The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim VR

Skyrim VR translates one of the most entertaining RPGs of the previous generation to virtual reality with next to no hiccups along the way. Though there are a few minor irritants, the core experience is ludicrously fun and runs like a dream.

For a game that wasn’t originally designed for VR at all, Skyrim VR is nothing short of impressive. This really is the Skyrim that you know and love, but now you can enjoy it like never before with the immersive presence of a VR headset. With a large variety of control schemes to choose from and hundreds of hours of content, this is a game that all RPG fans and lovers of immersive fantasy worlds should play.

Thanks to the technical power of PC VR this version is even better than on PlayStation VR. With a great amount of options catering to all hardware specs and VR needs get ready top be drawn into the most immersive version of Skyrim.

Skyrim VR on PC is a much better version than Skyrim VR on PSVR, thanks to its controls and mods. This is a real no-brainer for every VR enthusiasts, even though it may have required some more polishing.

Skyrim VR is an excellent RPG that obviously directly plants down all of the amazing work developing it. Of course, even in VR there are an abundance of user-created mods to enhance the experience. With that said, judging it purely as a virtual reality title, the limitations of trying to deliver a grand RPG of this size crop up a little more clearly than otherwise would be the case.

With mods, this game is gorgeous, and you can trick out just about any aspect of the experience, though the menus and overall object interaction is still very much stuck in the pancake world. Still, there’s nothing quite like standing your ground and taking the fight to the enemy. In VR, I am the Dragonborn, and that’s what virtual Skyrim is all about.

There have been made many compromises to get this huge game playable in VR and that shows. The controls and interface do not use the possibilities of VR to the fullest, but other than that it is amazing to walk around in Skyrim in such a real way.

Skyrim VR has successfully made its way to PC after squeezing onto PSVR, now boosting the pixels where it counts and leaving it an extremely stable experience. While flatscreen-to-VR ports tend to have the deck stacked against them, Skyrim VR for PC shows that you can bring an older, more mature game to VR and have great results. Besides some obvious holdbacks and design tropes from an early era in gaming, its vast and rich world, great voice acting and depth of play mostly make up for its shortcomings.

Great content, but also a technically obsolete VR version, with half-hearted and annoying conversion problems in many places.
