    I am a long term player of Elder Scrolls Online. It's the game I have spent the most time playing of all the games I've played over the years.

    I am now a very unhappy camper with the release of Greymoore. Aside from the launch day issues, and the usual patch the patchy patch joke that seems almost an internet meme for Elder Scrolls online resulting in the servers being offline day    I am a long term player of Elder Scrolls Online. It's the game I have spent the most time playing of all the games I've played over the years.

    I am now a very unhappy camper with the release of Greymoore.

    Aside from the launch day issues, and the usual patch the patchy patch joke that seems almost an internet meme for Elder Scrolls online resulting in the servers being offline day after day, asides from that...

    ESO has some largish issues which desperately need to be attended to, not the least being how to keep long term players engaged with the game. It is not enough to keep rehashing the same content and then releasing two new smallish zones.

    Greymoore is very disappointing.

    They have not fixed the issue around end game progression being meaningless. They have not addressed the 830 Champion point cap. They have not addressed power creep. They have not given players anything meaning to progress through. They have not fixed the endlessly buggy problems in the World versus world area with continually being loaded into new instances.

    They HAVE revamped the vampire (pardon the pun). But in doing so have basically nerfed it so badly that most will want to use Crown's bought with REAL money to then remove the vampire skill line. And this was the only thing that enticed me into outlying another $60 in Australia per client.

    Given I am a family of three that play this means we outlay $60 x3 then pay a monthly sub for ESO plus of $15 x 3 so we can get access to the actually challenging content which of course is all behind a paywall.

    I downloaded my total outlay and I alone had spent $1000 plus on this game all up (including previous expansions). Add in my wife and son and we'd have spent probably $3000 on this game.

    So next time a games salesman asks you to buy a computer game, be ready to pay $3000 for it okay.

    So this ESo plus primarily gives me a crafting bag and extra bag space. Otherwise, inventory management is painful beyond belief.

    On the Vampire skills, not only is the Ultimate skill for vampires now 100 more to use than anything else in the game (at 315 ultimate) they have now set up the disadvantages for being a vampire so that skills cost more to use unless you hunt. Even then the disadvantages meant that my Dragonknight Tank was better off now not being a vampire. Most skills have a burn your health to do more damage and the amount you burn will increase by 20 per cent each tick. Meaning you hurt yourself ever faster to do damage.

    The physics engine of the game still sucks, touch a 10,000-foot cliff on the way down to land with zero damage. Watch the animations of jumping or falling be glitchy and immersion breaking.

    Watch as people trot by on their mounts running on the back of their mounts in place. (An issue that was present in beta back in 2014).

    Want to climb ANYTHING - queue loading screen to a new instance.

    Listen as the same ten people do all the voice acting or every NPC in the game.

    So... after the vampire skillset nerf I now have seven more champion points to spend to add to all the others. I have nothing I want to spend them on. Robbing any sense of achievement in getting more completely.

    And the verbosity of the much-touted quests in the game? Is there one person who hasn't simply clicked through all this warble?

    Greymoore looks boring and bland, the subterranean area is confusing, the stories are bland and unexciting. And just how much more can you flog the vampire/werewolf thing?

    Elder scrolls online is a good game with the potential to be the best MMORPG on the market, but everytime they have the chance for improvement.... they mess it up. I have no idea why ESOs white knights defend it so desperately.

Archeology system is a grindy mobile game in a PC game. expect days to unlock dumb items.
    You should not play or buy this game, you shouldn't buy expansions or DLC or even a sub (ESO+). this game is a cash grab.
    What can you expect from the company that made/own Fallout 76. A broken product to lure their customers. ESO is bad, ESO is broken, ESO is bugged, ESO is grindy, ESO is Zenimax GREED    … Expand

    Hot garbage. More boring repetitive quest, basic unintuitive endgame. Buggy expansion per the Bethesda Standards. More of a scam than an actual game, the MMO tank, healer, dps paradigm is outdated and boring. No real sense of immersion with janky animations. 0/10.

Just because they were 'working remotely' doesn't give any sort of excuse as much of this content was made before the pandemic. Or did y'all miss the pre-PTS that fextralife leaked all the tooltips in their video? They overhauled the Vampire Skill Line and said that Blood Frenzy ticked all the boxes of what it 'means to be a vampire'. Does using an ability to raise your spell/weapon damage via the cost of health sound vampiric to you? Oh and they totally got rid of the gap closer with Clouding Swarm.

    The story is a rehashing of every other storyline out there. Your evil baddies are temper tantruming most of the time. Harrowstorms has this crazy chick who if she had a mustache, she'd certainly be twirling it. Oh and Harrowstorms don't drop anything worth while in the bags. You're mostly going to get edicts. Maybe the occasional treasure map. If you're farming for furnishings? Welcome back to Morrowind.

