Terraria is a pretty good game, with bosses that are mostly good, and building that is pretty fleshed out, however, for some items, you need to grind a lot, and this happens pretty frequently. but all-in-all the game is an enjoyable experience that i have sunk quite a bit of time into.

Существуют просто Зло и Большое Зло, а за ними обоими в тени прячется Очень Большое Зло. I yet to understand the appeal of this game, it's a 2D Minecraft, with a handful of original mechanics, ideas, and features. Also fading into biomes is just odd.

This game has horrible graphics, and unlike similar games, it has the main character tiny on the screen. There is no story in this video game as it lacks any meaningful in-game culture. It's just fighting boss A, then boss B, and finding the key to boss C's room. It is just about killing. I mean, there is building housing involved, but the mechanics get old fast for the most part. There are only so many sword swipes over my character's head before I get bored. Minecraft inspires the graphics in Terraria. It is a pixelated universe. So, those that love this game generally like pixelated video games. It seems like a new thing - going back to the original pixelated games of Mario Brothers. Terraria generally has a young audience that plays it, though I think a handful of adults love it. I am an adult and played the game for 80 hours. I oddly was unable to past even close to the majority of boss battles in 80 hours. The game was tough for me to play - which I think it's too complicated. If an adult gamer cannot easily play this game, then how will children win in this game? Maybe I was not good at this video game.

On the positive side, the game has a very upbeat feel. Everything is very colorful, and it is all about playing for fun. Constructed with unique and creative gaming mechanisms, Terraria is a path blazer in the video game community. I have talked to several kids who have played it, and they all love it. I have yet to meet someone who does not just adore this game. So, I think it is perfect for the kid gamer. I think the kids like this game because it is very playful. It is a challenge in hand-eye coordination, but kids are often up to this game's challenge! This video game is not something I would continue playing, but I certainly give it a nod. It is a compelling game.

В террарию же из моих знакомых не играет никто, соответственно игра кажется неинтересной.Поиграл где-то полчаса. Для одного это очень скучная игра, как и майнкрафт. bright colorful, interesting, addictive indie sandbox. At first it will not be interesting, but when you kill your first boss, you will not give up this game. I myself played it 200 hours, I went through this game 3 times, and with confidence I can say that this is my favorite sandbox. I advise everyone an incredibly cool game.

However as I have been playing this game for a very long time I can tell you it's replay ability slowly fades as before hardmode and even after the processes needed to progress are highly repetitive with boss-fights rarely being changed which isn't necessarily a bad thing but the process of mining becomes highly tedious especially after your 2nd/3rd play through. Also although the bosses are magical thing for the first couple times they end up feeling like a chore eventually instead of something you do for fun. However Terraria is saved by its only mode letting you play with friends which brings back the spark from the game, the bosses health's increased to balance the extra damage and there is something just a lot more fun about going on this trip with a friend then all alone. And although I love this game a creators I would have to say it is best in its first through playthroughs, with the exception of mods. This review could however be wrong soon as the game still gets updated to this day adding new items and things to play around with. In conclusion I highly recommended Terraria if you are looking for a game to kill some time but don't expect it to provide constant fun. Expand

Digging and looking for materials is less eventful because of its 2D style which causes it to feel like you're not really exploring caves. The soundtrack while nice still isn't anything to write home about. Also with a limited mod system and fairly incompetent Lan play option, Terraria feels somewhat empty. Maybe with friends, the game could be more fun but as it is now it feels like a mediocre attempt at a great exploration sandbox idea. Expand

Fun game with a cool RPG-type twist to the exploration/mining game though still a Minecraft clone and ultimately a little bit too..... 2 dimensional. I mean come on.... mining for hours at a time for resources to build. Where have we seen that before? Crafting Tables, Forges, Biomes? Where have we seen that before? Ok, so Terraria was "inspired" by Minecraft and that's ok. I mean come on.... mining for hours at a time for resources to build. Where have we seen that before? Crafting Tables, Forges, Biomes? Where have we seen that before? Ok, so Terraria was "inspired" by Minecraft and that's ok. But, the thing that made Minecraft so unique was what that you could build and be creative. Build grand structures or working contraptions with red stone. Terraria falls a little flat in that aspect in my opinion. Sticking to 2 dimensions means some harsh limits to what you can do creatively. Also, I think this game would have been much better if the graphics resolutions were increased. The sprites of characters, enemies and objects are so small and blocky that something like adding a new pair of boots to your character alters it's sprite by 2 pixels. There are countless versions of all types of building blocks, crafting stations and furniture in this game yet the resolution is so bad that they all tend to blend together after awhile and only the color differences really stand out.
Those complaints aside, the RPG aspect of the game is brilliant. Finding loot in jars and chests makes exploration more fun and necessary. Adding little random bonuses to crafted weapons is a nice touch as well, making every weapon you create a little more unique. NPCs will come to your village if you build housing for them and some of them have some great, game altering abilities or loot. The number of things you can craft is astounding, even if most of them are merely cosmetic differences. Oh, and the boss battles, some a little too easy, are a fun addition to the genre and give it more of that 80s side-scrolling retro feel.
Despite the obvious inspiration from Minecraft, Terraria is a fun game to play a little and mess around, but due to the limitations with creativity I can't see it being as addictive or playing it as religiously as Minecraft.

