. Во второй он смиряется со смертью сына и остается на острове.) Рекомендю любителям выживания. Так же если имеется PS3 то советую брать именно на нее. 30FPS, 1080p, и ультра настройки если сравнитт с ПК.… Expand

    It's somewhat hard at first to learn all the mechanics the game presents to you, It involves a lot of hard work and hours in order to survive the first days, but the feeling and atmosphere the first night gives wont ever be replaced. It's till buggy and I personally didn't care 'bout the story at all.

    + Un jeu de survie assez dense et complet. Construire son campement, chasser la faune locale, faire son feu de camps pour se protéger des indigènes la nuit, tout les ingrédients sont là pour se sentir Bear Grylls.
    + L'ambiance survival-horror du titre est vachement réussie, avec ses indigènes difformes et ultra agressifs, ses grottes lugubres, ses environnements parfois très glauque, le jeu réussir à présenter une ambiance finalement assez oppressante dans cette forêt sympathique aux premiers abords.
    + L'accessibilité et l'interface bien réussies, tout est facile à prendre en main, le système choisi pour l'inventaire est original et fonctionne, le livre de survie apporte une vraie facilité pour découvrir ce que le jeu propose, c'est bon à ce niveau là.
    + Les environnements sont assez variés, la carte bien que pas forcément la plus variée du monde propose suffisamment de points d'intérêts pour inciter constamment le joueur à l'exploration avec moult récompenses à la clé.
    + L'histoire, qui manquait à priori dans l'early access du jeu est aussi complète, avec sa progression, ses découvertes et même ses 2 fins !
    + Le jeu est entièrement jouable en coopération, et c'est super agréable pour un jeu de survie de cet acabit.

    Les points faibles :
    - Quelques bugs, plus ou moins gros, sont bien présents que ce soit dans la manière de poser ses constructions ou d'interagir avec l'environnement. On est passé 2 fois sous le sol de la carte durant notre aventure, nous forçant à redémarrer la partie sans avoir sauvegarder à chaque fois, et c'est assez frustrant parfois...
    - Les indigènes sont effectivement hyper teubés, leur IA peu réussie et les combats ne présentent que peu de challenge du début jusqu'à la toute fin.

    En conclusion, The Forest reste un jeu de survie hyper complet, à l'ambiance survival-horror qu'on ne voit vraiment pas tous les jours qui aura réussi à proposer une version complètement aboutie de ce qu'il voulait vendre en Early Access avec beaucoup de choses à explorer, construire et une histoire à compléter.     I really liked the Forest, the story is great and interesting. I also loved the gameplay and mechanics. The map is great but gets repetitive after some time. I wish that there was an option where the map was randomly generated, and maybe a non story setting. Playing with friends was also a blast.
    All in all The Forest is an amazing survival story game that I would recommend you to try.

Barely clad enemies resist multiple slashes of a Katana, Little Bambi deer run off after being slashed multiple times with a Katana. You need to craft two deer skins and rope to make a water canteen yet you can't empty a beer bottle and fill that up with water to carry. Night mode is far too dark and tooI don't get the hype.     The start contains very few tutorials and guidance and while that would, in other games, allow for cool player discovery, it gets bogged down because your only goal is unachievable. Onec you get started, you brealizw how long it takes to make any structire to create an actual base.     The Forest is an awkward open-world survival game. It's thrilling to play because of the intense atmosphere, but confusing maps and annoying enemies make it really hard for me to immerse into the game.

    In a crowded landscape littered with a few too many survival crafting games, The Forest makes a pretty strong case for itself. With an open-ended world balanced by a story that moves forward, The Forest contains both freedom and mounting tension and provides not just the means for the player to survive, but a compelling reason to do so.