    Back to the vampirism part though. NPC vampires are so much cooler than what PC vampires get to be. Elusive Mist increases your speed by 30% rather than the old 70% so unless you're rocking Swift jewelry, you're pretty much caught up to in no time. Mist Form in general leaves one to be desired. Mesmerize is the buggiest skill in the kit. It doesn't always work on every NPC across Tamriel. Want to upgrade your bag space in Daggerfall? Don't bother. Blood Frenzy was touted by the Creative Director that it ticked all the boxes on what it means to a vampire. In what mythos are vampires suicidal? More to the point, in what mythos does well fed vampires get 0-regeneration, super weak to fire, and all of their class abilities cost a whopping 12% more? "Oh, but you get cheaper vampire abilities!" Right! And I can't use most of my DoTs without having a dreadful case of the me me me me's when I need a synergy. They were warned in several threads and warned all over the PTS that if this goes live, it's going to get cured by a lot of people. Guess what happened? Several bite guilds disbanded because it wasn't worth the hassle.

    And how can we forget the antiquities. While it was a great addition, if you get attacked you may as well flat out relog. Half the time the leads are all over the place while the RNG of other leads are so non-existent, they forgot to put them in the game.

    If you have a vMA weapon pre-Greymoor? Guess what? You have to go refarm it again because Rich also thinks that it's like a new model of a car.

    But they're 'totally awesome' for putting up Skyrim for the 10,000th time for people to buy. Y'all are on damn skooma with that.    … Expand

    I am a longer time fan of ESO. It, hypothetically can become one of the best MMOs on the market. You are allowed to play the entirety of Tamriel.

    However, between performance issues and more and more predatory cash shop, I just can't give this game a high score anymore.

    Apparently, this isn't happening for everyone, but the fact that it is (still) happening for anyone is a worry.

    I'm a visual person, so because most of it is so dull/unattractive to me (Skyrim the former and Blackreach the latter) I just don't find I really want to play it, at all.

    Of course, this will partly be down to a matter of taste, over and above any actual issues, but still.

    Blackreach is also pretty confusing to navigate and when you are both lost and don't like what you are looking at, you have a tendency to just want to give up and go somewhere else/log off.

    This feeling is compounded by the fact that you can run towards a cliff - not even to the edge of it - and then suddenly die from environmental damage, for no apparent reason at all.

    The usual performance issues and gameplay bugs, of course, also continue (this is ESO!), but even leaving them aside, it's just not great, in my opinion.

    Not happy at all that we have been given yet another chapter with no bag/bank expansion.

    I come from MMOs where new content = expanded bag and/or bank space, as a matter of course.

    So, I am just not used to this utter neglect of something so basic.

    Being told to make every alt a mule and then log in and out of them all, all day, by random forum people, who don't even pay for ESO+, is getting pretty old, at this point, too.

    If I played for free, over and above the initial game/chapter price, like they say they do, then fair enough I guess?

    However, I obviously don't want to pay, to then find I still have to use cheesy workarounds, like that.

    Feel similarly about the quest log.

    When you have to keep 7 slots permanently free for crafting quests, 3 free for pledges, 1 for your main quest, another 3 for other ongoing quests and perhaps a couple free for crafting writs, plus anything up to 10 free for new zone quests (including dailies), 25 is clearly not enough, unless you are very organised.

    The Antiquities system is generally OK, aside from a couple of bugs, as long as you can find the lead for the thing you want.

    Which is not always the case, especially in starter zones without bosses to kill for them.

    Housing-wise, most of the new (crafted) furnishings are also a little disappointing, to me.

    As I find about 75% of them pretty unattractive, one way or another and because there aren't even any new curtains (for the townhouse), sofas, or tapestries.

    The Solitude stuff is very plain, chunky, intentionally poorly finished and "rustic" and then, conversely, although finished in a far more luxurious way, a lot of the Vampiric stuff is very spiky and the wardrobes are bizarrely small and shallow.

    Like they were made for Vampire children; not adults.

    Some of the new fur rugs, food items and other furnishings are very nice, but even if you accept that you're never going to like 100% of everything produced, it's just not quite enough to feel adequately satisfying.

    Availability of some of the new furnishings, in guild stores, is still non-existent, which is pretty unusual, too. Usually, near the start of a new chapter, plenty of people are listing the new furnishings, for a healthy profit, but not so much this time. Plus the tendency for things to be immediately snapped up cheap and then flipped for 9x the price seems to have also increased, even further, lately. So, you can't even console yourself with decorating your new townhouse properly - as you often can't get what you need to do it at an even half reasonable price. On the plus side, at least more paintings are available in-game, now. Not a fan of the new, enormous, Vampiric "house", either, personally. It's not really even a house, as such, but rather a series of disjointed and very unwelcoming rooms. Although, I'm sure some people will like it for the theme alone. Giving the chapter 3 points. 1 for Solitude town, which is quite nice (aside from the visual wall bug I have been experiencing), 1 for the new townhouse, which isn't bad (although, not as good as the Alinor one) and 1. for the quest with the cute dog Pickles, which is the only quest I have felt like both taking and completing, so far. I'm sure there is much more good content, but as I don't even feel like doing it, in the environment provided and with so little quest log, bag and bank space, it's wasted on me, currently. All in all, I would say think very carefully about whether you are really into the theme(s) of this chapter, or not, before buying, because if you are not, there will probably not be that much to redeem it, in other ways.    … Expand