Terraria is a game where you explore and do random crap.
BUT, there are NO tutorials, and when I started, I had no Idea wtf I was doing.

I like how it was like 95% Legend Of Zelda, and 5% Minecraft, totally original guys.

    If you like:

    - Any dumb Blocky Game

I felt slightly left out at first when the game drops you with no explanation. I find it strange when it assumes that you know what you're doing and gives you only the most basic of help. So I had to go online and watch videos of people playing before I could start figuring things out for myself. Perhaps I'm a bit lazy, but that somehow felt wrong. As I played and got the hang of things, I felt conflicted between how awesome it is, and how time consuming it was. Sort of felt like if I had put that much work into playing an instrument (rather than digging virtual tunnels), that would be time better spent...

As I said, perhaps I'm just lazy, but this game feels more for the proper gamer than for someone who just wants to play an hour or so and do something else with his day.

It's much better than Minecraft in that it has much better (though 2D) graphics, more crafting, and more interesting fights. It's a mix of Minecraft, Diablo and 2D platformers from the 90s. So it's not just a "sandbox" game for kindergarten but rather a sandbox game where you craft better weapons and armor and other equipment to defeat bigger stronger bosses. Yet the controls system is quite uncomfortable here, and on my PC the game worked pretty slowly (and I have an i7), with occasional severe drops of FPS. For a 2D game that's simply inexcusable. That's why I eventually had to just drop it in frustration. It's a good game but in no way a masterpiece or anything. E.g. even Diablo 1 from 1996 is a vastly, vastly better game. The RPG elements are rudimentary in Terraria, it's much closer to any 2D platformer like Castlevania or Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles or whatever you might have played on NES. And these games, as you know, mostly rely on reaction and fast clicks, which makes them tedious, annoying, frustrating and ultimately unrewarding. I think the time of 2D platformers is long gone, and there's no use to resurrect that outdated genre. "Don't Starve" is a much better game than Terraria due to a lot more comfortable controls (Diablo-style instead of 2D platformer-style). Expand

The game does not support a resolution that is higher than 1920 × 1200 which is quite disappointing because my screen resolution is 2560 × 1440 (QHD). It's impossible to zoom in while playing the game, this means you have to glue your face in order to feel comfortable aiming your tiny mouse to break every single little block that measures about one centimetre on my screen. The crafting system is also a disappointment, if I want to craft a certain item, I have to scroll through a long list of stuff (that isn't even organized) until I find what I need. The concept of this game is cool, but the UI is absolutely terrible. Which is why I unfortunately prefer the mobile version of Terraria over the desktop version, because in the mobile version almost every feature that I listed that isn't in desktop is there.

Terraria, however, is a game I keep going through cycles with - I become enamored with the discovery and exploration, play a lot, but then my progress bogs down, and my interest peters out for a good long while.

Overall, I think this game is great, and if you like world-builders, this is definitely a good choice for you. I think I might like a little more structure here and there to hold my interest at a constant level (not really a huge fan of googling things I find in the ground to see if there's anything useful I can make with it). It's a solid game at any rate, though, and worth playing with.

Terraria is one of the best sandbox games. Terraria has some Minecraft spirit, however the focus of the game is on fighting and crafting, so it involves more action. The best way to enjoy Terraria is to play it with a couple of friends on your own server.

A lot of games tried to copy Minecraft – or at least participate from its' success. But this two-dimensional take on the well known formula is the only game that is able to step out of the shadow of the indie phenomenon that inspired it. It leads you into a unique world full of creative magic.
