    I don't get the hype. This game is so irritating I'd rather stick pencils in my eyes. Barely clad enemies resist multiple slashes of a Katana, Little Bambi deer run off after being slashed multiple times with a Katana. You need to craft two deer skins and rope to make a water canteen yet you can't empty a beer bottle and fill that up with water to carry. Night mode is far too dark and tooI don't get the hype.     Imagine no turtles spawning for an hour so you spend 2 hours at see hallucinating with chapped lips and a heat stroke and realizing you can only gather 1 turtle shell at a time because the plane crash destroyed your shell stacking abilities so you build 5 rain collectors on a raft over a period of several hours to bring back to your civilization that you only remember in dreams because youImagine no turtles spawning for an hour so you spend 2 hours at see hallucinating with chapped lips and a heat stroke and realizing you can only gather 1 turtle shell at a time because the plane crash destroyed your shell stacking abilities so you build 5 rain collectors on a raft over a period of several hours to bring back to your civilization that you only remember in dreams because you have fused turtle dna now and roam the ocean naked in your human shell and you finally arrive and some idiot throws a firebomb and everyone is trying to peel the shells from the raft but they're fused on by the angry turtle gods and everything goes quiet and all you can hear is the blood pounding in your head and suddenly your vision is red and you're chopping up your friends, your raft, and the last vestiges of your mind breaks as you run on all fours into the wild.… Expand

    Inept developers, there is no fun in this game if you are a NORMAL human, its for those people who like to make others feel like **** This game makes you fee like ****.

    Gameplay: Chop tree, chop tree, chop tree - *Ad infinitum*
    Story: Kid stolen, save kid
    Sounds: *sound of trees getting chopped*
    Visuals: *visuals of trees getting chopped*

    2/10 - would not chop trees again

    33 hours on record, worst game that I have played to date. The gameplay is awful, and it is a sorry excuse for a horror game.

    So i bought this back at release in 2014/15, forgot to do a review though, so here it goes. I quit playing pretty quickly do to the immersion breaking of enemies spawning inside your walls you built. It took me forever to build up 3 big walls around a cliff only to find out the walls are pointless because enemies just spawn inside. This is very unacceptable for a base building game.So i bought this back at release in 2014/15, forgot to do a review though, so here it goes. I quit playing pretty quickly do to the immersion breaking of enemies spawning inside your walls you built. It took me forever to build up 3 big walls around a cliff only to find out the walls are pointless because enemies just spawn inside. This is very unacceptable for a base building game. The build system is also very outdated and needs to be reworked for better usability like that of Rust. I just thought about trying to go back and play this game again and see if that "enemy spawning inside your walls" bug was ever addressed. It wasnt. So i wont go back and play it, and i'll give it 0/10 for bad base building interface and immersion breaking bugs. Thanks for reading.… Expand

    This game is probably one of the worst i have ever played. I played 5 hours when i first bought it in the pre-release and i can tell you they were horrible: no newness, no fun, no balanced challenge. Simply explore generic caves and places with nothing interesting whatsoever. This year, i played it 5 more hours to give it a chance to see if anything had been improved and, alas, it's theThis game is probably one of the worst i have ever played.     This game always had a lot of potential, but it never really lived up to it. The gameplay is repetitive and the story is uninspiring. The character controls like a tank, and the game runs very poorly.

    Only the graphics is good in The Forest, the content and building are poor and boring.
    They don't add the destroy construction option in game, don't has snap object.
    Mutants in game are too less. Playing this game remind me of Far Cry Primal but FC is much better.

    I think you should take the private parts out and change the girl cannibals desine and you should make it split screen on ps4 and xbox but other than that i think that it is the best game i have ever played

    It feels more like a bully is punching at your ribs...telling you being setup for failure is fun. No. This is not what makes games fun...we're past scamming people for squarters through lack of difficulty options. I mean if you want the experience of losing your quarters without losing quarters every time...you'll love this horrendous experience.     Honestly, i don't think it's really bad game but it's really simple and so easy to play. There is really little things you can do in game, very short game to finish it, even you play hardcore, it can be only finished after 15 hours, so it's too short for a survival game. Still good game but honestly I haven't been satisfied enough.

    I didn't enjoy playing has a bad story.The game is silly not a pioneer of survival games two people can play .I don't like it but give it a try.Minecraft with improved graphics LOL

    I can't recommend this game.
    It's boring and slow.
    Being lost in an island is not fun in real life, why would you like to do that in a game. The "evil company/government behind everything" is way overused and not engaging.

    Didnt really like it. The caves are repetitive and everything just feels weird.
    Building things takes too much time, even in 4 people.
    Story was boring so i didnt even pay attention to it

    The Forest is an awkward open-world survival game. It's thrilling to play because of the intense atmosphere, but confusing maps and annoying enemies make it really hard for me to immerse into the game.

    In a crowded landscape littered with a few too many survival crafting games, The Forest makes a pretty strong case for itself. With an open-ended world balanced by a story that moves forward, The Forest contains both freedom and mounting tension and provides not just the means for the player to survive, but a compelling reason to do so.