    DLC writing was mediocre, major performance loss in Cyrodiil , new performance issues including large framerate drops for no reason, gpu simply goes into rest mode for no reason during these times, story breaking bugs where the developers say " oh thatll be fixed in a month "

    Positives - the framerate stuttering is gone. Thats it.

    Most underwhelming "chapter" ever released! $40 for a **** new mobile mini-game and a new useless trial... Not to mention the baffling amount of bugs that are not acknowledged/fixed. As long as these greedy clowns praise themselves, implement shady cash store mechanics and ignore the community, you should stay away from this game.

Due to the repeated failure of improving their servers to a point where new expansions are playable upon release I feel there is no choice but to rank this as low as I have. The game has been out a full day now and the servers are still yo-yo’ing without apology from the devs.

    This results in daily chains being missed, subscribers losing out on their money’s worth etc.

    Not only are the servers unable to handle the player base, resulting in frequeant skill delay, unplayable modes such as cyrodil but they also fail to fix almost decade old bugs.

    The actual content is good... to some extent. New gear options (however this comes at a cost of huge nerds to existing gear and having to redo content for ‘upgraded gear’ which players already had ) this is akin to a WOW gear treadmill where new patches release new gear exponentially forcing players to gring.

    However the retroactive removal of established traits and play styles and replacement of ones which entirely ruin the aforementioned play styles renders a lot of the new vampire werewolf content unplayable. This is especially true for a huge proportion of players who ran these lines for the passives which are no longer viable.

    I reccomend buying greymoor as a casual game, don’t get too invested, don’t buy eso plus.
    However, this opens up new builds for a larger variety of builds focused solely on the respective curses. Namely tank werewolf.

    Having playing this for two days now, there are even more bugs than I imagined. Scrying, the new skill line, you are often kicked mid scry resulting in losing all your progress and the chains of symbols resetting often messing up your progress. New vampire skills are just re skins of old skills.    … Expand

    Taking into account the performance degradation in the past few months given their "year of performance" theme, it's hard to rate it any higher.

    Gotta give it a firm 0 due to paying 80 usd for digital deluxe preorder and not being able to play at all on launch day. Guess this company really hasn't changed since launch.

Anyone who says otherwise is one of them players who think fun pvp is pvp without competition and just want to run around wrecking the poor players who dont have meta builds and therefore stand no chance. You can find lots of videos online that show eso pvpers talk about how skilled they r while they run around killing every player they meet within a few seconds. They only wayCrappy pvp. They only way to play pvp in eso is to be maxed and have meta gear, else you are not going to see much else then your health bar dissapear. Also what counts for skilled gameplay in eso is called glitching in all other mmos, which would be fine if it was controlled, but its not because of horrible latency problems between server and client. All in all the only levels in eso pvp is noob and god, and everything that isn't god gets destroyed within a second or two.… Expand

    The performance in this game keeps getting worse with each DLC or expansion. Instead of improving the game, ESO's just piling up the bugs. Most frustrating game I've played in a long time, where you really feel like you're worth nothing as a player or a customer.

    The performance in this game keeps getting worse with each DLC or expansion. Instead of improving the game, ESO's just piling up the bugs. The writing is also getting far worse, less creative, more lukewarm and moved by the biases of the amateur writers ZOS hires, and getting worrying "woke". The quests no longer have the bite of the single player games, or even of the quests from early ESO, and there's certainly none of the imaginative and daring writing from Daggerfall or Morrowind. They inherited a great franchise built by better devs, and are at this point gutting the Elder Scrolls series and wearing its skin.

    The worst thing is all the good things ESO inherited from previous Elder Scrolls games, and even the good things Greymoor inherited from the previous expansions, but instead of being built up on they are ignored or even destroyed.

    It is not a good Elder Scrolls game, and it is not a good MMO.    … Expand

    The atmosphere is spot on, and even the less interesting quests offer up some beautiful scenery. And let's be honest, that's why you've come anyway, isn't it?

    This expansion is about the same level of enhancements that we saw with Summerset and Elsweyr, and for people hungry for Skyrim nostalgia there’s some here, but the experience is clearly in the vein of the MMO and not the single player adventure. Greymoor is a good starting point for newcomers and a welcome expansion to veteran players, while the added Stadia compatibility also offers a nice portability option.
